Abra and the Psychic Showdown, Part 2
Previously on Pokémon: Adventures in Kanto, the gang had just arrived in Saffron City to earn the next gym badge. When they arrived in the gym, Ash went first and challenged Sabrina the gym leader. He sent out his Pikachu against Sabrina's Abra who then evolved into Kadabra. Pikachu tried to fight, but was no match against Kadabra's Psychic attacks, forcing Ash to forfeit the match. Sabrina then used her Psychic powers to teleport Ash, Brock, Misty, and Pikachu away leaving only Jake, Green, and Bulbasaur remaining. Now it's Jake's turn to fight the Saffron Gym Leader. Will he be able to beat her or will he meet the same fate as his friends?
Jake was standing on his side of the battlefield with Bulbasaur by his side. Green was behind them spectating. Sabrina was still on her side of the battlefield holding the doll who is holding a Poké Ball.
"The same rules will apply. One on one. An all out match" Sabrina said
"But if you lose, then you will join your friends and play with me" the doll added
"I don't know where you're keeping our friends. But after I beat you, you better give them back, Sabrina!" Jake yelled
'Be careful, Jake. Sabrina's Kadabra is really strong. Especially with his Psychic powers' Green thought with worry
"Kadabra!" Sabrina said as her doll levitates the Poké Ball and lets Kadabra out
"Kadabra" Kadabra said as it got into a fighting stance
'Kadabra. When Ash's Pikachu fought it, Sabrina had it used it's Psychic powers to beat him senseless. It's almost like she knows where the attacks are coming from. Which means I'll need a Pokémon that can fly fast in the air and take it by surprise' thought Jake as he takes out a Poké Ball. "Beedrill, come on out!"
He tossed his Poké Ball in and Beedrill comes out ready to face Kadabra. Sabrina blinked in confusion
"Is this some kind of joke?" she asked emotionlessly
"Oh it's no joke, Sabrina. I'm going with this one" Jake replied
"Are you sure you want to go with Beedrill, Jake?" Green asked
"I'm sure, Green. I read somewhere that Psychic types are weak against Bug types." Jake said as he turns to Beedrill "Hopefully my Beedrill is fast enough to take Kadabra down"
"We shall see." Sabrina said before her eyes glow red "Kadabra Teleport"
Kadabra teleports away. Jake and Beedrill look around to know where it is
"Keep your eyes peeled, Beedrill. You never know when Kadabra will strike" Jake warned
Beedrill looks around until Kadabra appeared behind him. Jake saw this
"Behind you, Beedrill!" Jake yelled
Beedrill looks behind to see Kadabra
"Kadabra, Confusion" Sabrina ordered
"Quick Beedrill, fly up!" Jake yelled
Beedrill quickly flew in the air before Kadabra can use his move
"What?" Sabrina asked
Kadabra looked in confusion as it saw Beedrill in the air
"Now use Poison Sting!" Jake ordered
Beedrill shot Poison Sting at Kadabra who shielded itself
"Kadabra, Psychic attack!" Sabrina commanded with her eyes glowing
Kadabra's eyes glowed as well as it prepares to use it's Psychic powers
"Beedrill, dodge by flying!" Jake ordered
Beedrill begins to fly very fast to get away from the attack. It then begins to fly to one part of the arena to the other while Kadabra tries to keep up on where Beedrill is flying. Green and Bulbasaur were amazed by this
"Wow. Beedrill is really fast" she said
"Saur" Bulbasaur added
"Slow down!" the doll yelled
"Beedrill, Fury Attack!" said Jake with a smirk
Beedrill got behind Kadabra and used Fury Attack on it. Sabrina could only gasp from this
"You got it, Beedrill!" Jake said "Keep it up!"
Beedrill nods it's head as it flew very fast in the sky. Kadabra attempts to get Beedrill with it's Psychic attack again, but Beedrill just zipped to other parts of the gym while in the air and used Fury Attack on Kadabra when it was distracted. Beedrill then followed it up with Poison Sting. Sabrina was starting to get frustrated despite showing no emotions. Jake took notice of this while also seeing Kadabra feeling frustrated too.
'Hmmm. A Pokémon can sense a trainer's feelings. Maybe I can use that' he thought
"Kadabra, Confusion" Sabrina said
Kadabra eyes glowed blue as it uses Confusion. Beedrill end up being caught as it was being forced to ground as it took major damage. Jake, Green and Bulbasaur gasped at this
"Oh man. I almost forgot. Beedrill is part Poison which is weak against Psychic types" Jake said
Beedrill was struggling from the Confusion as it tries to crawl up to it's opponent.
"Come on Beedrill. Fight it" Green muttered
"Saur" Bulbasaur said in worry
"I hope this works" muttered Jake "Beedrill, fire a String Shot in Kadabra's eyes!"
Beedrill looks up at Kadabra and then shot String Shot at it's eyes. Sabrina gasped at this. Beedrill then slowly begins to get up
"He got him" Green said
"Saur" Bulbasaur added
"Yes. Okay Beedrill, fire Poison Sting!" Jake ordered
As Kadabra tries to get the String Shot off of it's eyes, Beedrill flew up and fires Poison Sting at Kadabra. Although it did less damage, it still hurts Kadabra.
