Riley wiped her face and walked towards her old room. She tried to ignore the voices in her mind but she couldn't and tried to ignore the pain in her heart. As she opened the door she could see Auggie flipping Isabella onto Riley's old bed and Zay at the bay window lost in thought.

"You couldn't watch her! Dammit Auggie," Riley snapped as Isabella frowned.

"You said a bad word," Isabella said and Riley covered her mouth.

"Mommy did Izzy, I'm sorry I didn't mean to, mommy is just disappointed in your uncle Auggie," Riley said and gave Auggie a glare.

"What's the big deal! Lucas finally knows! That's great and now we don't need to be like covert because this tiny thing is around" Auggie said and flipped Isabella again.

"Still Auggie I am trusting you to look after her," Riley continued.

"I did I just had to step away-"

"Why was the door unlocked!" Riley interrupted.

"It's always unlocked! Gosh Riley, why can't you just be happy!" Auggie said and stalked out the room.

Isabella sighed and looked at Riley with wide eyes. Riley placed a finger to her temple and knew she shouldn't have taken it out on him. She was angry at herself, she slipped up and Lucas did what she secretly wanted him to do. Be there.

"Are you going to say anything?" Riley asked and looked at Zay who shrugged.

"I want to say something! When's daddy coming back?" Isabella asked and Riley watched Zay visibly flinch.

"Tomorrow, Izzy can you do me a favor and tell Auggie Mommy is sorry?" Riley asked.

"Can I take youtube?" Isabella asked as Riley smiled and handed her phone to the toddler.

"Thanks, mommy," Isabella said and skipped out of the room.

"Zay say something," Riley said and he stared at the floor.

"Please," Riley begged.

"So it's that simple? He just swoops in and is dad of the year? Everything is … done, isn't it? Prince Charming is now in the story?" Zay asked.

"He took it better than I expected him to take it, which complicates everything," Riley said.

"Did you sleep with him?" Zay asked and Riley gasped.

"He told me, he told me, and he's here and he gets to just replace me," Zay said.

"You're still a part of my family, you will always be-"

"But he gets all of you! He will always touch the untenable part of your heart! Dammit Riley I love you!" Zay snapped.

"You slept with a stranger!" Riley accused.

"I apologized, and we aren't together, and we won't ever be together because of him!" Zay argued.

Riley stalked across the room and leaned down to kiss Zay who moved. Riley sat in the spot he was in and Zay shook his head.

"Don't mess with my feelings because you're scared to admit to yourself that everything you ever wished for secretly is coming true. You get the perfect family with Lucas" Zay said.

"I try to kiss you and it's about Lucas?" Riley said.

"You don't want to kiss me, you think kissing me will place a bandaid on this mess but it won't. What about his fiance? How does she fit in this story, Riley?" Zay said and poked at Riley's insecurities.

"You want me right? I am right here and trying to give you me!" Riley said.

"Stop ignoring everything, stop hiding! Stop it!" Zay said.

"Kiss me," Riley said.

"What was I a placeholder? Am I just here in case shit doesn't work out with him? That's it right? I'm just here to be here because you know I will do anything for you but your heart will always belong to Lucas Riley. He is the one you love, and will always love. Deep down you want all of this, a family with him, and you want him to love you with no resentment but you're so scared that he will reject you that it's easier to accept that I am here someone who is willing to do that … the fucked up part? You won't ever love me in that way, and won't ever will," Zay said and Riley stared at him.

He had become her best friend and he learned everything about her. So as much as Riley wanted to deny it, Zay said her innermost thought.

"Zay, please just listen-"

"I tried so hard to be that person for you but we were just fooling ourselves weren't we?" He asked and Riley sniffled back the tears.

Zay's eyes teared up as he could feel his heart break at the words that he was saying but they had to be said.

"I was there! I took care of that little girl through every cold, I comforted her through nightmares, and kissed every scrape! He doesn't get to replace me in her life," Zay said as his voice cracked.

"Never!" Riley exclaimed.

"But he is her father and I am not," Zay said as tears rolled down her face.

"Zay you will forever be an important person in Izzy's life! You are important to my life! Please just stop! Please stop! Look we can go home-"

"But it's too late Riley! It could never be the way it was. You deserve to be happy but so do I, and I can't be around you and not feel my heart break everytime I look at you," Zay said as Riley sobbed.

"I'm sorry," Zay said and walked out the room.

