Challenge of the Samurai
Last time on Pokémon: Adventures in Kanto, Ash and Jake both captured a Caterpie and a female Pikachu in Viridian Forest. After having to deal with Misty's fear of bugs, the two friends also captured a Spearow and a Pidgeotto. They then tag teamed against Team Rocket and manage to send them packing. Even more surprises came when Ash's Caterpie evolved into Metapod.
In Viridian Forest, Misty's screaming was heard. It was so loud that it made some bird Pokémon fly away. The two boys, Pikachu, and Bulbasaur were looking at Misty who was hanging on a branch in a tree.
"Let me guess, Misty. Another bug?" asked Jake knowingly
"Uh huh. I think I saw one over there. Gross!" replied Misty in disgust
"Really? And what type of bug would that be?" Jake asked
"I know. Maybe it's a... Cowterpie!" said Ash as he was wearing a cow suit
This caused Misty to fall off the tree and Pikachu falls over. Jake just facepalms at his friend's joke
'Worse joke ever' he thought as his Bulbasaur shook it's head in annoyance.
"That wasn't funny! You know I hate bugs, and I saw one right over there!" Misty shouted as she got up
The group look to see a worm like Pokémon with a horn on it's head and tail.
"Hey, that's a Weedle" said Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
Misty quickly hid behind Ash as he took out his Pokédex
Ash's Pokédex: Weedle. The stinger on this Pokémon's head guarantees that any attacker will get the point right where it hurts.
"A stinger, huh? Now there's a challenge" said Ash
"Yeah, especially with the extra stinger on it's tail" stated Jake
"Why are so excited about a Bug with a stinger? Make it go away!" begged Misty
"You gotta be kidding! You can't possibly expect a great Pokémon trainer like me to let a Weedle escape. I'm gonna catch it" said Ash
"Go for it, Ash" encouraged Jake
Ash was about to get a Poké Ball, but then he stops as he remembered something
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. You need to weaken a Pokémon before you can capture it. Let's go, Pikachu" said Ash
Unfortunately, Pikachu has fallen asleep. The three humans and Bulbasaur fall over as they saw this
"Taking a nap, huh? Okay, snooze, you lose. There's still Pidgeotto and Metapod to do the job and they give me the respect I deserve" bragged Ash
"You deserve to have your head examined" scoffed Misty. She quickly looks down to see Weedle going up her leg. This causes her to grow pale. Knowing what comes next, Jake looks at Bulbasaur and begins to count down.
"Three, two, one"
Misty then screams and begins running for her life while knocking Weedle off
"Don't just stand there! Catch it!" Misty shouted as she ran off
"Man, what a fraidy cat" said Jake as he watches her flee the scene
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
Jake then looks at Ash
"I'm gonna go ahead and look for another Pokémon, Ash. Come on Bulbasaur" Jake said as he and Bulbasaur went into another part of the forest.
"Okay. Good luck, Jake!" called Ash as he was preparing to capture Weedle
Jake and Bulbasaur were walking through a part of the forest. They are looking for a Pokémon to capture.
"Keep your eyes peeled, Bulbasaur. I just know there's some Pokémon nearby." said Jake as he looks around
"Saur" said Bulbasur
As they were walking, they see something rustling in a nearby bush.
"I think there's a Pokémon in there" Jake whispered to Bulbasaur
Bulbasaur nods it's head. Jake takes out a Poké Ball from his bag and throws it at the bush. It then hit something inside.
"Ow!" cried a female voice
"Wait. Ow?" said Jake in confusion
"Bulbasaur?" Bulbasaur puzzled
Just then, a girl came out from the bush rubbing her head. She has brown messy hair and brown eyes
"Hey, what's the big idea!?" the girl demanded
"Say. You're not a Pokémon. You're a girl" said Jake. The girl then got out of the bush. She is revealed to be wearing a sleeveless black dress with a bit of cyan and a pair of cyan shorts that stops at her thighs. The girl was also wearing black shoes with cyan soles, white wristbands, and has a yellow purse
"And what gave that away?" the girl asked sarcastically
"What were you doing in that bush?" asked Jake
"Same as you. I was looking for a Pokémon to befriend until a certain someone threw a Poké Ball at my head!" said the girl with a glare
"Look, I'm sorry. It was accident. I didn't mean to hit you." apologized Jake
The girl then softens her gaze
"That's okay. You just didn't know" said the girl with a smile. She then notices Jake's Bulbasaur next to him.
