Charmander – The Stray Pokémon
We join our heroes as they are still lost on the way to Vermillion City. Ash is currently looking through some binoculars to find a new Pokémon, but all he ended up finding were some Spearows.
"There's nothing but Spearow around here" groaned Ash
"Well that's the least of our worries, isn't it?!" snapped Misty.
"Just because we're a little lost, doesn't mean I have to catch all the Pokémon I can doesn't it?" Ash asked
"Chu" Pikachu said
"Of course not. Enjoy yourself" Misty said
"And just when we thought our luck would change after we left the hidden village" Jake said
"I know. Once again, we are lost in the woods without any sense of directions" Green said
"Saur" said Jake's Bulbasaur
"I just can't go one step further. We've been looking for Vermillion City for 10 whole days!" shouted Misty as she flailed her arms around
"Uh, there's a bug on your..." Brock said as he points down
The moment Brock said the word "Bug", Misty shrieks and jumps onto Ash
"Get it away!"
"Ha! It was just a piece of grass!" Brock said as he held up a grass
This earns him a glare from Misty. Just as Brock laughed, Misty kicks him right in the face knocking him down. Jake and Green winced at this
"You were really asking for that, Brock" said Jake
"I'm going crazy! Where are we!?" Misty shouted
Ash catches the map that fell after Misty had kicked Brock. He then looks at it
"According to this, we're right in the middle of Nowhere. But it looks like Route 24 leads right to Vermillion City" Ash said as he pointed where they are on the map.
"Does this trail take us to Route 24?" Misty asked hopefully
"According to my calculations, it does" Ash answered
"Alright! Then let's get this show on the road!" Misty said as she grabs her bag and runs down the trail. But she stops when she sees something ahead. "Huh? Hey guys. Take look at this."
Everyone also looks over
"What can it be?" Green asked
"It must be some kind of giant Pokémon" Ash guessed "Pikachu"
Pikachu hid behind a bag in fright
"Pikachu" Ash said in annoyance
The group then gets closer to the figure. When they got a closer look, they see that it is a Charmander on a rock.
"A Charmander" Brock said
"One of the starter Pokémon" Jake added
"Char" whined Charmander
This caused Ash, Brock, and Misty to fall over. Jake and Green both looked at them with a sweat drop.
"Saur" Bulbasaur said as it shook it's head
After recovering from falling over, Ash gets up and scans Charmander with his Pokédex
Ash's Pokédex: Charmander. A flame burns on the tip of its tail from birth. It is said that a Charmander dies if its flame ever goes out.
Green widens her eyes at that
"Wait. Did it say that Charmander will die if the flame on it's tail goes out?" she asked in worry
"It sure did" Jake said
"When I went to get my first Pokémon from Professor Oak, I was disappointed cause I couldn't get a Charmander" Ash said
"Well now this could be your chance to get one, buddy" Jake said
"Oh yeah" Ash said
"I don't know. It looks like it's in bad shape" Misty pointed out
"Hey. You're right" Green said as she looked closer
"Yeah. Catch it and we'll take it to Pokémon Center for help" Brock said
Ash turns his cap and throws a Poké Ball. "Poké Ball go!"
Charmander sees it coming and deflects the Poké Ball back with it's tail. Ash catches it
"It looks pretty healthy to me" he said. "You think I should have Pikachu battle it first to weaken it and make it easier to catch?"
"Why don't you let me catch it? My Water Pokémon would be stronger against Charmander" Misty offered
"I would hold off on that if I were you. Look at Charmander's tail" Green said as she points at Charmander's tail
Everyone turn to see that the flame on Charmander's tail is small.
"Green is right. There's no way it could still have the strength to battle. Ash, try your Poké Ball one more time" Brock said to Ash
"Alright, I will. Poké Ball go!" Ash yelled as he threw a Poké Ball at Charmander again. This time, the Poké Ball was able to capture Charmander. "Alright!"
