Inaru Hanshite
"You chose an Italian name?" the parasite asked within my mind as I lock the room door, placing a cup over the handle as a precaution. If someone tried to get in, the cup would fall and alert me as I slept.
"Yeah- It's one of my alters' names," I explain as I strip out of my damp clothing, tossing them over the radiator in the room to dry before moving into the adjoined bathroom to shower, "Torre Cadente- falling tower. She is the protector of my DID system- unpredictable and unapologetic... She can be a tease sometimes."
"I'd like to see that," he replies with a low chuckle as I turn on the water.
That causes me to straighten up in surprise, "Did you just- was that a flirt?!"
I hear a hearty laugh within my mind before the parasite replies in a cryptic tone, "You humans are so easily caught off guard."
My cheeks turn pink in an embarrassed expression as I mumble, reaching my hand into the water to see if it was warm enough, "That's not funny..."
"Yes it is," he replies smugly and I can feel his energy shifting around inside of my body. It was strange to feel this being exploring the inside of my body, almost bringing up other thoughts. Then I realize with a jolt of embarrassment, "I don't even know your name..."
"You may call me Xo'oth," he replies through the mind link, seeming to enjoy my embarrassment as I step into the hot water letting out a deep sigh of relief as the steamy water pour down my curvy form, relaxing my muscles.
"Xo'oth, huh?" I muse, reaching for the shampoo, "Sounds like something from Doctor Who, honestly..."
I hear a chuckle in my head, "Considering I am technically an extraterrestrial, that isn't far off. I come from a planet called Libella, where my people coexist with another race called the Firron. My people are called the Anis."
A thoughtful hum escapes as I lather my hair, "Interesting..."
A moment of silence passes before I hear his voice in my head again, "Yknow, you are very adaptable for a human."
That earns a short bark of laughter as I grab the shower gel, "Yeah, well, it's adapt and survive, or fall into fear and ... well, the alternatives aren't great- especially given that we're on the run."
"This is true," he laughs as well, "But how do you intend to fight them?"
"By targeting the neets," I reply in a knowing tone, a grin spreading across my lips as I scrub my body, "I'll head down to the library in the morning and post the next chapter of the Zodia Choronicles."
"A fanfiction?" he sounded skeptical and I couldn't help laughing softly, "You intend to fight them using fanfiction?"
"Of course not," I let out a quiet groan of relief as I rinse off, the hot water feeling amazing on my skin, "The fanfiction is part of an arg meant to bring truth to the people, as well as teach how to access energies- the conspiracy theorists will notice it and run with the info. In the meantime, I intend to train in combat both physical and energetic- I need to find a way to Russia. They're the good guys, trying to help free everybody."
There was a moment of silence before he commented with a hint of surprise, "You are quite observant and perceptive to pick up on the things others seem to miss- and incredibly clever as well. May I ask why you are targeting the recluse population?"
"Easy," I reply, beginning to explain as I shut off the water and step out of the shower to dry off, "They are the underdogs- the ones with hidden skills attributed to anime, cartoons, video games, etc. They'll be the first to come running into battle, excited to use their skills for a change- and the last to appear once the dust settles from the final battle. Thus, the seeds of a free and open world will have been sown, and the warriors will be ready for battle. They are the ones who have spent their time in worlds that still hold the fires of motivation, determination, and authenticity- they'll know exactly what's needed because they'll have seen every form of battle possible."
"That's... almost genius..." he seemed taken aback by my explanation as I put on a hotel robe and begin to brush my hair. Once finished, I go into the room where a small refreshments area was set up with teas, coffe, and snacks. Using the k-cup machine, I brew a cup of chamomile as I focus my energy. This was a nightly ritual for me- having tea with Lord Hypnos, and Xo'oth seemed to sense this as I begin to feel the primordial god's energy surround me.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that one must always respect the deities and their domains- or else you end up on the recieving end of some very intense energetic lessons(and trust me, that isn't fun). After sipping the tea slowly and mentally conversing with the god of dreams, Xo'oth seeming surprised that I was able to do this, I settle into bed to sleep while my clothing finished drying on the radiator.
