18 days after the battle on Earth
On Frieza planet No.79, the soldiers and scientists stationed there were just going about their business. That was until suddenly, two soldiers noticed readings of an incoming ship on a monitor. The 2 ran up to the monster in shock and began discussing between themselves on what it would be.
"Is it Lord Frieza?"
"It can't be, he just left!"
They then noticed the spacepod and picked up the signal as Vegeta's. They wondered why they hadn't received a notification from him and where Nappa's pod was, but radioed other soldiers to be prepared for his arrival. Once the pod touched down, the soldiers anxiously waited for Vegeta to come out, and sure enough the pod opened.
What they weren't expecting was to see a bloodied Vegeta whose armor was in tatters and was holding a half-naked unconscious woman. One of the soldiers asked the saiyan prince,
"Um, Mr Vegeta….what happened?"
Vegeta simply shot the soldier a death glare and told him,
"Get this woman to a healing pod as soon as possible. The suspended animation in my pod has kept her alive so far, but she still needs medical attention immediately!"
The soldiers nodded and two of them quickly ran up to him, taking the woman and carrying her to the nearest healing pod. Vegeta also entered a healing pod himself in order to heal from the wounds he had previously sustained. Once he was healed, he was greeted by his doctor, who told him,
"Unfortunately, we were unable to regenerate your tail."
Vegeta dismissively replied,
"No matter. It will grow back with time. Now take me to the woman I brought with me."
"O-ok, but put on your clothes first."
Vegeta looked down and noticed that he was naked, so he did what the doctor asked and put on armor that the doctor had left for him. The doctor then took him to the room where Goka was being treated, and Vegeta walked up to her and placed his hand on the glass. Looking at Goka in the pod, sleeping peacefully as her wounds healed, Vegeta began to feel a strange feeling.
He remembered back to the battle on Earth, and the battle they had gone through. As much as he hated to admit it, she was the only member of his race who had ever given him a challenge. He also took note of how Goka had been stripped naked as well. As he was staring at her, the doctor suddenly asked,
"By the way Vegeta, who even is that?"
Vegeta was startled by the doctor's words, but then turned around and told him,
"Her name is Kakarotta, and she's a fellow saiyan."
The doctor's eyes widened upon hearing this and he yelled,
"Another saiyan?! A female, no less?! Do you have any idea what Lord Frieza will do if he finds out there's still a female saiyan alive?!"
Vegeta knew exactly what would happen. Frieza would kill her. The saiyan prince then turned his attention back to the sleeping Goka. thoughts of what Frieza would do to her if he found out about her rushed through his mind, and he vowed not to let that happen. He would protect her. Vegeta shook his head. Was this…genuine affection he was feeling for someone other than himself?
No. That was ridiculous. She was just a means to and end and nothing more. Yet, he couldn't help but linger his gaze at her until the doctor told him,
"Oh yes, I forgot to tell you. Cui told us that once you were done healing, he needed to speak to you in the training room. Also, what happened to Nappa?"
Vegeta scoffed and replied,
"Tell him I have nothing to say to him. And Nappa…let's just say he's on permanent vacation. Anyway, I'm leaving. Keep Kakarotta sedated until I return, and don't say a word of what I've told you to anyone. We can't have Frieza be alerted to her existence, can we?"
"Y-yes…"
As Vegeta walked out of the room, the doctor reminded him that he forgot his scouter, but Vegeta replied by telling him,
"It's yours. I have no use for it anymore."
The doctor was confused by this statement, but watched as Vegeta exited the room. Then, not wanting to know what would happen if he didn't follow Vegeta's orders, he told the medical staff in the room to put Goka under sedation. As they did so, Vegeta walked through the halls, thinking about how once he got the dragon balls and got his wish, he would exterminate the Earthlings. However, he was then interrupted from his thoughts by a face he really loathed seeing.
It was the purple skinned, fish faced and scaly alien Cui, Vegeta's self-proclaimed "rival." However, the saiyan prince couldn't care less about him. Cui condescendingly greeted him and told him,
"I heard you had quite a rough time recently…they said Raditz and Nappa are both dead. To whom do the supposedly invincible saiyans owe this grief too, hmmmm?"
Vegeta told Cui to get lost, but Cui then put a condescending hand on his shoulder and told him,
"You know, Lord Frieza's not happy about you running off to Earth by yourself. But lucky for you, he can be merciful. It seems he's been in a forgiving mood ever since your sensational discovery…"
This got Vegeta's attention, with the saiyan prince turning to Cui and asking what he meant. Cui smugly replied,
"You know, Lord Frieza was listening in on you and Nappa's scouters during your time on Earth. He was thrilled to hear of the prospect…of eternal life and youth!"
Vegeta's eyes nearly burst out their sockets upon hearing this, and he asked Cui,
"SAY WHAT?! THEN THIS MEANS THAT LORD FRIEZA IS GOING TO-!"
"That's right, Planet Namek!"
Without another word, Vegeta darted off across the hallway in a panic. The saiyan prince thought to himself,
'Damn it! How could we have forgotten to turn our scouters off?! If I don't beat him to the punch, I'll be that bastard's slave for eternity! Not to mention the fact that if he knows about the dragon balls, he probably knows about Kakarotta…!'