"Now Beedrill fire String Shot and fly around Kadabra!" Jake ordered
Confused at what it's trainer was asking, Beedrill went along with what Jake said. It fired String Shot at Kadabra and begins to fly around Kadabra wrapping it up. Sabrina blinked in surprised at this.
"Now pull as hard you can!" Jake yelled
Beedrill pulled very hard which causes Kadabra to skid to the ground. Sabrina gritted her teeth at this
"Kadabra, get out of there" she said
Kadabra struggles to get out it's bind
"Beedrill, another Fury Attack!" Jake ordered
Beedrill flew in and begins to deliver several Fury Attacks on Kadabra. As Beedrill continues to attack, it's pincers then powers up as it hits Kadabra causing major damage to it.
"Is this?" Green asked
"This must be Twineedle" Jake said "Beedrill learned a new move"
"Saur saur" Bulbasaur said impressed
"Kadabra, get up!" Sabrina yelled. Even though she tried to show no emotion, Sabrina was getting frustrated which makes Kadabra frustrated too as it tries to get out of the String Shot
"Beedrill, Poison Sting and then follow it up with your new Twineedle!" Jake commanded
Beedrill shot Poison Sting to disorient Kadabra and then used Twineedle to hurt it.
"No fair!" the doll yelled
"Keep using the Twineedle, Beedrill!" Jake said
Beedrill heard it's trainer's command and continued to use Twineedle on Kadabra causing major damage to it. Beedrill kept using Twineedle until Kadabra couldn't take it anymore and fell on it's front.
"No!" Sabrina yelled as she fell to her knees
"He did it!" Green said with a smile
"Saur!" Bulbasaur added
"Yes yes! Good work, Beedrill!" Jake yelled
Beedrill flew in and tackles Jake with a hug
"Heh heh. You did good. Return" he said as he returns Beedrill to it's Poké Ball
Green and Bulbasaur then runs up to Jake
"Well done, Jake" Green said "But how did you do it?"
"It's quite simple, Green" Jake said "I figured that Sabrina and Kadabra are mentally linked to each other due to them being psychic. I just used that to my advantage
Green smiled and gives Jake a hug which makes him blush. Bulbasaur chuckles at this. Sabrina used her psychic power to return Kadabra to it's Poké Ball. Her doll then levitates a yellow circular badge and hurls it in front of Jake. He kneels down and picks it up
"This must be Marsh Badge" Jake said as he puts it away
Sabrina then floats in front of them.
"Okay, Sabrina. I won" Jake said as he stood up "Now give us back our friends"
But instead of giving back their friends, the Psychic gym leader used her psychic powers on them which makes them float up
"Oh no! Not again!" Green yelled
They were then teleported out of the battlefield
Jake, Green, and Bulbsaur were then teleported outside. They then fell down and hit the ground hard. Bulbasaur landed on his stomach while Jake landed on his back and Green was on top of him.
"Well that was unexpected" Jake said
"I know" Green added
Jake blushes when he realize that she is on top of him
"You can get off me now" he said
Green gasped and blushes
"Sorry" she said as she got off him. Bulbasaur quietly chuckled at this
The trainers then stood back up.
"Hey"
The group turn to see the same man they encountered walking up to him
"You again?" Jake asked
"Didn't I tell you to stay away from this gym?" the man asked
"Actually sir. Check this out" Jake said as he held up his Marsh Badge
"Impossible. You defeated Sabrina?" the man gasped
"Uh uh. I just read somewhere that Psychic types are weak against Bug types" Jake explained "I even noticed that Sabrina and Kadabra had a psychic link to each other and used that to my advantage."
"I see. Most impressive" the man said before noticing that some people are missing "Where are the rest of your friends?"
"They were captured by Sabrina" Green said
"Yeah. You see, my friend Ash forfeited his match with Sabrina. She then teleported them somewhere to play with her" Jake explained
"Saur" Bulbasaur replied
"That is really bad" the man said
"Can you please help them?" Green asked
"I'll do what I can" the man replied before teleporting away
Jake, Green, and Bulbsaur waited and after a few seconds later, Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu were teleported outside and land on the ground
"This is a real place" Brock said "We made it"
"Guys!" Jake said as he, Green, and Bulbasaur walk up to them
"Jake!" Ash yelled
"Green!" Misty said
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said as he looked at Bulbasaur
"Boy are we glad to see you" Brock said
"Likewise" Green said
"What happened to you guys?" Jake asked
"You're not gonna believe this, but Sabrina shrunk us to the size of dolls and teleported us inside her toy set" Misty said
"Really?" Green asked
"It's true" Brock said "We were there. Everything inside one of the houses was fake"
"Then her doll tried to make us into her bowling pins" Ash said "Luckily, the man we met outside the gym saved us"
"I see. It's good to see that you guys are okay" Jake said while Green nods her head
Ash, Misty, Pikachu, and Brock stood back up
"By the way, Jake. Did you defeat Sabrina?" asked Ash
"Sure did, buddy. Take a look" Jake said as he held up the Marsh Badge
"Wow" Ash said
"But how did you beat her?" Brock asked
"I just used Beedrill to fight Kadabra. According to one of the books I have read, Psychic types are weak against Bug types" Jake explained "Plus I used Sabrina and Kadabra's psychic link to my advantage"
"That was very clever" Misty said "Good job, Jake"
Then someone cleared his throat. The gang look to see the man in front of them
"Thanks for the help." Ash said
"Yeah. If you hadn't, then they would be Sabrina's playthings forever" Jake added
"We're glad that we ran into you when we got teleported out" Green said
"Sabrina is a dangerous Pokémon trainer. I got the chance to help you this time by the request of your friends, but next time you won't be so lucky. You'll all be trapped in her toy box for eternity." the man warned
The gang was shocked by what he said
"You mean this has happened to other trainers who have lost to Sabrina?" Green asked
"I'm afraid so" the man said before looking to Ash "Give up your crazy idea of challenging Sabrina. Leave Saffron City and never come back here!"
