Chapter 10: It's Time To Glamrock!

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!

The sudden knocking on Monty's green room door made us freeze in place, abruptly breaking the kiss we'd been enjoying. I could feel my heart pounding as we exchanged wide-eyed glances.

"Monty? Are you in there? Why is your door locked?" It was Roxy's voice, sharp and impatient. "You have a meet and greet in like ten minutes!"

Great. I groaned internally. Just what we needed.

Monty let out a low, frustrated growl, running his claws through his mohawk. "Why can't I just sit here and make out with my boyfriend all day?" he muttered under his breath, his voice low enough that only I could hear. The grumpy pout on his face was both ridiculous and endearing.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes and giggle. "I know how you feel, big guy."

His expression softened slightly, but the melancholy lingered in his yellow-green eyes. "I wish you could stay here longer, Elijah," he said, his voice dipping into a rare vulnerability.

"Me too," I admitted, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. "But you've got fans waiting out there who'd kill for even five minutes with you. Don't want to disappoint them, right?"

Monty sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping. "Yeah, yeah. Guess you're right. Still sucks."

"It does," I agreed, brushing a hand along his snout. "But I'll be here when you're done, okay? We'll find some time."

His tail swished behind him, betraying the flicker of excitement my words sparked. "You promise?"

I nodded with a grin. "Promise."

The knocking came again, louder this time. "Monty! Hurry up! Freddy's getting antsy because the line's backing up!"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming!" Monty barked back, irritation creeping into his tone. He turned to me, his smirk returning as he leaned in for one last quick kiss. "Guess I'll see you later, handsome."

"You better," I teased, stepping back as he moved toward the door. Monty unlocked it with a flick of his claws, and as soon as it swung open, Roxy's piercing glare greeted us.

"Finally," she huffed, crossing her arms. Her sharp gaze shifted to me, and she raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing here, Elijah? Don't you have work to do?"

"Today is my day off," I replied smoothly, slipping past her before she could interrogate me further. "Don't let him be late, Roxy."

Her eyes narrowed suspiciously, but she didn't press it. Instead, she turned her attention back to Monty, who was already strutting out of the room like the rockstar he was. "Come on, alligator. Time to glamrock."

As they headed down the hallway, I couldn't help but smile to myself. Even with all the chaos and secrecy, moments like these made everything worth it. Monty might have his stage to own, but I knew I had a special place in his world—and he had one in mine.

I was starting to get bored in my secret animatronic boyfriend's green room. With that, I headed over to Glamrock Foxy's new green room to see how the room was and to also check up on the new member. It's been a week and a half since his arrival. I knocked on his door and patiently waited.

"Who's there?" I heard him ask as I heard footsteps walk closer to the door.

Glamrock Foxy's green room door opened, revealing the somewhat tall animatronic. He looked down at me through his star eyepatch, while his long, wavy and fluffy red hair slightly moved.

"Oh, it's just you Elijah! Hello there, matey!" Glamrock Foxy warmly smiled at me.

"Hey, Foxy," I greeted him with a small wave. "I just thought I'd stop by and see how you're settling in. It's been a while since we've had a chance to talk."

Foxy stepped aside, gesturing for me to enter. "Come on in, lad. Always nice to have company, especially when it's a friendly face."

I stepped into the green room, immediately struck by how different it felt compared to Monty's. The walls were adorned with nautical decorations: maps, compasses, and even a faux steering wheel mounted on one side. The lighting was dim, giving it the cozy ambiance of a ship's cabin.

"Wow, you've really made this place your own," I said, looking around. "It's like stepping onto a pirate ship."

Foxy chuckled, his mechanical tail swishing behind him. "Aye, I wanted it to feel like home. The tech crew's been real kind in helping me get it just right."

"How's everything been?" I asked, leaning against the edge of a table that looked like it had been styled to resemble a treasure chest. "Adjusting okay?"

