Ash and Jake Catches Pokémon
When we last saw our heroes, they are in the Viridian Forest where Ash is about to make his first catch by capturing Caterpie. Meanwhile, Jake is about to make his second capture as he battles a female Pikachu.
"Bulbsaur, start the battle off with Tackle" ordered Jake
Bulbasaur charges in and leaps for a tackle attack, but Pikachu dodges the attack. She then begins to uses Thundershock
"It's using Thundrshock. Bulbasaur dodge and use Growl." commanded Jake
Bulbasaur dodges the Thundershock attack. It then growls at Pikachu which scares her
"Good work, Bulbasaur. Now try your Leech Seed" ordered Jake
Bulbasaur shoots a seed from it's bulb. It lands in front of Pikachu
"Pika?" she puzzled
Just then, thin vines came out from the seed and surround Pikachu. It then glows red as it begins to sap her energy.
"That's great Bulbasaur!" said Jake as he takes out a Poké Ball. "Okay now. Go Poké Ball!"
He throws the Poké Ball at Pikachu. It hits and sucks Pikachu inside while also leaving the vines behind. The Poké Ball shakes two times and then locks. Jake smiles as he picks up the Poké Ball.
"Oh yeah!" he exclaimed "Pikachu, is mine!"
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said victoriously
At the same time, Ash was facing off against Caterpie
"Go Poké Ball!" shouted Ash as he threw the Poké Ball at Caterpie. The Poké Ball hits Caterpie and sucks it in. The Poké Ball begins to shake as Ash, Misty, and Pikachu look on. The Poké Ball then locks which means the capture was a success.
"Mmm. Mmmm. Yes! I did it!" cheered Ash he raced over to pick up his Poké Ball
Jake and Bulbasaur turned to their friend as they heard his cheer.
"Ha ha. I did it I got Caterpie!" Ash exclaimed as he held up his Poké Ball that contains Caterpie
'Well what do you know. He did it' thought Jake
"Hey Jake, did you see me?! I caught a Pokémon all by myself! I got Caterpie!" he said
"I sure did. Congratulations, buddy!" said Jake "I also captured a Pokémon too"
"Bulbasaur" agreed Bulbasaur
"You too?! That's great, Jake. This will be our next step to being Pokémon Masters of the whole world." said Ash he puts both his arms on both Jake and Misty and force them to run around in circles
"Whoa! Wait a minute! I'm getting dizzy!" protested Misty
'He sure is excited about his first catch' thought Jake as he smiled
"Look out world! Nothing's gonna stop us now!" shouted Ash
Pikachu and Bulbasaur watches this. Pikachu watches them run around causing him to be dizzy while Bulbasaur just watches this in amusement.
Misty got out of Ash's grip. She was very annoyed
"Ash, you're acting like a...!" Misty started to say until Ash held the Poké Ball containing Caterpie in front of her face
"Look! Inside this ball is the very first Pokémon I ever caught in my whole entire life" said Ash
"Great. Just keep it away from me. Will you?" asked Misty
"You're not scared of an itty bitty Caterpie in a Poké Ball, are ya?" asked Ash teasingly
"I think she is scared, Ash" said Jake
"Bugs get me all bugged out! Even when they're in a Poké Ball! JUST KEEP IT AWAY", Misty screamed as she turned away
"Yep. She is definitely scared" said Jake with a sweat drop
"Bulbasaur", said Bulbasaur as it shook his head
"I like bugs, even when they're not in Poké Balls" said Ash
"Me too. I think bugs are okay" commented Jake
"It must be great for Caterpie inside the Poké Ball, all cute and comfortable inside there. I love my new Pokémon" said Ash as he cuddles his Poké Ball.
"I guess it takes a worm to love a worm" said Misty in disgust
"Very funny" said Ash unamused
"What he said" said Jake also unamused
Ash turns to Pikachu and said, "Pikachu! We got a new friend!"
Pikachu sniffs the Poké Ball and becomes happy that he got a new friend
"Oh, Pikachu. I'm glad you like it" said Ash
"That goes for me and Bulbasaur, too. I got my own Pikachu" said Jake as he took out his Pikachu's Poké Ball
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur happily
"Really, Jake? You caught your very own Pikachu? That's so cool!" said Ash
"Pikachu!" said Pikachu as he is excited by not only a second friend, but also a member of his own kind.
"This is great! From now on, we're gonna catch a whole bunch of new friends! Caterpie, you're sticking with us." said Ash
"Say Ash. Wanna let out our new friends?" asked Jake
"Let's do it!" said Ash
Hearing this caused Misty to flinch
"D-Does that mean?" she said nervously
"Caterpie, come out! Ha!"
"Pikachu, go!"
Both the friends open their Poké Balls to let out Caterpie and Pikachu. Misty screamed and ran away just as they were let out.
