Hello fellow readers again, welcome to the epilogue of Volume 6 of DKR! WOOH!
Volume 6: Epilogue: The Deciding Paths!
It has been 2 weeks since everything that went down with Hueco Mundo, with Aizen, with Konoha's invasion and the fight between Yugi and Kojan. Speaking of the latter…
''Okay, you'll need to roll a 10 or-'' Both playing a game of Monopoly in between their hospital beds, Yugi and Kojan have been going at it for 3 hours and the Uchiha scowls of annoyance and boredom; completely getting nailed by Yugi's superior rolls, major properties, row of streets and houses and hotels to boot… and the fact that his right arm is in an arm cast as well as multiple bandages wrapped underneath his hospital pajamas. Yugi's last attack, not to mention the beating as a Phantom, resulted in his bones all nearly getting broken and forced to stay here.
''Okay, 1080$ for me.'' Yugi concluded when Kojan landed on a square that cost him to hit 0, going bankrupt. ''If you want, I'll take just half so we can continue the game.''
''… I remember why I hated Monopoly.'' Making an annoyed, stun expression; Kojan recalls how Yugi would always beat him in this game.
Yugi sweat drops, laughing softly as he suggests, pulling out another board game. ''Want to play Sorry instead?''
Kojan eyes him and notices that he lifted the box well with both arms.
''… You're already healed up right?'' He asks him as Yugi looks at him and smiles, responding honestly. ''Yep! Yin-Yang Dragon recovered themselves now so they've been healing me up slowly. I just wanted to hang out with my friend again.''
''…'' Kojan stares silently towards him, reflecting back at everything he did and even though he did it to protect him; a part of him just wanted revenge more than anything. Against that man Madara, against Konoha who chose to destroy the Uchiha, his own clan for wanting to start a coup; anyone who will take advantage of others. He was so obsessed to win that… that he was willingly to become a Phantom and give in to that power just to destroy everything he hated and everything he lost. And yet, he never gave up on him. Yugi gave up a piece of his life for him because he was the friend he admired.
He sighs as he then suggests to him. ''Let's play Clue. I remember you used to struggle with that one.''
Yugi blinks, actually forgetting about that but smiles. ''Sure!'' He changes board games and begins setting up Clue.
''And the others?'' The Uchiha asks about the rest of Team Dragon Knight with Yugi replying, still setting up. ''They're relaxing. They all have their own lives, right?''
''… I guess.'' He agrees with the tricolor head, and likely most don't want to talk to him. He recalled when they visited Yugi, not one of them spoke to him… well other than Ichigo, Jenny and even Ryan though it was about damn Dragon Knight questions so he didn't bother answering him. Still…
''… Thank you, by the way.'' Yugi blinks, looking back at Kojan and he smiles warmly before he responds determinedly. ''I meant what I said back then.''
Yugi turns towards the Millennium Puzzle on his bed's night table, gleaming in the corner. He frowns, recalling that thin path, the path he walked behind him. Since he beat Atem, he began walking that path alone but not forgetting what he taught him and all he showed him.
''For the longest time, I've wanted to pay him back… for showing me that even someone weak, shy yet kind like me can stand on their own two feet; that I can become as strong as him. That I can inspire others like he inspired me.'' Yugi expresses wanting nothing more but to succeed Atem. He's accomplished a lot but he still has so much to achieve.
''I still have so more to learn but…'' He then says, remembering the conversations with both his parents; he also has a dream to complete. ''Recalling my parents, I want to make a world where we all get what we want but also that the world remains the same. Even if I have to oppose fate and whoever else, I will. That's my promise to them and myself.''
Kojan is silent, staring at him not realizing how much he's grown up. He still thinks that he's naïve but it's different from his original ideal. If him being naïve can make the world a better place… then he has to start believing that is the right path. Still…
''Hey!'' The two blink, turning to see Jenny standing in the middle of the door as Yugi utters surprised. ''Nee-san!''