But Charmander broke out of the Poké Ball and it flew back which hits Ash in the head.
"Are you okay, Ash?" Jake asked
"I think so" Ash said as he rubs his head
Charmander was looking at them with an annoyed look
"It sure has a lot of spunk" Brock said
"A little too much if you ask me" Ash added
"I think we only seem to be annoying it" Green replied
Pikachu and Bulbasaur decides to step in. They both climbed on the rock and begins to have a talk with Charmander. After finishing their conversation, the two Pokémon went back to their trainers.
"So what's the story, Pikachu?" Ash asked
Pikachu then begins to make some movements
"A necktie?" Misty guessed
"Hmm. A man maybe?" Ash asked
Both Pikachu and Bulbasaur cried out in affirmation. Pikachu then began to make another gesture
"I don't know what that means" Green said
"Hey Ash, Jake. Why don't you two try to figure our what your Pokémon are saying" Brock suggested
"Okay" Jake said
The group kneels down to the Pokémon's level. Pikachu and Bulbasaur both told them. They listened and nod to what they are saying.
"Okay I think I got it" Ash said
"Me too" Jake said
"Pikachu and Bulbasaur are saying that Charmander is waiting on that rock for somebody to come and get it" Ash explained
"Not only that, but Charmander already belongs to a trainer." Jake added
"Are you two sure Charmander belongs to somebody?" Green asked
"We don't know for sure. But it could be a possibility" Jake replied
"Well if Charmander's waiting for someone, I think we better leave it. It's probably best if it's own trainer takes care of it" Brock said
"I hope it's trainer comes back soon" Ash said
The friends then walks off leaving Charmander alone. Green takes one last look at Charmander with a sad glance. She then runs to catch up with her friends.
The five trainers then walks down to where Route 24 might be. Misty then spots something ahead.
"Hey you guys! Look over there! It's the Pokémon Center!" she said
"The one on the map" Ash said
"Looks like we're close to Route 24" Jake added
Suddenly it started to rain
"Oh no! It's starting to rain. And I didn't even bring an umbrella" Green said as she covers herself with her hands
"Hurry!" Ash yelled as he and his friends rushed inside the Pokémon Center.
Meanwhile, Charmander is still on the rock with nothing but a leaf to cover himself unaware of the fact that the fire on it's tail is starting to dwindle.
Back in the Pokémon Center, the five trainers have gotten themselves safe and warm. Misty was giving them soup.
"Here's some nice hot soup" she said
"Thanks, Misty" said Ash
"Thank you" Green said
"Have some soup, Brock, Jake. Huh? What's wrong?" Misty asked as she notices Brock and Jake thinking about something
"I wonder. Did anybody picked up that Charmander yet? What if it's trainer left it there?" Brock wondered
"Like someone had abandoned Charmander? That's awful! If someone did that, then they would have to be very cruel and heartless" Green said in worry
"I have to agree with Green. I don't think that Charmander would wait around this long. Do you?" Ash asked Brock
"I don't either, Ash. It's trainer must've gotten it by now" Brock answered
Jake then begins to look out the window. Bulbasaur and Green notices him doing that
"Worried about Charmander?" asked Green
"Saur?" Bulbasaur asked
"You can say that. There's no way Charmander would last that long out there with the weather like this. I sure would like to know who told it to wait on that rock" Jake said as he clenched his fist.
Just then, laughter caught the group's attention. They group sees a bunch of trainers with a bunch of Poké Balls on the table.
"Just look at 'em. It's a pretty cool collection" said a trainer with blue hair and glasses on his head
"Way cool" chuckled one of the trainers
"You're the man, Damian" said the other trainer
"Yo! I thought you had a Charmander too?!" the third trainer questioned
"Yeah, I had one. But that puny thing is so weak, it couldn't even beat the weakest opponents" said the guy now known as Damian.