"Pika pika" said Jake's Pikachu
"Wow, you got yourself a cute Pikachu, Jake. But why is it's tail so different?" Ash wondered as he looked at Jake's Pikachu's tail.
"I think it's because my Pikachu is a girl" answered Jake
"Really?" asked Ash
"Yeah. You see, some Pokémon have some features that shows that they are a boy or girl. For instance, the shape of Pikachu's tail. If it has a pointed tail, then it's a male. But if it's a heart shaped tail, then it is female" explained Jake
"So that means, my Pikachu is a boy" said Ash
"Exactly" said Jake
Ash's Pikachu blushes at the sight of Jake's Pikachu. He has never seen a member of his own species so beautiful. He went over to her to say hello
"Pika pika" he greeted
Jake's Pikachu turns away bashfully at the greeting
"Pika" she said back with a smile
This caused Ash's Pikachu to faint which makes Jake's Pikachu giggle. Jake then kneels down to see his Pikachu while Bulbasaur walks up
"Hey Pikachu. My name is Jake and this is my Bulbasaur" greeted Jake
"Bulbasaur" greeted Bulbasaur
"Pika pika" Pikachu greeted back
"Sorry about the battle, but me and my Bulbasaur wants to be friends with you. What do you say?" offered Jake
Pikachu smiled and jumps into Jake's arms and cuddles up
"I'll take that as yes" said Jake
The boys and their Pokémon then sees Misty hiding behind a tree from a distance
"Come on Misty. There's nothing to be afraid of" said Ash as he walks to his Caterpie. "Come on Caterpie. Climb up on my shoulder"
Caterpie nods it's head. But before it can do so, it spotted Misty
"CATEEE" it shrieked as it begins to scurry over towards Misty much to everyone's surprise
"Hey! Caterpie, come back!" called Ash
Misty screamed as Caterpie begins to rub against her leg
"For some odd reason, Caterpie seems interested in Misty" said Jake as he put his Pikachu down
"Bulba"
"Pika"
"Hey Misty. Caterpie really likes you. Isn't that cute?" Ash said
"Get this disgusting bug away from me!" yelled Misty as she fell to her knees. Seeing Caterpie looking at her curiously, Misty panics and scurries backwards
"Please, don't come any closer to me!" she yelped
"What? you think Caterpie is disgusting?" asked Ash
"Some people have different fears of something. But this is just plain childish" said Jake
"I can hear you, you know!" said Misty in an annoyed tone
Caterpie looks down sadly. Bulbasaur, Ash's Pikachu, and Jake's Pikachu goes over to comfort it. Misty then grabs both Pikachu and Bulbasaur
"I know. You two be friends with that creepy bug and the other Pikachu, while I be friends with Pikachu and Bulbasaur" offered Misty
Hearing what Misty said, caused Jake's Pikachu to turn away with a huff. Bulbasaur narrowed his eyes when Misty held it. So Bulbasaur hits Misty in the chest causing her to let go of it.
"Ow! Hey!" yelled Misty
Bulbasaur glares at her and goes back to Jake
"Sorry, Misty. Bulbasaur only trusts me and Ash. Not someone who insults Pokémon by calling it creepy" said Jake sternly
"Yeah. And Pikachu only likes me and zaps anyone who tries to... Huh?" Ash said before he sees his Pikachu liking the attention Misty is giving him
"That's unfortunate" commented Jake as he and his Pokémon sweat drop
"You can say that again" said Ash in annoyance
Misty notices Caterpie giving her a puppy dog look which causes her to freak out again
"It's so gross! Ash, put that slimy thing back in the Poké Ball! Bugs are one of the most three disgusting things in the world!" exclaimed Misty
"Oh really?! And what are those disgusting things?" Jake asked in annoyance
"I'll tell you! Carrots, Peppers, and Bugs. Everybody has something they don't like, and I don't like bugs!" shouted Misty
"Yeah, well I like carrots, peppers, and bugs. What I don't like is the way you're hurting Caterpie's feelings with your silly fear of bugs!" snapped Ash
"Hmmph!" said Misty as she turned away
"I like those things too. But I also have things I don't like also" said Jake
"And what would that be?" asked Misty
"Oh just some food that I find repulsive" answered Jake
"I see" said Misty
Ash turns to Caterpie
"I don't think you're ugly or disgusting at all, Caterpie. Come on, climb up on my shoulder" assured Ash as he held out his hand to Caterpie
Caterpie looks at his hand and to Pikachu who is still held by Misty. Pikachu nods his head
"You're not gonna scare Misty anymore" Ash said as Caterpie climbs onto his shoulder
"What do you mean he won't scare me?" asked Misty
"What he means, Misty is that we are leaving without you" answered Jake as his Pikachu got on his shoulder.
