The Water Flowers of Cerulean City
We join Ash and Jake and their friends as they head down the path to their next destination.
"It's a great day to enjoy the sunshine" said Ash as he stretches his arms up
"That's funny. I seem to recall you being angry at Gary for calling you a loser" said Jake
"I guess I got that part carried away" replied Ash sheepishly
"Who's Gary?" asked Green curiously
"He's Ash's rival, Green. He's very arrogant and believed that he himself would be a Pokémon Master. Not to mention, he is also Professor Oak's grandson" answered Jake
"I did not know that. He kinda sounds like a nasty person with the way you describe him" said Green
"You could say that" said Jake
"That reminds me, while you're enjoying the sunshine, Gary's catching more Pokémon" Brock told Ash
This caused Ash to freeze in his tracks
"But I guess a Pokémon trainer can capture Pokémon and enjoy the sun" continued Brock
"Thanks for telling us, Brock" said Jake as Green giggles
"Hey, wait a minute!" called Misty as she was catching up to them from behind
"Misty? Where have you been? Weren't you catching up to us?" asked Green
"I uh, had to take care of something. But never mind that. Where do you think your going?" asked Misty
"Where else? To Cerulean City" answered Jake much to Misty's shock
"Ah! Cerulean City!? Why are you two going there for?!" she asked as she took a step back
"Well, it's none of your business, but me and Jake are going there for more badges" said Ash
"Yeah" added Jake
"Uh, Ash. You and Jake don't want Pokémon from there. Trust me" said Misty nervously. This caused the others to get suspicious
"Why not?" asked Ash
"Because there all..." began Misty
"All what Misty?" asked Green with her eyes narrowed
"...very scary Ghost Pokémon that look like this. Like a monster" said Misty as she made a scary face.
Brock and Green both sweat drop at this while Bulbasaur was looking at Misty suspiciously. Ash and Jake look at each other and then bursts out in laughter
"Nice face, Misty!" laughed Ash
"Yeah, you really had us going there. Come on guys" chortled Jake as he and the others started down the trail
"Hey, hey! Wait a second!" Misty yelled as she desperately tries to block their path
"Hey, what about Vermillion City? It's right on the water and there's lots of neat Pokémon. And you can watch all the giant yachts pulling into the harbor. And there's a little park way up on a hill where you can sit and watch the sunset. It's so romantic." she claimed
'Why do I get the feeling that Misty is hiding something?' thought Jake as he narrows his eyes
"It's much nicer than that old Cerulean City. So let's get going!" said Misty as she tries to convince her friends
"Okay, let's go" said Ash as he acted that he was going to comply
"Really?" asked Misty hopefully
"Sorry Misty, we're heading to Cerulean City. That's where we're going to get our next badge" said Jake as he and Ash went ahead followed by Brock, Green, Pikachu, and Bulbasaur.
Misty watches them leave
"I never wanted to wind up back here" she muttered
The group then arrived at Cerulean City.
"So this is Cerulean City" said Ash
"Pretty nice place. Isn't it?" asked Brock
"It sure is" said Jake
"I'll say" added Green. She looks back to see that Misty is not there. "Where's Misty?"
"That's weird. She's not following us anymore" said Ash
"She really didn't want to come to Cerulean City. Did she?" asked Brock
"You could say that, Brock. But that is strange. Why is Misty so against coming here?" asked Jake
"Saur" said Bulbasaur suspiciously
"Yeah. I wonder why she hates this place so much." said Ash
Before anyone can answer, Ash shrugs his shoulder
"Eh, we'll never figure out girls." said he said. Unfortunately, this earned him a smack in the cheek from Green
"Watch what you're saying, Ash! I'm a girl too!" yelled Green offended
"Sorry" said Ash as he rubbed his cheek
'And this is why you should never get on a girl's bad side' thought Jake as he shook his head at his friend's foolishness
The four trainers walked around Cerulean City, until they see a crowd of people at a large store
"What's going on over there?" asked Green
"The police? I wonder what happened?" asked Ash
The friends runs over and made their way through he crowd until they got in front
"Excuse me. What happened here?" Jake asked a man
"Some burglars broke into that store, last night." explained the man
"Burglars?" asked Green
"What do you know about burglars?"
