Primeape Goes Bananas
After leaving Saffron City, Ash, Jake, and the gang are now on their way to Celadon City. They are currently making a stop at Route 7 for a lunch break. While Brock is setting up the food, Ash begins to find a phone to call Professor Oak while Jake decides to find a another Pokémon to catch with Bulbasaur and Cubone accompanying him. As they walk through Route 7, a red fox like Pokémon with 6 tails comes out from a bush.
"Vulpix Vul"
"Hey, a Vulpix" Jake said before taking out his Pokédex
Jake's Pokédex: Vulpix the Fox Pokémon. Both its fur and its tails are beautiful. As it grows, the tails split and form more tails.
"I never caught a Fire type Pokémon before" Jake said "This could be my chance"
He then takes out a Poké Ball
"Tentacool, you're up!"
He throws the Poké Ball and out came Tentacool
"Tentacool" Tentacool said
Jake then held up his Pokédex to scan Tentacool
Jake's Pokédex: Tentacool's known moves are: Acid, Supersonic, Poison Sting, and Water Gun
Jake nod his head before putting his Pokédex away. He then turns to Cubone who was with Bulbasaur watching
"Watch closely Cubone. You might learn something from this" Jake said
"Cubone" Cubone replied while nodding his head
Vulpix fired Ember at Tentacool
"Tentacool, dodge!" Jake ordered
Tentacool leaped away to avoid Vulpix's Ember
"Now use Acid!" Jake yelled
Tentacool fired Acid at Vulpix who leaped out of the way
"Poison Sting!" Jake ordered
Tentacool fired Poison Sting which hits Vulpix. Vulpix shook it off and then used Quick Attack on Tentacool which sends it skidding on the ground. Bulbasaur and Cubone gasped at this
"Are you okay, Tentacool?" Jake asked
"Tentacool" Tentacool responded as it got up
Vulpix then proceed fire another Ember at Tentacool.
"Quick Tentacool. Dodge and use Supersonic!" Jake commanded
Tentacool dodge to avoid Vulpix's attack. It then fired Supersonic from it's ruby. The Superonic reached Vulpix which makes it confused
"Vulpix" Vulpix said as it staggered around
Bulbasaur and Cubone cheered for Tentacool's comeback
"You got it, Tentacool" Jake said "Now follow it up with Water Gun"
Tentacool did what Jake commanded and fired Water Gun at Vulpix causing it major damage.
"Okay Tentacool, that's enough" Jake said
Tentacool stopped it's attack just as Jake walked up. He then took out a Poké Ball.
"Poké Ball, go!"
Jake tossed the Poké Ball at Vulpix. It hit Vulpix and sucked it inside. The Poké Ball shooked about three times until it locked
"Yes!" Jake yelled as he picked up the Poké Ball "Vulpix is mine!"
Bulbasaur, Cubone, and Tentacool cheered for their trainer's victory. Then the Poké Ball disappeared
"Cubone!" Cubone yelled as he saw that
"Relax, Cubone" Jake said "Vulpix's Poké Ball got transfered to Professor Oak's lab. Which means I'll need to switch one of my Pokémon for Vulpix"
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said agreeing with it's trainer
Cubone nod his head. Jake then kneels down at Tentacool
"Good work, Tentacool" Jake said as he rubbed Tentacool's head much to it's enjoyment "Take a good rest"
He returns Tentacool to it's Poké Ball and then signals his Pokémon to follow him. As they were on their way back to the gang, they met up with Ash who was feeling down.
"Hey Ash" Jake greeted
"Hi, Jake" Ash greeted back
Jake noticed Ash looking a little depressed
"What's wrong, buddy?" he asked
"Well. I went to call Professor Oak and he told me this" Ash said as he begins to tell him what happened
A flashback begins as it shows Ash on the phone with Professor Oak
"Professor, good morning!" Ash said
"Good morning, Ash!" greeted Professor Oak "I was wondering when you'd might be calling. Say, where's Jake?"
"He's somewhere around here catching a new Pokémon" Ash answered
"I see" Professor Oak said "You have some good news?"