The two boys walks off into the forest. Bulbasaur stuck it's tongue out at Misty and follows after it's trainer. Pikachu also got out of Misty's grasp and goes after them. Misty then stand up
"Oh yeah!? I'll show you both!" she said as she grabs her bag and trails after them.
The two boys and their Pokémon were walking through Viridian Forest when both Pikachus notice that Misty was following them from a distance
"Pika pika pika" they both said
"What is it, Pikachu" Ash asked
"I think your Pikachu and my Pikachu are saying that Misty is following us" said Jake as he and Bulbasaur look behind to see Misty hiding behind a tree
"Will you stop following us?" asked Jake in annoyance
"No way, Jake. Your friend owes me a new bike! I'm holding him responsible for my bike!" protested Misty
"When are you going to get over that dumb bike?!" asked Ash in annoyance
"For your information Mr. Pokémon Master, you're the dumb one! Because if you hadn't destroyed it in the first place, I could've ridden out of her by now!" yelled Misty
"Hey, don't talk about my friend like that!" scolded Jake. "Besides, he only did it because he needs to help his Pikachu.
"Yeah. I told you I would make good on your bike one day! And if I'm so dumb, how come you're still following us?!" Ash yelled
"I'm not following you two. This happens to be the fastest way to the woods!" responded Misty
"This coming from a girl who thinks a bike is more important than Pokémon" commented Jake
"Hey!" yelled Misty
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said as it shook it's head
"Pika pikachu" sighed Jake's Pikachu
"Fine, do whatever you want" said Ash as he and Pikachu walks off
Jake and his Pokémon followed behind
"That's exactly what I'm doing!" Misty called back
Unbeknownst to the group, up in a tree a Spearow was watching them. It was looking at Jake with interest
That night, the group had stopped to set up camp. Ash and Jake had just got out their sleeping bags and getting ready for bed. Ash's Pikachu, Jake's Pikachu, and Bulbasaur watches this.
"We better get some sleep, you guys. Tomorrow's gonna be a big day" said Ash
"You said it, buddy" said Jake
"Pika" said Ash's Pikachu
"Pika" said Jake's Pikachu
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
"Well, we'd all get some sleep if you shut your big mouth!" yelled Misty as she was sleeping behind a log
"Don't let the bed bugs bite" said Ash in annoyance as he lied down
"Humph" said Misty as she slept
"Knock it off, you two. Let's just get some shut eye" scolded Jake as he lied down
"Yeah. Good night, Jake" said Ash with a yawn
"Good night, Ash" said Jake
The two boys drifted off to sleep. The two Pikachus and Bulbasaur looked at them from the stump they're standing on until they heard Caterpie. Bulbasaur ask what is wrong in his language. Caterpie responds by gesturing to the sky. The Pokémon all looked up to the night sky. Caterpie then explained to them that it wants to evolve into a Butterfree. Both Pikachus and Bulbasaur were amazed as they heard Caterpie. The Pokémon then gave Caterpie's support on his desire to evolve. With that said, they all went to sleep.
The next morning, Bulbasaur and Jake's Pikachu were sleeping near Jake while Ash's Pikachu slept on the stump. All of sudden, Misty's scream woke them up.
"Whoa!" said Jake in surprise
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said in alert
"Pika pika!" Jake's Pikachu said in surprise
"What! What's wrong? What's happening!?" asked Ash as he hops over
"One guess, Ash" said Jake as he gestures to Caterpie and Misty while getting out of his sleeping bag and putting on his shoes.
"What is this thing doing, sleeping near me!?" shrieked Misty
This caused Bulbasaur and Jake's Pikachu to become annoyed
"Ha ha. Caterpie just wants to be your friend" laughed Ash
"If that thing wants to be my friend! It can stop bugging me already!" yelled Misty. She then turns to Caterpie.
"If you're a Pokémon, get out my face and into that Poké Ball!" she demanded
This caused Caterpie to tear up much to Jake and his Pokémon's shock
"Oh Misty, you are so unbelievable! Caterpie means you no harm. Why it likes you, I'll never know" scolded Ash
Jake's Pikachu becomes mad and is about to advance on Misty, with Bulbasaur trying to hold her back. Jake on the other hand just glared at Misty. Caterpie then crawls away
"Caterpie, what's the matter?" asked Ash
Caterpie didn't answer as it crawls onto the stump. It presses the button on the Poké Ball and goes inside.
"Hey, hold on Caterpie!" said Ash while his Pikachu knocks on the Poké Ball.
"That was low even for you, Misty!" scolded Jake
"Yeah! You owe Caterpie an apology. Pokémon have feelings too you know" added Ash. Misty just turns around with a huff
"He's right, Misty. All Pokémon have feelings, especially if they're bugs" said Jake
"It's like I said before, Jake. Everybody has something they don't like, and I don't like bugs" replied Misty
"Well, you didn't have to send Caterpie away like that!" yelled Jake "What you said to Caterpie was not only cruel, but very heartless!"
