Charlie Velazquest, he was six. He wore pink cutaway tails, a top hat, and an pink bow around his neck. He carried a walking stick and looked for all the world like he was going to break out into the Charleston at any moment. Charlie was a good kid, like his other half Larry, but you see, Charlie had this thing about being the center of attention: He loved it. He lived for the spotlight and loved, loved, loved all eyes being on him.
Then one day he found his calling, he went on a field trip to a magic show.
The Amazing Brailster was the magician he saw, "And for my next trick, I'll need a bold audience member willing to be," He pulls out a saw, "sawed in half." Everyone cheers, "How 'bout you, young man?"
A spotlight dawns on Charlie, who gaps.
Charlie walks onto the stage. The crowd cheer and applaud.
The Amazing Brailster bows to Charlie, "Since you're my assistant, you should wear the hat." He takes the hat off his head and gives it to Charlie, but when he tries to put it on, water spills out of it, all over him, everyone laughs at this. As Charlie wipes it off, The Brailster offers him a hanky from his sleeve, "Handkerchief?"
Charlie pulls the hankies and at the end, he finds his own shirt, everyone laughs again, and Charlie grabbed his shirt and had stars in his eyes.
Charlie put on his shirt, "How did you do that?"
Brailster smiled and pated Charlie's head, "A magician never reveals his secrets."
After that day he learned to do magic tricks. Oftentimes, they were clumsy and poorly executed. Charlie loved card tricks but could never "pick" your card. If you had an ace of spades, he'd say you had a queen of hearts. However as time passed he got better and learned more advanced tricks.
Breakfast time at the Velazquest House. Johnny serves pancakes in front of Sammy.
Luis sat down and stared at the pancakes, "Save some for me."
Delilah eyes turned into stars, "Yum yum yum yum yum! Oh! Dibs on the one that looks like Sammy!" She takes the Sammy-shaped pancake.
Larry pouted, "Hey, no fair! I wanted the Sammy one!"
Sammy looks annoyed, "Why I outta!"
Delilah laughs and eats the Sammy-shaped pancake.
David takes the rest of the pancakes, Yeah time to yeah time to protein up!"
Suddenly, Charlie appears next to him in a puff of smoke and then covers the pancakes with a cloth, "Now you see them..." He removes the cloth, revealing the pancakes are gone, "Now you don't! Shazam!"
David stares in shock, "Thanks! That was delicious!"
As David leaves his seat, humming, Charlie reveals he had actually taken the pancakes while he wasn't looking.
Charlie jumps, "David! Wait, I wasn't done with my act!"
David rubs his chin, "But why am I still hungry?"
Charlie throws a smoke bomb in front of David, "I hope you guys like my magic? With all of my practicing I'll be doing shows in Las Vegas in no time!"
He throws another smoke bomb. When it dissipates, he disappeared. David gasps in shock.
Back at the table, he takes an egg out of Luis's hair, "Ta-da!"
Luis jumped, "Surprised gasp!"
Leo chuckled, "Hey, Houdini! Where are the pancakes?" He shows the empty plate.
Charlie looked confused, "I put them back. Where they go?"
A sudden thud shakes the table. They look under the table and find Sammy and Frankie eating the pancakes.
Frankie smirked, "Charlie's not the only one who can make stuff disappear."
Sammy burped.
Suddenly a loud thud is heard, causing everyone to yelp in shock. A dove has rammed herself into the window, carrying a piece of paper, and slides down as she lands on the ground.
Charlie tiled his head, "It's a dove holding a note?"
A knock is heard at the door.
Charlie opens the door and the now dazed dove flies inside. She drops the note in Charlie's hands and then collapses on his head.
Charlie unfurls the paper and dust blasts from the paper, "It's for me." He reads it, "No way! I've been chosen to be the Amazing Brailster's new junior illusionist!? But how you need to audition for this?"
Milton piped in, "I guess he liked my audition tape I made for you?"
Charlie was confused, "We made a audition tape?"
Milton blushed, "W-Well I had videos of you doing magic so I sent one to the Illusion Chateau."
Charlie smiled and hugged Milton, "Milton you're so cool! I'm gonna get to learn all the Brailster's tricks and perform at the Illusion Chateau!"
Delilah walked to the group, "So it's like a this super-exclusive clubhouse where all the greatest magicians perform?"
Charlie nodded happily, "And now me!"