Their conversation was overheard by the five friends who were glaring at them
"I don't like his attitude" Misty added
"Charmander may be weak against Water Pokémon, but if their trainer's work hard, they can be strong." Brock said
"I don't think he sees it that way" Green said as she glares at Damian
Even Bulbasaur was glaring at them
"So what did you do with the Charmander?" asked the fourth trainer
"Eh, I left it on some rock in the woods" Damian replied
The five friends widen their eyes in shock at what he said
"That thing is so stupid. No matter what I do to it, it keeps on following me. I finally got rid of it by promising I'd come back for it. It fell for it. It's probably still there waiting for me" Damian said with a laugh which makes all is other friends join in.
Hearing this made Jake and Green very furious. They couldn't believe how selfish and uncaring that Damian sounded after he admitted that he abandoned his Charmander. Even Ash, Misty, and Brock were angry at this. Bulbasaur growled at Damian
"He's the one that abandoned that Charmander" Ash said
"Yeah and it's still waiting for him on that rock" Misty added in disgust
Just as Brock was about to get up, Jake immediately got up and storms over to Damian and his friends. His friends were surprised at this
"Jake?" Green asked
"What are you doing?" Ash asked
"I bet it's still up there wagging it's tail" the third trainer smirked
"It'll probably wag it so long, it'll put the flame out" the fourth trainer added
"Yeah for sure" Damian said as he continues to laugh
Suddenly, Jake grabbed him by the vest and pulls him up
"Hey!"
"You horrid excuse for a trainer! Get out there and bring Charmander back! Now!" Jake demanded
"Jake" Ash said in concern. He had never seen his best friend this angry
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur in worry
"Why should I?" Damian asked
"Because your Charmander's trainer! You lied to that Pokémon and said that you'll come back for it. And now it's waiting out in the rain for you! If the flame on it's tail goes out, then Charmander will die! And you think this is funny!? Do you have any shame at all?!" screamed Jake
"Oi, what I do is none of your business" said Damian as he got out of Jake's grip
All of Jake's friends then walks up to confront Damian
"Do what Jake said!" Ash yelled
"What did you say nerd?" Damian asked
"You heard what I said. And you want to be a Pokémon trainer!" Ash retorted
"You're disgusting!" Misty said bitterly
"You are a disgrace to Pokémon trainers everywhere! Especially your friends!" Green added angrily
"Pika pika!" Pikachu growled
"Saur saur!" Bulbasaur growled
"You want to fight with me?" Damian asked as he picked up a Poké Ball from the pile
"You better not mess with Damian" said one of his friends
"Too late" retorted Jake
"Let's go" Ash said
As the two groups were staring down each other, Nurse Joy comes in and claps her hands.
"Let's break it up! You know the rules!" Nurse Joy scolded. Everyone turns to look at her. "Pokémon are never to be used in personal fights! It's disrespectful to the Pokémon and their trainers"
"Yeah? Well tell them! They were the ones who had started it!" scoffed Damian as he and his friends walk off. One of the friends gathered up all the Poké Balls and follows after him.
"What a bunch of jerks!" Jake grumbled as he watches them leave
Green walks over and places a hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur as he rubbed against his leg
Their gesture cause Jake to smile
"I think you'd be better off not to get mixed up with them. They have a very bad reputation" Nurse Joy advised
"Uh. Thanks for the advice" Brock said with a blush. Nurse Joy giggles and walks off
"She sure is pretty. I'd never seen anyone as pretty as her" Brock said as he was still blushing
'Looks like lover boy here has also fallen for Nurse Joy' Jake thought in amusement
"What are you talking about? She looks just like all the other Joys" Misty reminded
"It's sure a joyful world" Green replied
"Alright, snap out of it" Ash said as he shook Brock on the shoulder. This snapped him back to reality
"Guys! What about Charmander?!" Jake reminded
"Ah! That's right! We have to help it!" Brock cried
The five trainers raced out of the Pokémon Center to find Charmander. This time they were wearing raincoats so they don't get wet.