"Heartless?" said Misty in surprise
"It was one thing to insult Caterpie by calling it 'creepy' and 'disgusting', but you went too far by yelling at him all because of your stupid fear of bugs! You should be ashamed of yourself!" scolded Jake
This cause Misty to feel a little bad for her actions. Ash attempts to cheer his Caterpie up
"Come on, Caterpie. Don't you worry. Someday we'll show her" assured Ash
"Spearow!"
The group looks up to see a Spearow charging down at them.
"It's a Spearow!" said Jake
"Look out! yelled Misty
The group duck down to avoid Spearow's assault. Spearow then hovered into the air
"What does it want?" asked Ash
"I'll ask it" said Jake as he walks up to Spearow. "Spearow, what's the big idea? Why did you attack us?"
"Spearow, Spear" said Spearow as it pointed his wing at Jake
"What is it saying?" asked Misty
"I think it's challenging me" said Jake with smirk. "Alright Spearow. You got it"
He turns to his Pikachu
"Pikachu, I choose you!" he said
"Pika pika" said Jake's Pikachu as she rushes up to face Spearow
"Good choice, Jake. Electric types are strong against Flying types" said Misty
"This is gonna be good" said Ash
"Pika" said Ash's Pikachu
"Before we battle, I'm gonna check out your moves, Pikachu" said Jake
"Pika" agreed Jake's Pikachu
Jake takes out his Pokédex and scans his Pikachu
Jake's Pokédex: Pikachu's known moves are: Thundershock, Thunder Wave, Quick Attack, and Slam
Spearows then dives at Jake's Pikachu with it's beak glowing
"It's using Peck. Pikachu, dodge and use Thundershock" commanded Jake
Pikachu dodges the attack and unleashes a Thundershock at Spearow which causes major damage. Spearow hit the ground, but the bird Pokémon got up. It then went for another Peck attack.
"Quick Pikachu, use Thunder Wave" ordered Jake
The female Pikachu unleashes Thunder Wave. It hits Spearow, paralyzing it
"Spearow's paralyzed. Now's your chance, Jake" said Ash
"Right" said Jake as he took out a Poké Ball. "Go Poké Ball!"
He throws the Poké Ball at the Spearow. It hits it and sucks it in. And it begins to shake. Jake and his Pikachu looks intensely as it does that along with Ash, Misty, Bulbasaur, and Ash's Pikachu. The Poké Ball then locks
"Yes!" exclaimed Jake
He ran over and picks up his Poké Ball containing Spearow
"I got Spearow!" he said as he held the Poké Ball up
"Pikachu!" said his Pikachu
"Bulbasaur!" said Bulbasaur
"That's awesome, Jake!" said Ash
"Congratulations on your capture. You sure made the right choice when you send your Pikachu out" praised Misty
"Thanks guys" said Jake gratefully
Ash's Pikachu went over to Jake's Pikachu and congratulates her. He then stuck out his tail. Jake's Pikachu knows what he is doing, and she stuck out her tail and they slap it together. The group smiles as they see this. Just then, they heard flapping sounds. The group turns to see a large bird like Pokémon resembling Pidgey, flying by and land on the grass to eat a bug.
"Wow! A Pidgeotto!" exclaimed Ash as he got out his sleeping bag. He takes out his Pokédex and scans Pidgeotto
Ash's Pokédex: Pidgeotto, an evolved form of the Pidgey. It is armed with sharp claws and dives from the sky to capture its prey. Unlike the more gentle Pidgey, Pidgeotto can be dangerous. Approach with extreme caution.
"Alright, Pidgeotto. I'll show you who's the dangerous one around here" Ash said as he took a Poké Ball "Poké Ball, g-.."
Before he can throw the Poké Ball, Jake grabs his arm
"Hold it, Ash! You can't just throw a Poké Ball at Pidgeotto" said Jake
"Why Jake?" asked Ash
"Remember what happened when you tried to capture a Pidgey back on Route 1?" reminded Jake
"Oh yeah" Ash said as he recalled his attempt to capture a Pidgey when they first started their journey
"He's right, Ash. You have to battle and weaken it first. The only reason you got to capture Caterpie is because it's already a weakling!" lectured Misty
"I know what I'm doing, Misty. And you better quit picking on Caterpie. Now if you'll kindly keep your big MOUTH shut, you'll see how it's done" said Ash as he picked up Caterpie's Poké Ball. Jake realizes what he's doing.
"No, Ash! Not Caterpie!" Jake yelled
But it was too late
"Caterpie, go!" yelled Ash as he lets out Caterpie to face off against Pidgeotto much to Misty, Bulbasaur, Jake's Pikachu, and Ash's Pikachu's shock.