Vegeta quickly jumped in a spacepod and shot off for Namek despite the protests of the soldiers on the ground.
(Author's note: I'm going to speed through the next few parts of the Namek arc since nothing much changes. Since Vegeta wasn't as injured as in canon by the Z-Fighters, his post-zenkai power level is only 22,000. He manages to outskill Dodoria and kill him, and the bigger beatdown from Zarbon allows him to get to his canon power. Besides that, everything goes the same)
December 24th, Age 762
Gohan laid on the ground, listening to the tall, buff man taunting him. How had everything gone so wrong? He, Bulma and Krillin had come to Namek to use the dragon balls to revive their friends and save Goka. Instead, they had been confronted with enemies that made Vegeta look like an ant in comparison. They had even had to team up with the saiyan prince to fight the evil Frieza's strongest goons; the Ginyu force.
Even with him and Krillin's potential unlocked by the Namekian elder Guru, they had had to be saved from the weakest member by Vegeta and stood no chance against Recoome the bruiser. And to top that off, their captain had taken the namekian dragon balls, so Frieza was probably about to get his wish.
Anger and desperation running through his veins, Gohan stood up despite Krillin telling him to stay down and told Recoome,
"I'm not afraid of you…I came here…to save my mom.."
Recoome mockingly replied,
"Hoho, you still have the strength to talk all of this nonsense? I don't know what planet your from, but they make'em pretty tough!"
Gohan then charged at Recoome, screaming,
"I WON'T QUIT!!! I WON'T LET YOU BEAT ME!!!"
Recoome laughed and responded,
"Looks like you messed with the wrong guy!"
As Gohan attempted to land a punch on the graceful bruiser, he flipped over it and delivered a kick to the boy's neck, shattering it. Gihan landed on the floor with a thud, and from a rock formation in the distance, Ginyu force members Jeice and Burter observed that Gohan's power level had dropped to zero.
Recoome then looked around at the heroes and Vegeta's defeated forms and said,
"What a bunch of pathetic trash…I can't believe Lord Frieza called the Ginyu force just to get rid of you guys! I guess I'll just finish you three off and be done with it."
He looked over to Vegeta and said,
"Starting with you…"
The graceful bruiser began walking up to Vegeta, who could only watch in horror. This was it. He was going to die, and Frieza would become immortal. Not only that, but Frieza would find Kakarotta and kill her, and the saiyan race would die with her. He cursed everything, damning his fate. Recoome then told Vegeta,
"I don't know why Lord Frieza was so afraid of you guys. Without those big monkey forms of yours, most of you couldn't even crack a power of 10,000."
Vegeta gritted his teeth and looked up at Recoome. Would that face be the last thing he saw?! After a few moments, Vegeta mentally said,
'...No. I refuse to die like this. I am Vegeta, prince of saiyans. I will become the strongest in the universe! SECOND TO NONE! ESPECIALLY NOT FRIEZA!'
Vegeta 's power began to slowly rise, but this went unnoticed by Reccome, who raised his hand to deliver the final punch. The bruiser yelled,
"TAKE THIS! RECOOOOOOMEEE, PUNCH!!!!"
Recoome let loose a punch that under any other circumstance would have taken Vegeta's head off. However, this punch, to everyone the shock of everyone observing, was caught by Vegeta. The saiyan prince then lifted his eyes, and his pupils were completely white. However, this was nothing compared to what happened next. Vegeta suddenly became engulfed in a golden aura, with his skin turning the same color and his hair seemingly turning red. His pupils also completey vanished.
On top of all that, his power level suddenly rose rapidly, distracting Burter and Jeice enough that they barely noticed when Vegeta twisted Recoome's hand counter clockwise and broke it. The bruiser stepped back in pain while holding his broken hand, which was covered in Vegeta's aura. The saiyan prince then rushed forward screaming, plunging his fist into Recoome's chest.
Recoome coughed blood before Vegeta pulled his hand out of his chest and turned his attention to Jeice and BUrter. Terrified and despite knowing the answer, Burter asked Jeice,
"J-Jeice…what did the scouter say about Vegeta's power level just now?"
Jeice replied,
"I-it's…570,000…"
Before Jeice could say anything more, Vegeta rushed forward and punched him in the face with enough force to blow his head off. Burter barely had time to be horrified before he was kicked so hard that he was split in half. Vegeta then jetted off in the direction of Frieza. All this occurred in the span of only a few seconds, leaving Krillin in absolute shock. Meanwhile on King Kai's planet, King Kai fell to his knees in despair. Yamcha, who was training under him alongside Tien, Chiaozu and Piccolo asked him,
"Hey King Kai, what's wrong?"
"It's over…"
"Huh?"
"There's only one explanation for what just happened. Vegeta has become…the legendary super saiyan…!"
Author's note: Ok, so I see that there have been no new comments on this fanfic since the last chapter. I'm a little disappointed by that, and I hope that there will be more engagement. But this is where things really start changing. I hope you're excited for future chapters!