"This is dangerous. Going out in the storm like this to help a Pokémon. What if we all catch pneumonia?" Misty asked as she was unsure about what they're doing
"Well you can always go back to the Pokémon Center" Jake said
"Gotta help a Pokémon in need" Misty said with a wink
Meanwhile, Charmander was still on the rock with the leaf over it's head. A bunch of Spearows were watching it.
As the five trainers ran through the forest, they suddenly heard the Spearows
"I hear some Spearows up ahead" Green said
"Charmander must be in trouble. We gotta hurry" Jake replied as he and his friends runs faster
As they went up, the friends looked in horror to see some Spearows attacking Charmander. Ash took action by throwing a rock at them
"Knock it off!" Ash yelled
One of the Spearows got mad at this. It flew over and begins to attack Ash
"Bulbasaur, Vine Whip!" Jake said
Bulbasaur shot out it's vines and whips Spearow away
"Thundershock, Pikachu!" Ash ordered
Pikachu used Thundershock on the Spearows which zaps them. The Spearow flock then retreated. Pikachu then felt satisfied and when he turns around, he sees that he has also shocked the trainers as well.
"Next time, make sure you don't shock us too, Pikachu" Ash said
"What he said" added Jake
"Saur" Bulbasaur added
"Pikachu" Pikachu replied
After recovering from the shock, the five friends went over to Charmander. They see that the condition of it's tail
"Oh no! The flame on Charmander's tail is almost out!" Green gasped
Jake took off his jacket and places it over Charmander
"Let's get it to the Pokémon Center" said Brock as he put his raincoat over Charmander
"I'll make sure it's tail flame stays lit" Ash vowed as he put his raincoat on Charmander
"Then there's no time to lose! Charmander's life is on the line!" Jake yelled
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur yelled
The five trainers then racing back to the Pokémon Center while covering the Charmander with their jackets. Ash was checking on Charmander's tail
"Hold on! You can make it, Charmander!" Brock yelled
"We're almost to the Pokémon Center. Just hang on a little longer!" Green added as they raced through the forest
The five trainers finally reached the Pokémon Center. They burst through the door panting.
"Nurse Joy. You have to help us" Jake panted
Nurse Joy runs over
"What is it? What's wrong?" Nurse Joy asked
"This Charmander is in bad shape" Brock answered
"The flame on it's tail is getting smaller" Green added
This caused Nurse Joy to gasp
"There's not much time!" she said
As the storm continued outside, the five friends were in the ER where they were watching Nurse Joy checking on Charmander with a stethoscope. They were all looking very worried.
"Charmander is very weak. How could you let it get into this condition?!" Nurse Joy asked as she scolds them
"It's not our fault. That jerk, Damian was the one who abandoned Charmander" Jake explained
"What?" Nurse Joy said
"My friend is right. Damian promised Charmander he'd come back for it. Charmander's loyal to Damian, so it believed him" explained Ash
"Poor Charmander. And Damian left with the rest of them" Nurse Joy said sadly. Brock then runs up to her
"Joy, I'm begging you. Please, you have to save it! Charmander has to get better" he pleaded
Nurse Joy nods her head with a determined look
"I'll do whatever I can" she said
The five friends had to wait outside as Nurse Joy got to work on healing Charmander. It was a few minutes as the friends were waiting for Nurse Joy. Jake was sitting on the bench and was looking at the door. Green was sitting next to him. She notices his worried look
"Are you okay, Jake?" she asked
"I think so, Green. I hope Charmander is doing okay in there" Jake answered
"Don't worry. I'm sure Nurse Joy is doing the best she can to help it." assured Green
"You know, you're right, Green. I just need to have faith that Charmander will pull through" Jake said
Green smiled as she pats Jake on the shoulder. Bulbasaur also smiled at Jake's positive attitude
'Charmander. You've got to hold on. Please, keep your flame burning' thought Brock as he was watching the door
Then, the light in the ER room sign goes off which catches the five trainers' attention. Nurse Joy comes out and gives them a peace sign which means that the treatment was a success, much to their relief.