After Charlie found when he was supposed to go to the Illusion Chateau grabbed his things put them in his backpack and went out into the hall. Charlie found his other half Larry. Larry the older twin by (10 seconds) liked cowboy movies, so he liked to dress like one. Today, he was wearing chaps, a western style vest, and a cowboy hat and boots. Delilah and the others mocked and made fun of him quite a lot for the way he dressed. They had all sorts of nicknames for him. The Crybaby Kid; The Lame Ranger; Sheriff Woody; and Charlie's favorite - The Black Buckaroo.
He couldn't help himself, the moment he saw Larry standing there, he had to dive in and pick on him.
"Howdy, pardner," Charlie said and tipped his hat.
Larry glared at him, "I don't talk like that." He said coldly.
"I reckon you don't." Charlie said, "You better saddle up your horse and get on down to the saloon. It's almost chow."
Flashing, Larry kicked Charlie in the shin. The tip of his boot crashed into Charlie's bone and sent a shockwave of pain through him. Charlie yelped and grabbed his leg, hopping up and down on one foot. He bared his teeth and swiped at Larry, but he was already making trails to the next town, "That's right." Charlie called after him, "Go on and get."
After the pain went away Charlie made himself down stairs and was to open the door when Tommy came in.
Tommy notice his magic loving bro, "Hey little magic dude, princess wanted me to hand this to ya since I was coming back." Tommy held out his arm, there was a small, white envelope with pink frills on the edges.
The magician boy took the offered envelope, and flipped it to the front. "Charlie," it read, in a fairly stylish script, with each individual letter bedazzled by an abundance of glitter. He turned the envelope on its side, deftly tore open the flap with his teeth, and extracted a large piece of stationary from its innards.
"Dearest Charlie," it said, in elegant, flowing script. "You have been invited to the Empress' annual gala. Please arrive at 11:00 sharp, with peanut butter sandwiches and snickerdoodles." The letter was signed, "Empress Lola" in far more flowing, and far more elegant handwriting, with the name taking up over a quarter of the page.
Charlie frowned, "Oh Lola wants to hang out, but I gotta go to the Illusion Chateau."
Tommy shrugged, "You can go to Lola and keep your plans little dude just give your chick some attention and let her know you gotta bounce later."
Charlie thought about what Tommy said he had a good points he could go to both. Besides he didn't want to let her down they did get married.
One day Lola stood before him and gazing up at him with lovestruck eyes, "I've decided that my love for you cannot wait until I'm older, so we're going to be married immediately." Lola said.
Charlie however didn't want to get married he wanted to play the filed till at least his earlier 30's.
"You're going to marry me." Lola said through her teeth, "And then you're going to make me a mommy, then you are going to spend the next 70 years of your life doing what I say, when I say it, do you understand me, Charlie?"
Charlie gave her a blank face. After a bit Lola's angry filled face was replaced by a sad face.
Lola looked downward, "I'm sorry I forget my angry face doesn't work on you. I just want marry you cause mommy says when you love someone a lot you marry them."
Charlie looked at Lola and gave a sympatric look, "Maybe being married won't so bad." Charlie said then blushed.
Lola face lite up, "Really!?"
Charlie smiled, "Yeah, but don't dump me and take half my stuff." He joked.
Lola giggled, "Na I'm gonna be stuck to you forever my prince."
After they laughed Lola produced a ring, A blue and pink swirl Ring Pop, "Charlie...take this ring as a token of my love and devotion...to being your princess forever."
Charlie took the ring, Lola held out her hand, fingers splayed, and Charlie slipped the ring on.
"You're the best boyfriend a girl can wish for." From one second to the next Lola got red again. "Say, Chip. Since we are married. Can I have a kiss from you? You know. Right on my lips?"
Charlie looked surprised and a little bit shocked too he blushed at the thought of kissing Lola Loud, But in the end, he thought to himself that a little kiss wouldn't hurt anyone.
"All right, my princess. Close your eyes."
Lola did as she was told and Charlie leaned in and gave her a kiss on her lips. It wasn't a very long one. But it also wasn't so short that you could call it just a little peck.
After the kiss, Lola looked lovely at Charlie, "Charlie, I'm so happy." Lola said. She jumped on him and hugged as tight as she could.
Charlie decided to follow Tommy's advice, "Your right! I'll go to Lola then to the Illusion Chateau."