He nodded, his smile softening. "It's been good, matey. Everyone's been welcoming. Freddy's a real stand-up chap, and Chica's always got a plate of snacks ready. Roxy… well, she's got her moments. Bonnie's been really nice and helpful with showing me the ropes. And Monty…" He paused, his single eye glinting mischievously. "Let's just say he's protective of ya."

I felt my cheeks heat up. "Yeah, he can be a bit much sometimes."

Foxy let out a hearty laugh. "Don't worry, lad. It's endearing. Shows he cares."

We chatted for a while longer, Foxy sharing stories about his travels—or at least the ones he'd been programmed to remember. It was easy to lose track of time in his company, his warm personality making him easy to talk to. That was until he asked me the question.

"So, uh, can I ask ye a question, lad?" Foxy awkwardly rubbed the back of his head.

"Yeah, of course!" I smiled with a hint of being naive in the tone of my voice.

"There's, uh, been rumors going around that a well-known pop star is now working here ta hide out from- something", Glamrock Foxy began.

The smile from my face started to fall. People are talking about this?! Please don't ask if it's me!

"They're saying it's you. Is that true, lad?" Foxy asked curiously.

Shit.

I hesitated to respond at first. "Y-Yeah it's me", I huffed out a defeated sigh.

There was a heavy silence that filled the air for a bit. You've got this. I breathed out to myself in my mind.

"Ya don't have ta tell me about it, lad. I-I was just curious, Elijah", Glamrock Foxy sheepishly smiled.

"It's okay, I'll tell you. Everyone else already knows", I softly smiled at the animatronic pirate fox. I sat down on the nautical-themed couch in his room.

"Okay", Foxy sat down next to me on the couch.

"It's true, I used to be a well-known out and proud pop and R&B singer. The hiding part is also true. I've had to give up the fame and everything else because of my psychotic ex, Andrew. He blew up my house and threatened Scarlett, my former stage manager, and her twin children. He killed their father. It's been so stressful. Being here, I can let go of everything and be happy". I felt the tears falling down my face.

That was when I felt synthetic fur that was warm and fuzzy against my cheek. Glamrock Foxy was hugging me. I hugged the fox pirate back. Foxy held me in his arms, his synthetic fur soft against my tear-streaked face. For a machine, his touch carried an odd sense of comfort, like he truly understood.

"Elijah, I'm sorry ye had to go through all that," Foxy said, his voice low and full of sympathy. "No one deserves that kind of torment."

"Thanks, Foxy," I murmured. "It's hard. Sometimes I feel like I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop, like Andrew's still out there watching, waiting to ruin everything again."

Foxy pulled back slightly, his good eye-locking onto mine. "But yer safe here, lad. No harm's gettin' past us animatronics. Not while we're around. I swear on me captain's honor."

I couldn't help but chuckle through the tears. "Captain's honor, huh? You're really taking this pirate thing to heart."

"Aye, that I am!" Foxy grinned, standing up and puffing out his chest dramatically. "Every ship needs a loyal captain to keep the crew safe, and I reckon that's me role 'round here!"

The playful tone lifted the heavy mood a bit. I wiped at my face, grateful for the distraction. "You know, I think you're fitting in better than you think. Everyone here seems to like you."

Foxy's smile softened, and he sat back down beside me. "I'll admit, it's nice to be part of a crew again. I spent a lot of time in storage, forgotten. Makes a pirate feel a bit… lost at sea, if ye catch me drift. But ye and the others, ye've given me a place to belong."

"Well, you belong here now," I said, offering him a genuine smile. "And I'm really glad you're here, Foxy. You make things feel… a little less lonely."

Foxy's ears perked up, and he leaned back with a playful smirk. "Ah, now yer makin' me blush, matey. Careful, or the rest o' the crew'll think ye've got a soft spot for this ol' pirate!"

I laughed, the tension in my chest easing just a little. "Maybe I do," I teased, nudging his arm.

