Pokémon Shipwreck
Previously on Pokémon: Adventures in Kanto, our heroes have just received a free ticket to the St. Anne cruise ship. But while they're on board, it turns out to be a trap planned out by Team Rocket to steal everyone's Pokémon. Luckily, Jake and Ash rally all of the trainers to fight back against them. After doing that, a massive storm hit the ship. Though all the passengers were able to evacuate, the gang ended up being trapped onboard as the St. Anne sunk underwater.
We see Elaine walking through Route 24. She had finally earned the Boulder Badge and had recently earned the Cascade Badge.
"It took a lot of training and catching some new Pokémon, but I'm finally gonna earn my next badge" she said "Now I just need to head to Vermillion City."
'I wonder how Ash and Jake are doing on their journey' she thought as she continues walking down the route
Jake was lying on the ground unconscious.
"Jake. Jake wake up!" Green's voice said
"Saur saur!" Bulbasaur said
Jake slowly woke up. He sees that the ground is now the ceiling.
"Jake?"
Jake turn to see Green kneeling down next to him with Bulbasaur next to her
"Guys?" he asked
"Oh thank goodness. We thought you'd never wake up" Green said with relief
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said in relief also
"W-What happened? And why is everything upside down" Jake asked as he sits up
"Well, after we were knocked unconscious, the St. Anne sunk underwater" Green said
"What?!" Jake said as he and Green stood up. He rushed over to a nearby window to see that she was right. "Oh this is bad"
"I know. We got to find a way out of here" Green said
"And we will. But first we have to find our friends. They might be still here" Jake replied
Green and Bulbasaur both nod their heads. They made their way out of the room and back in the hallway. Everything is upside down.
"Where are they again?" Green asked
"I believe they fell in that room over there" Jake said as he points to another room next to it.
They run in to see Brock, Misty, and Pikachu lying unconscious. Jake and Green run over to wake up Brock and Misty while Bulbasaur nudges Pikachu awake. They slowly woke up.
"Jake?" Brock asked
"Green?" Misty asked
"Pika?" Pikachu asked
Jake, Green, and Bulbasaur all nod their heads.
"Yep" Green said
"It's good to see that you guys are okay" Misty said in relief
"Saur" Bulbasaur said
"What about you guys?" Jake asked
"Other than a pounding headache, we're okay" Brock replied
"We're just lucky that we're still alive" Misty added
"Pika pika" Ash's Pikachu said
"That's good" Jake said
Green then notices someone
"Hey, where's Ash?" she asked
Everyone looked around the room. They couldn't see him anywhere
"I don't see him anywhere" Jake replied
"Wait. What about the ceiling?" Misty asked
They look up and sees that Ash was sleeping on a sofa upside down
"You've got to be kidding me" Jake said with a sweat drop
"Saur" Bulbasaur added
"Hey Ash. Answer me!" Brock called
"Wake up Ash! Wake up!" Misty called
"Pika pi!" Pikachu called
"Come on buddy, open your eyes!" Jake called
"Rise and shine, Ash!" Green added
"Saur!" Bulbasaur added
Ash slowly wakes up.
"Wha?" he says
His vision shows to see his friends upside down
"Hey buddy. Are you feeling okay?" Jake asked
"Huh? Oh, brother. What are you talking about am I feeling okay, Jake? You guys are the ones that are upside down" Ash replied
"Um, Ash. You're the one that is upside down" Green pointed out
Realizing that he is indeed upside down, Ash starts to fall
"Look out!" Misty yelled as Pikachu attempts to get out of the way
Ash then falls off the sofa and lands right on Pikachu
"Pikachu" Pikachu said as he felt crushed
"Nice catch, Pikachu" Jake said
"Someone tell me what in the world happened?" Ash asked in a daze
"You might want to look out the window" Green said
Ash gets up
"Huh? Fish swimming" he puzzled as he rushes to the window. He sees some fish swimming. "This can't be. But that must mean that this ship has sunk!"
"You're right about that part, Ash. We're all trapped in here" Jake pointed out
"We gotta get out of here!" Ash yelled.
"Agreed" Brock said
"But how?" Green asked
"Maybe we should start by heading to the stairs" Misty
"Right" everyone said and they left the room.