Caterpie was let out to face off against a wild Pidgeotto
"Ha, I told I knew what I was doing" bragged Ash. But this only earned him a glare from Misty
"You don't have any idea of the mistake you just made, did you?!" Misty snapped angrily. Jake looks at the battle in shock
"She's right, Ash. Look!" he said as he pointed at forward. Ash look to where he is pointing and was shocked to see Caterpie screaming as it was running away from Pidgeotto.
"Caterpie!" Ash gasped
"It's just as I feared, Flying Type Pokémon have the advantage over Bug Type Pokémon. Pidgeotto is viewing Caterpie as food" said Jake in worry
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur also said in worry
Pidgeotto dives at Caterpie attempting to catch, but Caterpie evades it. The chase then continues
"Caterpie, Counter attack" commanded Ash
Caterpie attempts to defend itself, but it is proven futile as Pidgeotto bashed it and sends it rolling against a tree. Pidgeotto then charges at Caterpie
"Caterpie!" cried Ash
"Hurry, Ash! Recall Caterpie, quickly!" yelled Jake
"Right. Return, Caterpie!" said Ash as he quickly recalled Caterpie back into it's Poké Ball, resulting in Pidgeotto crashing into the tree and getting it's beak stuck. Ash then turns to his Pikachu
"Pikachu, go!" he commanded
Pikachu rushes out to battle. Pidgeotto freed it's beak from the tree and flew up into the air. This allowed Ash to have an opening for an attack
"Pikachu, Thundershock now!" Ash ordered
Pikachu zapped Pidgeotto with a Thundershock, which stuns the bird Pokémon. Jake's Pikachu was amazed by this
"Poké Ball, go!" said Ash as he threw a Poké Ball at Pidgeotto.
The ball hits Pidgeotto and sucks it in. The group watches as the Poké Ball shakes and then it stops meaning the capture was successful.
"Yes! We've got Pidgeotto!" said Ash as he made a peace sign
"Pikachu!" said Ash's Pikachu as he also made a peace sign
Jake was happy that his friend got another Pokémon, but he also knows that Ash has a long way to go as a trainer
"I am the greatest-" said Ash, but gets cut off by Misty
"You're the worst! You have no idea what you're doing! It'll be a long time before you're a Pokémon Master, like a million years!" yelled Misty
Jake and his Pokémon watches them in worry
"But I'm trying to..." began Ash, only to get cut off by Misty again
"You should try to learn something about Pokémon first. With Pokémon, you got to use strategy. Pidgeotto is a bird. Caterpie is a worm. Birds eat worms, Mr. Pokémon Master! And besides, didn't you learn anything from watching Jake's battle with Spearow?" lectured Misty
Jake then spoke up
"I'm afraid Misty is right, Ash"
"Jake?" said Ash in surprise
"Look, I don't want to side with her, but as trainer you need to avoid making mistakes like that. You nearly lost your first Pokémon to Pidgeotto when you send it out to battle. As a trainer, you first have to to know the advantages of some Pokémon. That also includes judging your opponents correctly before you battle them." explained Jake
Ash begins to tear up
"No Ash, don't cry. I'm not saying this to pick on you. I'm just saying this so you can do better in the future. After all, you're just starting out. And so am I" said Jake
Ash smiled as he wiped the tears from his eyes. He then goes up and hugs Jake
"Thanks, buddy" said Ash
"No problem" said Jake as he returns the hug.
Misty and the Pokémon smile as they watch this beautiful scene.
"Ahahaha! How cute!" said a familiar female voice
"So, we meet again" said a familiar male voice
"I know that voice" said Ash as he and Jake separated
"Me too" said Jake
"To protect the world from devastation"
"To unite all people within our nation"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love"
"To extend our reach to the stars above"
"Jessie"
"James"
"No, not this again" said Ash
Jake narrows his eyes at this along with his Pokémon.
"Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight"
"Meowth, that's right!"
"I thought we've seen the last of you guys after we send you flying back in Viridian City!" yelled Jake
"Bulbasaur!" growled Bulbasaur
"Pikachu!" hissed Jake's Pikachu as she sensed that those guys are bad news
"We're in the middle of something here. So can you just..." said Ash only to get cut off by Jessie
"Quiet, little boy. We're not here to listen you, we're here for your Pokémon" she said as she and James points at Pikachu and Bulbasaur
"Hand over that Pikachu and Bulbasaur, you two" ordered James
"Hey this is my Pikachu! Go out and find your own!" said Ash
"I don't think they can be reasoned with, Ash. Bad guys like them don't follow the rules like us here" said Jake
"At least one of you is smart to realize that. And besides, the only Pikachu we want is that one. Along with Bulbasaur" replied Jessie
"We're only looking for the rarest, most valuable Pokémon in the world, kid" added James
"And that special Pikachu and Bulbasaur are just the kind of Pokémon we need" said Jessie
"You idiots! Stop giving away all our secrets!" yelled Meowth as he begins clawing their faces which causes them pain.
