'Oh come on! I've fought living pieces of shit when I was a kid, and motion sickness is where I draw the line!?' A blonde man thought, clutching the sword on his hip. He was wearing a black hoodie with a bunny logo that was (thankfully) covered by a white chestplate.
That man was Jaune Arc, and he was suffering, but this time, in a bullhead.
'Ugh, maybe my semblance can give me something? ' Thought Jaune, ignoring the announcement being made by a lady's hologram. Whatever it was, he felt too dizzy to care about.
Jaune activated his semblance. In his mind, he saw a room with a golden door. He entered it and found a pedestal with a single item.
A white straw with blue spirals.
'Oh Brothers, this is useless. Why could I get any other quality two item!?' The boy wailed. The Sharp Straw was a quality two item, it could 10% of the damage a slash of his sword would cause in every ten or so seconds in a small area. The biggest problem? He had to stab himself with the straw to work.
And another problem, he was about to throw up.
"...Welcome to Beacon." He heard the projection say.
'Finally! Something good! It's finally landing.' As soon as the bullhead touched the ground, Jaune bolted out and puked his guts out in a trash can.
'Not a nice start, R Key would be good right now.' He stumbled away from the trash can. He had thrown up in a girl's shoe in his hurry, so hopefully she isn't that upset.
"VOMIT BOY! COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!"
"Ah shit, gotta roll." Jaune hurriedly activated his semblance, so he could get another item and escape.
"Lusty Blood!? That's- Not what I need now, again!" Ignoring the item and not even taking it.
"Magic 8 Ball! What's the card- Yes! It's the Fool card!" He crushed the card in his hands and then turned into thin air.
Only to appear back in the bullhead.
Behind the blonde girl he puked on.
And her friend.
"Yang, I think he's gone." A short red haired girl nudged the blonde girl.
She huffed "Fine, let's just go."
Jaune slowly backed away from the scene, only to notice that they had to follow the same path, and go to the same place.
Jaune waited some time for the girls to leave, reading the book he made on his semblance.
"Okay, so this is my first run here in Beacon, even though it hasn't really started yet, but I better write this all down." He pulled out another notebook, this one with the title "Jaune's Item History".
Day one, Beacon.
Items:
Crocea Mors (Starter Item, stats unknown.)
Sharp Straw (Area Damage= 10% Damage of a sword slash, 10 second cooldown)
Lusty Blood (Damage Booster, ammount=Enemies killed by a .5 ammount, Grimm count, people might.)
Magic 8 Ball (Increases my speed of attacking and gives one random tarot card)
The Fool (Tarot Card, single use. Teleports to the first room of current area.)
He huffed and put the notebook away. Today wasn't the day of the test, so he probably wouldn't use his semblance anymore. Better not to, unless he wants to repeat the Damocles Incident. Never again.
He kept walking, he needed to make his way into the presentation. "Woah, Beacon's so... wait a minute." Jaune looked to the ground.
'Why is there a girl in a crater? Maybe she needs help?' He took a deep breath. Oh no, interacting to people. Not good.
"Hey, uhm, you okay? Want some help?" He offered the girl, who was face down to the ground.
She moved a bit, enough to get a look at his face, and offered hand.
The girl took it, and Jaune pulled her out of the crater.
"Uh, hi..." She smiled awkwardly, expecting a name.
"Jaune Arc. You?"
"R-Ruby Rose and, uhm, nice to meet you. Thanks for helping me." She thanked, rubbing the back of her head.
"Nice to meet you too. What happen over there?" He asked curiously.
"I, well, I kind of, exploded? Hehe." Ruby was blushing from embarrassment.
"Oh. Well, don't worry about it! Explosions are cool." He said grinning, hoping to make her feel better.
"See Renny! That guy gets me!" A random girl yelled from far away, pointing to Jaune. Then she got picked up by the guy with black hair besides her.
"Nora, no."
"Aww, come on! It would be cool!"
"No."
"..." Jaune and Ruby both looked very confused.
"Uhm, what was that?" Ruby asked Jaune, hoping he knew.
"No idea. Oh, we have to go to the entrace thingy!" Jaune said.
"Right! Let's go." Ruby started walking in a random direction, hoping Jaune would guide her.
"..."