The two of us sat there in comfortable silence for a moment before Foxy glanced at me with a more serious expression. "Elijah, if there's ever somethin' ye need—whether it's talkin' or just some company—ye know where to find me. Pirates stick together, aye?"

"Aye, Captain," I replied with a small salute, earning another hearty laugh from him.

For the first time in a while, I felt like I could breathe again. Then, I saw another playful smirk on Glamrock Foxy's face.

"Say, lad. Can you sing me a song?" Glamrock Foxy chuckled.

"W-Wait what?" I was kind of taken aback by the request.

"Ye heard me. Show me that stardom that ye have", Foxy laughed at my sudden stage fright.

"Alright, let me think real quick", I chuckled at the animatronic fox's persistence.

My fingers fumbled to unlock my phone, scrolling through the playlist of tracks I'd recorded over the years. I stopped at one that had always been a favorite of mine, a song that once cracked the Billboard Top 50. It was called Dangerous Lovin', featuring none other than Tyler, The Creator. Yeah, I know—Tyler and I had worked together. No big deal. Well, kind of a big deal.

I pressed play, and the catchy bassline filled the air, the green room's neon lights seeming to pulse in time with the rhythm. Glamrock Foxy perked up immediately, his ears twitching to the beat as he leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees. His grin widened, encouraging me to start.

Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and let the music guide me.

"Boy, you got me spinning in a hurricane
Your touch is like fire running through my veins
I know I shouldn't play with this flame, oh no
But the way you look, got me losing control

You're a wild card, a shot in the dark
A rush to my head, you're stealing my heart
It's reckless, it's bold, but I want it, I crave it
Even if it breaks me, I just gotta taste it"

I glanced up mid-verse and couldn't help but grin. Foxy was already grooving along, his animatronic head bobbing with a surprising rhythm. Encouraged, I pushed through the rest of the verse with growing confidence.

As I transitioned into the pre-chorus, I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye. Freddy, Roxy, Bonnie, and Chica peeked through the door, drawn in by the music. Even Monty wandered in, his arms crossed as if he wasn't impressed—but the subtle tap of his foot gave him away.

"Ooh, you're my high, my low
Like a storm, I can't let go
You're my sweetest sin, baby, let it begin"

Usually, during the pre-chorus, the beat sped up just a little bit as a build-up to the chorus. My cheeks flushed. Monty hadn't heard my original stuff before, and honestly, his opinion mattered to me more than I cared to admit.

"This dangerous lovin', we're dancing on the edge
Heart's racing, I'm falling, no safety net
You're poison, you're heaven, I can't get enough
Oh, this dangerous lovin', I'm caught in the rush"

"Every word you whisper is a melody
Pulling me closer like gravity
You're a red light, but I still run through
Can't stop myself when it comes to you

It's a thrill, it's a ride, it's a spark in the night
One look in your eyes, and I'm ready to dive
No rules, no fear, let the chaos ignite
Even if it's wrong, it feels so right"

By the time I hit the chorus, the entire room had turned into a makeshift dance floor. Chica twirled dramatically, her bright feathers catching the light, while Freddy clapped along with surprising enthusiasm. Even Monty, who usually wore a permanent scowl, cracked a small smirk. Foxy was the life of the party, throwing his hands in the air and stomping one booted foot in time with the beat.

"Ooh, you're my high, my low
Like a storm, I can't let go
You're my sweetest sin, baby, let it begin"

"This dangerous lovin', we're dancing on the edge
Heart's racing, I'm falling, no safety net
You're poison, you're heaven, I can't get enough
Oh, this dangerous lovin', I'm caught in the rush"

I couldn't stop smiling as I sang, my voice blending seamlessly with the upbeat track. When Tyler's verse came on, I shifted into background vocals, adding harmonies to enhance the effect.

