Cell vs Acheron (Honkai: Star Rail)
On a rainy day within Cell's Arena, Cell and Cy Yu were for whatever reason standing within the arena as it rained, with Cy Yu holding an umbrella, while Cell just stood in the rain.
"You really just stand here?" Cy Yu asked, baffled that Cell would stand in the middle of the rain.
"After the Super Friends Mansion got destroyed because Evil built his castle on top of it, I literally have nowhere to go," Cell replied, looking at Cy Yu, unamused.
"Not gonna crash with Roshi?" Cy Yu asked with a raised eyebrow.
"He's psychotic and mentally unstable," Cell replied. "I'd probably kill him."
"Frieza?" Cy Yu suggested.
"He has a stick up his ass."
"Kermit?" Cy Yu suggested now, crossing his arms with a very curious look on his face.
"He'd likely get me killed," Cell replied. "I mean, just look at those two fools in the dirt." As Cell pointed at a spot of dirt, Cy Yu then saw two men dressed like Ghostface, dead on the ground. "He brought them to me solely because they wanted to kill me for shits and giggles."
"Wow," Cy Yu replied, not too surprised by that bit of information. After a moment, Cy Yu then suggested, "Shallot?"
Cell paused to think about it, before sighing and saying, "Damn it, he probably would house me until the Super Friends Mansion gets rebuilt, or something else happens."
Cy Yu hummed. "Well, if push comes to shove-"
"Excuse me gentlemen," a woman called out, before the two turned to see a woman with long purple hair walk up to them while holding a red Japanese umbrella. "I'm lost."
"Holy shit Cell!" Cy Yu exclaimed, surprised by this woman who he clearly knew.
"What?" Cell questioned, confused by Cy Yu's outburst.
"You gotta be careful dude," Cy Yu said. "That's fucking Acheron!"
Acheron's eyes widened slightly, more perplexed than anything that these strangers knew her. "Do I know you?"
"Nope, but I know you!" Cy Yu replied. "Cell, this woman is a Self-Annihilator on the Path of Nihility!"
"The hell?" Cell questioned, all while Acheron's gaze seemed to harden as her free right hand went to the hilt of her ōdachi. "What… What does any of that mean?!"
"First and foremost, spoilers for Honkai: Star Rail," Cy Yu began. "Second, it means she's been blessed with the power of a universal entity known as an Aeon, although in her case, she's cursed! Self-Annihilators end up losing touch with everything as a result of the Nihility under the power of the Aeon IX, leading meaningly lives."
"O-... Okay?" Cell replied, still confused.
Cy Yu saw that Cell wasn't getting it and sighed. "...she's strong as shit despite losing touch with a lot of things."
"So uh…" Cell looked at Acheron, who looked slightly on guard, and perhaps even agitated. "...can we help you?"
"Not anymore." The subtle threat in Acheron's voice was enough to cause Cell and Cy Yu to panic.
"We're fucked," Cy Yu commented as Acheron's hair started to turn silvery, her skin also getting paler. Her outfit changed from having shades of purple to red, black and white. Her eyes additionally turned red with white pupils.
As the Self-Annihilator drew her sword, the color seemed to drain from the surrounding area, turning the landscape shades of grey, white, and black, even affecting Cell and Cy Yu with the monochrome filter. The rain slowed down, almost as if time was slowed as she walked toward the two. She tossed up her umbrella, leaving it hovering in the air, before taking one final step, and then fully drawing her sword as she slashed at the two, releasing a shockwave of energy powered by the Nihility, engulfing Cell and Cy Yu in the red wave of energy as it launched into the sky.
The color returned the moment Acheron sheathed her sword, the rain resuming its gentle pour despite the sky now being marked by the Nihility, the red tear in the sky perfectly visible.
Letting out a gentle sigh, hand still on the hilt of her sword, Acheron said to herself, "Damn it, I should've asked for directions…"
I love Honkai: Star Rail's story, and I'm glad I got Acheron during her first banner back during the beginning of the year.
Also, Cy Yu being here instead of Kermit is a nod to the fact that Cy Yu (Alejandro Saab/KaggyFilms) voices Jing Yuan in Honkai: Star Rail, who is actually available right now for a limited time in version 2.7 until Christmas Day, when the Phase 2 of the update will come out. If you read this chapter after that day… then I guess have fun waiting until Jing Yuan resurfaces.