"I sure do!" Ash said as he showed him his gym badges "Look at this! Pretty impressive, huh? I've already earned four badges! Even Jake has four badges too"
"Only four badges?" Professor Oak asked after he drank some tea
This caused Ash to fall over upon hearing this
"Ash? Are you still there?" Professor Oak asked " I just found out this morning that yours and Jake's other rivals have earned five badges each, including Gary. They both passed through Celadon City, too. Although Elaine is slowly catching up"
Ash got up looking very furious
"Oh, that Gary!" he growled
"You and Jake better hurry up, Ash. You both don't want to fall further behind the others. And Gary has already captured thirty new Pokémon." Professor Oak informed
"Thirty Pokémon?" Ash said in surprised
"What about you?" Professor Oak asked "I know Jake is out there catching a new Pokémon, but I haven't gotten any Pokémon from you in a while. Not since the day you sent me Krabby, here.
As he said this, Krabby came into view
"Krabby! How ya doing?" Ash asked as he greeted his Pokémon
"We've become very good friends. We especially enjoy teatime, and writing poetry. And some of it's not that bad, either." Professor Oak explained "Every day it's cake and tea, just my Pokémon and me. Like it?"
"I don't know very much about poetry" Ash answered with a sweat drop
"Now, listen, Ash, writing poetry is a lot like Pokémon training. I can't write a good poem without rhymes. And you can't be a good trainer without catching more Pokémon. The same also applies to Jake. Have to go now. The tea's getting cold." Professor Oak said as he hung up
Ash sighed after the professor did that.
The flashback ends to show Ash, Jake, Bulbasaur, and Cubone walking down Route 7.
"And that's what happened" Ash said
"I see" Jake said "Who would've thought our rivals have already earned five badges"
"I know. Especially, Gary" Ash said as he clenched his fists
"Easy Ash. We got plenty of time before the Pokémon League starts" Jake said "I'm sure we'll catch up eventually"
"Really?" Ash asked
"Of course" Jake said "There are times when we have to hurry and there are also times when we should just slow down and take in the scenery on our travels"
Ash, Bulbasaur, and Cubone nod their heads at what he said
"I get it, buddy" Ash said "So what Pokémon did you caught?"
"A Vulpix" Jake answered
"Awesome!" Ash said "But where is it?"
"In Professor Oak's lab" Jake replied "After all, we can only have six Pokémon in our party"
"I know that" Ash said
"Come on, let's get back to the others" Jake said as they continue through Route 7
The boys and the Pokémon made their way back to the gang who were enjoying a rice ball. They notice them coming over
"Hi Ash! Hi Jake!" Green greeted while waving her hand
"Hi!" Jake greeted back
Misty noticed Ash looking a little down
"You look kinda down, Ash." she said
"Huh?" Ash asked
"Have a donut, that always cheers me up." she said
"Pika Pika" Pikachu added
"These donuts are great! Jelly-filled are my favorite! Nothing beats a jelly-filled donut!" Brock said
"I agree. They're delicious!" Green said as she was eating one
"In that case, let me at one" Jake said as he takes one and tastes it "Mmmm. Now that's sweet. Can my Pokémon have some?"
"Sure thing, Jake" Brock said "I made plenty"
Jake smiled before taking two donuts and giving them to Bulbasaur and Cubone. They both tasted it
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said at the taste
"Cubone!" Cubone added as the taste was really good
Ash then walks over
"I just heard Gary has five badges." he said
"I get it. He's upset because he's falling behind." Misty said "The same also applies to Jake"
"Thanks a lot" Jake said annoyed
"Don't worry, Ash. I'm sure you and Jake will get there" Green assured
"Thanks, Green" Ash said feeling a little better "The next town we come to is Celadon City. Isn't there supposed to be a gym there?"
"There sure is. All we gotta do is follow this road. Celadon City is only a day's walk from here. Even less if we keep up a fast pace." Brock explained as he points to the right
"Thanks for the info, Brock" Jake said
"No problem, Jake" Brock replied
Ash looks on ahead before getting a determined look and twist his cap backwards
"There's no way those other guys are gonna win!" he declared
"That's the spirit, buddy" Jake said
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said
"Cubone" Cubone added
"Just remember, Ash, unlike all the other wannabe trainers out there, you and Jake gotta make it to the Pokémon League your own ways." Misty told him
"Right. Remember, it's quality over quantity, especially if you have lots of different Pokémon. Then they'll help you catch others." Brock added
"Yeah, that's it. Catch, lots of, Pokémon!" Ash said
"I don't think that's what they meant" Green said with a sweat drop
"I know" Jake agreed
"He'll never learn." Misty sighed
"I didn't ask you" Ash retorted
As Pikachu was eating his donut, he notice something rustling a bush. Out came a pig monkey like Pokémon. Ash also looked over
"It's a Pokémon!" he gasped before taking out his Pokédex
Ash's Pokédex: Mankey, a Pig Monkey Pokémon of the Fighting type. Known for its superior footwork, it packs a powerful punch.
