So this book will be the HTTYD book that will make up for me abandoning Assassins. Also I'll split this into several books between the tv shows and movies. But I'm stopping at 'The Hidden World' that's a fact.
Also I am open to title suggestions for this book, I drew blank on any.
Third person view
The camera panned over a large island in the middle of the night surrounded by dark blue sea and sea stacks with a decent sized forest. A few of the sea stacks were even carved to look like Vikings and had fires burning in their mouths, just to let any ships know that this was their waters. Suddenly a young boy's voice began narrating.
This is Berk. It's twelve days north of hopeless and a few degrees south of freezing to death. It's located solidly on the meridian of misery
Suddenly a wave flashed over the screen and the camera then panned over a village of wooden houses and huge flocks of sheep and yaks grazing. The terrain was rocky with some spots higher than the others but that was solved by wooden walkways. All throughout the village there were also touches to help the night patrol see better.
My village, in a word; sturdy. It's been here for seven generations but every single building is new. We have fishing, hunting and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problems are the pests
Suddenly a sheep was snatched up by something flying in the air. A sheep next to him looked up before moving to where he was grazing and began eating the grass his friend had left behind.
See most places have mice or mosquitos. We have...
A young boy about fifteen years old with brown hair and forest green eyes, wearing a light green shirt, brown pants and boots with a brown bear skin tunic opened the door to his house.
Outside he seen people and sheep running and in the air hovering over them was a large flying reptile. The reptile turned its head and seen the boy so it shot out a blast of fire from it's mouth.
The boy shut the door and threw his back against it as fire came in from the edges of the doorway.
"Dragons" the boy finished as the fire from outside stopped.
Outside several dragons were lighting things on fire and grabbing sheep while men and women brandishing weapons tried to stop them. One man even grabbed onto a sheep that was already in the talons of a dragon that was flying away as another was in the mouth of a flying dragon hitting it with a mace until it finally threw him away.
Most people would leave, not us, we're Vikings. We have stubbornness issues
The boy then ran outside with a smile on his face seeing his tribe fight.
My names Hiccup
Suddenly the Viking fell in front of Hiccup as an axe landed next to him. He immediately grabbed it and got right back into the fight.
Great name I know, but it's not the worse. Parents belive a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls. Like our charming viking demeanor wouldn't do that
Suddenly a blast in front of the boy sent him onto his back as a viking who was wielding an axe and who had been closer to the blast landed with his feet on both sides of Hiccup with a few smoking embers in his beard.
"Ahhh! Morning" he said before rushing off.
As Hiccup ran up a wooden bridge, he passed by several Vikings who were rushing back the way he had come.
"What'r doing here!?"
"Get inside!"
"Why'r you out?!"
"Get back inside!"
Hiccup was so busy looking around him, that he didn't notice a line of fire left by a dragon in front of him. Honestly he didn't even see it but was lifted up by his tunic before he could run into it.
"Hiccup! What is he doing out agai- What are you doing out? Get inside!" a large man with a huge red beard and the same green eyes said tossing Hiccup towards a building before surveying the area with a hardened gaze. Like Hiccup, he had a green tunic but his was a darker green and a bearskin cape. He also had a chainmail skirt and striped brown pants and brown boots
That's Stoick the Vast, Chief of the tribe. They say that when he was a baby, he popped a dragon's head clean off of it's shoulders. Do I believe it?
Stoick then seen a dragon flying away with a sheep in it's talons. He grabbed a flipped over trade cart before tossing it at the dragon, hitting it in the side and making it drop the sheep and screech on pain.
Yes I do
"What 'ave we got?" Stoick then asked turning towards a man.
"Gronkles, Nadders, Zipplebacks. Oh and Hoark saw a Monstrous Nightmare" he reported just as a dragon fireball exploded behind them making him drop and cover himself with a shield. Stoick however remained standing like nothing had happened.
"Any Furies?" He asked as a piece of burning wood landed on his metal shoulder pad.
