Riley collapsed in Lucas's arms as he directed her outside of Josh's room. Her parents whispered to the doctors but glanced at her sobbing in Lucas's arms. Unsure of what to do, Lucas just held her in his arms and let her break down. He tried his best to keep his composure, but her cries for Josh broke his heart. Topanga walked over with her own swollen red eyes and placed her hand on Riley's back.

"Lucas, we will take it from here," Topanga whispered, but Riley did not let go of Lucas.

"Hey, Riley, your mom needs you," Lucas whispered and instinctively ran his fingers through her hair.

"I can't," She cried and Topanga understood what she meant.

"I can put you in a cab," Topanga began, but Lucas shook his head.

"I'll take her," He said and could see the fear in Topanga's eyes.

"I'll drive around, let her fall asleep, and bring her to your place, you should be back by then," Lucas said as Topanga hesitantly nodded.

Topanga watched Riley crumble further into Lucas's and felt the overwhelming feeling that this was going to get worse before it was going to get any better. She partly hoped that Riley would just tell him, but she was brought out her train of thoughts when Cory called her over.

"I'll call you," Topanga whispered and Lucas let Riley sob in his arms.

As the sobs subdued, Lucas pulled Riley's face up. Her face was swollen and splotched and her eyes were bloodshot. She was still sniffling when Lucas wiped her cheeks. He wanted to be selfish, walk away, and leave her to crumble. Hurt her like she hurt him, instead he interlocked their fingers. Numbly she followed him to his car, and he softly helped her into the car and clicked the seatbelt. He closed the door and walked around to his side. He was hesitant; he was vulnerable and stuck.

He climbed into the car and could hear her still crying, but she kept her face towards the window. He pulled off and drove into the traffic of the City. Words came to his mind, but nothing came out. What kind of conversation could they have right now? Ask about the weather? He didn't even know where to drive, and he did not know how to feel. It was too quiet in his mind, and that is when he realized she had fallen asleep.

Lucas pulled up in front of the skyscraper and looked over at the broken brunette. She was curled into a ball in the passenger seat, and her nose reddened from sobbing herself to sleep. He caressed the hair out of her face and sighed. He was digging himself into a hole with her. One glance at her broken appearance, and he sobbed himself.

Josh had grown to be one of his closest friends over the years, and he was gone. Their friendship was rocky at first, but as the years went on, he had grown to love him as a brother. Now he was gone, and the last thing he wanted was for Riley and Lucas to get closure. How could he do that? How could he love someone so much and hate them at the same time?

He coughed and wiped his face of tears and pulled around into the private garage. He should have taken her home, but Topanga had not called either of them. He figured they still had to find a way to break it to Auggie, and one look at his sister would have told him. He parked in his spot and knew that once he brought her upstairs, the dynamics could switch. He carried her up to the apartment and placed her down on the couch.

Pieces of Allison still lied around, and he could see her touches in certain spots. Regret washed over him and knew he needed a drink. He walked to the kitchen and could feel the weight of the world on his shoulders.

First, his fiancée left him, he lost one of his best friends and now his ex-girlfriend has passed out on his couch. He could feel the knots in his stomach and grabbed the brand new bottle of scotch from the cabinet. He could get a drink, but he knew Riley would need something to drink when she woke up.

He poured a glass of scotch and turned to grab her a bottle of water. He could hear the glass slam back down and turned to see Riley. Her gaze was on the counter, but he could see her eyes were bloodshot red. She had down the entire glass and he could see she wanted more. He grabbed another glass and poured them another drink. If this is what she needed, just to get her mind over the loss, it was something he can do to help. She downed it once more and slammed the glass back down.

Another pour for her as he nursed his second drink. She gulped it down and slid the glass to him. He was beginning to get hesitant, but he poured her fourth drink. She didn't drink it but clenched the glass in her hands. Riley turned to his face and hastily turned away and glanced at the apartment. The windows called to her, and she walked over to them. Lucas followed her with his eyes and watched her look out the window.

It was dark now, and the lit windows lit up the New York skyline. It was one of his favorite things about the apartment. He could stare out into the city and just watch the lights. He checked his phone, no messages from… anyone. Eventually, he had to talk to her, and why not take the chance now? He walked behind her with a bottle of water which she refused and he sighed.

"Scotch isn't the only thing you should ingest," Lucas said softly.

"I want to be irresponsible once, is that okay with you? Can I just be a fuck up once, act as bad as I feel," Riley said and continued her drink.