"Is my Pikachu and Jake's Bulbasaur that special?" asked Ash. Meowth lands on the ground
"Your Pikachu's power has impressed even me. I really got a charge out of it's incredible attack the last time we met! It's power exceeds evolutionary level! Even your friend's Bulbasaur impressed me with it's determination. It's..." explained Meowth until he gets stomped on by Jessie and James
"Now you're the one giving away all our secrets!" scolded Jessie
"Shut up, before you tell them everything!" added James
"I'm in charge! Cut it out!" screamed Meowth
Ash and Jake look at each other. James and Jessie then stops stomping on Meowth
"Make things easy, and hand over your Pikachu and Bulbasaur!" demanded Jessie
"Think again, Team Rocket! Cause that isn't gonna happen!" Jake yelled back
"Yeah! What he said!" added Ash
"Then you leave us no choice" said James as he and Jessie drew their Poké Balls
"Pokémon battle! Ekans go!" said Jessie
"Koffing, go get them!" said Jaes
The two Team Rocket members let out their Koffing and Ekans who glare at Pikachu
"Koffing!"
"Ekans!"
"Hey! Two against one! That's cheating!" complained Ash
"Well, as we say, all's fair in love, war, and Pokémon battle!" Jessie sneered as she flicked her long hair
"Well, I say that sayings' rotten and so are you!" said Ash
"Not for long! Let's take them on together, Ash!" said Jake as he stood next to his friend with Bulbasaur at his side
"Bulbasaur!" said Bulbasaur
"Yeah, let's do this Jake" said Ash as they both ready to battle
"Well, if they're gonna use two Pokémon, I don't see why we can't use two Pokémon!" replied Misty
"We know Misty. Which is why we're making this a tag battle. Leave everything to us" assured Jake
The two trainers faced off against their enemies with Pikachu and Bulbasaur facing Ekans and Koffing
"Koffing, Sludge attack, now!" James ordered
"Quick, Bulbasaur! Dodge it" ordered Jake
Bulbasaur dodges the Sludge attack, but Pikachu wasn't so lucky as the sludge got in his eyes. Ash, Misty, and Jake's Pikachu were gasped by this
"Oh no!" said Jake
"Bulba" Bulbasaur said in alarm
"You'll pay for that!" growled Jake "Bulbasaur, Growl on both of them!"
Bulbasaur let's out a big growl which caused both Koffing and Ekans to freeze up a bit
"That was a cheap move!" complained Meowth
"If you think you're gonna use your dirty tricks to be beat us, you're wrong!" barked Ash as he picked up his Pikachu. He then turns to Misty
"They might try anything to get what they want. But no matter what happens, don't let them have Pikachu. Understand?" Ash told Misty. She looks unsure
"Misty, come on!" yelled Ash as Misty finally takes Pikachu
"Pika pi" said Jake's Pikachu as she was worried for Ash's Pikachu
"But what about the other two?" Misty asked
Ash turns around and is about to take another Poké Ball
"So, what's the big battle plan, boys?" asked Jessie as Ekans and Koffing recovered from the Growl
'I can't send Caterpie out. It's too weak from that last battle. And I'm sure Jake's Bulbasaur is not gonna last very long out there' thought Ash as he is figuring out his next move. He then comes up with an idea. He takes out a Poké Ball and turns his cap.
"Pidgeotto, go!" he yelled as he throws his Poké Ball to let his Pidgeotto out
"Good choice, Ash. Now we have a chance" said Jake as Ash nods his head
"Koffing, it's Grime time" said James
Koffing flew up and attempts to hit Pidgeotto with Sludge, but Pidgeotto dodges the attacks
"Ekans, go get your dinner" commanded Jessie
"Not so fast! Bulbasaur, Tackle on Ekans" commanded Jake
As Ekans attempts to chomp on Pidgeotto, Bulbasaur charges in and tackles Ekans causing it to skid as Pidgeotto flew up.
"Koffing, use Sludge on Bulbasaur" commanded James
"Dodge them all, buddy" commanded Jake
As Koffing fired sludge while Bulbasaur dodges all of them.
"Now another Growl" commanded Jake
Bulbasaur growled at Koffing which makes it stop it's attack
"No fair!" complained James
Meanwhile Ash commanded Pidgeotto to do another attack.
"Pidgeotto, Quick Attack!"
Pidgeotto charges at Ekans
"Ekans, go underground!" commanded Jessie
Ekans digs underground causing Pidgeotto to stop it's attack. Koffing recovered from the growl and appeared behind Pidgeotto. Ash saw this
"Pidgeotto, behind you!" warned Ash
Koffing fired Sludge at Pidgeotto, but it repels it with it's wings. Koffing then fired several sludges at Pidgeotto which it dodges. Suddenly, Ekans shots up from the ground.