"None so far" the man said still hiding under his shield as Stoick flicked the burning wood off without a care.
"Good" he said.
"Hoist the torches!" A man said as smaller torches were thrown into larger ones filled with hay. Those ones were then raised into the air so everyone could see and aim at the dragons. However it also revealed just how many dragons there were, which was a lot.
Hiccup finally arrived at his destination: the village Forge. A man with a long blonde mustache, a wooden peg leg on his right foot from his knee down and a hammer on his left hand as up to his wrist was missing. He wore a yellow-ish shirt with a brown fur tunic and brown striped pants
"Oh nice of you to join the party. I thought you'd be carried off" the man said hammer an orange piece of metal on an anvil.
"What who me?" Hiccup said shedding his bearskin tunic and putting on a brown apron. He then lifted up a square mace attachment for the man's fake arm onto a rack that was full of attachments.
"Come on, I'm way too muscular for their taste. They wouldn't know what to do with all this" he said flexing his 'muscles.'
"Well they need toothpicks, don't they?" The man said unscrewing his hammer hand before replacing it with a hook. Hiccup then went to the window and opened it as a bunch of bent weapons on the counter.
The meathead with attitude and interchangeable hands is Gobber. I've been his apprentice ever since I was little, well littler.
Hiccup picked them all up before putting them all onto embers before going over to the bellows and pulling them down, making the embers glow more and heating up the metal.
"We move to the lower defenses! Well counter attack with the catapults. And has anyone here seen my eldest?!" Stoick questioned a group of Vikings holding a shield and war hammer while the rest of them held sheep.
Nobody answered but suddenly they all heard thumping coming from up above. Looking up, they seen a nineteen year old boy with a shield in his hands running and jumping on the roofs of houses after a pair of dragons flying side by side each one carrying a sheep. He had dirty blonde hair that stopped at his shoulders and hazel eyes like those of a wild cat.
Without stopping, the boy threw his shield at the dragons like a disk. It struck the right one first in the side of the face before it bounced and slammed into the left one.
The hit made both dragons drop their sheep which were caught by the boy and thrown into an open window of a house.
"That's ma boy" Stoick said beaming with pride before he and the group began running down to the lower defenses.
Now that he had run out of houses to run on, the boy stopped and surveyed the battlefield. He had a black short sleeved tunic with a tanned leather vest and tan pants. Over that was a cape made from the fur of a black bear and on his belt were two bearded axes along with a few daggers. He wasn't built burly and big like normal viking but still had a decent amount of muscles under his clothing.
That's DJ the Dangerous, adopted son of Stoick the Vast. The perfect son, and if he had been a son by blood, the perfect heir. Fearless, selfless and always put everyone else's safety before his own
DJ then jumped off the roof and landed on a dragon that was about to shoot at a villager before he swung his axe into the neck of the beast as it thrashed and tried to throw him off.
Case in point. It's rumored that when he was just twelve years old, he cut the head clean off of a dragon that was attacking a fellow viking. Do I believe that too? Definitely. I seen it happen
Suddenly another dragon flew by and dumped a mouthful of fire onto a house near the forge.
See? Old village, lots and lots of new houses
"Fire!" a viking yelled as several teens ran passed the forge rolling a large barrel of water as Hiccup leaned out the window to watch them. All of them grabbed buckets full of water before rushing towards house fire.
Oh and that's Fishlegs
The first was a husky boy with blue eyes and short blonde hair. He wore a small helmet with equally small horns, a brown fur tunic and light brown pants and brown boots.
Snotlout
Up next was a shorter boy but he had the same muscle size as the husky boy. He had short black hair and blue eyes and he wore a black fur tunic and a sickly green shirt with light brown pants. The horns on his helmet were spiraled like those of a sheep.