"Hey, is that your Bulbasaur?" she asked
"Yep" Jake said
"Oh, it's so cute!" squealed the girl as she knelt down and begins rubbing her hand on Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur flinches a bit, but then starts to relax from the girl's gentle touch.
"I should introduce myself. My name is Jake. Jake Serling" said Jake. "What's yours?"
"My name is Green. It's nice to meet you, Jake" said the girl now known as Green as they shook hands.
"Well it was nice meeting you, but I think I need to get back to my friend" said Jake as he was about to leave. But Green grabs his hood to stop him.
"Hold it" said Green with a smirk. "You didn't think I was gonna let you off that easy, did ya?"
"What are you saying?" asked Jake
"What I am saying is that I challenge you to a battle" answered Green
Jake looks at his Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur nods it's head at the battle.
"I guess I still have time. Okay, Green. I accept your challenge." said Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
"Great, let's go!" said Green as she runs a little farther and faced Jake
"So, how do you want to do this?" he asked
"How about two on two?" suggested Green as she takes out a Poké Ball
"Sure thing, Green" said Jake
"Well then. Let's go! Eevee, I choose you!" said Green as she threw Poké Ball and out comes a brown quadruped Pokémon.
"Eevee", it said
"So that's an Eevee" muttered Jake as he takes out his Pokédex to scan
Jake's Pokédex: Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon. Its genetic code is irregular. It may mutate if it is exposed to radiation from Evolution stones.
"Well then. Pikachu, I choose you!" said Jake as he threw his Poké Ball and his Pikachu comes out.
"Pikachu!" she said
"Oh my gosh! You're Pikachu is so adorable!" squealed Green as she has sparkles in her eyes
"Thanks. I guess. Now let's get this battle started" said Jake as Green calms down
"Right! Eevee, use Quick Attack!" ordered Green
"Use your Quick Attack, Pikachu!" said Jake
Both Pikachu and Eevee charges at each other with Quick Attack which knocks them both back.
"Try a Tackle attack!" commanded Green
Eevee jumps at Pikachu
"Pikachu, dodge and use Slam!" ordered Jake
Pikachu jumps to the right to avoid Eeevee's attack. She then hits Eevee with Slam which makes Eevee skids back
"How about this? Eevee, use Sand Attack!" Green commanded
Eevee recovers from the attack and begins to kick sand at Pikachu which gets into her eyes
"Oh no, Pikachu!" yelled Jake
"Pika!" cried Pikachu as she couldn't see
"We got you now, Jake." said Green with a smirk. "Now Eevee, use your Tackle"
Eevee charges in and tackles Pikachu which sends her skidding on the ground.
"Pikachu!" cried Jake
"Now another Quick Attack!" ordered Green
Eevee charges in with Quick Attack and hits Pikachu causing her damage.
"Pika pi" she said in pain
"Pikachu, listen. You may be blinded, but don't worry. I'll be your eyes. Do you trust me?" Jake asked
"Pikachu pika" Jake's Pikachu said as she nods her head
"Eevee, use your Tackle again!" ordered Green
Eevee charges at Pikachu
"Pikachu, dodge to the left and then Slam to the right!" instructed Jake
Pikachu did what her trainer said. As Eevee got close, Pikachu dodges to the left, and then turns to the right and slams Eevee much to Green's surprise.
"Whoa!" gasped Green
"Good job! Now turn forward and use your Thundershock!" ordered Jake
Pikachu turned forward where Eevee is and then unleashes Thundershock which zaps Eevee leaving him paralyzed and charred.
"Now Pikachu, charge forward and use Quick Attack!" instructed Jake
Pikachu charges forward with Quick Attack and knocks Eevee away. Eevee hits the ground with swirls in it's eyes.
"Eevee!" yelled Green as she ran over and kneels down.