Mankey then leaped over to them. It then begins to leap around Brock
"What does it want?" Green asked
"Maybe it wants a donut." Brock answered as he hands Mankey a donut. It sniffs the donut
Pikachu and Bulbasaur came out
"Pika" Pikachu said
"Bulba" Bulbasaur added
Mankey then takes the donut and leaps on a rock to eat it
"I think it likes it!" Ash said
"That donut is my own special recipe. No artificial ingredients." Brock said
"I can tell after I tasted it" Jake replied
"Cubone" Cubone added as he ate his donut
"A fighting Pokémon. That'll really help me in battle." Ash said
"You might want to be careful, Ash" Jake warned
"What do you mean, Jake?" asked Ash
"I've read about Mankey and they're known for their aggressiveness. You might want to handle this with caution" Jake replied
"This one doesn't seem aggressive" Ash said before taking out a Poké Ball
"Hold on! You're not gonna start by throwing a Poké Ball at it." Misty said
"I think he is" Green replied
"There's no way I'm gonna miss this chance. Mankey, you're mine, now!" Ash declared
'Something tells this isn't going to end well' thought Jake with worry
Ash throws the Poké Ball at Mankey, but Mankey throws the donut making the Poké Ball capture it instead. The Poké Ball then goes back to Ash. Ash opens the Poké Ball to reveal the donut
"Huh? It's a donut!" he yelled
"A donut Pokémon?" Misty asked
"I don't think there's such a thing" Jake said
Green turns and widens her eyes
"Um guys. Something's up with Mankey" she said
The gang turn in her direction to see Mankey leaping off the rock. It was glaring intensely at them
"Looks to me like you got it pretty angry." Misty said
"I told you Mankeys are known for their aggressiveness" Jake said with a gulp
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said nervously
"Bone" Cubone added shivering
"Now what are we supposed to do?" Ash asked as he took out his Pokédex
Ash's Pokédex: Although Mankey is usually calm, it does have a bad temper. Once Mankey begins to Thrash, stopping it is impossible.
"I don't like the sound of that" Green gulped
"You're right about Mankey being aggressive, Jake" Ash said "But what does it mean by Thrash?"
"I think we're about to find out" Jake said as he looked forward
The gang sees Mankey charging right at them. They screamed and ran for their lives with Mankey chasing them
"Why is it chasing us?" Green asked
"I don't know. But we better keep running!" Jake replied
"Cubone!" Cubone yelled as it run but it then trips
Bulbasaur saw this and used it's vines to grab Cubone and place it in front of it as they continue to run
"You should've let it finish that donut, Ash. Didn't your mother ever teach you manners?!" Misty asked as she scolds Ash
"She never mentioned Mankeys!" Ash replied
"I shouldn't have made them taste so good!" Brock said
"That's it! Brock, try to throw a donut at Mankey. Maybe that'll distract it" Jake said
"Well, it's sure worth a try!" Brock said before taking out a donut " Poké Ball!"
This caused everone to fall over in disbelief
"Oh, sorry. Donut, go!" the former Pewter gym leader yelled as he hurl the donut at Mankey
Unfortunately, Mankey just punched the donut into pieces much to everyone's shock
"That didn't work!" Ash said
"I don't think Mankey's in the mood to eat anymore" Green added
"I wasted a donut!" Brock yelled
"Let's beat it!" Jake said
Just as they are about to run again, Misty tripped
"Misty!" Ash and Green yelled
Misty turned to see Mankey charging up. She screams and covers her eyes, preparing for Mankey to attack. But instead of attacking, Mankey jumped off her and jumps right onto Ash causing him to fall.
"Looks like Mankey is only targeting Ash" Green said
"It sure looks like it" Jake said as he, Bulbasaur ,and Cubone walk up
They watched Ash getting thrashed by Mankey. Brock and Misty came up as well
"Are you okay, Ash?" Brock asked
"Of course I'm not okay!" yelled Ash as he continues getting beaten up
After a few seconds, the dust settles and Ash was on the ground battered. His hat was also gone
"I surrender" Ash said in a dazed
"Ouch. That's gotta hurt" Green winced
"Yeah. It looks like we know how the Thrash attack works" Jake added
Mankey, having stolen Ash's cap, climbed up a tree. It then put on Ash's hat
Ash recovered from the beating that Mankey has given him.