The twins; Ruffnut and Tuffnut
After that was two twins, a boy and a girl, with long blonde braided hair that went down to their waists and blue eyes. The male twin wore a dark brown furred tunic and pale green shirt. He also wore light grey-blue pants and dark brown boots. Around his neck was a dragon tooth and around his forearms were cloth armbands. His helmet has four horns on the sides, two on each side and one above the other, and a line in the middle on top of his head. the top two were bull like and the bottom two resembled ox horns.
The female twin wore a animal skin mini vest with no fur on it and a dark blue shirt that ends in tatters along with a grey-ish brown mini skirt that also ends in tatters and dark brown leggings with brown boots. Also like her brother she had a dragon tooth necklace and a helmet with four horns and a line down the middle of her helmet but hers were skinnier than her brothers.
And Astrid
Up last was a another blonde girl with her hair braided in the back about halfway down her back but had bangs covering her left eye which was light blue. She wore a sleeveless shirt that was a mixture of steel blue shades with metal spiked shoulder pads and a brown-red spiked skirt. She also wore cloth around her forearms and dark blue leggings with small bird skulls around the waist of her skirt and the corners of her shoulder pads. She didnt wear a helmet but had a headband and light brown boots.
She just threw her bucket onto the fire and turned before another fireball hit behind her. As she walked away, she was joined by the others. Hiccup watched as the group seemed to walk in slow motion away from the fire. But his gaze was mostly focused on Astrid and how the fire behind her made her even more beautiful.
Oh their job is so much cooler
Hiccup tried to climb out of the window as they passed by however Gobber hooked the back of his shirt with his hook and pulled him back inside with an 'ah ah'
"Oh come on, let me out please. I need to make my mark" Hiccup said as Gobber set him down.
"Oh you've made plenty of marks. All in the wrong places" he said poking Hiccup with his blunt side of his hook hand.
"Please, two minutes. I'll kill a dragon, my life will get infinity better, I might even get a date" Hiccup said.
"Do you know what yer brother would do to me if you got killed on ma watch!? He said he'd skin me, blood eagle me and then put my skin in the outhouses for everyone to use as toilet paper. And he said that when he was ten and you just started here! At his age now, I know he can back that up. And besides all you have is short sword training and that ain't enough. You can't lift a hammer, you can swing an axe, you can't even throw one of these" Gobber said holding up some bolas.
Suddenly a viking reached in and took the bolas from Gobber and threw them at a dragon, wrapping up it's wings and causing it to fall to the ground.
"Okay fine but this will throw it for me" Hiccup said patting one of his inventions in the back room of the forge. Upon his hand landing on it however, it activated and sent a hammer flying towards Gobber.
The blacksmith avoided it as did another viking behind him but the one behind him wasn't so lucky and was knocked unconscious.
"See! This right here is what I'm talking about" Gobber said approaching Hiccup.
"M-Minor calibration issue" Hiccup muttered.
"No, no Hiccup! If you ever want ta get out there and fight dragons, you need to stop all... this" he said gesturing to all of Hiccup.
"But you just pointed to all of me" Hiccup said confused.
"Yes! That's it, stop being all of you"Gobber said.
"Ooooh" Hiccup said with narrowed eyes.
"Ooooh yes" Gobber said also with narrowed eyes.
"You sir are playing a dangerous game here, keeping this much raw viking-ness contained. There will be CONSEQUENCES!" Hiccup shouted as Gobber put a hand on his chin.
"Hmm, consequences from you or your brother. You know what? I'll take my chances with you. Sword, sharpen now" he said dropping a sword into Hiccup's arms. The boy went over to the sharpening wheel with a look of determination on his face.
One day I'll get out there. Because killing a dragon, is everything around here
The camera then focused on a group of the same dragons raided a flock of sheep. They were medium sized dragons with smooth looking skin and a curved horn on their noses and curved beaks. They stood and walked on two legs with no arms but had a hook on each wing and had a long slender tail and a crown of sharp, straight spikes on it's head angled towards the rear of the dragon.
A Nadder head is sure to get me at least noticed
The next dragons were raiding hanging fish, one of them taking the rack right out of the ground. These ones walked on all fours low to the ground and were smaller than the first dragons with bumpy, tough looking skin. They had small wings with a mace like tail.