After walking down the hallway, the group made their way to the stairwell. They see water flooded at the bottom
"What're we suppose to do? The ship's leaking everywhere" Ash said
"We've got to keep calm. As long as there's air in here, it'll take time to fill up with water" Misty said
"She has a point" Jake replied
"Sure, but we better not waste any time escaping" Brock added
"Where should we go from here?" asked Green
The group begins to think
"Well, we can either go up or down" Misty said
"Well if we're sinking, then up would definitely be better." Ash said
"That's true, but let's not forget that the ship is upside down" Jake added
"The deck is below us and the ship's bottom is up above our heads." Misty said
"Then we have to dive down to the depth" Ash said
"Pika pika" Pikachu said while nodding his head
"That's a bad idea, Ash" Jake said
"What do you mean?" Ash asked
"We won't be able to last that long underwater. There's a chance that we might drown." Jake said
"Saur saur" Bulbasaur said as it agrees with it's trainer
"Yeah. If we dive down to the depth and come across a dead end, then we're done for" Brock said
Ash yelps in horror as he imagines himself underwater attempting to open a door and is starting to drown.
"So, how are we suppose to know?" Ash asked
Misty then takes out a Poké Ball.
"Water is my specialty" she said. "Go, Goldeen!"
Misty throws the Poké Ball and let's out Goldeen. Goldeen appears on the water.
"Goldeen, dive down to the depth. If you find a way off the ship, bring something back from outside" Misty instructed
"Goldeen" Goldeen complied as it dives into the water
"Be careful" Green said
Goldeen swims through the flooded part of the ship. As it tries to find a way out, it notices the Team Rocket trio close to drowning. Goldeen widens it's eyes in surprise. Meanwhile back on the surface, the gang was waiting for Goldeen
"What's taking Goldeen so long" Ash asked
"I guess it can't find a way out" Misty said
"Something's coming up" Green said as she sees the water boiling
The gang sees James' head popping out of the surface. Everyone screams in surprise. Then the rest of the Team Rocket trio were pushed up to the surface by Goldeen.
"Team Rocket?" Ash asked
"They look terrible" Brock said
"Yeah. They're almost close to drowning" Jake added
The trio then spits out water
"Prepare prepare for trouble" muttered Jessie
"Yes. Make it double" James added
They both widen their eyes when they see the group
"You!"
The trio then stood up
"We got you brats cornered" Jessie said as she and James take out their Poké Ball
"Look who's talking. I'm surprise you guys didn't get blasted off with the rest of your buddies" Jake retorted as he, Ash, and Brock drew their Poké Balls
"So, you followed us to the bottom of the sea" Brock said
"Ekans!" Jessie said
"Kofing!" James said
They threw their Poké Balls and let out Ekans and Koffing
"Here we go!" Ash, Jake, and Brock said
They threw their Poké Balls and summon their Pokémon. Ash had let out his Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle. Brock let out his Geodude and Jake let out his Vaporeon and Sandshrew
"Bulbasaur!"
"Char char!"
"Squirtle squirt!"
"Geodude!"
"Vaporeon!"
"Sandshrew!"
"Alright a match" Ash said
But before they can battle, they feel the ship shaking. Outside the ship begins to tilt on the left. Everyone screams as they slide to the left
"What's going on?" Green asked
"It's the St. Anne. It's starting to tip over" Jake replied
"This ship will roll if we don't do something quick" Misty said
"Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Geodude, Koffing, Ekans, to the other side of the ship" Ash ordered
"You too Vaporeon and Sandshrew." Jake added
All the Pokémon ran to the right side of the ship, but the ship tilts right and causes everyone to slide to the right also
"Other side! Other side!" Jake yelled
The Pokémon ran to the left. Geodude follows behind
"Geodude, come back to this side!" Brock ordered
Geodude hops back to the other side causing the ship to tilt to the other side. The Pokémon continue to run to one side to another which causes the ship to tilt back and forth. The Pokémon are then on one side while the group is on the other side. Pikachu, Bulbasaur, and Meowth are slowly starting to slide.