"Boy, you got me hooked like a habit I can't fuckin' quit
Addicted to your fire, I'm a slave to every hit
You're my ride-or-die, no parachute on this flight
We're burning bright, baby, even in the dead of night

You're the risk I take, the thrill I chase
Got my heartbeat fast like we're running a race
Danger in your smile, but I'm loving the pain
Bitch, I'd do it all again—yeah, call me insane"

As the song transitioned into the bridge, I closed my eyes again, losing myself in the music. The lyrics hit differently here, their intensity amplified by the quiet hum of the animatronics' movements.

"We're a spark in the dark, we're a love on the run
Living like tomorrow might never come
It's crazy, it's chaos, but I'm holding on so damn tight
Baby, you're my one-way ticket to the wild side"

I stretched the final note of the bridge, letting it linger in the air before diving back into the final chorus. The energy in the room was electric now—Freddy and Chica had linked arms, spinning each other around like kids at a school dance, while Foxy led Monty in a comically over-the-top waltz. I almost forgot I was performing for a room full of sentient machines and not an arena full of fans.

"This dangerous lovin', we're dancing on the edge
Heart's racing, I'm falling, no safety net
You're poison, you're heaven, I can't get enough
Oh, this dangerous lovin', I'm caught in the rush"

While singing the last chorus, I extended some of the words. Once it hits the end of the song or the outro, that's when the beat slows down.

"This dangerous lovin', it's tearing me apart
But I'll keep chasing you, even in the dark
You're poison, you're heaven, I can't get enough
Oh, this dangerous lovin', it's the only thing I trust"

As the outro faded and the beat slowed, I sang the final lines with a softer, almost bittersweet tone.

The room fell into stunned silence for a beat after the song ended, the last echoes of the bassline fading into the stillness. Then, like a switch had flipped, the green room erupted in cheers and applause. Freddy gave me a thumbs-up, his friendly grin stretching wide. Chica clapped enthusiastically, her mechanical feathers flapping with each movement. Even Monty nodded approvingly, though he quickly masked it by crossing his arms again.

"Blimey, lad!" Foxy exclaimed, slapping his knee with a loud clang. "That was somethin' else! Ye got the pipes to match the charts, that's for sure."

I laughed, my face burning from the praise. "Thanks, Foxy. Glad you all liked it."

"Liked it?" Chica chirped, spinning toward me. "It was amazing! You should perform with us sometime!"

Freddy nodded in agreement. "You'd be a hit, superstar."

"You wrote that by yourself?! You need to teach us how to sing like that, runt!" Roxy chuckled, while Bonnie gave me a friendly side hug.

"I will, just let me know when you want the help!" I laughed at the enthusiasm.

I walked over to Monty with a big smile. Monty muttered something under his breath.

"What was that?" I chuckled with a smirk and lightly nudged him with my elbow.

"I think you're really talented", Monty retorted through his teeth.

I rolled my eyes and laughed, "Why thank you, big guy". I jokingly bowed, which earned me a snort from the handsome gator.

My chest swelled with pride. For once, the pressure of the world melted away, replaced by the warmth of acceptance and the thrill of doing what I loved. There still was a bit of a sting though on my heart. I missed being there for my fans and having concerts of my own. Not knowing I brought the attention back to me, I let a heavy sigh slip out from my lips. I think both Freddy and Monty picked up on it because the bear embraced me first, which prompted Monty to do the same.

"What's wrong, superstar?" Freddy looked at me with a bit of concern.

"I-I still miss my old life when I adored my fans and I had my own concerts. I just wish I could've stayed single, then I wouldn't have to deal with Andrew and his bullshit", I was trying so hard not to ruin the happy moment we all had.

I felt Monty pull me closer to him. Then, I felt more arms embrace me. All of the other Glamrocks joined in the group hug.

"It's okay that you miss being the pop star, I know all of us would be the same if we were in your position, princess", Monty comforted me in his arms. The others all nodded in agreement.

This made me fall in love with Monty all over again. He just knew what to say when I needed it. For the first time in a long while, I felt like I truly belonged. I knew the bond I had made with these advanced animatronics couldn't make me more happier than before.
