Chapter 14: Past Reflection
Bakugo and Kirishima were hanging out around Boonesboro. It was a just a normal day around the town.
"So you know what I heard?" asked Kirishima.
"What?' asked Bakugo.
However before Kirishima could say anything they both heard a roar.
They turned and saw that a large monster that gotten loose from some ropes.
And it was headed to a small demon child!
Both of them jumped down the take care of the beasts .
That was when a boy showed up and summoned an abomination which the monster slipped on it.
Thankfully Bakugo was ready for it and blasted it away.
A net of vines then caught them monster.
And then a purple haired girl jumped down and slammed on the ground sending the monster flying as rock came out from under it…
The two that did the abomination magic and plant magic showed up. The one who did the abomination was a tall and lean boy while the was short stout orange demon.
A crowd that was watching cheered.
The demon child's father was happy to see he was okay.
"Thank you mysterious heroes!" said the demon child.
"Hey you got some smooth moves." Said the tall boy.
"Wait are you human?" asked the girl.
"I heard there were a bunch of humans in town but I didn't think I'd see one." Said the stout demon.
Bakugo just rolled his eyes.
"That was amazing by the way!" said Kirishima running over.
Thanks." Said the girl, "The name's Bria by the way. This is Gavin and Agmar.""
"Whatever." Said Katsuki rolling his eyes.
"I'm Eijiro Kirishima and my bro here is Katsuki Bakugo." Said Kirishima, "And you go to one of the other schools right?"
"Yeah we go to Glandus." Said Bria, "So the rumors are true you guys go to Hexside."
Kirishima nodded.
That was when another boy showed up, one that both Kirishima and Bakugo knew as he attended Hexside.
His name was Mattholomule and he was in the construction tract.
"Oh Matty did you get it?" asked Bria.
Mattholomule sighed.
"He wouldn't let me have it." He explained.
"Why not?" asked Bira.
"He said it was too dangerous… that's he'd even get in trouble if people found he has it." Said Mattholomule.
"What?" asked Bria, "Is that the real reason."
"It is, I mean you know what coven my brother is in, right?" asked Mattholomule.
"what coven is your brother in?" asked Gavin.
Mattholomule just gave him a deadpan look.
"You have no idea what coven my brother is in do you?" asked Mattholomule.
Don't blame Matty if his brother things he had to protect the stones." Said Bria.
Bakugo narrowed his eyes at Bria.
Bria looked at Bakugo however.
"Oh by the way what did you do that Slither beast?" asked Bira.
"Oh you don't about humans." Said Kirishima.
"They have weird powers that aren't magic." Said Mattholomule.
"Are you serious?" asked Agmar.
Kirishima hardened his arm.
"You saw what I did." Muttered Katsuki.
"I know it was so cool!" said Bria.
"It's not that impressive." Said Mattholomule rolling his eyes.
"I say it is." said Bria, "You two want to hang out."
"Whatever…." Said Bakugo with a shrug.
Mattholomule seemed to muttered something under his breath.
"I have some stuff to do." Said Kirishima.
"What stuff?" asked Bakugo.
"just some stuff… I'll see you back at the house." Said Kirishima.
Bakugo shrugged and left with the kids from Glandus.
Elsewhere, the study team (Luz, Izuku, Tenya and Yaoyorozu) were at the library .
"Okay! Let's do this! Let's do this!" said Luz.
"Are you alright Luz?" asked Tenya.
"I'm fine…" said Luz.
Yaoyorozu sighed while Izuku looked away.
They went inside and checked out the crystal balls which were very similar to the internet and looked up stuff about humans.
There were some weird stories like a movie bombing and Eda freaking people out with human stuff but that was when they found and old story about the human who lived there centered ago donating his journal to the library.
"Looks like we have to talk to Amity." Said Yaoyorozu.
"Right! Talk to Amity." Said Luz.
She got up and headed to the children's section.
"I'm very tempted to tell Mina to go with her plan now." Said Yaoyorozu.
"Yaoyorozu!" said Izuku.
"Wait are you talking about how they have feelings for each other?" asked Tenya.
Yaoyorozu and Izuku sighed.
Back with Bakugo he walked behind the group of Glandus Students.
"So Hexside?" asked Bria, "Why are you going there?"
"The witches I'm living with went there." Muttered Bakugo.
"Oh that makes sense… I think…" said Gavin.
"I wonder what witches are housing a bunch of humans." Said Bria.
"Can you stop." Said Bakugo.
"What?" asked Bria.
"Stop being a fake ass bitch." Said Bakugo.
Bria blinked then smirked.
"Oh wow you're good most people can't see through me most of the time.' Said Bria.
"Whatever." Said Bakugo with a shrug.
Back at the library, the research team got to the children's section of the library, where they saw Amity talking to a little girl who stole her hair tie.
"Luz… we need to talk to her." Said Izuku.
Before she could respond Edric and Emira showed up.
"Oh hey! Are you here to pick up Amity?" asked Luz.
"Looks like you got it handled." Said Emira.