Gronkles are tough, taking down one of those would definitely get me a girlfriend
Over at a house, a dragon with a rounded head with thin two horns on the head and a curved one on the nose was spraying a green gas inside said house through a hole in the roof. Just then, another head slithered around to the front door and knocked it open, allowing gas to flow outside. It then scraped it's teeth together, creating sparks and the house went up in an explosion. As it flew off from the explosion, it was revealed that both heads belonged to the same dragon.
Both heads were attached to long necks, with short legs but a medium sized body and round fins along their necks, down their two tails and along the spine of the back. at the end of each tail, there was a arrowhead like fin.
A Zippleback? Exotic. Two heads, twice the satus
"They found the sheep!" a viking yelled to Stoick. He along with two other Vikings were now on a large tower with a catapult.
"Concentrate fire on the lower bank!" Stoick said throwing his hammer down and rotating the catapult so it was facing the desired direction.
"Fire!" A viking yelled as the other pulls the lever. Rocks flew from the catapult and successfully hit a pair of Nadders, knocking them away from the sheep. However a shape then flew behind the tower and only Stoick noticed.
He looked around but didn't see anything in the sky but he suddenly became aware of a fire underneath them. Looking over the edge of the tower, he seen the fire was growing out of control. Yet he had seen nothing light it.
And then there's the Monstrous Nightmare. Only the best Vikings go after those ones. They have this nasty habit of setting themselves on fire
Suddenly a dragon rocketed from inside the tower with it's whole body on fire and snarling at the viking chief.
It was by far the biggest out of the dragons so far. It had horns on it's head that started as two but split off making four in total. It had claws on it's wings like a Nadder but had two on each wing instead of one and long sharp ones on it's feet. It had a long tail and along it's back, there was two rows of sails that looked like flames on each side of it's back which turned into one row to go down the tail.
Even though it didn't have four legs, it still walked using it's wings and hooks to crawl upwards towards the vikings.
"Reload! I'll take care of this" Stoick said before he hit the creature twice in the face with his war hammer. It tried to retaliate by biting him but Stoick was able to dodge.
Suddenly a loud whistle pierced the air which made man and dragon stop fighting. The Nightmare immediately left the tower as Stoick stared at the sky with a look of worry on his face.
But the ultimate prize is the dragon nobody's actually seen.
Inside the forge, Hiccup also heard the whistle and stopped sharpening the sword before looking up at the sky.
We call it the-
"Night Fury!" A viking yelled.
"Get down!" another yelled as everyone took cover under their shields or just crouched down and covered themselves with their arms.
Suddenly the catapult exploded in a purple blast as a black silhouette flew quickly over the flames. The catapult was destroyed but the tower was still intact and the Vikings still stood on there.
And where there's a Night Fury, there's always-
Lightning suddenly crackled in the clouds above the tower and another shrill whistle echoed throughout the area as Stoick's eyes went wide.
"Skrill Fury! Jump!" He commanded as he and the two Vikings jumped into the water below. As soon as their feet left the wood of the tower, another blast came from the clouds but this one was made of lightning. It struck the tower, destroying the top part of it in a huge blast of electricity.
The Night Fury never steals anything, never shows itself and
The Night Fury came around for another shot at the tower, cutting what was now left of it in half before lightning struck again.
Never misses. And the Skrill Fury? It only ever attacks after the Night Fury, they're like lightning and thunder, always one right after the other. And never shows itself, misses or steals food either. No one has ever killed a Night Fury or Skrill Fury, that's why I'm going to be the first
Hiccup then walked ovet to Gobber who unscrewed his hook hand before attaching a battle axe attachment.
"Man the fort Hiccup, they need me out there" he said going to the door. But before he went outside he turned and pointed his good hand at Hiccup.
"Stay. Put. There... You know what I mean. AHHH!" Gobber said before he let out a battle cry and hobbled into the fray.
