Eri was scared
Granted she was scared most of the time but the point still stands
She had spent nearly half of her life locked away by Chisaki with only brief moments of freedom
But here she was now in a Forest fearing for her life
With weird bugs looking at her not sure what to do having never seen a human in such a condition
She wasn't even sure how she got here
Flashback
"I got her!" Himiko Toga yelled as she and twice began to make their escape with Eri
"Oh no you don't!" A yakuza thug yelled as they used their quirk
Their quirk was called unstable and it made things unstable such as running ground and even mental states with proper training
However, Eri's horn began to glow and thus the quirk locked onto it
However instead of rewinding something the unstable energy tore a hole in reality as unstable also made Toga's grip on the girl unstable causing Eri to fall through the hole
Flashback end
And there she was in an unknown place where Eri had no clue where she could be
She began to cry
Then something snapped her out of it
"Someone H-Help!" A male voice said
She felt compelled to go there, to help
She began to walk over there her legs weak from lack of food
And she saw a peculiar sight
An odd-looking dog chasing a man in a lab coat
"Oh good!" The man said "Listen young lady there's a Pokemon in my bag! Use it to get me out of this mess!"
On the ground there was a brown bag
hesitantly, she opened it and found a red and white ball
Was this what he was talking about?
She picked the ball up and hit the button before throwing it at the odd dog
The ball burst open revealing a blue creature she had never seen anything like before
It had four legs a fin-like tail and orange cheeks
"Mud-Kip!" The creature said before looking at Eri confused "Mudkip?"
"mudkip?" Eri questioned
The odd dog then took notice of Mudkip and attempted to attack
"Move!" Eri said fearful for Mudkip's safety
Mudkip dodged the attack and landed one of his own knocking the odd dog away
"nice move!" The man said
"Back off!" Eri said fearful of the odd dog
sensing its new trainer's fear Mudkip landed a critical hit with a second tackle forcing the odd dog to retreat
"That was a close one!" The man said, "I forgot how aggressive Poochyena can be."
The man took a knee to pet Mudkip
"Good job." The man said
"Mudkip!" Mudkip said leaning into the pets
"And thanks for the help!" The man said to Eri
"Who are you?" Eri asked
"I'm Professor Birch." The Professor said whilst getting up
Professor Birch finally took in Eri's appearance
The numerous bandages and dirty clothes raised several red flags and the fact she just came from the forest raised a crimson flag
But the oddest thing about her was the horn on her head
"Are you a good person?" Eri asked
"Well, I like to think I am." Professor Birch said
"Does that mean you're not gonna hurt me?" Eri asked
The way her voice wobbled when asking that question stabbed right through the professor's heart and the question itself was like a gut punch
As a father this hurt the professor a lot, seeing a little girl like this
He couldn't imagine what he would do if he found May like this
Oh wait he would probably kill whoever did it
"Of course not! I couldn't call myself a Pokemon professor if I did that!" Professor Birch said
"Pokemon?" Eri questioned with a slight head tilt
"Yes, the creatures that inhabit every corner of the planet!" Professor Birch said
"Oh..." Eri said "I've never gotten out much..."
Another red flag...
"Well you seem injured let's head to my lab and get you patched up." Professor Birch said offering a hand
"Okay.." Eri said taking it
They walked into Littleroot town and the professor's lab
"Okay, I'm going to change your bandages. okay?" Professor Birch said, "Just try to remain still and it will be done quickly."
"Okay." Eri responded
Professor Birch slowly removed the bandages
"So I never got your name." Professor Birch said trying to make conversation
"Eri..." Eri said
"Eri that's a nice name." Professor Birch said as he finished removing the first bandage
And then he saw her scars
Scars that littered her entire arm like she'd been cut open and put back together over and over again
"This is most concerning." Professor Birch said, "Eri what happened to you to get these scars?"
Eri started breathing heavily
"Oh dear!" Professor Birch said in a panic "Eri try to calm down, deep breathes!"
