"Good work today, students," Mr. D saluted them, and Adrien smiled. His feet and muscles were aching, but it felt wonderful when you fenced your best. Plus, fencing did come in handy when fighting alongside M'lady.
Daydreaming as he changed, Adrien's stomach growled. "What to stop for a snack, Plagg?" he asked, heading out, finding the sky darkening towards twilight. A few flakes danced in the air. Plagg sighed from inside his gym bag. "Your not talking about Leo's are you? You want to see Marinette." Adrien chuckled. "I'll see what I can do."
Frosty blue fairy lights twinkled from outside the bakery, and warm lights spilled out onto the sidewalk, with inviting smells wafting from within. Home, Adrien thought, It feels like home.
"Adrien!" Marinette looked up in surprise from her textbook from behind the counter. "What brings you here?" "A snack," Adrien replied, rubbing his tummy, "and to see a pretty girl?" he couldn't stop the blush from blossoming on his cheeks. "I'll have a fresh pan of gingerbread coming out of the oven shortly," she told him, and she grabbed his hand. "Come into the back kitchen."
"I'm surprised your not watching the oven," Adrien teased, setting down his bag. Marinette looked confused. "Huh?" Adrien leaned forward, wiggling his eyebrows. "I've heard gingerbread man are quite the runways." Marinette laughed. "I'll cut you a slice once it cools." "Okay."
"We're you at fencing?" she asked, once they had their snacks and drinks. "Yeah, it was a good class today. I still don't know what I'll do when I'm older though. Your lucky, Marinette." he cut a slice and popped into his mouth, sighing happily.
Marinette looked thoughtful. "How about you just be yourself?" "How does that pay the bills, love?" she blushed. "I wouldn't want Adrien Agreste to be anyone but him. Kind and humble, and the best boyfriend a girl could ask for." Adrien waved a hand. "You flatter me." "I'm serious. I didn't fall in love with Adrien the model, or Adrien who was rich. I fell in love with, pure and simple."
"Sounds like good advice, Marinette. And love?" "Yes?" "I love you just the way you are too." Marinette cocked her head, eyes sparkling. "Are you trying to get more gingerbread?"
They laughed, finishing their snack.
Adrien had gone to the bakery for company and a snack, but he had gotten so much more.
