It had been three weeks since Moana became a Demigoddess. Maui had taken Moana to an island, With only him and Moana there. He began to teach her. How to control her new powers. While flying back in his Hawk form. He noticed something in the bushes. Both Maui and Moana were unaware of the danger that was close by. There in the bushes was a monster. That had been given orders by Nalo. As the monster waited for the moment to strike
As her back was turned from the bush. The monster took its Chance to strike. Realizing the danger. Maui dived down. Blocking the attack as he pushed Moana away. From harm. Only to be struck instead. Realizing this, Moana turned around only to see Maui guarding her from the monster that was in front of him. Looking at the two, Moana reached for the ore that was beside her running to help him.
Using his power, he stopped her from coming any closer, as he took his eye off the monster. The monster took advantage striking him from behind. Leaving a large cut that was made by its claws. "Maui" Moana cried out. "You are not what I'm after. If you keep getting in my way, I will end your life." The monster said licking the blood from its claws. "What do you want with her" Maui yelled. The deep cut that was placed dripped down causing drops of blood to make a dark red stain in the sand. "The God of Storms wants her; He has ordered others to find her and bring her to him." The monster said as he looked behind Maui to look at the new Demigoddess. "What does he want with her "Maui words deep and powerful. "The God of Storms plans to have her as his bride. Since she is the chosen one by the great Mana and by the ocean of life" The monster said
"I won't let that happen, "Maui said as he gripped his fishhook tightly. Taking notice the monster laughed "You are unable to protect her. The God of Storms will have her, and you will die" The monster said lunging forward to attack him once more. "He can try but he will fall just like you," Maui said using his last strength. Striking the monster. Causing it to disappear into nothingness.
Looking back at his Wayfinder. He fell to his knees, only to hit the sand that was beneath him. As the power that was keeping her safe had disappeared. "Maui" Moana cried out Running to him. Only when she got close did she see the depth of the wounds. "Maui" She cried out as she turned him to see the wound that was in front. Hearing her voice Maui opened his eyes. "Maui, why- why did you stop me from helping you" Moana asked. not only in her tears but also in her voice. "Because I promised her that I would keep you safe," Maui said looking up at her. Taking his head in her lap. "Maui you don't have" But before she could finish, he stopped her "Yes, I do. I can't – I can't lose you again Princess" Maui said softly
"Maui" Her voice was soft as she watched as he placed his hand behind her head. Gently pulling her close to him. As he placed his lips on his Wayfinder. Only to surprise her with that gesture. Pulling back from the kiss. "Now you know why," Maui said as his hand dropped from her side onto the sand. As he lost consciousness. "Maui- Maui" Moana cried out as she tried to wake him.