Jenny walks in, holding up a bag of bought food from Café Mew Mew.
''Ichigo sends these to you two.'' She explains, pulling out a container for both, handing 1 to Yugi first and then Kojan with a few pills. ''This is from me. You need to take those pills for the broken arm and leg.''
''… I appreciate it.'' Kojan thanks her humbly, not going to complain.
''And Ichigo-kun is still busy? I hope her parents aren't that mad.'' Yugi asks his sister, hoping she will come too. Jenny shakes her head. ''She said she was doing something but she never told me what.'' She then remembers something she needed to tell him. ''Oh right, someone is meant to call-''
Just as she's about to warn him, Yugi's cellphone begins ringing which shocks Jenny. ''You?''
Yugi reaches for his cellphone and sees that it's a foreign number. He has a feeling as he gets up and walks away to receive the call.
Jenny watches him walk outside before looking back at Kojan, frowning that he's not so hurt. She never got to ask him, knowing he was still recovering but this is a good time since he looks better.
''… Are you…'' She begins to ask him but bites her lips, wanting to say the right words and proceeds. ''Have you forgave yourself?''
Kojan reaches to his neck, gasping as even his left arm is covered in bandages and still in pain. Still, he manages to rub his neck as if he once felt a grip around his throat, squeezing his life since Keiko's death but now; he no longer feels anything.
''… I don't want Keiko to ever feel regret for me. Never did.'' He explains, never his intention to have dragged her soul around like a ball-and-chain. He recalls the day of his defeat as everything around him still felt blurry until he could see her… for a brief moment, smiling and then… gone. Yugi had to explain that he met Keiko's soul and how she begged him to save him. Kojan didn't know this, never felt her before and it puzzled him as being Dragon Knights; they should have felt her even for a slight moment.
Regardless, he was happy to have seen her again but this doesn't change his mission or rather his approach towards it.
''But my quest to kill Madara isn't over. Not by a long shot…'' Kojan proclaims, trying to squeeze his left hand as best as he could with a newfound determination. ''But I'll do it with my own power and my own resolve, not for revenge but to protect this world she loved too.''
Jenny smiles softly, relieved to hear that. Still, maybe… she could help him. Well, when he wants to. Kojan notices awkwardly at her blushing face and looks away, hoping she's not- No… she better not… well…
''Ishizu-kun, it's been a while.'' Yugi, walking to the hallway, talks to who else but the woman who sees the future. Indeed, it is her, answering him way back in Egypt. ''Indeed, Yugi.'' Ishizu smiles as she touches on the necklace around her neck. ''I am grateful that the Millennium Necklace warned me of your battle I warned you not long ago.''
''Thank you, by the way.'' Yugi thanks her, smiling, for that warning long ago. ''I was able to save my dear friend and change his fate.'' He slowly frowns, thinking of the black dragon. ''Right now, I have to deal with one more thing and then-''
''I tried to see your future past your battle against Kojan Uchiha.'' The tricolor head becomes alarmed by the sudden interruption from Ishizu as from her end; she looks concerned about what the Millennium Necklace showed her. ''You will fight many more opponents, many more ideals and cruelty…''
Her item only showed silhouettes of those without faces though one was innocent. ''However, a lost, lonely child of the dark will be one of them but it is not her fault. Keep that in mind.''
Yugi nods, wondering who this child will be. Lost? Dark. And not her fault? None ring a bell.
''But most of all, you will fight the Dark Lord again.'' Ishizu reveals from her end, having seen the image of the black dragon in his Chaos Form engaging the Dragon Knight but also others. In one of them is Yugi nearly getting slashed apart by something small, something fast and purple resembling a dragon in a suit of sorts. ''You will also confront someone of great shame and disgust in myself, connected to you from the past, present and future. Someone you need to remind of his true self.''