"Guys, this isn't working" Green said
"Yeah, we need to balance the ship" Jake added
"They're right. Call back your Pokémon" Misty ordered
"But Team Rocket will beat us if we call our Pokémon back" Ash said
"He's right" Brock added
"Forget about the match. We have more important things to worry about such as our survival" Jake said
"Right" Ash and Brock said they recalled their Pokémon. Jake also recalled Vaporeon and Sandshrew
"Call back your Pokémon too! What's more important, a Pokémon or your life?" Misty told Team Rocket
"She's right. Good point" Jessie said as she and James recalled Ekans and Koffing.
Soon, the ship begins to maintain balance. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief
"Okay then, we all agree that there won't be any battles for now. Let's work together" Misty suggested
"I agree" Jake said
"Me too. But what about them?" Green asked as she points to Ash, Brock, Pikachu, Meowth, Jessie, and James glaring at each other
Jake and Bulbasaur then got between them
"Break it up you all of you! Look I get that you guys don't like each other, but this isn't going to help us one bit. If we want to get out of here, we'll have to join forces" Jake said
"You're kidding, right?" Ash asked
"Jake is right. I don't like it either, but until we're out of this ship, we'll have to call a truce" Green said
"They're right. Now shake hands" Misty ordered
Jessie and Ash both grab their hands
"This is just a temporary truce until we get out of this mess" Jessie told Ash
"Better believe it" Ash replied
Brock and James begins to grab their hands too. Meowth and Pikachu begins to do the same until Pikachu begins to zap Meowth
"Pikachu!" scolded Misty
Bulbasaur uses it's vines to slap Pikachu in the rear causing him to stop zapping Meowth
"Saur saur Bulba" Bulbasaur scolded him
"Bulbasaur's right, Pikachu. Save it for when we get out" Jake said
Pikachu frowned as he rubbed his bottom
"It's agreed. We work together" Jessie said
"Now we got to think of something to escape" Ash added
"Leave it to me. I forgot to mention. I build my own St. Anne once" Misty said
Everyone was surprised at this
"You did?" Jake asked
"It was a model" Misty replied
Everyone groaned
"Oh great" Ash muttered
"That's how I learned all about the structure of the St. Anne. Since the way to the deck is blocked, we'll have to climb to the bottom of the ship. We can a hole in the hull. That's how we'll escape." explained Misty
Everyone understood while Team Rocket is confused
"Well, at least it's a plan" Ash said
"Over there!" Brock yelled as he spots some stairs on the ceiling
"Good eye, Brock! But how do we get up there?" Green asked
"Leave that to me. Onix, make a staircase!" Brock yelled as he lets out Onix
Onix goes over to the stairs and bites on the ledge to form a staircase
"Let's hurry!" Brock yelled as he ran on Onix
"Right" Ash said as he and Pikachu followed
"Wait for us!" Jake said as he, Bulbasaur, and Green ran up Onix. Misty then ran up to Onix
"Let's move it or lose it!" she told the Team Rocket trio
"Yes ma'am!" they said as they follow after.
They were then walking through a very dark corridor.
"The lights are out" Brock said
"I can't see a thing" Green added
"Let me handle it" Ash said. "Charmander, I choose you!"
He let's out his Charmander who's tail is used to light the way. The group then continues to walk through the corridor.
"So where does this hall lead to?" asked Ash
"This corridor leads straight to the engine room, and that's where the hull is the thinnest. With a little luck, we should be able to cut our way through." replied Misty
The group then opens the door to the engine room. They were surprised to see a massive fire at the bottom
"That's not good" Jake said
"Saur" Bulbasaur said in fright
"Yeah, it's impossible to cross the engine room" Ash added
"I don't think our Water Pokémon would be able put out this kind of fire" Green said
Jessie and James both begin to have a moment
"Jessica?" James asked
"Yes, James?" Jessie asked
"Whoever said beauty doesn't last, must've been thinking of us." James said
"I'll always remember what a wonderful dresser you were." Jessie replied
"So will I" James said
Misty then came over to break it up
"Will you two knock it off!? There's gotta be someway to get off this ship! There must be some angle we haven't thought of yet" she said
Jake begins to think. He then looks at the doorway and comes up with something
"Wait. I have an idea" he said
Everyone looks at him
"You do?" Ash asked
"Yeah. Hey Bulbasaur!" Jake called to his starter.
"Saur?" Bulbasaur asked as it walked up to him.