Luz stared to blush.
"We're actually here for skin care, I have a date tonight" Said Edric.
"He needs all of the help he can get, he accidentally sent a poem to their mom." Said Emira.
"Did you have to say that?" he asked.
That was when Amity noticed them and walked over (after she had gotten her hair tied back of course).
"Do you need to use the study room again?" asked Amity.
"Wait… what…" said Edric.
"Did you even notice us or were you focused on Luz…" sighed Yaoyorozu.
"Uh…" said Edric.
"Ob no Edric! Your face is covered in horrible postures and we need to cure them before your date breaks up with you." Said Emira.
"Oh no!" said Edric in an exaggerated tone then realized what she said, "Wait… really?"
Emira dragged him away to try to get away from the awkwardness.
"Well that happened." Said Luz.
"Actually we don't need to use the study room, we have discovered a journal that donated to the library hundreds of years ago." Said Tenya.
Luz showed Amity the picture.
"Wait that looks like it would be in the forbidden stacks… but only Malphas is allowed in there." Said Amity.
"Wait… the favor." Said Izuku.
"He owes us a favor when the Golden Guard attacked!" said Luz.
"Wait… you're right." Realized Amity, "I almost forgot about that."
"Let's go talk to him and call in that favor!" said Luz.
Elsewhere Bia looked at Bakugo.
"So you didn't fall my charms." She said.
"Not one bit." Said Bakugo.
"Oh wow… you're not gullible at all are you?" asked Bria.
"Please… I've seen way too many fakes that I have a high bullshit threshold." Said Bakugo.
"You go to Hexside and you deal with people like that?" asked Bria.
"From my middle school." Muttered Bakugo rolling his eyes.
"Middle school?" asked Gavin.
Bakugo groaned forgetting they didn't have middle school in the demon realm. Though oddly enough the full name of their school was Glandus High.
"On earth we have different kinds of school, Pre-School, Elementary School, Middle School and High School. I'm currently in High School." Explained Bakugo.
The three nodded getting it well enough.
"At my middle school I was the boss! I had the strongest quirk and everyone worshipped me!" said Bakugo.
"Is that what your weird human powers are called?" asked Agmar.
"He brought up that earlier." Said Bria.
Bakugo rolled his eyes.
"You know it's a shame you don't go to Glandus." Said Bria.
"What do you mean?" asked Bakugo.
"Glandus worked the same as your middle school." Said Bria.
Bakugo looked at her unsure what to say.
Back at the library, Amity knocked on the door to the forbidden stack.
After a few minutes the doors opened and Malphas came out.
He was about to ask what was up but upon seeing the four he knew what it meant.
"You are calling in the favor?" he asked.
"We are." Said Tenya.
"All right! Like what can I and the library do?" asked Malphas.
"We want the journal of Philip Whittebane." Said Yaoyorozu.
Malphas sighed at that.
"I like get why you need it, you're stranded here in this world, but like you have to understand that journal is a priceless artifact and needed to be protected." Said Malphas, "Which is like why I have to ask you do some tasks to prove yourselves."
The four looked at each other, Luz was a little nervous but the other three were steadfast… which did make sense as they were hero students and Luz wasn't.
Though Amity looked at Luz nervously for the same reason Luz was nervous.
Back with Bakugo and the Glandus kids.
"Glandus is ruled by the strongest." Said Bria, "We boss around the weakest student in the school."
"Matt transferred out because he couldn't take it." Said Gavin.
"Who's Matt?" asked Bakugo.
"You talked to him earlier." Said Agmar.
"Oh you don't remember names do you?" asked Bria.
Bakugo rolled his eyes, "They're not worth remembering."
"Honestly there was only one thing he was good for the fact that his older brother is an Emperor's Coven Scout." Said Bria, "Other than he's completely useless…"
"Wait… what if he had committed suicide?" asked Bakugo.
The three stared at him and even Bakugo was shocked by what he said.
Back at the library, the four were tired and were covered in cuts and bruises. But otherwise fine they once again met with Amity outside of the Forbidden Stacks.
"What happened?" asked Amity.
"We had to organize man eating books." Said Luz.
"Thankfully that didn't take too long." Laughed Izuku.
"It was quite the experience." Said Tenya who had several bite marks.
"Also we had to tame the paper dragon." Said Yaoyorozu.
Amity nodded.
That was when Malphas appeared looking grim yet he was holding the journal
"I'm sorry but I like have bad news." Said Malphas.
He opened up the journal and it was almost completely eaten by what appeared to be a mouse with a skull like head.
And all five teens gasped in horror.
Back with Bakugo griped his hands preventing explosions.
"Like what do you care if he killed himself or not." Said Bria.
"He's still a person!" yelled Bakugo.
"I guess you're not as cool as we thought." Said Bria rolling her eyes, "I guess you're not Glandus material after all…"
"Like I fucking care." Muttered Bakugo who began to walk away.
Bria looked at her two companions, after all Bakugo doubted if they were truly friends.
That was when an abomination appeared in front of Bakugo.