"I can't do that! I have to win Sabrina's Marsh badge so I'll be able to get into the Pokémon League!" Ash argued
"Your friend may have been able to defeat her, but you will never be able to defeat Sabrina and her Psychic Pokémon." the man stated
"Yes, I will! We just need to make a quicker attack before she can kick in with her psychic powers!" Ash said
In response to this, the man's eyes glowed red causing Ash to glow as well. Then his pants fell down revealing his boxers.
"Oh my gosh!" Green yelled as she and Misty covered their eyes in embarrassment while Jake and Bulbasaur looked shocked
"Ash, what do you think your doing?" Brock asked as Ash begins to dance around
"It's not me! My body's moving by itself!" Ash replied
"That man is using his psychic powers to control him" Jake explained
"Ha! If you can't beat me, you haven't a chance against Sabrina." the man taunted as his eyes stopped glowing which release Ash from his control
"What do you mean?!" Ash asked as he pulled his pants back up and ran up to the man"Can you use telekinesis, too? Please! Teach me how to use psychic powers!"
But the man held up a finger and pushed Ash back with his psychic powers
"Whoa!" the gang said
"Such power" Jake said
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur added
"You usually have to be born with telekinetic powers. You can't just learn them." the man said as he begins to walk away
"Please, wait!" Ash yelled as he got back up
"Just forget about it, Ash!" Brock said
"You haven't got a chance against telekinesis!" Misty added
"You could get hurt" Green added
"Chu" Pikachu said
Jake didn't say anything as he knows how stubborn Ash can be. Ash then stubbornly walks up to the man
"I may not have telekinesis, but I've still got the guts to take on Sabrina again!" Ash said
The man used his psychic powers to throw Ash back. Jake and Green winced at this
"Wise up, kid. Not even I have the powers to defeat Sabrina. Guts don't count in this contest. I'm telling you this for your own good." the stranger said
Ash begins to get up
"Don't, Ash!" Misty said
"Better call it quits, Ash!" Brock added
As Ash slowly hobbles over to the man, he used his psychic power to stop him which forces him on his knees
"Ash!" Jake and Green yelled
"Saur" Bulbasaur said in horror
But Ash still pushed through much to the man's shock. Even his friends were surprised by this as well
"Ash, give it up!" Brock yelled
"Please! I need, your help. I've gotta defeat Sabrina for the Marsh badge! I have to! You gotta help me beat her. Please, show me how!" Ash begged as he crawled up to the man before collapsing
Jake smiled at his friend's fortitude
"Well, that's one determined kid." the man said
"He's right about that, sir" Jake said as he stepped up "My friend is not the type of person to give up. And so am I. We've come too far on our journey and we will not quit just because we're told to do so. So please, give him a chance to defeat Sabrina"
The man was surprised by what Jake said. Green and Bulbasaur both smiled at what Jake said
'They're pretty stubborn. I'll give them that' he thought
"There may be just one way you can beat her." the man said to Ash
"Huh?" Ash asked
"Only one other type of Pokémon can battle the psychic type aside from bug type. If you capture a Ghost Pokémon from Lavender Town, you might have a chance." the man advised
"A Ghost Pokémon, from Lavender Town. Thank you." Ash said before collapsing
The man smiled and then teleported away. His friends then run up to him. Jake and Green both helped him up
"Are you okay, buddy?" Jake asked
"I think so" Ash replied
"Are you sure? Cause those psychic powers really did a number on you" Green said
"Very funny. I should be okay for now" Ash replied
"You haven't got a chance against a Psychic Pokémon." Misty said to Ash
"True. But that won't stop Ash from finding a way" Jake said
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said
"He's right about that! Let's go! On to Lavender Town!" Ash said
And with that, the gang began to leave Saffron City unaware that the man was watching them from a tree from behind
"With some luck, that kid may be the one who can rescue Sabrina." he said
The sun was setting as the gang were walking down the road to Lavender Town