Later Charlie made it to The Loud House and went to Lana & Lola's room. There he saw pink walls, light puce carpeting, one window with lilac curtains, and is divided into two separate areas, with Lana's side containing various hats on the wall, a pile of dirty clothes, a nightstand with a terrarium on top of it, for her various frogs and reptiles, and a brown wooden bed with dark green blanket and bedsheets, while Lola's side has a play kitchen, a tea set and various stuffed animals, a small round table, a fancy pink bed with a draped canopy, and her and Lana's closet.
"Chhhhharrrrrlieeeee!"
Lola sat at her table and had her set for their hang out, "Hey~" She batted her eyelashes.
Charlie bowed, "Hello my fair lady for what do own this invention to your castle."
Lola giggled, "I just wanted to spend time with my prince. We'll play, talk and have snacks." She showed him peanut butter sandwiches and snickerdoodles. Lola then brought up a box, "I also bought these for you.~" Lola showed him a box of Butterfingers.
The Velazquest siblings loved Butterfingers. Like, seriously, yo, those things were the best. So crunchy. So chocolatey. Butterfingers were a man's treat. They weren't all soft and soggy like the stuff his future white-haired brother in law Lincoln ate. Lincoln went for stuff like gummy worms.
Charlie loved Butterfingers because they were awesome just like him, is what I'm saying. Sometimes in the afternoon on the way home from school, Johnny treated the younger siblings to junk food and loaded up on snacks at Flip's. The siblings went right to the Butterfingers. Flip's was one of the only games in town that had the Super Ultra King Size Butterfingers. They bought as many as they could and Charlie always kept one in his hat for when he was hungry on the go. Strutting through the halls of Royal County Elementary. With a Butterfinger sticking out of his mouth like a fat cigar, he was the top of the heap, the King of Kool, the Sultan of Swell, and every one of his subjects bowed before him in awe and reverence in Charlie's epic presence.
Butterfingers were a food of the gods and he made sure to have a huge stash at any given time. He kept it in a box under his mini fridge.
Charlie practically Jumped into a seat after Lola presented the box full of Butterfingers.
"So Charlie do you have anything you planned to do this week besides hang out with me?" Lola asked.
"Well I am going to the Illusion Chateau so I need to leave a bit early, is that okay?" Charlie asked.
Lola laughed, "Of course it's okay Charlie I'm not your boss. You're allowed to do whatever you want, I just want to spend some time with you when do you have to go?"
Charlie let out a breath of relief, "Man I thought for a second this is going to get ugly I only need to go by one so I should have enough time to hang with you and make it to my thing."
Lola clapped her hands together, "Perfect we get 2 hours of play time." Lola took a bite of a snickerdoodle but then she suddenly remembered something, "Oh Charlie I wanted to invite you to something could you come to my special Cream Puffs pageant afterschool it's on Friday?"
Charlie swallowed his Butterfinger he was eating and gave a nod, "Sure princess I'll go I wouldn't missed your pageant for the world."
Charlie and Lola then spent the next 2 hours spending time together, they chatted while dining on snacks, they went to Lola's closet and Lola asked for Charlie the opinion on her new dresses, they even drove around and Lola's princess Jeep, when was close to Charlie's time to leave Lola offered to drive him to the Illusion Chateau.
Later Lola and Charlie make their way to the Illusion Chateau.
Charlie hops out of Lola's Jeep, "Ok here's my stop princess, thanks for the lift."
Lola smiled, "No prob Chip. Knock them dead!"
Lola drove off while Charlie waved good bye.
At the Illusion Chateau, Charlie is taking in the scenery as he climbs up the stairs to the magnificent front door. Lincoln takes a breath and opens the door, only to find a wooden barn door.
Charlie looks confused, "Huh?" He tries again and finds a steel prison door. And then just a brick wall behind that. He closes the whole thing, "Wonder if there's a password or a secret button."
Charlie looks around one of the golden statues which in a puff of smoke suddenly turns into the Amazing Brailster. Charlie jumps back in shock.
Brailster takes a bow, "Tada. Welcome junior illusionist… uh…" He looks at an index card, "Charlie Velazquest."
Charlie gasp, "It's you…Mr. The Amazing Brailster. You work here?! You have to teach me how you did that!"
Brailster laughs, "All in good time." He snaps his finger and the door opens, revealing the hallway. Charlie gasps and enters, the Brailster follows.
They enter the grand hallway and Charlie is amazed.
Charlie's eyes become stars, "Woah."
Brailster rose his hands, "Welcome, Charlie, to the Illusion Chateau."