A few minutes later, Hiccup quickly ran out wheeling his bola throwing invention, despite the protests of several Vikings who he ran by. He had also taken a short sword from the forge and tucked it to his belt.
On the other side of the village, a group of Nadders surrounded a flock of sheep. From up above on a walkway, Stoick threw a large net over them that immediately tangled them up.
"Let's get 'em!" a viking yelled as several charged at the netted dragons. However one easily burned through the rope but it's mouth was quickly closed as Stoick jumped on it.
"Mind yourselves! The Devil's still have some juice in them!" he said wrestling the dragons head to the ground.
Back with Hiccup
He finished wheeling his invention to the edge of a cliff before he opened it up and loaded it. Now all he needed was a target.
"Come on. Give me something to shoot at, give me something to shoot at" he muttered hearing the distance calls of the Night Fury.
Suddenly he seen a dark outline among the stars. It was faint but he could barely make it out. Then came the telltale piercing whistle of the elusive dragon.
Hiccup readied himself and took aim using a circle on his machine. Suddenly what remained of the tower exploded in another burst of purple and the figure flew over the flames, showing itself to Hiccup.
He aimed and fired his invention but the force of it threw Hiccup off. The bolas however flew through the air and struck something as evident by the roar. Hiccup then watched in amazement and shock as a dark figure crashed downwards towards the forest of the island.
"Oh, I hit it" he said in shock before it turned to joy and he jumped to his feet.
"Yes I hit it! Did anybody see that?" Hiccup asked turning around with his arms out and a wide smile, completely unaware of the Monstrous Nightmare crawling up the side of the cliff behind him until he heard his invention being crushed under the foot of the beast.
"Except for you" he said facing the dragon with a frown. The dragon reared up before he lunged forwards with it's jaws opened wide.
A loud high pitch scream echoed throughout the area where Stoick and some other Vikings were holding down the net full of Nadders. He looked up and seen a slender shape being chased by a Nightmare. He immediately recognized the shape and sighed before getting up.
"Do not let them escape!" He ordered his men before rushing up a wooden walkway, unaware that someone else had heard Hiccup scream and was closer to him.
Hiccup dodged blast after blast from the dragon before he finally took cover behind the pole holding up the large torch.
Fire then erupted from both sides of the pole as Hiccup unsheathed his short sword and hugged his body, not wanting his arms to get burned.
Once the fire stopped, he began looking to the right for the dragon, unaware it was coming from the left.
It opened it's mouth and was about to take a bite out of one of the Dragon Killers offspring, when a shield suddenly slammed into it's mouth sending it flying due to the dragon not being ready for the hit.
At the same time the shield made contact with the muzzle of the Dragon, an arm wrapped around Hiccup body and he suddenly found himself spinning and rolling along the ground while also dropping his sword in the process.
When he finally got his vision to stop spinning, he seen that DJ the Dangerous was now in between him and the Nightmare holding a shield.
The dragon opened it's mouth to fire so DJ crouched down to block both himself and the younger boy with the shield, but the dragon only spat out a small amount of fire that barely made it out of it's mouth. It then burped out another small amount before whimpering.
"Heh, you're all out" DJ said moving forward a with a sinister smile while taking the shield off of his arm. He then gripped it by the edge and began slamming the shield into the dragon's head, forcing it backwards away from the boy while also not giving it a chance to bite or scratch him at all. He then finished by jumping high into the air before bringing the shield down with all his might, effectively breaking it into splinters and causing the Nightmare to fly away with a monstrous headache just as Stoick and other vikings arrived.
Oh and there's one more thing you need to know...
Just as Stoick's gaze landed on Hiccup, the pole that the Nightmare had been burning broke which sent it crashing to the ground and that caused the flaming top to roll off the pole and into the village.
With each crash and yell, DJ and Hiccup cringed while Stoick's gaze hardened. Finally Hiccup glanced back at Stoick.
"S-Sorry dad" he muttered just loud enough for the chief and his brother to hear.