Mudkip immediately tried to comfort Eri
Eri's horn began to glow
Professor Birch backed away
Mudkip didn't even flinch and was unaffected by Eri's quirk
When Eri saw Mudkip unaffected by her quirk it snapped her out of it
"How..." Eri began
"That was peculiar!" Professor Birch said "I've never seen anything like it! What was that?"
"It was my Cu-Quirk." Eri said correcting herself due to Professor Birch taking out a pen and paper
"A quirk? That's an odd name for that." Professor Birch said as he began to write his findings
"Do you not have a quirk?" Eri asked
"No, I do not this is the first time I have heard of such a thing." Professor birch said
"But I was told almost everyone had one." Eri said
"Does the person who is taking care of you also have one?" Professor Birch asked
Eri nodded
"And what does his do?" Professor Birch asked
"He can take things apart and put them together." Eri said
"Does he use it on you?" Professor Birch asked
Eri looked to Mudkip who cuddled her
"Y-Yes." Eri said
"I see. How horrible to abuse a child with such a power when he could save lives with it." Professor Birch said
"Abuse?" Eri questioned
"Abuse is When someone hurt someone else without permission or without giving them the chance to defend themselves." Professor Birch said, "For example, Pokemon battles are a mutual agreement."
"Battles?" Eri asked
(This Keeps getting stranger and stranger.) Professor Birch thought to himself before saying "Pokemon battles are one of the many things Pokemon do with trainers another thing is contests where trainers show off their Pokemon in spectacular fashion others simply keep them as pets. I study Pokemon, specifically Pokemon habitats."
Eri simply looked confused
"Well don't worry I'm sure you'll figure it out." Professor Birch said as he finished Eri's bandages "There we go! All done!"
Eri looked confused at this
Overhaul was usually so rough with the bandages forcing her in place to do them but the professor...
He was kind...Like Deku and Lemillion... he cared
"Now then I'm gonna try and find you some clothes. I'm pretty sure that I still have some from when my daughter was your age just in case me and my wife decide to have a second kid." Professor Birch said, "So just stay here feel free to look around though."
And with that, the professor left the lab
Eri took a look around the lab and found an odd device on one of the tables
It looked kinda like a big camera with a computer next to it
She clicked a button and a few seconds later a photo was taken
on the screen it said

Hesitantly she put her name in

A small card came out of the machine
She took it before continuing to look around before noticing a small device on a different table
she picked it up and looked at Mudkip with it
"Mudkip The mud fish pokemon, a water type. On land, it can powerfully lift large boulders by planting its four feet and heaving. It sleeps by burying itself in soil at the water's edge."
"Woah..." Eri said
"Mudkip!" Mudkip said
Just then the door opened revealing a brown-haired girl with a green and white bandanna
She noticed Eri with the Pokedex and immediately said
"Thief!"
Eri ran at being called that
Mudkip immediately tackled the girl in the gut before following Eri
soon after Professor Birch showed up clothes in hand
"May what happened?!" Professor Birch asked his daughter
"A little girl stole a Pokedex and the Remaining starter you had!" May said
"That wasn't a thief! That was a girl who helped save me from a Poochyena a little while ago!" Professor Birch said, "I left to get her some of your clothes when you were her age!"
"Oh..." May said
"This isn't good from what I could gather she was sheltered and abused she didn't even know what a Pokémon was." Professor Birch said
May gasped
"I'll go find her!" May said about to leave
"No wait!" Professor Birch said "If you scared her off she might run away again if she sees you. I'll call Nurse Joy and Norman and tell them to keep an eye out."
"Okay." May said
"Hopefully she hasn't gone too far." Professor Birch said pulling out his dexnav
Eri continued to run through the forest very scared of being called a thief
The cold grass made her feet feel frozen but she just kept running
"Hey there!" A voice said
She turned and saw a boy not much older than her
"Since we both have Pokémon we have to battle!" The boy said
"Huh?" Eri responded
Hold up...This might be fire