"That isn't the Riley way," Lucas said as he opened the water bottle.

He grabbed the glass from her hand and placed the water bottle in it instead. She gasped and turned after Lucas, who sighed.

"Give that back!" Riley cried as he raised the glass effortlessly above her head.

"No!" Lucas said as Riley jumped.

It was no use, Lucas had gotten taller, and she didn't. He was also stronger and didn't flinch when she punched his stomach. He chuckled, and that infuriated her, and she punched him again. He allowed her; he allowed her to hit him with all her might as she cried. It wasn't about him; it was about Josh, and he knew it.

"Feel better?" He asked as she shook her head no.

"Why don't I? Why do I hurt so much, it's not like I deserve to be happy," She croaked.

"Riley," Lucas sighed and Riley took a deep breath.

"You don't understand Lucas and it's fine, I need to go," Riley said and turned around but wobbled on her feet slightly.

Lucas grabbed her as she tottered and their eyes locked onto one another. Neither made a move but just stared at one another. Riley bit her lip and it was a trigger for him and he knew he was going to regret his next move. However, she beat him to the punch. Riley grabbed his face and pulled him into a deep kiss. She could feel him seize up at her action and she pulled away. She just wanted to forget everything for a few seconds, and instead, she was making a bigger mess.

She turned to walk away when he spun her around. It was just like back at Masa, but instead; he smashed his lips onto hers. He lifted her effortlessly and slammed her against the wall. It was like he was drinking her soul from her and she melted in his arms. They finally pulled away, but that didn't stop him, as she could feel the trail of passionate kisses down her neck. She arched her body towards him and he pulled her off the wall. She moaned, and it made him bite her neck.

"Lucas," She gasped, and just hearing that sent him into overdrive.

He latched onto her neck and directed them towards the coach. He gently placed her onto the couch and pulled away from her neck. He looked at her face flushed, her hair tossed around, her lips swollen and she bit them. This was wrong, this was wrong, he had to tell himself.

"I'm fine with this moment," Riley whispered and Lucas knew she was giving him the consent he needed.

"One moment is enough for me," Riley continued and reached up.

She grabbed his face and kissed him softly but passionately. Each kiss drove him deeper into her spell. She licked his lips and his mouth parted open for her.

"Is that okay with you?" Riley asked.

He wanted to say yes, but he was hesitant wasn't for the moment but the one part. He knew one would not be enough; he was addicted to her. He knew one time was going to drive him to his wit ends. One moment will make him crave others, but here he was with the one. Her legs wrapped around his waist, her hands caressed the back of his neck, and her lips begging to be kissed.

"Yes," Lucas lied.

He leaned in to seal it with a kiss and allowed himself to drown in Riley Matthews.

Riley opened her eyes and stared at the dark ceiling. She tried to calm her breathing, but her heart was hammering out her chest. She tried to figure out where she was and she felt the warm skin next to her. Shocked, she sat up and saw Lucas next to her fast asleep.

"What the fuck Riley!" Riley groaned and looked around the room and could see her clothes strewn about.

She looked for her phone and could see it on the floor. With ease, she crept out of the bed and picked up her phone and was surprised to see only two missed calls, her mom and Auggie. Her mind raced as she tried to figure who she would call and they wouldn't question her. Before she knew it, she was whispering into her phone.

"I know it's late but… can you pick me up…. I'm um… at Lucas's. Really? Ten minutes? Okay, thank you!" Riley whispered and hung up the phone.

She looked over to Lucas who was still asleep and quickly got dressed in the clothes she could find. She questioned if she should walk over and wake him, but instead she blew him a kiss bye. Scampered out of the room as her phone vibrated again, which told her her ride was there.

He felt her escape his bed and let out the breath he was holding on to. It wasn't one moment like he thought. It was four moments, from the couch to the bed to the floor and back to the bed. It was different, and he tried to erase the memories but having her moan his name underneath him, and her kisses seared in his memories. She giggled at the same spots, but she also moaned loudly at new ones. He shook his head to erase it. He couldn't think about that right now.

While she thought he was asleep, he was wide awake. How could he sleep after that, his dreams wouldn't be enough? Instead, when she woke up, it was easier to pretend to be asleep so that the awkwardness wouldn't grow. He heard the soft click of his door and got out of bed. A part of him wanted to chase her and talk, but it scared him to get pulled into her world again. He had her, and he let her slip away again.