"You think you can extend your vines over to the other side?" he asked
"Saur saur" Bulbasaur said
Bulbasaur then proceed to extend it's vines over and latches onto the door way to make a makeshift tightrope
"Bulbasaur!"
"Nice work" Jake said
"Cool" Green said
"Good thinking, Jake" Misty said
"Yeah. I would've thought of something like that too. But still, good job buddy" Ash added
"Now we can cross to the other side" Brock said
"Let's get out of here" Ash said
Ash, Brock, Misty, and Pikachu went first as they walked on Bulbasaur's vines. Now it was Jake and Green's turn
"Come on, Green. Let's go" Jake said
"I don't know, Jake. What if I fall?" Green replied nervously
"It's okay. Just maintain your balance and don't look down. You'll be fine" Jake answered as he gives her a smile
"O-Okay" Green said as she blushes
They then proceed to walk on Bulbasaur's vines. Meanwhile, James was looking at the flames in terror
"I can't cross that inferno! Jessie and Meowth, you go ahead! I'm staying here!" he yelled hysterically
Jessie then begins to slap his face five times
" Snap out of it! How long do you think you'd last on this side? Now, let's go. We'll cross together." she told him
" Oh, Jessie. Please don't abandon me." James begged
"Don't worry, I won't leave you." Jessie assured
"Hey! What's the hold up!?" Jake called
The trio turn to see Ash and Jake's group on the other side
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said
"Wait! Don't leave us! Send back the vine!" they begged
"You heard them, Bulbasaur. Send your vines back" Jake sighed
Bulbasaur sighed as it did what it's trainer said
After getting Team Rocket to the other side the group has now reached the hull. The Team Rocket trio were panting in exhaustion.
"Now I know what a toasted marshmallow feels like" Meowth said
"Hey! No time to take a break!" Ash said
"Yeah. We're not out of here yet" Jake added
"We've got to get off this ship quick" Misty said
"Right. Charmander, I choose you!" Ash said as let's out his Charmander
"Char!"
"Charmander, we need you to weld through the hull of the ship with your flames." Ash told it
"Char Char" Charmander said as it begins to use it's flames to cut through the hull
"Okay, listen up! Grab hold of a water Pokémon and swim to the surface!" Misty instructed
"Yeah, right! Got it, Ash?" Brock asked Ash
"I'll be okay with my Squirtle" Ash said
"I'll use my Squirtle too" Green added
"And I'll use my Vaporeon" Jake added
"Hey! Don't forget about us! What are we supposed to do?" asked Jessie
"Just grab a Water Pokémon" Misty said
"Water Pokémon!?" Meowth yelled as he stamped his feet
Jake then took out Bulbasaur's Poké Ball.
"Bulbasaur, I'm gonna return you to your Poké Ball. I'll let you out when we're at the surface" Jake said
Bulbasaur nods it's head as it's trainer recalls him to it's Poké Ball.
Ash was looking up as his Charmander continues to burn through the hull
"It's almost burned through" he said
Then Charmander finished burning the ceiling and a rush of water comes pouring in and filling the ship up. Team Rocket begins to panic.
"Are you crazy!? What have you done!?" Meowth shouted
Charmander begins to run away from the water
"Return Charmander!" Ash yelled as he returns Charmander to it's Poké Ball.
Then, the gang begins to use some rope to tie themselves to the Water Pokémon. Ash has tied himself and his Pikachu with his Squirtle, Brock has tied himself with Misty's Starmie, Misty tied herself with Goldeen, Green has tied herself with her Squirtle, and Jake tied himself with his Vaporoen.
"Now, let's go Squirtle!" Ash said
"Squirtle squirt!" his Squirtle said
"Ready to do this Squirtle?" Green asked
"Squirtle" her Squirtle replied
"Here we go, Vaporeon!" Jake said
"Vaporeon!" Vaporeon said
The gang then begins to swim up the stream.
"So long Team Rocket!" Ash called
"See you at the surface!" called Jake
They disappeared in the water leaving Team Rocket behind
"Come back! We haven't got the right Pokémon!" Jessie called
The group begins to swim up toward the water with their Water Pokémon. They then reach the surface while taking a breath of air.