"Charmander recovering. It should be fine by morning" Nurse Joy told them
The five trainers peek in the ER room to see Charmander resting.
'That's the spirit, Charmander' Brock thought happily
The next morning, Ash, Misty, Jake, and Green were sleeping in the lobby of the Pokémon Center. Then footsteps were heard
"Wake up, everybody!" Brock called out
Brock's voice startled Ash while Jake woke up in alarm. The girls slowly woke up. They looked to Brock panting
"What's up Brock?" Ash asked
"Yeah, what's with the wake-up call" Jake added
"It's Charmander! Charmander has disappeared from the ER!" Brock exclaimed
"What!?" Jake and Green yelled
"Saur?!" Bulbasaur yelled
They rushed into the ER. Nurse Joy was waiting for them with a frown on her face and the window was opened
"Charmander must've escaped through the window" Jake said as he notices the window
"I bet it went back to that rock to wait for Damian" Ash added
"After what he's done to it?!" Green yelled in shock
"I'm with Green on this one. We've got to go back!" Brock exclaimed
"But that's no use. We can't force Charmander to come with us if it wants to wait for Damian. Even if he is a lying creep" Misty said
"She's right. There's nothing you can do until Charmander realizes the truth" Nurse Joy added sadly
Jake frowned and look at the window.
Meanwhile, Charmander was walking back to the rock to wait for Damian. It turns around to look at the Pokémon Center. Charmander couldn't help but think back to when Ash, Jake and his friends saved it from death when it was raining. It now felt torn whether to go back and wait for Damian or go with those people that helped it.
With no other choice, Ash, Jake, and their friends left the Pokémon Center and started down the road. Brock was feeling down about Charmander
"I thought that Charmander understood that we cared about it" Brock sighed
"Brock. Charmander knew that we cared. But don't you see, Charmander couldn't forget about Damian" Ash told him
"Ash is right. Charmander's loyalty to Damian is still with it. That's why it went back to that rock" Jake added
"Yeah. And it's like Nurse Joy said: there's nothing we can do until Charmander realizes the truth" Green reminded
This makes Brock smile. Misty then hits him in the back.
"Come on. Route 24 is just ahead! Once we get to Vermillion City, they'll be plenty of Pokémon" Misty said as she took the lead
The others follow after her. Green looks to the trees as she was worried about Charmander
'Charmander. Wherever you are, be safe and good luck' she thought
As the group was continuing down the road. Pikachu and Bulbasaur were walking in front of the trainers. Just as the trainers were walking over, they suddenly feel something
"Hey, you feel something?" Ash asked
"I did" Brock added
"Feel what?" Misty asked
Jake looks down on the ground. It opened and the group falls in. Fortunately, Jake was able to grab the ledge and pulled himself out. Bulbasaur and Pikachu races over to the hole. Jake looks over to see his friends lying on the ground
"A pitfall trap? Now who could've done this?" he asked
They then notice someone. It was Team Rocket who appears to be wearing some suits
"I can't believe they fell for it" Meowth said
"Our invention worked. We're geniuses" Jessie added
"Team Rocket!" growled Jake
"Huh!? How did you get out of the trap!?" Jessie asked as she notices Jake
"Yeah. You're suppose to be down there with your friends" Meowth added as he points at the pit
"I guess I was smart to know that something was wrong here" Jake replied