He glared at it and quickly blew it up.
As a large plant appeared from behind him and lifted him into the air.
Of course he blew it up and took to the air just as Bira was about to create something to attack him which he dodged midair.
"Are you fucking done." He said as he jumped down.
Bria look at him.
He decided to walk away, however Bria trapped in. some sort of structure.
But Bakugo was able to create a much larger blast which he combined with a fire glitch to make the explosion bigger… it was so much bigger the three were sent flying several feet.
He rolled his eyes when saw the three laying there.
"Don't talk to me again you extras." Said Bakugo as he walked away.
Back in the library, Luz's anger finally caught up to her.
"You RAT!" she yelled at the mouser like creature.
Malphas protected the mouse so it wouldn't run away.
"There is some good news however… this is an echo mouse." Said Malphas.
"They eat knowledge and play back what they have eaten." Explained Amity.
Amity showed off the echo mouse could do as Malphas took out a piece of paper to document what was just said which was Phillip explaining how he donated his journal to preserve it.
"The irony is not like lost on me." Said Malphas, "I was the one who meant to protect it yet I did a terrible job. I do expect you copy what you find so we can perverse what there is."
"Of course!" said Izuku.
"You can count on us." Said Luz.
"Now Amity, in an hour there will be an emergency meeting for all staff." Said Malphas.
"Of course!" said Amity.
"Also I will owe you four another favor… considering you passed my trials for nothing." Said Malphas.
"Oh thank you." Said Yaoyorozu.
Malphas sighed as he floated away.
"He's really shaken up by that…" said Amity.
"Yeah." Said Luz.
That was when they noticed the other three were gone.
"Where did they go?" asked Luz.
"I don't know…" said Amity.
Both of them started to blush awkward.
"Well I should prepare for my meeting!" said Amity.
"Yeah! And I should go find them!" said Luz.
And so nothing awkward happened between them.
Back with Izuku, Yaoyorozu and Tenya.
"Why did we just leave them?" asked Tenya.
"They looked like they needed to talk privately." Said Yaoyorozu.
Izuku nodded in agreement.
Elsewhere Bakugo was walk back to the Owl House when he found Kirishima.
"Hey!" said Kirishima.
"They were asshole extras." Said Bakugo.
"Matt told me about his old school, pretty messed up if you ask me." Said Kirishima.
"We need to talk." Said Bakugo.
They found a place to talk and Bakugo told him about what happened inside of Izuku's mind and what he said in middle school.
"Bakugo…" said Kirishima.
Bakugo turned to him and closed his eye, he was not surprised about what happened next, a full powered quirk punch.
He sat there in a daze for about a minute as blood poured him his nose.
When Kirishima noticed he doing better he finally said what he needed to say.
"That was not okay!" yelled Kirishima.
"You don't think I don't fucking know that!" yelled Bakugo, "If had jumped I would have been fucked up! And that's not getting into how Aunty would have reacted."
"Aunty?" asked Kirishima.
"Inko Midoriya.," said Bakugo.
Kirishima stared at Bakugo.
"If you ever meet her you'd understand." Said Bakugo, "If a villain ever hurts her I'm helping Deku get revenge."
Kirishima sweated hearing that…
He managed to calm down he.
He looked at Bakugo and sighed, he remembered what Izuku asked him.
"I didn't fucking mean it…" said Bakugo, "I fucking regret it…"
"I see…" sighed Kirishima., "So the only people who know are the ones who went in Midoriya's head."
"And Lilith." Said Bakugo.
Kirishima blinked and realized that Bakugo also told her remembering she went to talk to him after the incident.
"Yeah she's good a keeping secrets." Said Kirishima.
"Yeah…" sighed Bakugo, "Wait how the fuck do you know that?"
"Uh…" said Kirishima.
(Flashback)
In the bathroom the two of them were dying their roots… with Kirishima's roots being notably black and ironically Lilith's hair being red.
"Is it weird we're doing opposite colors?" asked Kirishima.
"I think it's fine." Said Lilith.
(End of Flashback)
"It's not important." Said Kirishima.
"Okay…" muttered Bakugo.
"Look I'm really angry about what you did." Said Kirishima. "But I know that Midoriya doesn't hold it against you."
"Yeah… whatever…" said Bakugo in a certain tone.
Kirishima could tell that was him saying something along the lines of "Thank you" but in Bakugo speak.
"Yeah…" said Kirishima.
That was when they noticed the bleeding at yet to stop.
"Fuck I think it's broken." Muttered Bakugo.
"Oh man…" said Kirishima.
It was indeed true, that Kirishima broke his nose from that punch.
And even with healing magic it would take quite a bit to heal.
Also Bakugo didn't realize it at the time but that was the beginning of something psychological involving what went down with the Glandus kids… that would indeed cause problems in the future…
Next Time: It's a Palisman adoption day! However Luz is the only one who was unable to get one... even among the humans in the school. However when the remaining Palisman are kidnapped it's up to Luz, Yaoyorozu and surprignaly the Gold Guard to save them...
