Challenge of the Samurai, Part 2
Previously on Pokémon: Adventures in Kanto, Ash attempts to capture a wild Weedle in Viridian Forest. Meanwhile, Jake was looking for another Pokémon to catch and encounters a girl named Green, who then challenges him to a two on two battle. Jake defeats Green and is now heading back to return to Ash with Green tagging along.
Jake, Bulbasaur, and Green were walking through the forest to return to Ash
"So, Jake. What's this friend of yours like?" Green asked curiously
"Well, let's just say that he's someone who really likes Pokémon, Green" answered Jake
"Oh. Like you?" guessed Green
"Mmm hmm" replied Jake
Green giggles at this
"Saur" said Bulbasaur happily
Back with Ash, he had just let out his Pidgeotto to battle Weedle.
"Pidgeotto, watch out for it's Poison Sting!" Ash warned as Pidgeotto was charging at Weedle
Pidgeotto flies up to avoid Weedle's stinger
"Nice work!" said Ash
Pidgeotto then twists around. It then blew Weedle away with it's speed.
"Now I got it!" said Ash
"Hey, Ash!" Jake called
Ash turns to see Jake, Bulbasaur, and Green coming up to him
"Hey, Jake! Did you get a new Pokémon? Oh and who's she?" asked Ash as he notices Green
"Sorry, buddy. I couldn't find a new Pokémon. Also, this girl's name is Green. Green this is my best friend, Ash Ketchum" Jake said as he introduces Green to Ash
"Hello, Ash! It's nice to meet you" greeted Green
"The pleasure is all mine, Green" said Ash
"You know, your friend here told me that you like Pokémon" said Green
"Yup, guilty as charged" replied Ash
"So, how are doing with Weedle, Ash?" asked Jake
"Bulbasaur?" asked Bulbasaur
"Well, my Pidgeotto made quick work of Weedle. So you could say I'm doing okay" answered Ash
They looked to see Weedle on the ground looking disoriented
"Wow" said Green
"That's great, buddy. Now you just have to capture it" said Jake
"Bulbasaur", Bulbasaur said in agreement
"Right" Ash said as he took out an empty Poké Ball and enlarges it. "Weedle, I got you now"
But before he can throw the Poké Ball, a boy in a samurai outfit appeared
"Greetings, am I addressing the Pokémon trainer that comes from Pallet?" asked the boy
"I'm a Pokémon trainer from Pallet" answered Ash
"Me too. But my friend's in the middle of something here. So can you please...?" asked Jake only to get cut off
"I have found you at last" said the boy as he unsheathe his sword
"ASH!" shouted Misty as she came running back. Ash turns to see the kid jumping at him with his sword. Jake, Green, and Bulbasaur gasped as he did that
"HIII-YAAAH" shouted the boy
"Bulbasaur quick, intercept with Tackle!" Jake told his Bulbasaur
Bulbasaur leaps up and tackles the boy in the stomach causing him to drop his sword
"Oof" he grunted as he hit the ground
"Hey! What's your deal!?" he complained
"What's my deal?! You're the one who tried to slice up my friend with that sword!" yelled Jake
"Yeah. What are you trying to do, kill him!?" added Green with a glare
"Bulbasaur!" barked Bulbasaur angrily
Ash, seeing that he almost met the end of a sword, tries to act tough.
"That sword doesn't scare me. There's no way your stealing my Pokémon" said Ash as Misty joins up with them
The boy then gets up and picks up his sword
"You misunderstand. I am no Pokémon thief and I am especially no murderer" he said
"Who are you then?" asked Misty
"And why did you attack Ash like that!?" Green demanded
"I am Samurai! I am shrewd, fearless, and completely invincible in combat! I have been searching the forest for you." the boy calling himself Samurai proclaimed as he sheathed his sword. "And do not be alarmed, my sword is not real. It is only a toy I used to intimidate trainers who come here and to challenge them to a Pokémon battle."
Jake and Green along with Bulbasaur both sigh with relief
"You sure have a funny way of challenging trainers you know that?" asked Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
"So, you're saying your challenging me to a match?" asked Ash
"That is correct. Let us see who will triumph" said Samurai as he drew a Poké Ball. As Ash and Samurai face each other, Jake then remembered something
"Um, Ash. What about Weedle?" he asked
Ash widens his eyes in realization
"Oh yeah! I forgot!" exclaimed Ash as he turns to see Weedle crawling away. "I'll get it! Poké Ball, go!"
Ash threw the Poké Ball, but it missed and Weedle escaped
"Aw, he missed" said Green
"Bulbasaur" sighed Bulbasaur
"Pidgeotto, return!" said Ash as he recalled Pidgeotto back to it's Poké Ball. Ash then turns to Samurai angrily. "That Weedle only got away because you mixed me up!"