She then sees another, a man walking forward before strapping something on his waist and then transforms into something… pink but frightening like something that shouldn't exist in this world. ''And be on your toes against a magenta foe, one who will judge your actions.'' She warns him, not able to provide not much detail.
Yugi raises an eyebrow on that one. Magenta? He turns back to the door, watching Jenny talking to Kojan. No. So it has to be someone else but who else would judge his actions? He just shakes his head as he then questions her. ''… And then…''
It's then that Ishizu is silent, frowning from her end as that is the reason why she called him.
''All I see is darkness and despair, so much of it…'' She begins to explain to him as the item has not shown her anything or rather it has and… and it is a bad omen. ''But I will say this; I felt death and feeling death from someone means one thing…''
Yugi is silent, once more recalling Sailor Pluto's warning of his death. Is that what she feels too? He sighs as he responds. ''… I understand.'' He smiles, thanking her. ''Thank you, Ishizu-kun. Keep me posted if things change okay!''
Ishizu responds that she will and informs him of any new changes. With that, the call ends.
''…'' Silent; Yugi looks at his cellphone, showing the image of him and Ichigo together. He finally told her how he loves her truly and even wants to be with her forever. That's why… he can't let whatever might happen to him from happening or the world's end.
''… I won't die. No one will.'' He decides, going to do all in his power to ensure his life and of everyone else while still staring at their photo. ''I… I promise.''
He makes one more call to Ichigo, wanting to know if she's doing okay but no connection with the message being that her phone is turned off. Yugi frowns, looking at his phone as he says to himself. ''I wonder how you're doing, Ichigo-kun.''
Ichigo is walking alone in the forest, holding on to her phone, wanting to turn it on and call Yugi but she can't, not right now.
''Yugi-kun…'' She mutters, hoping to spend so much time with him but first she needs to become so much stronger before he gets out of the hospital. He's grown and ascended so much that like not long ago; she feels like she's holding him back. She couldn't do anything against Deep Blue and Mew Blackberry, be a threat to Aizen or Kojan and now the Dark Lord and Sasuke have become just as stronger. She needs to become strong, just like Yugi, just like everyone else; she needs to try. But she didn't know who else could help her… until-
''You're late.'' The red cherry head startles, quickly putting her phone away. She turns to her side, unease and sees Evangeline, waiting for her with her arms crossed and floating in the air, posing as if sitting on a chair.
Ichigo glares nervously before she tries to calm down and finally responds. ''… I didn't want anyone follow me and spot us together, Eva-chan.''
The Vampire Mage gazes at her, respecting that decision but not the damn nickname.
''That's McDowell-sensei to you, young lady.'' She corrects her, floating towards and lands in front of her, smirking evilly. ''Anyway, shall we resume your training?''
Ichigo stares at anxiety, not wanting to do this but… she's her best bet to help Yugi-kun and the others.
''… I'm doing this…'' The uncomfortable heroine tries to speak up, trying to put up a strong face. ''Because I want to protect Yugi-kun and everyone I love Nya.''
''And your revenge towards that Mew Blackberry too, right?'' Evangeline, however, taunts her with a small smirk for the real other reason behind the offer. Ichigo looks at her, for a brief moment, her eyes turn into the savage slit feline cat eyes of the Inner Tiger. This convinces the mage, giggling as she walks past her.
''Come…'' She tells her as Ichigo breathes heavily, trembling as she turns around and follows her towards the dark forest. ''My apprentice.''
In a dark room across the other side of the world, within a small village, Shadow Knight walks out from the darkness of the room. His arms are crossed, his focus towards a small figure of some kind of human shape, staring outside of the bright night sky. The small thing is carrying a bowl of rice as well as a pair of chopsticks.
''… Any reason why you summoned me?'' The masked knight questions the small figure who's been eating his meal. He takes a few seconds before stopping himself, chewing and then speaks up with a calm tone. ''I want to know how it went. Did Kojan-kun win?''