Riley sobbed into her hands as the one person who never walked out on her, left her all alone in pain.

Lucas knew he should have gone home and talked to Allison but he had to stop by Maya's first. He pretty much put together that Maya and Farkle knew, and that is why they were so chummy with Riley. Everything started to make sense and he could see why. Once you got to know Isabella you couldn't imagine life without her. She was the best parts of Riley and Lucas mixed into one person.

Lucas found himself in front of Maya's studio and buzzed her bell.

"Who?"

"Hey Farkle it's me," Lucas said.

"Come up," Farkle said and Lucas heard the buzz of the door.

Lucas pulled open the gated door and walked up the two flights to Maya's apartment. The door ajar slightly and Lucas poked his head through looking for either Farkle or Maya.

"What are you doing on my side of the world Huckleberry?" Maya asked as she turned a corner dressed in old clothes for painting.

"Just finished talking to Riley … and Izzy," Lucas said as Maya stopped mid-step.

"She told you?!" Maya exclaimed as Lucas raised an eyebrow.

Farkle turned the corner holding large glass containers filled with paint water.

"She told him!" Maya exclaimed and ran towards Lucas.

Maya jumped into Lucas's arms as the two hugged tightly. Maya slapped his arm to put her down and she couldn't erase the grin on her face.

"I found out, she didn't tell me, and I can't believe you didn't tell me!" Lucas said.

Maya sighed and ran a hand through her flowing blonde hair. She glanced over to Farkle who was biting the inside of his cheek.

"Either of you," Lucas said and looked over to Farkle himself.

"It wasn't our place but she did give me permission when she left to tell you, we wanted to though Luke so bad," Maya said as she signaled for him to follow her.

Lucas tossed his jacket onto the counter and followed Maya into the living room as she sat on her flower patterned couch. Something that Lucas never knew why she bought as it wasn't her style. Farkle plopped into the leather chair as Lucas sat next to Maya.

"How was it?" Maya asked as she played with her hands.

"Amazing, like she was always part of my life, like I can't believe I love someone this much, and she's so much like the Riley I used to know," Lucas said as Farkle nodded.

"She's smart too, and kind, and just an amazing ball of energy," Maya added.

"She's my daughter," Lucas said as Maya teared up.

"She is, so what are you going to do?" Farkle asked as Maya shot him a look.

"I don't know, Riley is extremely fragile for some reason and I know she needs to focus on Josh's funeral but … so much time has been taken away from me. I didn't want to leave her and I know they live so far and I don't want her to go … either of them," Lucas confessed.

"Allison?" Farkle asked.

"Farkle!" Maya exclaimed as Farkle sighed.

"She's back and she wants to plan our wedding. I love Alli, but …"

"Changes everything?" Maya asked.

"Everything. How could I let my daughter just walk out of my life? I just met her and I am scared I won't see her again, and my feelings for Riley are there. Maya please tell me why she is shoving me away?" Lucas asked.

"Riley … I shouldn't," Maya said and shook her head.

Lucas looked towards Farkle who had the same look on his face since Lucas walked in. Cool, calm and collected but inquisitive.

"She suffers from depression," Farkle said.

"She told you?" Maya asked.

"No she didn't have to, but that isn't the only thing. Riley is scared to allow herself to be happy, it's easier to be sad and assume the worst, then get a chance of happiness and lose it. Combine it with her depression, and you have her actions. It's just easier to pull away," Farkle said.

"Then there is Zay," Maya said as Lucas nodded.

"I picked up on that pretty early," Lucas sighed.

"What are you going to do?" Maya asked and Lucas could hear the hope in her voice.

"I don't know but I do have to talk to Alli, I owe her that and more. We had this plan and now with Isabella in the picture it has to be modified. Isabella is now my main concern, I could be single for all I care as long as I keep her in my life" Lucas confessed.

"That's what I expected of you Huckleberry and I tried explaining to Riley you would never hate her, either of them,"Maya said and sighed.

"I'm angry with Riley don't be fooled, she kept Isabella a secret and if all this didn't happen would she have told me? Would I ever know? Trust is something that is very fragile," Lucas said.

"Yeah but you slept with her," Maya said as Lucas's eyes widened.

"Oh god I don't want to hear this," Farkle said.

"What he did! I just think that should be taken into account, that you trust her enough for that, why not more?" Maya said.