The trainers turn to see Officer Jenny in front of them. She has a suspicious look
"The four of you look very suspicious to me"
"Officer Jenny. It's so nice to see you again" greeted Jake
"Saur" said Bulbasaur
"Again? I'm sorry. Do I know you?" the officer asked
"Don't you remember? You helped me and Jake get to the Pokémon Center in Viridian City" reminded Ash much to the officer's surprise
"Huh? Oh, you two must've met my sister-in-law. If you met my sister-in-law, that means you probably have some dealings with the police in Viridian" said Officer Jenny
"What do you mean, Officer?" asked Jake
"What I mean, young man is that maybe you asked her for directions. Or maybe you found a wallet on the street and turned it in to her. Or maybe your burglars who broke out of jail!" yelled Officer Jenny as she took out a pair of handcuffs. This shocks the groups
"I've never been to jail!" said Ash in horror
"I sure haven't and I don't want to" added Jake in pure shock
"That goes double for me" added Green
"Neither have I ma'am" said Brock
"That's what they all say!" claimed Officer Jenny
"But we just got into town and saw the crowd. So we came over to see what was going on" explained Brock
"The criminal always return to the scene of the crime" said Officer Jenny with a smirk
"Here, Officer. Maybe this will clear things up" said Jake as he takes out his Pokédex
Jake's Pokédex: I am Dexter, a Pokédex programmed by Professor Oak for Pokémon Trainer: Jake Serling of the town of Pallet. My function is to provide Jake with information and advice regarding Pokémon and their training. If lost or stolen, I cannot be replaced.
Ash and Green followed his example as they show the officer their identification with their Pokédexes
"Yeah, and I was the leader of the Pewter City gym" said Brock as he holds up the Boulder Badge
"Well, that's evidence enough for me. I'm sorry I was suspicious. Now I'm suspicious of my sister-in-law. She sure has weird taste in friends" said Officer Jenny as she puts the cuffs away
"Um, Miss. I was wondering. Since I'm new in town, maybe we can get together tonight. And you could show me around" offered Brock
'Is he seriously trying to ask her out' thought Jake as he looks at Brock
"Well, I'm not off duty till past your bedtime, and I might even have to work around the clock to catch the burglars" said Officer Jenny bluntly. This caused Brock to slump down for being shot down
"What did these burglars steal?" asked Jake
"That's the strange thing about it. They didn't take any money. Just a massive vacuum and a giant hose" informed Officer Jenny
"But why would they steal those things?" asked Green
"I'm sure I don't know, young lady. But I do know that I don't have time to play guessing games with you, because I've got a job to do. And it's time for you four to move along. Come on! Let's go!" the officer said as she pushed them away and then went back to her work as she gets the crowd to move along.
The four trainers were now sitting in the park. Ash, Brock, and Pikachu were sitting on one bench while Jake, Bulbasaur, and Green were sitting in another.
"Good thing me, Jake, and Green have Dexter and you had your badge" Ash said to Brock
"You said it, Ash." said Jake
"Yeah. I sure am lucky I kept mine in my bag" replied Green
"Shouldn't you and Jake be heading to the Cerulean City gym?" Brock ask Ash
"Yeah" he said
"Hey Brock. You got any info on the gym leader there?" asked Jake
"Huh?" puzzled Brock
"Me and Ash want to find out about the specialty of this gym leader before we begin our match" continued Jake
"What he said. And besides: 'Know yourself, know your adversary, and you hold the key to victory' quoted Ash
"Those are some wise words, Ash. Where did you learn that? asked Green
"From Dexter" answered Ash
"Well I never actually met the trainer here, but I know his Pokémon's special moves." said Brock
"And what would that be?" asked Jake
"Sorry, Jake. But I can't give you or Ash that information" replied Brock
"Why not?" asked Ash
"I'm a gym leader too after all. I can't tell you out of respect. I hope you both understand" replied Brock
"I guess you're right, Brock. Looks like me and Ash will find out for ourselves" said Jake with Bulbasaur and Green nodding their heads
"You said it, buddy" said Ash
"Pika pika" said Pikachu
They got up from the benches and are about to get to the gym. Brock then begins to part ways with the group
"Well, I have some stuff I need to check out" said the former Pewter Gym leader
"What kind of stuff?" asked Jake
"Just stuff. See you guys later" said Brock as he left
"See ya, Brock" said Green as she waved her hand
"Come on guys. To the gym" said Ash
"We're right behind you, Ash" said Jake
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said as Green nods her head
The three trainers were walking through the city. Ash was holding a map to find the gym
"Cerulean City Gym. Cerulean City Gym. It should be right around here someplace" said Ash as he and his friends goes around the corner
"Could that be it?" asked Green as she pointed to a building with a Dewgong on it
"Well it does say Cerulean Gym. This must be the place" said Jake
"Let's go in" said Ash
The three trainers went in and were surprise to see a crowd of people watching something. It appears to be a show around a pool.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Please welcome the stars of our show: The Sensational Cerulean City Synchronized Swimming Sisters!" said an announcer as the spotlight shined on three girls on a high diving board. One has blonde hair, one has blue hair, and the last has pink hair. They were waving at the crowd who chants their names.
"Lily! Violet! Daisy!"
The three trainers were shock by this
The three girls then leaped off the diving board and into the pool of water. They then begin to perform their synchronized swimming.
"Wow. They're good" said Green in amazement
"Saur" said Bulbasaur
"I thought this was the Pokémon Gym" said Ash in confusion as his Pikachu was entranced by the performance
The three girls then finished their synchronized swimming. All the people cheered for them. Even Green clapped for them
"Impressive. Come on guys. Let's go" said Jake as he and Bulbasaur left with Green and Ash following him.