"Never mind that. Come with us Pikachu and Bulbasaur. You two belong to us now" James said
Jake and Bulbasaur gritted their teeth at them. Pikachu then unleashes an Electric attack at them, but it doesn't affect the trio due to them wearing rubber suits. The Team Rocket trio then begins to laugh
"Rubber won't conduct electricity" James taunted
"Another example of our incredible genius at work" Jessie added mockingly
"That can't be good" Jake gulped
"You have to be a rocket scientist to outsmart. The Team Rocket scientist" James said
"We call these our anti-Pikachu suits. We made them ourselves. I must admit, I don't think this is really my color at all" Jessie added
"Enough talk! Let's just grab the Pikachu and Bulbasaur and get out of here!" Meowth exclaimed
Pikachu gasped and tries to flee
"We'll use our anti-Pikachu rubber balloon bazooka" James said as he takes out a bazooka
"Ready. Aim. Fire!" Jessie said
James shoots the bazooka and a red balloon comes out of it. The balloon then goes after Pikachu. It begins to close in
"Oh no! Bulbasaur, help Pikachu!" Jake yelled
Bulbasaur ran in to help Pikachu. Unfortunately, it was too late as the balloon absorbed Pikachu in it
"No!" Jake shouted
Pikachu tried to use it's Electric attacks, but it didn't do a thing as the balloon was made of rubber. Team Rocket then begins to taunt and gloat at Pikachu. Pikachu then lets out a yell which gathers Ash and the others' attention
"Pikachu!" Ash yelled
He tries to get back up, but ends up falling back down
"Ash! Are you guys okay?" Jake called
"We sure are, Jake." Ash asked
"You got out of the hole?" Green asked
"I sure did" Jake answered
"What's going on up there?" Ash asked
"It's Team Rocket! They got your Pikachu" Jake said
Jessie then begins to cackle. Ash and the others look up to see Team Rocket with a trapped Pikachu
"Hello down there. Thank you so much for dropping in" Jessie taunted
"Don't worry. Pikachu is safe with us. We won't lose it like you did" James taunted
"Pikachu!" Ash yelled
"Now it's Bulbasaur's turn" Meowth said as they turned to Jake and Bulbasaur
"If you want Bulbasaur, you'll have to battle us first" Jake said
"Saur!" growled his Bulbasaur
"That's the plan" Meowth said
But before they can battle, Charmander came up
"Charmander!"
"Charmander?" Jake said in surprised
"Bulbasaur?" Bulbasaur said
"What is that thing?" Jessie asked
"Char char mander!" Charmander demanded
"It's saying you better give Pikachu back to those guys right now" Meowth translated
"Yeah. What Charmander said" Jake said
"It's got to be kidding" Jessie said
"Now step aside you insolent little fire bug. We haven't gotten the time to play with you" James
"Team Rocket plays rough" Meowth said
Charmander then is about to let something out. Seeing this Jake looks at Bulbasaur
"Something tells me. We might want to take some steps back"
Jake and Bulbasaur both backed up.
"CHAR!" Charmander said as it unleashes a massive Flamethrower at the trio
Once the attack is done, the Team Rocket trio was burned. As they gaped at how strong Charmander was, the trio screamed and ran off while leaving Pikachu behind.
"You see? Didn't I tell you we needed fireproof uniforms?" James yelled
"Shut up and keep running!" Jessie yelled
"Some geniuses. Meowth" spat Meowth
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" they shouted
"Heh. Good work, Charmander. You really burned those guys up real good" Jake said as Bulbasaur chuckled at it's trainer's joke
"Charmander" Charmander said as it was rubbing the back of it's head
"Pikachu!"
