Chapter 1
As the storm rattled the ocean. The now flipped over canoe and its four voyagers desperately attempted to pull themselves out of its dark waters. Looking up, Moana watched as each lightning strike got close to the Demigod that was struggling. As if it was warning him to stop. Looking down at his Wayfinder. He could see the fear in her eyes. As he looked up only to see a flash of purple lightning. "Maui!" Moana cried out. As she watched in horror as Maui still attempted to pull the lost island from its dark tomb. Little by little his power began to disappear. And with one last strike from the lightning Maui fell into the dark ocean below.
Moana looked down at the water as words echoed through her ear. She knew what needed to be done. "You three help Maui!" Moana told the three crew members. As all three of them looked back at her "Mo "But before they could finish. Moana dived into the water and Began to make her descent to reach the lost island. As she dive deeper and deeper into the ocean. So too did the lightning that followed behind. Moana could see the lost island in sight. Holding her hand out to touch it. She closed her eyes and with that her hand touched the island surface causing a golden glow to be released. With a smile on her face the lightning struck her.
Meanwhile
Above the ocean the three voyagers helped Maui out of the water. As he slowly came to. He saw all three of his Wayfinder crew members. As he looked around "Moana!" He cried out as the three crew members looked down at the now blue ocean. Without hesitation he diive into the water. Swimming deeper and deeper. And there floating was his Wayfinder lifeless. As fear ran inside him. He slowly came to her holding her in his arms. As the blue ocean surrounded them making a small air pocket. "Moana – Moana you can't please" Maui said softly as he hoped that his words would wake her. "Please" Maui said as his voice showing how he truly felt.
At that moment a dark laughter began around Maui "What a stupid girl thinking that if she touched the island that I would go away. And that she didn't have to pay the price, what a fool. And you Maui who made her a Wayfinder, you are the reason why she lies here lifeless. And it was you that made her believe she could challenge me. Her death is on your hands Maui" The cold voice said as it began to laugh even louder. As grief and anger filled his body. "I'll make you pay Nalo!!" Maui yelled. As the cold laughter faded away, Leaving only silence. Tears fell from his eyes. He knew that Nalo was right. He was the one that taught her how to be a Wayfinder. He was also the one that made her believe that she could break the curse. He was the one who didn't stop her from putting herself in danger. He was the one that couldn't save her. Holding her small hand he pulled her close to him as he began to sing
"As this pain of grief pulls on me so heavily, I beg of you to let her stay. Please don't take her away. Oh, Mana endless light Please hear my prayer help her rise and win this fight oh great endless light help her live"
As the last word left his lips a blue light came. As a tall man that stood in front of him. "The great Mana has heard you, look" The man said pointing to Moana arm. To a golden glow upon her arm. As the glow dimmed Moana eyes slowly began to open. "Maui?" Her words sounded so soft. "MOANA!" Maui cried as he embraced her. Holding her tight, not wanting to let her go. "I must warn you Maui. With this action there will be gods that will be displeased with this gift. And because of that you and Moana will be in more danger than ever before" A soft voice said from the light. Moana looked over and there was her grandmother. Without hesitating Moana walked over and embraced her "Maui watch after her. " Moana's grandmother said softly. "I will" Maui said with soft words. With that Moana gave her grandmother one last embrace. And watch as both her grandmother and the tall man disappeared.
He looked at his Wayfinder. Thanking the great light for bringing her back to him. He knew that this time he would protect her. That he would tell the truth about everything. But for right now all he could do was walk up to her and embrace her once more. Looking up at him. Moana could still see the remnants of his tears.
A golden light appeared in his hand and there was his fishhook. As a blue light came over his body, restoring his Demigod power back to him. Moana smiled as she was happy that Maui had got his power back. Maui looked up at her and watched as another golden light had stopped in her hand. And there in her hand was her oar. As they both held their gifts in hand. The two smiled. As the worked together to pull the lost island up from the ocean