The head of the torch then rolled into the net which was holding the Nadders, causing the men holding it to let go and avoid the object while the dragons were able to escape with the sheep that had also been in the net with them.
Stoick, DJ and Hiccup all watched as dragons flew off with their sheep, yaks, fish and whatever else they could get their claws on that was edible. Stoick then turned his head towards Hiccup, still wearing a scowl while Hiccup looked sideways at his dad.
"Okay, but I hit a Night Fury" Hiccup said but was ignored as his dad grabbed his collar and began dragging him towards their house while DJ trailed behind them and the rest of the village gathered to see what had happened this time.
"It's not like the last few times, Dad! I mean, I really actually hit it! You guys were busy and I had a very clear shot. It went down, just off Raven Point. Let's get a search party out there, before it-" Hiccup said rambling on as he was being dragged. Finally Stoick had enough and let him go before he rounded on the boy.
"STOP! Just... stop" Stoick said as Hiccup closed his mouth, stopping what he was about to say next.
"Every time you step outside, disaster follows. Can't you see I have bigger problems. Winter is almost here and I have an entire village to feed!" Stoick yelled out.
"Eh, between you and me the village could do with a little less feeding, don't ya think?" Hiccup said as DJ immediately began laughing into his hand and several villagers put hands on their stomachs.
"This isn't a joke, boys!" Stoick yelled now mad that his oldest son had laughed, even though this was supposed to be a serious situation.
"Gods, Hiccup, why can you not follow the simplest orders?" Stoick then asked.
"I can't stop myself. I see a dragon, I have to just kill it you know. It's who I am dad" Hiccup said as Stoick sighed and shook his head once more.
"You're many things, Hiccup. But a dragon killer ain't one of them" Stoick said as Hiccup's head hung down. DJ then came up and put a hand on his shoulder making him look up at his brother.
"Not yet at least" he said with a smile which made Hiccup smile back while Stoick groaned even more now.
"And you! Why do you always encourage this behavior? He's just to going to do this again now!" Stoick said. However DJ didn't back down but instead stepped in between his father and brother.
"In case you haven't noticed, we're at war. Even sewing and baking Vikings need to know how to defend themselves, not just against dragons, but hostile tribes as well" DJ said stepping forwards.
Even though everyone knew he wasn't the blood son of Stoick the Vast, sometimes people wondered if maybe he was due to how angry both of them could get.
"I know we're at war, DJ. Which is why I don't need Hiccup helping the dragons destroy our village" Stoick said.
"Well he's just doing what he knows how to do since I'm the only one who seems to care about training him. I mean unless you plan on ending this war-" DJ said.
"I do plan on ending this war" Stoick confirmed with a growl.
"And I'm sure that's what Vikings two hundred and ninety nine years ago thought. At least they trained their all sons so they weren't killed off" DJ said.
Stoick eyes narrowed and his hand turned into a fist as DJ's did too. Neither one backed down and a few Vikings even backed up incase this turned from a normal argument to a viking argument involving weapons and blows.
However Stoick finally sighed, backing down just so it would end this stand off and he could get the day as chief started.
"Take him back to the house. I have to clean up his mess. Again" Stoick said before walking away. DJ nodded before he began escorting Hiccup to the house. While walking they heard snickers which revealed to be the twins and Snotlout while Fishlegs smiled and Astrid just stayed with a neutral face checking over her double headed axe.
"Quite the performance" Tuffnut said with a smirk.
"I've never seen anybody mess up that badly" Snotlout said. Before anyone could say anything else, DJ grabbed Snotlout and Tuffnut by the shirts and brought them close to his face.
Oh yeah, another thing. My brother is very protective
"I have. When you and your pack of idiots when you led both a Nadder herd and a boar herd into the village, that was a fun cleanup" he said before dropping the short teen and blonde twin on their rear end as all laughing and smiling from group immediately stopped.
"Hey that was last year and besides we were hunting those boars for the village" Snotlout said getting back to his feet and crossing his arms.