Charlie excitedly looks down the hall, which has pictures of famous magicians, magical props and a self-playing stand-up base. Charlie looks into a crystal ball.
Charlie touches it, "This is Madame Mystery's crystal globe." He sees the display case across the hall from it containing playing cards and a photo of a female magician, "Ooh, and those are The Great Colajulo's Cards of Chaos."
Brailster takes the crystal ball, ""Please don't touch anything." The Brailster puts it back, "The chateau is full of trap doors. Rumor has it there are magicians who have gone missing in the chateau and have never been found."
Charlie chuckled, "I've heard of disappearing acts, but that's a little extreme."
The Brailster gives him a smirking look.
Later, in the prop room, the Brailster opens a pet carrier, "And behold… Trixie the Magic Mongoose!" A mongoose pops out of the carrier, she jumps off Charlie's head, much to his amusement, and crawls up the Brailster's shoulders, "I met Trixie when I was just a young aspiring magician like yourself." He opens his sleeve for Trixie to enter, "You see, the pet store was all out of rabbits, but mongooses are definitely just as magical." He takes off his hat, revealing Trixie inside. She jumps back into the hat, "Oh, she's my best friend I couldn't perform without her." He lets Trixie back into her cage, "And now to begin your training."
Charlie shook himself, "Ok I'm ready! I Charlie the Magnificent can't wait! Which trick are we doing first?" In one flash Charlie is standing next to a washing machine, holding a full hamper, "Huh we're doing laundry?"
Brailster nodded, "Before you can become a great magician you must familiarize yourself with the tools of the trade." He waves his wand and a bottle of detergent emerges from the hamper, Charlie is amazed, mostly, "Make sure to run the gentle cycle."
Brailster snaps his fingers and disappears. Charlie gives a shrug before he pulls out his wand and points it at gloves in the hamper. The gloves then puts the detergent into the machine, drops the bottle in, and starts loading the clothes, but the endless handkerchief chain gets stuck and the gloves pull it before they go in and Charlie closes the door. He makes sure it's at a gentle cycle.
Charlie smiles, "Who knew learning how to do the laundry at home would pay off."
Later, the Brailster is in his office feeding Trixie, when Charlie returns in a puff of smoke.
Charlie tipped his hat, "Laundry's finished. So now that that's done I was thinking we could try doing tricks together."
Brailster waved him off, "Charlie, you're not ready to perform tricks, you're still in training." He snaps his fingers and Trixie dives into the hat and pops up with a rolled-up paper, which she gives to Charlie who gets excited, "These are the things you must master first."
Charlie opens the scroll with excitement, but then has sudden disappointment, "But this is just a list of chores."
Brailster wiggled his fingers, "Magic chores."
Charlie open his mouth, but decided not to say anything.
Later he is doing the magic chores first he cleans dove's cages. He was gonna the dove's cage, but he put a cloth over it and it was instantly cleans it.
Later he is polish one of three cups when a ping pong ball falls out. He simply picks it up and is about puts it into a hat, but he gets a idea he picks up all three cup and drops them and the ping pong ball into his hat, he places his hat on his head and pulls all three cups in each other with the ping pong ball in it all clean. Later, three doves are hungry Charlie takes off his hat the hat suddenly spills out enough seeds to fill the whole room. Later, Charlie is polishing inside a magic box with three doors, which suddenly close in on him. The doors are labelled '1', '2', and '3' from the top down. Suddenly the boxes spin and end up in the order 2, 1, 3. The doors open revealing Charlie's head in between his chest above him and his legs on the bottom. The doors close and spin into the order 3, 2, 1. They open revealing Charlie's legs on top and his head on the bottom. The boxes close and spin again, this time landing in the right places, but boxes 1 and 2 fall off the stack. But this time Charlie pops out from behind number 3, he gets up and laughs.
Later, Lincoln is back with the Brailster.
Charlie sighed, "Everything is polished, scrubbed and wrangled. So maybe tomorrow we can do some actual magic together. Please?"
Brailster shook his head, "Sorry, Charlie. Tomorrow I'm going to need your help with more tasks." Charlie is bummed out. "Trust me, there's a reason for all this. Now, see what's inside my hat." He taps it with his wand. Charlie frowned, but decided to reach in to find… a plunger. "There's a clog in the confetti cannon."
The next day back at the chateau, Charlie is stacking hats in the prop room when the Brailster walks in.
Brailster touches his moustache, "Alright, I need to get my moustache groomed before tomorrow's show. No one likes a magician with moustache frizz. Now just clean out Trixie's cage and you're done for the day."