"We made it!" Green cried
"Squirtle" her Squirtle said
"That's a relief. We're finally out of that ship!" Ash said
"Pikachu pika" his Pikachu replied
"Squirtle" Ash's Squirtle said
"You said it buddy" Jake said "Nice work, Vaporeon"
"Vaporeon" Vaporeon said with a smile
"Now the only thing we have to do is to get out of the water" Brock said
Misty then notices something on the right
"Hey, there's a raft over there. " Misty said
The group turn to see a raft a few feet away from them
"Good eye, Misty. Come on guys let's climb aboard" Jake said
The gang made their way on the raft. After returning their Water Pokémon, Jake lets out his Bulbasaur.
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said
"I know Bulbasaur. We're finally out." Jake said which makes Bulbasaur smile
"I wonder why Team Rocket hasn't surfaced." Ash said
" Do you think they're still trapped inside?" Misty asked
"Most likely since they don't have any Water Pokémon" Jake said
"Pikachu" Pikachu said
"Poor Team Rocket" Green said
"There's nothing more we can do except try to find some dry land" Brock said
"Or another ship to come rescue us" Jake added
"Bulbasaur" said Bulbasaur
Ash looks out at the ocean
"Let's see. Nothing but ocean in every direction. And no way to tell which direction to go" he said
"What do we do now?" asked Green
"I remember the story of Noah, who when he had to try dry land, sent a bird to find it and return with a branch" Brock said
"Good idea, Brock. We should do that too" Jake said
"Yeah. Let's do the same thing as Noah" Ash said as he took out a Poké Ball. "Pidgeotto, I choose you!"
"Spearow, come out!" Jake yelled
The boys let out Pidgeotto and Spearow
"Pidgeo!"
"Spearow!"
"Pidgeotto, Spearow! Bring us back whatever you two can find!" Ash ordered
Pidgeotto and Spearow nod their heads and flew off
"We're counting on you guys" Jake said
"Be careful" Green added
Pidgeotto and Spearow begin to fly through the sky to search for land. Then Spearow notices something
"Spearow Spear!" it called to Pidgeotto
Pidgeotto looks at Spearow who points it's wings down.
They both flew down and sees the Team Rocket trio tied to a Magikarp who is flopping in the water. Pidgeotto and Spearow both look at each other with a sweat drop. A few minutes later they took the unconscious trio and Magikarp back to the raft. They looked at the Team Rocket trio and believed that they are dead.
"Oh no" Green said sadly
"They weren't able to make it" Misty added
Not even Team Rocket deserve this" Ash said
"Yeah, they may be bad guys, but they are still people" Jake said
"I guess the only descent thing to do is to give them a traditional burial at sea" Brock said
"That's right. It's our duty, even if they were our enemies" Ash said as he and the gang begins to pray
"Rest in Peace, Team Rocket" Green said
The group then begins to push the unconscious Team Rocket members over the edge of the raft. Suddenly, they woke up while knocking Meowth overboard.
"AAAHHH ZOMBIES!" they screamed
"Who are you calling zombies!?" James yelled
"We are not zombies!" Jessie added
Meowth was flailing in the water
"Somebody help! My fur's getting wet" Meowth cried as he climbs back onboard
"Chu!" Pikachu said as he snaps his fingers
"Saur" Bulbasaur said as it facepalms
"Heh heh. Our mistake" Jake said nervously
That night, the gang and Team Rocket begins to fall asleep on the raft while Magikarp continues to flop around. The next morning, Jake and Bulbasaur were looking out at the water to see if they can spot anything.
"See anything, Bulbasaur?" Jake asked
"Saur saur" Bulbasaur replied as it shook it's head
"Nothing, huh? That's a bummer" Jake sighed
Everyone was starting to feel hungry. Ash's stomach begins to growl
"I'm so hungry" Ash moaned
"Me too" Green added
"It seems like forever since we last ate" Brock said
"If I'd known I was going to be starving, I would've stuffed my face full when I was on the St. Anne!" screamed Misty
"Calm down, Misty. Get a grip on yourself." Jake told her
"Oh, I want some food!" James moaned
"Stop it!" Jessie snapped at him
"Yeah. Dat whinin' only makes you feel even hungrier." Meowth replied
Soon everyone was looking at Magikarp
"Gotta. Eat. Something. Like, fillet carp." Ash said
"Or fried carp" Brock added
"Fresh marinated carp." Jessie said
"Carp flambé" James added
They begin to look at Magikarp with hunger in their eyes
"They're not planning to eat Magikarp, are they?" Green asked
"It looks like it" Jake said
"Saur" Bulbasaur said nervously
Meowth couldn't take it anymore
"That's it! Dinner is now soived!" he yelled as he took a bite out of Magikarp. Unfortunately, he ends up breaking his teeth. Meowth screamed in pain. Jake, Green, and Bulbasaur all winced at this
"I wouldn't try again if I was you. Check your Pokédex, cause Magikarp is just scales and bones" Misty said
"I wish you told me that sooner" Meowth said
Jake took out his Pokédex and scans Magikarp
Jake's Pokédex: Magikarp the Fish Pokémon. Famous for being very unreliable. It can be found swimming in seas, lakes, rivers and shallow puddles.