Shadow Knight doesn't answer as the figure resembles eating. It's then that he does answer. ''… He lost, actually.''
This news shocks him, instantly slipping and dropping his chopsticks onto the ground. Shadow Knight looks down at them before questioning him. ''Are you really that surprised he lost?''
''… Extremely…'' The figure responds, putting away the bowl into his hat. He growls, not believing this. Kojan was trained under him and he lost? By him? ''… And the one that beat Kojan-kun is the boy, yes?''
Shadow Knight nods as he's referring to Yugi and proceeds to tell him. ''He gained the true power of his Dragon Blade, he's learned and used Yin-Yang Dragon's true power, he outmatched Sosuke Aizen-kun and he defeated Kojan-kun who went as far to become a Phantom to be stronger and still lost.''
The small figure looks down on his seat, clinching his right hand that resembles a claw. He can't believe that boy attempted to become a Phantom. So much for teaching him that despair is bad and yet he is still lost?
''You used to believe that miracles were possible if you have the heart and passion to overcome the impossibility.'' Shadow Knight begins to remind him of his old way of thinking. ''That across your immortal life that if there's any being who can overcome the odds and find hope; it is the Dragon Knight. This is the Dragon Knight you wanted to meet; the one who has the power to change fate.''
There is an awkward silence, a solid minute before the figure adjusts his fedora cat. ''… You're right.'' He proclaims calm and yet his voice sounds disdainful. ''I used to believe in such nonsense.''
Shadow Knight sighs a bit, figuring that wouldn't work. The figure continues saying, his voice grimmer than madder. ''And I already met someone who I believed was the one… and he died along with the woman he loved. His son doesn't deserve to go through the same horror they did. Never again.''
He then suddenly finds himself floating behind Shadow Knight, moving so fast that no human would have reacted to it.
''Shadow Knight-kun…'' The purple scaled figure begins to proclaim, adjusting his fedora downward with a single pull of his claw. ''I'm going to go with Plan B then and when I'm ready…'' It's then that he vanishes but not his final words, echoing the room. ''Don't get in my way.''
Shadow Knight now stands there, alone, but nods to his orders.
''… As you wish…'' He affirms his command as he knew it would come to that… but Yugi will be put in an even more dangerous fight than before as he calls out the one he follows. ''Dragonic-kun.''
To be continued… In Volume 7!
WELL… Time to say my thanks to all of my fewer reviewers who reviewed DKR and happy you do because it tells me I am doing a good job or stuff I can improve on. Maybe next time I will have more reviewers. Also thanks to all viewers as well.
Volume 6 was as short as it had to be and I am GLAD. Honestly, I am relieved to have covered all I wanted for this volume and ended the volume in such a way.
… Now I am dreading Volume 7. I MEAN… It is not as long as I would put it, especially since I will have to shrink a lot of the content I had planned for but it will still be a lot. More than Volume 5? … No, thankfully, sort of.
SO… Volume 7 should start…less than 8-9 Months from now? Maybe less! I HOPE. I will update you guys on it.
SO NEXT TIME IN DKR: A lot to cover, a lot of stuff I wanted and MUST do, we will get the DP arc I promised (SORT OF), the arc of Kisara's adoptive father (HMM) and we might count some medals too, and even covering the next arc of Sailor Moon. Most importantly, the final arc is very long as you can imagine and as thrilling as it will be with a certain Immortal Dragon, a dark path, betrayal, lies and a massive showdown where bonds can survive the worst, even love. Oh and we will return to how Yugi will deal with Light or if he can stop him, well if he can.
In a week or two, I will upload the Volume 6 Special AND Before Volume 7 drops, I will do the 6th Word of the Dragon Knight.
Speaking of, please leave me questions that I can answer on this Volume's Word of the Dragon Knight. Any questions that will not spoil the next Volume I will answer!
See you all Next Time!
TO BE CONCLUSION... In Special 6!