"Pidgeotto!" shouted Misty
Jake spots this
"Uh oh! Bulbasaur help Pidgeotto!" shouted Jake
Bulbasaur charges at Ekans
"Oh no you don't! Koffing, tackle on Bulbasaur" commanded James
Koffing charges at Bulbasaur and knocks it away with Tackle. This causes Bulbasaur to hit the ground. Meanwhile, Pidgeotto dodges Ekans' attack
"We're gonna get a Pokémon! We're gonna get a Pokémon! We're gonna get a Pokémon" sang the Team Rocket trio
Pidgeotto flies up the air with Koffing and Ekans surrounding it.
"Pidgeotto, Gust Counter Attack!" Ash commanded
Pidgeotto attempts to use Gust on it's opponents, but they both dodge it. Then Ekans and Koffing both Tackled Pidgeotto, defeating it. This caused both Jake and Bulbasaur to gasp at this in shock.
"Oh no! Pidgeotto, return!" shouted Ash as he recalls Pidgeotto to it's Poké Ball.
"Don't worry, Ash. I'm still in this" assured Jake "Bulbasaur, you okay?"
"Bulbasaur" said his partner as he got up
"Okay then, use Tackle on Ekans" commanded Jake
Bulbasaur begins to run straight at Ekans
"Ekans, Dig again!" commanded Jessie
"Koffing, use Sludge!" commanded James
Koffing appeared and appeared and shot Sludge in Bulbasaur's eyes, blinding it. Jake gasps
"Saur" said Bulbasaur as it attempts to wipe the grime off.
Suddenly Ekans appeared above ground and bashes Bulbasaur, defeating it
"Bulbasaur, no!" shouted Jake as his skids in front of him. He picks his partner up
"Bulbasaur, are you alright?" Jake asks his partner
"Saur" responded Bulbasaur with the grime still in his eyes.
"Don't worry buddy. You tried your best!" assured Jake. He then goes over to where is backpack is and places Bulbasaur next to it.
"Guess you two got no choice. Let Bulbasaur and Pikachu in, and watch Team Rocket win." said Jessie
Jake's Pikachu gets mad and decides to do something about this. She then scurries up to Jake
"Pika pika pika" she said
"What is it, Pikachu?" asked Jake
"Pikachu pika" his Pikachu said as she pointed at the battle
"Oh I see. You want to battle" said Jake. Pikachu nods her head. "Well then, go get em"
Jake's Pikachu runs out in the battlefield and faces Ekans and Koffing
"Well well. It looks like we have another Pikachu in our midst" replied James with a smirk
"Why don't we nab this Pikachu along with the primary Pikachu" suggested Meowth
"Ekans, attack!"
"Koffing, get that Pikachu!"
Ekans and Koffing both charges at Pikachu
"Pikachu, Thundershock them!" commanded Jake
"Pikachu!" screamed his Pikachu as she zaps Koffing and Ekans leaving them both charred
"Koffing, don't let a Thundershock stop you!" commanded James
"Ekans, stop standing around and attack!" commanded Jessie
"Ash, you have to help Jake. His Pikachu can't fight them all at once" Misty said in worry. Pikachu then attempts to get out of her grip. "No Pikachu! You can't battle in this condition"
Ash looks at his Poké Ball with Caterpie in it.
"Ash, What are you...?" Misty asked
"I know you're still weak from your battle with Pidgeotto. But now, Caterpie you're my only hope! Just give it your very best shot!" Ash said as he enlarges his Poké Ball
"Caterpie, go!" he shouted as he releases Caterpie. Caterpie appears next to Jake's Pikachu. It was still bruised from the attacks done by Pidgeotto.
"What's that?" puzzled James
"It's a bug. A measly little bug" answered Meowth
This caused the trio to laugh at Caterpie
"Let's get the bug spray" laughed Jessie
Ekans and Koffing then lunges at Caterpie. Caterpie shrieks and ducks it's head down
"Pika!" said Jake's Pikachu
Hearing Caterpie's shrieks, cause Ash's Pikachu to worry
"Pika!" Ash's Pikachu exclaimed
"Hang in there" said Misty
"Pikachu, protect Caterpie!" ordered Jake
Pikachu nods her head and gets in front of Caterpie, ready to fight off her enemies. Just as the two Poison type Pokémon got closer, Ash then came up with an idea
"Caterpie, use String Shot now!" he commanded
Caterpie heard Ash's command and seeing Koffing and Ekans still coming near. It leaps next to Jake's Pikachu
"Pika?" said Jake's Pikachu in confusion
Caterpie then unleashes String Shot which wraps Koffing up. Caterpie then shoots String Shot at Ekans, covering it's head. Caterpie then charges in and uses Tackle to knocks Koffing into Ekans, sending them both flying.