James is getting very angry at his Magikarp's uselessness.
"Not only can this fish not swim, It's not even good for eating!" he yelled
"See? I told you buying it was stupid!" Jessie said
"You good for nothing fish! I DON"T WANT TO BE YOUR MASTER!" James shouted as he kicked Magikarp off the raft. "Good riddance, Magikarp"
"I feel sorry for it" Misty said sadly
Green then notices something weird happening Magikarp
"Um, guys. Something is happening to Magikarp" she said
"Huh?" Everyone said
They watched as Magikarp begins to glow and change into a large blue serpentine like Pokémon. The creature then roars causing everyone scream.
"What is that?!" James asked in fright
"Now you've done it! Magikarp has evolved into Gyarados!" Misty said
"Gyarados? I missed Magikarp!" Jessie yelled
"You really shouldn't have kicked it!" said Jake
Ash takes out his Pokédex and scans Gyarados
Ash's Pokédex: Gyarados. This Pokémon has a vicious temperament, so use extreme caution. Its fangs can crush stones and its scales are harder than steel.
"That doesn't sound good" Green said with worry
"I'm James, your master. Obey me" James said as he attempts to reclaim Gyarados
But Gyarados, angry at James for kicking him as a Magikarp, roars at him, causing James to whimper
"Dimwit! If you're the master, don't act like your scared of it!" Jessie scolded
"I am scared" James answered
"Goldeen, Starmie, Staryu!" Misty said as she let them out of their Poké Balls
"How will you battle it?" Brock asked
"My strategy is: RUN AWAY!" Misty yelled
"You heard her. We have to get out of here!" Jake said
They tied Goldeen, Starmie, and Staryu to the raft and they begin to swim away. The gang and Team Rocket begins paddling to go faster with the Gyarados chasing them
"Heave ho! Heave ho! Heave ho!" they yelled
They continue to paddle faster as they try to get away from Gyarados, but it was still on their tail. Green looks back to see Gyarados getting closer
"Um, guys. He's getting closer!" she yelled
"Faster! Faster!" they yelled as they paddled even faster
But then, Gyarados stops chasing them and begins roaring. The group took notice
"What's it doing?" Ash asked
"Why did Gyarados stop chasing us?" Green asked
"It just evolved. Maybe it tired out" guessed Brock
"We made it!" Jessie and James said as they hugged each other
"Unless the stories are true" Misty said causing everyone to look at her
"What do you mean, Misty?" Jake asked
"Sailors tell terrible tales about the Gyarados. I think this might be... It may be Dragon Rage" Misty said as the sky begins to darken
"Dragon Rage!" everyone yells
Gyarados roared as four more Gyarados appeared from the water. Everyone screams at this
"Where did those other Gyaradoses come from!?" asked Green
"They must've been summoned by the Gyarados that chased us!" Jake answered
"Help! We're Gyarados bait!" James cried
"We're doomed" Meowth said
"Pikachu" Pikachu said
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said in fright
Then the Gyarados begin to swim around in a circle
"Hey! What are they doing!?" Ash asked
"Dragon Rage! Gyarados' Ultimate Attack" Misty replied
"That's not good" Jake gulped
Then Gyaradoses begins to pick up speed as they continue to swim in a circle. They soon went so fast, that they form a giant water cyclone.
"Definitely not good!" Jake yelled
The cyclone soon gets closer
"Here it comes!" everyone yelled
"Let's go!" Brock yelled
"Go where?" asked Green