A part of him wished this was it. She would be gone forever, and he finally got her out of his system. Another part wishes that she was in his arms and they could whisper until the sun came up. He knew better. He knew he had to move on and get Allison back. He had to try.

He looked over at the clock on his nightstand and looked at the time: 2:30 AM, and he knew it meant 7:30 AM in London. Allison could have been landing, or already at her place, and yet he didn't send her a text. Instead, he grabbed his phone and opened his messages, and opened the thread he had with Topanga.

Topanga 12:04: I am coming.

Lucas 12:04: She's sleeping.

Topanga 12:06: Can you wake her, please?

Lucas 12:07: I can bring her home in the morning, she's okay.

Lucas 12:07: Trust me.

Lucas 12:07: I will make sure she's fed and safe.

Topanga 12:15: Ok. Call me if otherwise.

He had wondered why she was hesitant about letting Rile stay, but he knew he had to shoot her a message that Riley left. He felt he owed it to Matthews. There was no bad blood, and they always checked on him. Yet they were the link to … her.

Lucas 4:34: Sorry to text so late/early, but Riley left.

Topanga 4:34: I know, thank you, Lucas.

Lucas sighed and figured Riley would call one of her parents, but that did put him at ease that she was safe.

Lucas 4:35: No problem, good night/morning

He didn't get an answer, and he was slightly pleased as it would make it easier to cut them out of his life. It was wrong, but without Josh what connections could he have to them. He tossed his phone onto the bed and laid down. He stared at the ceiling and tried to ignore the scent of Riley in his bed. Her touch under his, and hearing her whispering his name. He sat up and left the room and walked into the kitchen. Their glasses on the counter, but with a piece of paper. He grabbed the paper and could see it was part of his menu and Riley's handwriting.

Thank You - R.

He tried to suppress his smile, but he couldn't. She still had this power over him, and he was letting it win. He had to talk to her now. That was his next step, they just had to talk. Define … everything.

Riley clenched her phone and leaned her head on the cool glass of the window. Her stomach turned with guilt, and the mixture of alcohol. She knew better to mix her medication with alcohol but she just needed to feel bad as her emotions were. She needed to fuck up, she held it together for so long and now she needed to release it.

"You ok?"

Riley looked at him with tears in her eyes.

"Riles-"

"I am still in love with him," Riley confessed.

"I know," He responded.

"I let myself fall again, and I am still madly in love with Lucas Friar, why am I am so fucked up," Riley cried.

"Riles-"

"Farkle why, why am I like this, why are these feelings so overwhelming," Riley asked as Farkle gripped the steering wheel.

He was surprised to hear Riley's voice so late in the night but he was with the Matthews and Maya at their place. He knew she was with Lucas when he texted Topanga but was surprised to hear her call him. Maya had sobbed herself to sleep and he hated the feeling he was getting watching his girlfriend crying over her ex so he took the opportunity to leave. He was grateful to the Matthews for understanding all of it.

"You can't help who you like," Farkle simply responded.

"I like Zay," Riley said.

"But you love Lucas" Farkle sighed.

"Yes," Riley said and tried to calm herself down.

"Did you tell him about Isabella?" Farkle asked,

Riley paused and Farkle pulled the car over,

"Did you?" His voice was filled with hope.

"Almost," Riley whispered and tried not to remember feeling Lucas's arms around her.

However, it was like she was in his room again. She could feel him with her. He held her to his chest and she was running her fingers across his chest, writing I love you. She ran her fingers in his hair and then down his face. His beard pricked her fingers and she touched his lips with her fingers.

"I love you, I love you, Lucas Friar, Lucas I need to tell you something and maybe it's a good thing you're asleep," Riley whispered.

"I have a piece of you, with me, all the time and I think I selfishly kept it for myself because I can't lose you again,"

Riley took a deep breath and looked at his face for a moment. She turned away and just reminded herself, he was asleep but she hoped he was listening.

"Lucas, we have a-" Riley stopped when she saw a picture of Lucas and Allison on the nightstand. Her heart strained and she swallowed the words.

"Goodnight," Riley whispered as she forced herself back into her shell and fell asleep.

"What happened?" Farkle asked.

"I saw the perfect life he had," Riley answered.

Farkle turned the car off and Riley could see the lights on in her parent's brownstone. She was scared of how to be, but right now she knew she had to focus on Isabella. She wasn't being the best parent she could be. Now without Josh being there, she had to focus all her energy on keeping Isabella safe from the world.

"Let's go," Farkle said.