"Don't blame your failure on me, your Pokémon handling is dim-witted and clumsy" said Samurai arrogantly. This earns him a glare from both Jake and Ash
"What do you know about Pokémon? I bet I can beat you in a Pokémon match blindfolded!" snapped Ash as he made his challenge
"We shall see. But I want to challenge your friend first" said Samurai as he looks at Jake
"Me?" asked Jake in surprised
"Yes. You have shown courage when you defended your friend from me when I came at him with my sword. So I want to challenge you" said Samurai
"Sure. Let's go" said Jake as he nods his head
"Hey, what about my match?!" complained Ash
"Don't worry, Ash. Just wait until our match is done. I'm sure it won't take long" assured Jake
"Okay. Good luck, Jake" said Ash
As Jake and Samurai got ready for their match, Misty, Green, Ash, Pikachu were sitting on the sides watching. Bulbasaur was at Jake's side. Green then looks at Misty
"Hey there. I don't think we've introduced ourselves. My name is Green. What's yours?" she greeted Misty
"Oh. My name is Misty. It's nice to meet you too, Green" said Misty
"Likewise, Misty"
"Go get him, Jake!" said Ash
"Pikachu" his Pikachu said. Green then notices his Pikachu
"Is that your Pikachu, Ash?" she asked
"He sure is, Green. Pikachu's has been my partner ever since me and Jake started our journey together" said Ash
"Cool. Hi, Pikachu" Green said as she greeted Pikachu
"Pikachu" Ash's Pikachu greeted back
"So, ready to begin the match?" asked Jake
"Yes!" said Samurai. "Pinsir, assume battle mode!"
He throws a Poké Ball and a stag beetle like Pokémon came out
"A Pinsir, huh?" said Jake as he takes out his Pokédex to scan it
Jake's Pokédex: Pinsir. This fearsome Pokémon uses its powerful claws to put the squeeze on its opponents.
"I'm gonna need to watch out for those" said Jake as he took out a Poké Ball. "Spearow, I choose you!"
"Spearow" it cried
"Hey, a Spearow!" said Green
"Jake made a smart choice. He sure did his homework. Unlike someone I know" Misty said
"Hey!" Ash yelled
"Before we begin the match. Allow me to check on Spearow's moves" said Jake
Samurai nods his head as Jake does that
Jake's Pokédex: Spearow's known moves are: Peck, Growl, Leer, and Fury Attack
Jake then puts away his Pokédex and turns to Spearow
"Are you ready to do this Spearow?" he asked
Spearow turns and nods it's head
"Let the match begin! Pinsir use Tackle!" commanded Samurai
Pinsir charges at Spearow
"Spearow, dodge and Peck from behind" ordered Jake
Spearow dodges Pinsir's Tackle and flew behind it. Spearow then pecks Pinsir's back which causes major damage.
"Pinsir, shake off the attack and use Vice Grip on Spearow" commanded Samurai
Pinsir comes at Spearow with it's pincers sticking out
"Uh oh! Spearow, dodge them all. Don't let Pinsir catch you!" warned Jake
Spearow got out of the way as Pinsir attempts to grab it with it's pincers.
"Now Spearow. Give Pinsir a Leer!" commanded Jake
Spearow uses Leer which causes Pinsir to be intimidated
"What does Leer do?" asked Green
"It's a move that lowers the defense of a Pokémon." answered Misty
"Spearow, while Pinsir is scared, charge in and use Fury Attack" commanded Jake
Spearow charges at Pinsir
"Pinsir, snap out of it and use another Vice Grip!" ordered Samurai
But just as Spearow got close, Pinsir grabs Spearow with it's pincers. Jake gasped in shock along with his Bulbasaur
"Oh no! Pinsir caught Spearow!" said Ash
"Pikachu!" said his Pikachu
"This is not good" said Green in worry
"Now, throw Spearow!" commanded Samurai
Pinsir throws Spearow away. It hits a nearby tree.
"Spearow!" cried Jake until he notices the tree
"Now Pinsir, another Tackle!" ordered Samurai
Pinsir charges at Spearow
"Bulbasaur!" shouted Bulbasaur
"Spearow quick, get out of the way!" warned Jake
Spearow heard it's trainer and quickly flew to the right. Pinsir then crashes into the tree and got it's pincers stuck.