"Are you feeling okay, Ash?" Jake asked
"Not really" Ash answered
"That Mankey sure beat you up big time!" Brock said
"You're lucky to be alive" Green added
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said
"Bone" Cubone added
"Are you okay?" Misty asked
Ash put his hand on his head and felt something missing on it
"Where'd my hat go?" he asked
Misty points forward. The gang turn to see Mankey on top of the tree wearing his hat. This made Ash mad as he runs over
"You little thief! Give me back my hat!" he demanded
But Mankey only mocked him by turning his cap and mimic him throwing a Poké Ball much to Ash's fury
"You can get another hat, Ash." Misty said
"It's not the hat, it's the principal!" Ash replied as he storms over
"Hold it! You're just going to get beat up again!" Misty warned
"She's right" Green added "It's not worth it if it means getting pulverized by Mankey again"
"It's mine!" Ash yelled back
"I don't get it. What's so great about this hat?" Green asked "Can it be replaced?"
"To answer your question, Green. No" Jake said "You see, the hat that Ash wears is very rare"
"Jake is right" Ash said "I can't replace that hat! I won it at the official Pokémon League Expo! Don't you know how tough it is to get one of those hats?"
"No way!" Green said surprised
"An official expo hat?" Brock asked
"You heard right" Jake said "Before me and Ash went on our journey, I saw an ad for this on T.V."
A flashback shows Jake watching a T.V. of an ad of the hat Ash has worn
"Hey, all you Pokémon League fans! Now, you have a chance to win one of a hundred limited edition Pokémon League official hats! It's wearable! It's washable! And it's official! Don't miss your chance to win the official hat of the official expo of the official Pokémon League!" an announcer said
"Cool" Jake said in amazement
The flashback ends as it returns to the present. Everyone was amazed by this
"It's official" Brock said
"I didn't know it was an official Pokémon League hat." Misty said
"Me neither" Green added
"I remember I entered the same contest, too." Misty said
"So did I " Jake added
"I had to send in about a million postcards to win that hat!" Ash yelled
"No wonder I didn't win. I only sent in one." Misty said embarrassed
"I didn't win either. I remembered sending in four" Jake said
"Poor Ash. Losing an official hat is like losing your best friend." Brock said
"I'm standing right here you know!" Jake said offended
"Sorry, Jake" Brock replied with his hands up in defense
Ash begins to climb up the tree to reach Mankey
"Almost got it" he said as he reaches over
Unfortunately, Mankey attacked Ash causing him to fall on his hand. His friends winced at this. Jake walked over to help him up. Suddenly, Team Rocket showed up
"Well, hello there, chumps." Jessie greeted
"Team Rocket" Misty said
"Not them again" Green added
"What are you doing here?" Brock demanded
"Aren't you happy ta see us?" Meowth asked
"Does it look like we're happy to see you?!" Jake asked in annoyance
Bulbasaur growled at them while Cubone glared at the trio. Just then, Mankey came over and begins to look at them much to James' annoyance
"Buzz off!" he yelled as he kicked Mankey
Jake, Brock, Misty, and Green gasped in shock at what James did
"I wish he hadn't done that!" Brock yelled
Mankey landed in a nearby bush.
"Still trying to catch Pikachu and Bulbasaur?" Misty asked
"We just want to borrow them, permanently." Jessie stated
Your situation is hopeless. Hand Pikachu and Bulbasaur over or else!" James added
"And while you're at it, give us that bone Pokémon too" Meowth said as he points at Cubone
Cubone gasped at this, but Bulbasaur stood in front of him protectively.
"And what makes you think we'll do that!?" Green asked as she glared at them
Team Rocket begin to recite their motto
" To protect the world from devastation."
" To unite all peoples within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above."
"Jessie"
"James"
"Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light."
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight."
"Meowth! That's right!"
