"Boss, you need to see this!" Victor burst into my office during the lunch hour, seeming rather panicked and somewhat shocked. Raising an eyebrow, I gesture for him to come forward. Victor crosses the rustic office, his Italian shoes tapping against the oak floor as he hands me a smartphone. The first thing I notice is Inaru's face and a powerful and rebellious energy of anger and retlessness emanating from her image alone. Intrigued, I press play and her voice fills the room with this energy alongside a mixture of alternative punk rock. My gaze hardens as the lyrics register in my mind, watching those enticing plump lips move as they sing.
"Do you see their tricks, do you feel what they've done?
They've stolen your energy, trapped you beneath the sun.
Forced to believe there's only one
Human Vibration!"
"How the hell does she have this information?" I growl, seething with internal rage- does this woman know what could happen to her as a result of sharing this information? She was playing with fire, trying to reveal the truth to the public. Yes, the leaders of the hidden and high societies were indeed trapping the people in a human cycle of reincarnation for our own benefits... but how had Inaru figured this out? And what did she seek to gain from telling the public?
Ramone, my close friend who had been visiting during his time in Italy, had been listening in. His expression was unreadable as he seemed to process the lyrics, "Alex, I doubt the public will glean from this the true story- I don't see anything to worry about. She will eventually be silenced by someone, so let her have her fun for now."
"You don't understand, Ray- that woman..." I pause, realizing I had almost revealed my true intentions. I clench a fist on the dark mahogany desk, "That woman is mine- I've had my eye on her for a while, and I intend to bring her into the family."
"Her?" Ray raises a skeptical eyebrow, glancing between me and my right hand man, "You're telling me that the Great Alexander- cold, ruthless, and stern, wants... that ecclectic woman who looks like a Gothic rennaisance knockoff...? How do you know she can even handle this life- and what if she's married? You can't just abduct some random woman and force her to marry you." He looks at me with bewilderment, "What has gotten into you, Alex? This woman must be something special to get your attention this much."
"You have no idea my friend," I reply cryptically before turning to Victor, "Have preparations made, we leave in a few hours."
"Yes, boss," Victor nods once before leaving to make the neccessary arrangements.