"That was before I knew about Isabella and I can't believe she told you," Lucas said embarrassed.

"Oh please I knew something was going to happen, you guys were the it couple, if anyone was going to make it was going to be you two," Maya pushed.

"Maya," Farkle warned and Maya sighed.

"We support any decision you make Lucas," Farkle continued.

"Thanks guys I appreciate it, you guys have always been the greatest over the years," Lucas said.

Maya flipped her hair and laughed at Lucas's face of annoyance.

"You always have to ruin it don't you?" Lucas asked as Maya shrugged with a grin and Farkle laughed.

Lucas sighed as he opened his front door. Classical music lulled in the background and he could smell chicken being cooked. He slowly walked into the kitchen and saw Allison cooking dinner while also working on her laptop.

"Welcome home Love," Allison said when she saw Lucas in the kitchen.

She walked over the space and gave Lucas a soft kiss but could feel his hesitation to kiss back. Her nose rubbed his as she pulled back from him and gave him a look.

"What's wrong?" Allison asked.

"I need to tell you something," Lucas said and sat down in one of the bar stools.

Allison followed him into the kitchen as Lucas fidgeted. Nervous, she looked at Lucas who looked pale.

"You're scaring me, is it Joshua?" Allison asked.

It was if a million bricks hit Lucas as he realized Allison didn't know of his passing. How was he going to pile all of this on her right now. What the hell was he going to do?

"He passed Alli," Lucas said as Allison gasped.

She walked around the counter and threw her arms around Lucas. He tried to ignore the feeling that this was uncomfortable for him and he swallowed his words. She pulled away and patted his cheek.

"I'm so sorry Love! We should send his family flowers," Allison said.

"I did, white roses," Lucas gulped.

"That's my boo bear, gosh how did I get so lucky?" Allison said and played with the front of Lucas's hair.

"Alli there is more," Lucas said.

"Yes there is," Allison said and grinned.

Lucas tried to figure out what she was going to say but she didn't continue.

"Well you first," Allison said and smiled sadly.

"We can't get married," Lucas said and her hands stopped playing with his hair.

"What? What about everything you said?" Allison asked and stepped away from Lucas.

"Something happened?" Lucas said.

"With Riley?" Allison asked and her eyes widened.

"Alli relax let me talk," Lucas said as Allison began to pace the floor.

Lucas watched the blonde pace and bit her fresh manicure. She paced and muttered to herself.

"Well talk!" Allison snapped.

"Alli look I don't want to hurt you," Lucas started.

Allison glared at him and scoffed at his words. She waved him off dismissively and they both could smell smoke. Their dinner burned but Allison didn't move to fix it. Lucas got up but Allison motioned for him to sit back down. Their relationship was going down in flames like their dinner.

"Hurt me? My mum was right! I should have not come back! Just work Allison, focus on your career, but no I had to follow my heart, to you Lucas!" Allison snapped.

Smoke billowed out and started to cloud the kitchen. Neither moved to fix if and Lucas looked down ashamed that he was breaking her heart. Allison sighed and looked at him with tears.

"I really wish you wouldn't throw everything we have built for some girl!" Allison said.

"There's more," Lucas said.

"What! What could be more heartbreaking than hearing your fiance reject you after you stupidly come back for him?" Allison asked.

"Isabella," Lucas said.

"Well haven't you been a busy boy!" Allison scoffed as the alarm went off above them.

Incessant beeping and smoke was making a tension conversation worse. Lucas wanted to fix this but Allison wouldn't allow him to move from his spot.

"No it's not like that … Isabella is my daughter. It turns out Riley was pregnant and that is why she left, to make sure I have a 'free' life," Lucas said as Allison stopped her pacing.

"A daughter? That is what is making you go back to her? That is all it takes?" Allison asked.

"Alli it's not like that!" Lucas said and stood to his feet.

He had to do something and not watch the tears fall from Allison's eyes, He turned the burners off and waved a rag around to move the smoke.

"Lucas … I need to tell you something," Allison said and Lucas looked up at her.

"Alli I know this is a lot to deal with, I am still dealing with it and I am not saying I am going to be with Riley, I just think that everything is changing so fast, and I need to focus on being a father," Lucas said.

Allison nodded slowly as Lucas talked but he could see the gears turning in her eyes. He just didn't expect her to say words he couldn't handle.

"You're right, you need to focus on being a father because I'm pregnant,"