Charlie gives a thumbs up and the Brailster makes himself disappear, Charlie coughs on the smoke.
Charlie clears his throat, "Man those smoke balls are strong!" Charlie heads to Trixie's cage, "You know Trixie I was really hoping to do tricks with Brailster, but I think I know what he's doing." Charlie opens the cage and the mongooses crawls up Charlie's shoulders, "I think Brailster is going Mr. Miyagi on me." Charlie began cleaning out Trixie's cage, "You see me and my family watch movies together and one movie we watched was The Karate Kid this old named Miyagi agrees to teach Daniel the main guy karate. He has Daniel train by doing a bunch of lame chores, now Daniel want to leave, but Miyagi shows him that the chores were teaching him stuff." After Charlie finished cleaning he lets Trixie back into her cage.
Charlie closed the cage, "That's what Brailster is doing he's my Mr. Miyagi and I'm his Daniel.
Suddenly the Brailster appears right before Charlie's very eyes.
Brailster clapped, "Congratulations! My boy Charlie you've done it!"
Charlie jumped, "Huh what?! What do you mean?!"
Brailster kneed down to Charlie level, "Charlie when I was a young magician I also wanted to start with flashy tricks. But if I hadn't mastered the basics my own teacher made me learn…" He takes off his hat, "..I would never be able to do… A this!"
Brailster pulled out a certificate, "This is for you Charlie."
Charlie took the paper and was amazed, "Wow I'm higher rank!"
Brailster nodded, "I've been watching you and you showed great promise. Charlie I'll help you on your way to become a great magician."
Charlie smiled, "I'll look forward to learning from you."
Brailster rose, "Splendid. Now I shall get my moustache groomed!" He takes out a smoke bomb and disappears again, only for the smoke alarm to go off. The Brailster returns to fan it out, "These things really know how to ruin an exit."
The night of the show arrives. The Brailster is looking out at the stage when he turns and sees his junior illusionist, "Ah, Charlie, it's almost showtime. Do you have my…"
Charlie rose a finger, "Balls and cups? Polished and organized."
"Well what about my…" Brailster was about to asked before being interrupted.
"Handkerchiefs?" Charlie goes to the drawer, "Fluffed and folded."
"Well, and of course I'll need my…" Brailster was about to ask again before being interrupted.
Charlie bring out two, "Straight jackets? Ironed and bleached."
"Exceptional. And don't worry, you'll be up on that stage someday. Maybe even sooner than you think." Brailster said.
The Brailster goes to the stage. Charlie doesn't know what that means.
On stage, The Brailster and Trixie are in the straight jackets, upside down.
"And now for a daring escape." In a puff of smoke he and Trixie are right-side up and the jackets are gone, the audience cheers and throws roses. Brailster and Trixie bow, "Thank you. Thank you. You've been a brilliant audience. But I couldn't have performed this show without my junior illusionist, Charlie Velazquest." Charlie suddenly appears on stage in a puff of smoke. Charlie seems just as surprised, but takes a bow anyway.
"A thank you. Thank you." Charlie said.
Brailster gestured towards Charlie, "He's a promising young magician. And soon he'll be performing his own tricks." Charlie then disappears in a puff of smoke, "Just like that!"
As Lola was getting ready to perform in her pageant she noticed that Charlie wasn't in the seat she reserved for him she grew sad, but started to begin her dance as she looked towards the audience in a puff of smoke Charlie had appeared and waved to her.
Lola grew excited and knew that Charlie wouldn't break his promise to her after finishing her dance the audience roared an excitement and applause. After Lola was declared the winner the two of them were walking back stage so Lola can prepare to leave
"I knew you make it Charlie! I'm so happy you came." Lola said as she hugged her trophy.
"I'm not going to break my promise to you princess good thing I've been practicing my disappearing act." Charlie said.
Lola chuckled, "Well Charlie the Great do you have any magic tricks you can teach me?"
"Sorry princess, but a magician never revels his secrets." Charlie said as he took off his hat and pulled out Lola's trophy.
Lola grew confused and noticed that her hands were empty, "Hey give that back mister!"
Charlie chuckled before running off, "Why don't you try and take it from me princess!"
Lola pouted before chasing after the magician, "Oh I'm going to make you disappear Charlie! Get back here!"
Even tho Lola was chasing after the young magician she couldn't help but smile and giggle.
The End.