The three friends then made their way downstairs
"I can't understand it" said Ash
Just as they got off the stairs, Ash, Green, and Jake gasp to see that the hallway has an aquarium
"Wow. Look at all this" said Green
"Yeah, it's like an aquarium. How can this be a Pokémon Gym?" Ash asked as they look at some of the Water Pokémon behind the glass
"I guess this gym specializes in Water Type Pokémon" replied Jake
He then notices a blue Pokémon with a swirl on it's belly and a tail swimming by. Jake takes out his Pokédex to scan it
Jake's Pokédex: Poliwag, the Tadpole Pokémon. Its newly grown legs prevent it from running. It appears to prefer swimming than trying to stand.
"That was totally awesome!"
The three trainers turn to see the three girls who were walking down the hall
"I know. That was so great. Daisy, the dive you did was super" the blue haired girl said to the girl known as Daisy
"Practice really paid off" said Daisy
"Totally" said the pink haired girl
The three girls then share a laugh. Ash, Jake, Green, along with Bulbasaur and Pikachu walks up to them
"Pardon us ladies. We were wondering..." began Jake only to get cut off
"Sorry, but if you want an interview, you have to like call our manager" said the pink haired girl
"No, it's not that" said Ash
"We don't do autographs" said the pink haired girl bluntly
"We're not here for any of those. Me and my friends want to know if this is really the Cerulean Gym." said Green
"It sure is" said Daisy
"In that case, we're looking for the gym leader. Do you any of you ladies know where he is?" asked Jake
"Why you're looking at them!" answered the blue haired girl
"What?" puzzled the three trainers
The three sisters then begin to introduce themselves
"The three of us are the gym trainers here." said Daisy
"We're the Sensational Sisters" said the pink haired girl
"We're world famous" added the blue haired girl
This leaves the three friends in shock
"Huh? But what's with all that swimming?" asked Ash in bewilderment
"It's like our hobby. And our fans like to watch us perform" answered the pink haired girl
"We pool our talent to make a big splash" said the blue haired girl
The three sister then laugh together which caused Ash and Pikachu to nearly fall over. Jake and Green on the other hand only sweat drop at this. Jake's Bulbasaur just watch this in surprise.
They then head over to the pool where the Gym battle is taking place. The two boys then got ready for the gym challenge as Green watches them
"Come on. Me and Jake challenge all three of you!" said Ash
"Pika" said Pikachu as he sparked his cheek
"What he said" said Jake
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur as it got ready
Unfortunately, the three sisters didn't feel ready
"We don't feel much like battling anymore" said Daisy
"What do you mean?" asked Jake as he and Ash sweat drop
"We just got beaten 2 times in a row by some kids from this nowhere place called Pallet Town" responded the blue haired girl
'I guess Elaine is still doing her gym match in Pewter City' thought Jake
"It was just one defeat after another. My eyes were spinning from all the losses" said the blue haired girl
"We had to like practically rushed all our Pokémon to the Pokémon Center" added Daisy
"This is the only one left" said the pink haired girl as she enlarges a Poké Ball and opens it. Out comes a Goldeen who is flopping on the floor
"You mean, all you have is a Goldeen?" asked Ash as the pink haired girl returns Goldeen to it's Poké Ball
"If it would evolve into Seaking, we could use it. But all it can do is Horn Attack" responded the blue haired girl
"So, there's like no point in battling" added Daisy
"Now instead of having matches, we have time to make ourselves more beautiful than ever" said the pink haired girl ecstatically
"That's disappointing" muttered Green as she heard their conversation
"I know what you boys want" said Daisy as she clapped her hands
"Seel!" she called
Just then, a white seal like Pokémon comes out. Green takes out her Pokédex and scans Seel
Green's Pokédex: Seel, the Sea Lion Pokémon. The protruding horn on its head is very hard. It is used for bashing through thick ice.
Seel opens it's mouth to reveal two badges. Daisy takes them and shows it to the two boys
"Cascade Badges. This is what you two want right? You can have it" said Daisy which surprises Ash and Jake
"Thanks. But I'd rather earn my badges" said Ash with hesitance
"Take it. A Badge is a badge" insisted Daisy
"That's true. But this still doesn't feel right. A gym badge should only be given if we earned it in a gym match. If me and Ash just take it, then what kind of trainers are we." said Jake
Ash was surprised at what Jake said. Even Green smiled at what he said
The three sisters were stunned by this. But before any of them can say anything,
"Hold it right there!"
Everyone turn to see Misty on the bleachers
"Misty?!" yelled Ash, Jake, and Green in surprise
"Saur!" said Bulbasaur in surprise
"Cha" said Pikachu happily
"Hi-yah!" yelled Misty as she leaps off the bleachers and down to the battlefield
"Alright, Daisy! If you don't want to battle them! I will" she yelled
"What?!" yelled Ash and Jake