"Pinsir!" shouted Samurai
"Whoa. Pinsir's stuck" said Green
"That should give Jake the chance to strike" said Ash
"Pikachu!" said Pikachu as he was cheering for Jake
"Okay Spearow, let Pinsir have it with Fury Attack and then follow it up with Peck!" commanded Jake
Spearow flew up and charges at Pinsir. It then begins to use Fury Attack. Spearow then begins to use Peck which gives deals more damage to Pinsir. Pinsir then slumps down defeated
"Pinsir, no!" shouted Samurai
"Alright!" said Green in excitement
"Jake sure used some good strategy there" said Misty impressed
"Yeah! You go, Jake!" said Ash
Spearow then flew over to Jake
"You did great, Spearow!" said Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
"Spearow" said Spearow with a smile
"You have battled honorably, Pinsir. Return" said Samurai as he returned Pinsir to it's Poké Ball. He then looks at Jake "Well done. You have defeated one of my Pokémon. Now you will face my second Pokémon. Go Metapod!"
He throws out another Poké Ball and Metapod comes out
"Metapod"
"He has his own Metapod?" Jake asked
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur with a sweat dropped
"Wait. Metapod can only use Harden in battle, right?" asked Green
"That's true, Green" said Misty with an annoyed look. "Samurai is gonna keep increasing his Metapod's attack until his opponent tires out. A dull strategy if I do say so myself"
"But I'm sure it's nothing that Jake can handle" said Ash confidently
"Pikachu" said Ash's Pikachu
Jake then comes up with an idea
"Spearow, take five" said Jake as he returns Spearow to it's Poké Ball and drew another Poké Ball. "Vaporeon, I choose you!"
Jake throws his Poké Ball and Vaporeon comes out
"Vaporeon" said Vaporeon
"No way! He has a Vaporeon?" said Green in surprise "Did he already evolved his Eevee?"
"Actually, Green. Jake caught it as a wild Pokémon" explained Ash
"Pikachu" said his Pikachu
"You're kidding." said Green in disbelief
Ash responds by shaking his head
"Let the match continue" said Samurai "Metapod, Harden"
Metapod begins to increased it's defenses
"You may try to defend yourself from Physical attacks, Samurai. But it won't do any good against Special attacks. Vaporeon, Water Gun attack!" Jake commanded
Vaporeon shoots Water Gun which pushes Metapod back.
"Stay strong, Metapod! Use another Harden" commanded Samurai
Metapod raises it's defenses again
"Relying on defense alone isn't gonna help you win battles. Sometimes you need to go on the offensive as well" said Jake
Green smiled as she heard Jake telling all this to Samurai
"Vaporeon, show them by using your Quick Attack!" ordered Jake
Vaporeon speeds in with Quick Attack which knocks Metapod into the air. Samurai gasped at this
"Now jump up and use Tackle on Metapod" commanded Jake
Vaporeon jumps after Metapod and just as Metapod comes down, Vaporeon tackles it. Metapod then hits the ground with swirls in it's eyes
"Metapod!" said Samurai in worry. He then falls to his knees. "I am defeated"
"He did it! Jake won!" cheered Green
"Oh yeah! You go, Jake!" said Ash as he cheered for his best friend
"Pikachu!" cheered his Pikachu
"He sure used some good strategies there. I am impressed" said Misty as she smiled
"Good work, Vaporeon. You did us proud" said Jake as knelt down
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
Vaporeon smiled begins to jump into Jake's arms and begin to cuddle him. This caused Jake to laugh
Samurai just smiled as he returns Metapod. He then stood back up. Samurai then walks up to him
"That was an excellent battle. You have proven yourself to be a worthy opponent" said Samurai with a bow
"Thank you, Samurai. I am truly honored" said Jake. He returned Vaporeon to it's Poké Ball, stood up and bowed back. Ash then walks up
"Okay. You two had your match. It's my turn to battle you now" he said
"Very well. But let me heal my Pokémon first" said Samurai
Ash and Samurai both got ready for their match. Jake and Bulbasaur sat next to Green on the sides. Misty and Ash's Pikachu are watching too.
"Pidgeotto, do your stuff!" said Ash as he let's Pidgeotto out of it's Poké Ball. But when Pidgeotto came out, it was lying on the ground clearly exhausted from it's battle with Weedle
"Uh oh" said Ash
"Ash, don't you know that you have to let your Pokémon rest once in a while?" asked Misty
Jake, Green, and Bulbasaur both sweat drop at this
"She does have a point" said Jake
"Bulba" said Bulbasaur
"Only a novice goes into battle with a pooped up Pokémon. Your blunder will cost you dearly! Pinsir, assume battle mode!" Samurai said as he lets out his Pinsir. Pinsir came out ready to redeem itself for it's defeat.
"That Pinsir looks pretty tough, but Pidgeotto can beat it" said Ash
"Pidgeo" chirped his Pidgeotto
"Jake. Do you think Ash would win this battle?" Green asked
"Well, Green. Given that Pidgeotto was already exhausted from battling Weedle, Ash is going to have a difficult time with the condition that Pidgeotto is in. But who knows, Ash might come up with something" answered Jake
Ash and Samurai then began the match. Pinisir shows it's pinsers
"Pidgeotto, Sand Attack!" ordered Ash
Pidgeotto flaps it's wings to blow sand everywhere to blind Pinsir. But Pinsir doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all.