"Wow" said Jake
"Pika" his Pikachu said impressed
"Huh" said Jessie shocked
"Beaten by a Caterpie and a Pikachu!" said James in disbelief
"Now that really bugs me!" growled Jessie
"Now watch a real Pokémon in action" said Meowth as he walked up with his claws out
"I wouldn't be too sure of that" said Jake
Caterpie then shoots String Shot which covers Meowth in webs from head to toe. Jessie and James both picked up their feline companion and took off
"It's time for Team Rocket to blast off" said Jessie as they ran
"You may have won this round, but we'll be back!" called James as they are out of sight
"Come back anytime! We'll be glad to beat you" taunted Misty as she stuck out her tongue.
Ash was stunned by his and Jake's first victory.
"We did it... Jake, we did it! We both won our first Pokémon victory fair and square! Yeah! Yeah!" exclaimed Ash as he cheered
"We sure did, Ash. As a team" replied Jake also feeling good about himself
"Pika pika" said his Pikachu
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
Jake turns to see Bulbasaur still blinded by the grime
"Oh Bulbasaur. I forgot about you" he said. He ran over to his backpack. He takes out a napkin and wipes the grime off of Bulbasaur. "There. Is that better?"
"Bulbasaur" thanked Bulbasaur
Ash then held up his Caterpie
"Caterpie, I'm proud of you. You really did your best and we've won because of you!" Ash praised his Caterpie. He then looks at Jake's Pikachu. "Hey Pikachu. Thank you for protecting Caterpie. I gotta admit, you really let Team Rocket have it"
"Pikachu pika" said Jake's Pikachu with a blush
"You're stronger than you look, Caterpie" Misty said to Caterpie
"Pika" said Ash's Pikachu.
Jake blinked his eyes in surprise
"Did you just compliment, Caterpie?" he asked
"Well, I still don't like bugs. But I suppose I can make an exception for Caterpie" answered Misty
"I guess that means you feel different about Caterpie now" Ash said
"Well, I" stammered Misty
"Why don't you two make up, Misty. You still owe Caterpie an apology for hurting it's feelings earlier" suggested Jake
"Yeah. All you have to do is pat Caterpie on the head and thank it for a job well done." added Ash
Misty was feeling reluctant about it
"Come on, Misty. You like Pokémon, don't you?" said Jake
"Well, okay" said Misty nervously as she slowly sticks her hand out to Caterpie. Just then, Caterpie shoots silk in the air which scares her. Ash was shocked as he puts Caterpie down
"What's wrong with Caterpie?" he asked
"It's okay, Ash" Jake answered "Caterpie is just evolving"
"Bulba" said Bulbasaur in amazement
"Pika" said Jake's Pikachu
They group watches in amazement as Caterpie covers itself in silk
"Caterpie. This is so great!" said Ash exclaimed
By then Caterpie has then made itself a cocoon and became a different kind of Pokémon as it finishes. Ash takes out his Pokédex and scans his Pokémon
Ash's Pokédex: Metapod, Caterpie's next stage. It has encased its body in a hard shell. This specimen reached this stage faster than any previously discovered Pokémon of this variety.
"Hey. Maybe that means it can keep on changing and going onto the next stage right away!" exclaimed Ash
"Pi Pika Pi" said Ash's Pikachu
"Bulbasau saur" added Bulbasaur
"Pika pika" said Jake's Pikachu
"You're right about that part, Ash. But Metapod will need to keep battling in order to evolve again" said Jake
"It's nice to meet you, Metapod" greeted Ash as he picked Metapod up. Metapod didn't say anything but blinks it's eyes.
"Not in the mood to talk, huh?" asked Ash
Both Ash and Jake laughed at this along with their Pokémon. Misty watches them
"I've never known anyone like them. Those two really do like Pokémon" said Misty.
Ash then held Metapod in front of her causing her to freak out
"Misty. You two were just about to make friends. You didn't forget, you?" he asked
"Uh, I didn't forget. But..." Misty said until a Pokémon resembling a bee flew past her, spooking her in the process.
"I'll do anything! Let's just get out of this forest" she yelled
"No way! There's still plenty more Pokémon in this forest! Let's go, guys!" exclaimed Ash as he raced off with Metapod in his backpack and Pikachu following behind
"No need to tell me twice!" said Jake as got his backpack and follows after his friend. Bulbasaur and Jake's Pikachu follows behind him
"Wait for me!" exclaimed Misty as she trails after them
"Come on, we got lots of Pokémon to catch" said Ash as he continues running
"We're right behind you, buddy" replied Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
"Pikachu" said Jake's Pikachu
The group then ran deeper into the Viridian Forest for more adventures and possibly new Pokémon