"Alright! We won the first match! Good work, Pikachu!" said Jake
"Pi Pikachu" said Pikachu although she was still blinded
"Bulbasaur!" cheered Bulbasaur
Green picks up her Eevee
"Eevee, are you alright?" she asked
"Eevee" Eevee said weakly. Green smiled
"It's okay, Eevee. You tried your best. Take a rest", she said as she recalls Eevee back into his ball and stood up
"I gotta say, Jake. It was impressive how you guided your Pikachu like that after we blinded her" commented Green.
"Why thank you, Green. You weren't too bad yourself with your Eevee" complimented Jake. Green giggles at this
"Thank you. Time for my second Pokémon" Green said as she drew her next Poké Ball. "Squirtle, I choose you!"
She throws the Poké Ball and a Squirtle comes out.
"Squirtle!" it said
"Squirtle, huh? I assume that's your starter?" asked Jake
"Yep. Squirtle became my partner when I first started out as a trainer" responded Green
"I see. Pikachu, return for now" said Jake as he returns Pikachu to her Poké Ball. He then turns to Bulbasaur
"Get in there, buddy" Jake said
"Saur" Bulbasaur said as it rushed into battle for face Squirtle
"Looks like we're both sending out our starters. Squirtle, use Bubble!" ordered Green
Squirtle shoots bubbles from it's mouth, but it does little damage to Bulbasaur due to it being a Grass type.
"Bulbasaur, pay Squirtle back with Tackle" ordered Jake
Bulbasaur charges at Squirtle and tackles it. Squirtle bounces and skids on the ground
"Squirtle, go for a Water Gun attack!" ordered Green
Squirtle shoots Water Gun at Bulbasaur
"Bulbasaur, jump over the attack and shoot Leech Seed!" commanded Jake
Bulbasaur leaps over the Water Gun much to Green and Squirtle's shock. Bulbasaur shoots a seed from it's bulb which lands on the ground. It then shoots out vines and wraps around Squirtle.
"Oh no, Squirtle!" cried Green
The Leech Seed begins to drain Squirtle's energy and giving it to Bulbasaur
"Now that it's immobilized. Bulbasaur, another Tackle!" ordered Jake
Bulbasaur charges at Squirtle and tackles it
"Stay strong, Squirtle! Just hang in there!" Green said to Squirtle
"Squirtle" said Squirtle as the Leech Seed drains it's energy again
"Tackle once more, Bulbasaur" said Jake
Bulbasaur then tackles Squirtle which send it flying out of the vines and skidding on the ground.
"Squirtle! Are you okay? Can you get up?" asked Green
Squirtle tries to get up. But because it had it's energy drained, Squirtle went back down with swirls in it's eyes. Green smiles
"You did an excellent job, Squirtle. Return" she said as she returns Squirtle to it's Poké Ball.
"Looks like I win" said Jake. He turns to Bulbasaur. "Good job, partner"
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
"Yeah, that was a good battle. You sure showed your skills, Jake" said Green as she walks up to them
"Thanks, Green" Jake said
Green then holds up a Poké Ball in front of Jake
"Can I catch you? You can be one of my Pokémon" said Green
"What?!" exclaimed Jake
"Saur?!" cried Bulbasaur
Green then begins laughing
"Just kidding"
"Did you just say that to get back at me for hitting you with that Poké Ball earlier?" asked Jake a little flustered
"Maybe" replied Green with a wink
Jake laughs nervously
"Well, I should get back to my friend"
"Hey. Can I come with you? I would like to meet your friend" offered Green
Jake looks at Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur nods it's head with approval
"Sure Green. We don't mind the company. Let's go" said Jake
And so, Jake and Bulbasaur accompanied by Green walks through the forest to get back to Ash. As they were walking, Green couldn't help but blush at Jake.
Meanwhile in another part of the Viridian Forest, a boy dressed in a samurai costume was walking to search for a trainer from Pallet Town.

And that's the first part of my version of Challenge of the Samurai. I bet you never saw that coming when I introduced Green. Green is based on the character from Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! And she will be a new traveling companion to Ash and Jake's group in the next chapter. Green is voiced by Cristina Vee who also did her voice in Pokémon Evolutions episode 8, The Discovery. I hope you enjoy!