"That's child's play! Pinsir, tackle it!" Samurai ordered. Pinsir charges through the sand and tackles Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto then fell to the ground and couldn't get up
"That was quick" said Green as she frowned
"I know. If Pidgeotto was at full strength, Ash would've easily defeated Pinsir with the type advantage. But now he really put himself in a major disadvantage" replied Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur in disappointment
Samurai laughed trimphantly at his Pinsir's victory
"Your Pokémon is beaten" he said with a smirk
"Pidgeotto, return!" Ash said as he returned Pidgeotto to it's Poké Ball.
"Novice, are you ready to surrender?" asked Samurai
"No way. I'm just getting warmed up." retorted Ash "Metapod, I choose you now!"
Ash throws another Poké Ball and lets out his Metapod
"Ash has his own Metapod?" asked Green
"He sure does, Green. In fact, it's his first caught Pokémon when we were in this forest. It evolved not too long ago" answered Jake
"I see" said Green
"Watch and weep as my Pinsir crushes your Metapod in half!" said Samurai as his Pinsir showed it's claws
Ash gasped as he imagines Pinsir using the claws on it's head to cut Metapod in half
"Those claws" he said in fright
"Ash, call off Metapod. Not even a bug deserves this!" Misty said to him
"This match is already won!" declared Samurai as his Pinsir charges at Metapod
"I can't look" said Green as she covers her eyes. Jake then thought of something
"Ash, remember Samurai's Metapod? It knows Harden. Maybe your Metapod knows it too!" he called to his friend
Ash gasps in realization
"You're right. Metapod, Harden now!" he called to Metapod
Metapod hardens it's shell. Pinsir grabs Metapod in it's pincers and attempts to crush it. But because Metapod hardened it's shell, Pinsir ends up damaging it's pincers
"Pikachu" said Ash's Pikachu
"It worked!" said Misty
Green uncovers her eyes and sees that Metapod is okay
"That was close. Metapod was almost a goner back there" she said in relief
"But it isn't thanks to Metapod' hardening it's shell" replied Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur with a smile
"So, now who's the novice?" asked Ash with a smirk
"Pinsir, return!" said Samurai as he recalls Pinsir. "Clever. Quite clever. Poké Ball, go!"
He throws another Poké Ball and lets out his own Metapod to face Ash's
"Metapod vs. Metapod?" puzzled Green
"Something tells me that this gonna take a while" said Jake
"You're right about that part, Jake" said Misty as she sat with them. "This match is gonna end in a stalemate as both Metapods can only use Harden"
"Metapod, Harden like his!" commanded Samurai
His Metapod raises it's defense
"Maximum hardness, Metapod!" said Ash
Both Metapod begins to harden their shells as their defensive battle begins. Hours have passed as the Metapods were still going at it. The other pass the time to relax as they wait for the battle to end. Misty and Pikachu were sun bathing with some drinks. Green was taking a nap while Jake and Bulbasaur were eating some traveling snacks that he fortunately packed.
"More power... Metapod. Samurai's is weakening" said Ash as he tries to focus on the battle
"Harder... You're the stronger Metapod" said Samurai as he also struggles to focus on the battle
As time passes, Ash and Samurai were still continuing their battle with their Metapods. They were struggling in the heat.
"A little more!" grunted Ash
"Metapod, full power!" grunted Samurai
The other were done relaxing and continue to watch them.
"How long have they been going at it?" asked Green with a yawn
"I'd say a few hours. And both of them are not giving in" said Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur as it shook his head
"We can be stuck in this forest for the rest of our lives. Boys can be so stubborn" said Misty. But this earns her a glare from Jake
"Hey, I'm a boy too, you know!" he yelled
Misty flinches at what he said. She then laughs nervously
"Sorry"
Just then, the group see Ash and Samurai both fell over though they were persistent in beating each other no matter what.
"I suppose we can call this match a draw" said Jake
"Agreed" replied Green
Bulbasaur nods it's head
"You two are more hard-headed than your Metapods!" Misty yelled in frustration
Suddenly, the sound of buzzing filled the air.
"What's that noise?" asked Green
"That sounds like buzzing." said Jake
"A Beedrill swarm approaches. Our match must end! Metapod, return!" said Samurai as he returned his Metapod.
Just then a swarm of Beedrill came out and are getting closer. Everyone gasped as they came

That concludes the second part of my version of Challenge of the Samurai. I know I said that Green will join them in this chapter, but she will officially join Ash and Jake's group in the third part. I hope you enjoy!