"..." Ruby did not like the awkward silence, but what to do? 'Ah! I know.' She cleared her throat and put her hand behind her cape "So, I have this!" she pulled out her weapon.
"Woah! Death's Touch?" Jaune tilted his head.
"Wha?" Ruby tilted her head along.
"Oh, sorry. Can I borrow it for a second?" Jaune asked "Just to test something." He added.
"I don't know, why do you want it?" Ruby didn't really want to give her precious baby to a random stranger she just met.
"To test it. The scythe." Jaune really wanted to test it. He needed to prove to his sister that his powers aren't just semblance bullshit, even though she isn't here at all.
"Uhh, ffffine! But be careful!" She handed him the mechashift weapon, and saw as Jaune gave a few swings and then spun it above him, then around him.
"Ha! I can use it! Take that Aqua." He muttered, handing Ruby back her weapon.
Ruby was stunned. Someone else can use a scythe!? Besides her uncle Qrow of course.
"Wait, hold up, what's your weapon!?" She was suddenly much more close to Jaune, almost hanging in his shoulder.
"It's uhm, my sword, here." He pulled out his trusty item.
"Crocea Mors was just a family heirloom, but it got attatched to my soul, and my semblance." He said, while Ruby looked over the blade and sheath.
"The sheath is the shield, just do," Jaune grabbed the item and messed with it, making the shield pop out and hit his face.
"Ow, this." Ruby giggled as he handed back the shield.
"And how do you know to use a scythe? And what was that about your semblance? Oh, and why didn't your aura protect you? Woah, what is this blade made out of? It's dented, but it look and feels like it's perfectly intact. When was the last time you sharpened it?" Ruby hopped up and down sending a barrage of questions to Jaune, who was trying to process it all at once.
"Hold up, let me answer!" Jaune instinctivelly bopped Ruby in the head lightly, a habit he picked up when his sister Grise started to ramble.
"Hey!" She said.
"Sorry. Okay, so, for your question. My semblance. It's attatched to Crocea Mors. I don't know what is Aura. I have no idea. I never sharpen it, nobody can." He huffed.
"You never sharpened it!? What kind of idiot are you!? If you don't sharpen it, the sword is gonna get dull! You want a metal bat? Then buy one! How could you disrespect this poor sword so much!?" Ruby hugged the sword like it had been hurt.
"Sharpening doesn't work, and the blade doesn't get duller. It's the material of the sword. Makes it almost unbreakable. There's a legend that it was forged with magic, and only it can break the sword! And it's attatched to my semblance, so it's weird! I do take care of my sword! You don't know how precious it is to me." He grabbed the blade and pulled it away, then he took the shield and put away Crocea Mors.
"I've been with it for a really long time. I respect it a lot, and I would have died many times without it." He had some tears in his eyes. Jaune was never really good in keeping in his emotions.
"I-... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. I just, really care about weapons. It's one of my only hobbies, there wasn't much to do in the island I grew up in. Nothing that I was allowed to do, at least." Ruby apologized, trying to show how much she cares about weapons.
"It's... It's fine *sniff*. I'm sorry to, I freaked out. Oh Brothers, I can't stop crying anymore. Damn Semblace." Jaune tried wiping away his tears, but it was too late, and an endless stream of tears came out of his eyes.
"Woah, you okay?" Ruby asked, panicking. She thought that she might have made Jaune think about something really bad, that was making him sad.
"Ugh, don't worry. It's my semblance. It's a really long story, but it's something my semblance does to help me attack." Ruby seemed skeptical, but she decided to not bother.
"Fine. Wait, where are we going?" Ruby looked around. They didn't seem near any crowds of people, which means they probably weren't going to the right place.
"I don't know, I was following you!" Jaune said, looking around.
"I was following you!"
And done! I finally managed to upload something, even if I kind of wish it was longer. Next chapter, probably tommorow or the day after.
I'm gonna be honest, I really need a beta reader and a better cover art, but I have no friends interested in fics or artistic skills, I litteraly pulled up paint and drew the cover in like five minutes. But I'll figure something out eventually. And not use paint. That's on me.
What'd you think? I don't write this for myself, I write for whoever wants to read it, so I'd be nice to know what you think, and thanks for reading.