They notice Pikachu still trapped in the balloon
"Don't worry, Pikachu. I'll get you out" Jake said
He ran over to the balloon and let's Pikachu out
"Pikachu" he said gratefully
"You're welcome" Jake said
"Is everything okay up there, Jake?" Green asked
Jake runs over to the hole
"Everything's fine, you guys. Charmander came back and drove Team Rocket away. Also, your Pikachu is safe, Ash" Jake informed them
"Pika pika" Pikachu said as he appears at the hole
"That's great! I sure am glad for that!" Ash said in relief
"Now can you get us out of here?" asked Misty
"No problem" Jake said
Jake had Bulbasaur used it's vines to help it's friends get out of the hole. After getting them out, Jake told the about how Charmander unleashed a massive Flamethrower which scared Team Rocket away. Needless to say, they were surprised
"Wow. Thanks for the help Charmander" Brock said to it gratefully
"You see, Brock? Charmander knew we cared. That's why it's here" Misty said
Green nods her head
"Charmander. How would you like to join up with us? I'm afraid you 'trainer' isn't going to come back" Ash said as he offered Charmander to join up with them
"Yeah. Unlike Damian, we all care for our Pokémon and see them as our family" Jake added
"Saur" Bulbasaur
As Charmander begins to think about it. A voice catches their attention
"Hey Charmander. Been looking all over for you"
The friends turn to see Damian
"Damian. It's you" Ash said
"What do you want?" Green asked with a glare
"I came back for Charmander. Just like I promised" Damian responded much to the friends' surprise. "So let's go"
Charmander looks back to the five trainers
"Careful. This trainer's already abandoned you once before" Brock told it
"Charmander is mine. I'm the one who caught it. Remember?" Damian said
"Really? I seem to remember you bragging that you abandoned Charmander by making it wait for you on that rock yesterday" Jake said as he narrowed his eyes
"Good thing I did. That toughened it up. Besides, what's wrong with dumpin off a weak Pokémon" Damian said
Charmander was surprised by what Damian said
"I wasn't going to come back for it, but now that I've seen what it can do, I'm real glad I ran into you guys. The best thing is, I didn't have to raise it myself" the arrogant trainer continued much to the five trainers' anger
"That's terrible!" Misty yelled
"Raising a Pokémon is the best part of being a trainer!" Brock added
"You wish! It's the most boring part of the job" Damian retorted
"And you have the nerve to call yourself a trainer?!" Jake yelled in anger
"You see? He doesn't care about you. He just wants to use you to win matches" Misty said to Charmander
"Yeah. He doesn't deserve a Pokémon like you" Green added
Charmander frowned as it finally sees Damian for who he really is: an arrogant trainer who only cares about power.
"Charmander" said Ash and Brock
"Charmander, return!" Damian said as he threw a Poké Ball at it.
But Charmander gave him a glare and used it's tail to hit it back. The Poké Ball hits Damian in the face. The five trainers gasped at what they had witnessed.
"That does it! I'll crush you with every Pokémon I've got!" Damian yelled as took out a lot of Poké Balls and held it over his head
But before he can do so, he was hit by Charmander's flamethrower. Pikachu helped it out by firing a Thunder Shock at Damian. Once the attacks were finished, Bulbasaur charges in and tackles Damian, knocking him to the ground. He groaned from the attacks
"Mommy!" Damian cried as he runs away
"Good work all of you. Especially you, Charmander" Jake said to the Pokémon.
"Char"
"Yeah good work" Ash said
"You really showed how strong you are out there" Green added
Charmander then looks at them
"You know, Ash. I think you should catch Charmander. It would be a good addition to your team" Jake said
"Me? But Brock was the one who saved it. Shouldn't he catch it" Ash asked
"That's true. But don't forget, you were the one who kept it's tail lit. I'm sure you'll raise Charmander to be a great Pokémon" Brock said to Ash
"Yeah. You'll be a better trainer to Charmander than Damian ever was" Green added
"Thanks guys" Ash said with a nod as he takes out a Poké Ball. "Come on, Charmander. Welcome to the group!"
"Char char!" Charmander said in joy
It leaps up as Ash threw the Poké Ball. The Poké Ball sucks Charmander in. It then goes back and Ash catches it.
"You've got a new Pokémon and a friend" Misty said
"Yeah" Ash replied
Jake, Green, and Bulbasaur smiled at their friend's success on capturing another Pokémon. And with that, the five trainers continue on their way to Vermillion City.