"And Hiccup was trying to defend his village from dragons. What's the difference?" DJ said before he kept leading his brother while also ignoring everything else from the teens, however they didn't really have any comebacks to that.
"I really did hit one, DJ" Hiccup said as the two approached two houses side by side at the top of a hill. The wood around the door and the door of the larger of the two houses was burnt but not to the point it needed to be replaced.
"I want to believe you Hiccup, but is this anything like the time you shot that Nadder in it's chest with a crossbow?" DJ questioned.
"The foot is close to the chest" Hiccup mumbled.
"Or the time you swore that spear struck that Gronkle? Or the time-" DJ continued until Hiccup cut him off.
"Okay! I get it" Hiccup said before sighing, knowing that the only proof his brother and father will believe is the head of the Dragon itself.
"He never listens" he added thinking back to their father and deciding to switch up the conversation.
"Eh, seems to run in our family" DJ said trying to cheer Hiccup up.
"And when he does its always with this... disappointed scowl. Like someone skimped on the meat in his sandwich. I don't even think he likes me, let alone loves me" he said. DJ went to say something but his brother cut him off.
" 'Excuse me, Barmaid? I'm afraid you brought me the wrong offspring. I ordered a extra large boy with beefy arms, extra guts and glory on the side. This here, this is a talking fishbone. At least the fishbone I adopted came with guts and glory' " he said imitating his father as DJ smiled. But it quickly disappeared when he remembered what Hiccup said before.
"Look, you know he loves you. He just... he's a Viking. They're hard at expressing their emotions that ain't punching, drinking and kicking" DJ said before he placed a hand on Hiccup's shoulder.
"But I have to agree with him on this. Just stop trying for now. Without any training, you'd be on a funeral boat before you kill a dragon" DJ said.
"You didn't have any training when you killed that Nightmare, three years younger than me by the way" Hiccup said.
"And I got very, very lucky. Unlike-" DJ stopped himself before he said any more.
"Unlike who?" Hiccup said noticing that his brother's mood went from concerned about him to sad.
"Nobody, a story for a different time. Look if I talk to dad about getting you some dragon training, from someone more qualified than myself, will you stay inside during raids until you've done it for some time?" DJ questioned extending his hand. This was something that they started doing back when Hiccup was just a kid, it's an unbreakable agreement but they handy used it since Hiccup was twelve and he got DJ to promise that he would teach him how to use a sword.
Hiccup sighed sadly but nodded before grabbing his brother's hand and shaking it.
"Okay fine I won't go out during a raid until I have some training. Swear to Odin" he said.
"Alright good, now I gotta get going. I'm on the hunting party today. Hopefully we get something big to resupply what we lost tonight" DJ said walking over to the smaller house and going inside.
"You know, I think maybe dad should just make you their heir. They like you a lot better and you seem more qualified" Hiccup said following his older brother but stopped at the door of the house.
"Yeah? And then I'll make you my Second in Command, so don't skip on the lessons. Besides, you're still just a kid. No one your age is qualified for anything except imagining their crush riding them like a horse" DJ said re-emerging with a bow and a quiver of arrows.
"Yeah, like the village will accept me as their Second in Command" Hiccup said, obviously trying to avoid the the ending to that conversation.
"I'll be chief! My word will be law, I'll make them accept it" DJ said puffing out his chest while also doing a voice impression of their dad as Hiccup laughed. DJ then rubbed Hiccup's hair before giving him a small hug.
"See you later 'dragon killer.' Don't do anything too stupid while I'm gone!" DJ yelled walking away from the houses.
"How can I? All the stupid is on the hunting party!" Hiccup said as DJ turned and gave him a one finger gesture. Hiccup just laughed before he went inside the larger house.
However once he was inside, he quickly grabbed his short sword that he had forgotten when the raid began before opening the backdoor.
"He didn't say anything about going outside when there's no raid" Hiccup said quietly before running off to the forest. Time to find that Night Fury.