"Look you three, this is a very bad time" Jake said
"Yeah, I'm having a major hat crisis. Could you try to steal our Pokémon some other time?" Ash asked
"Now's the perfect time. You're obviously too pooped to protect your Pikachu." Jessie said "Although we'll have to deal with your friend if we want to snatch all of your Pokémon"
"If you guys don't get out of here fast, you're gonna get as whipped as Ash did." Brock warned
"By who?" Meowth asked
"By Mankey" Brock answered
"What's a Mankey?" Jessie asked
"I guess that thing I kicked out of the way." James replied
Green then noticed Mankey nearby
"Um guys?" she said as she points at it
Everybody turned and gasped to see Mankey glowing and beginning to grow
"Oh, you three done it now!" Jake said as he remembered back when James kicked Magikarp back on the raft, resulting in it's evolution to Gyarados
Then, the glow stopped to reveal that Mankey had evolved into a form that resembled it's previous form but with it's arms and feet being different. James and Jessie stammered as they saw this
"It evolved!" they cried
Everybody was shocked after seeing Mankey evolved. It resembled it's previous form, but it has silver braces on it's arms and feet.
"What is that?" Misty asked
Ash checked his Pokédex
Ash's Pokédex: Primeape. If you make eye contact with this evolved form of Mankey, it will chase you forever.
Jake and Green gulped when they heard that. But Jessie scoffs at Primeape
"This furball? That's ridiculous. Now let's capture Pikachu and Bulbasaur. Go, Ekans!" she yelled
"And go, Koffing!" James added
Their Pokémon came out to battle Pikachu and Bulbasaur who were getting ready to battle them
"Come on!" Jessie yelled
Suddenly, Primeape appeared behind her and gives Jessie a kick, sending her flying past Ekans and Koffing and straight at the gang
"Incoming!" Jake yelled
They ducked down just as Jessie flew past them and crashed right into a boulder
"That's gonna leave a mark" Jake said as he saw this
"You can say that again" Ash added
James and Meowth yelled in panic as they saw this. Jessie then slid down. After getting her head out, Jessie was very angry at Primeape for what it did to her
"How dare you damage my perfection! Now you'll pay! Ekans! Koffing! Never mind Pikachu and Bulbasaur! Get that Primeape!" she ordered
Ekans and Koffing obeyed her command went after Primeape
"But we came for Pikachu and Bulbasaur!" Meowth said
"Team Rocket always puts beauty before duty!" James said as he grabs Meowth "Come on!"
Team Rocket joined Koffing and Ekans in fighting Primeape. The gang saw this
"They're distracted" Jake said "Let's get out of here!"
"Good call" Green added "Come on guys. Now's our chance!"
"Right!" Brock and Misty said as they grab Ash by the arm
The gang then race around them as they try to escape. As Ash was being carried away, he noticed his hat on the ground.
"My hat!" he cried
Pikachu saw this and raced over to retrieve it. But Primeape, having already defeated Team Rocket, leaped in front of him
"Don't look at it in the eye, Pikachu!" Misty called
Pikachu tried his best to not look at Primeape, but he ended doing so. Pikachu became intimidated and backed up. Primeape then sweeped the hat up with it's feet and puts it on his head with a chuckle.
"It's got my hat!" Ash yelled
"And it never sent in one postcard." Misty said
"This is no time for jokes, Misty. We're gonna have to beat Primeape if we're gonna retrieve that hat" Jake said seriously
"What he said. Pikachu, Thunder Shock!" Ash commanded
Pikachu fired Thunder Shock at Primeape
"Nice work!" Ash said
Unfortunately, it only increased Primeape's anger as it begins to stamp it's feet
"I think we just made it even more angry" Green said worried
"Now what'll we do?" Misty asked
"Green has a point. That attack made it even madder!" Ash moaned
"Wait a minute! I have a theory! Primeape's not trying to steal your hat!" Brock said
The gang looked at him
"What are you getting at?" Jake asked
"It's scared of us. When it was a Mankey, you tried to capture it, then James kicked it. I think it took your hat so it could get a little attention, because it's lonely all by itself." Brock explained
"Are you sure about this?" Green asked
"Of course, I'm sure" Brock said as he walked over to Primeape
"Be carful" Misty said
Brock approached Primeape who was still stamping it's feet
"Now everything's gonna be fine. Give me a smile, buddy." he said as he put Primeape's arm around him
But that proves to be a mistake, as Primeape begins to pummel him on his back. Jake, Green, Bulbasaur, and Cubone winced at the beating Primeape was giving Brock
"Hey! Quit it! That hurts! Knock it off! Let me go! Stop! Stop!" Brock screamed in pain
Primeape then stops and appeared in front of Brock. He looked and Primeape, who delivered an uppercut which sends the former Pewter Gym leader flying
"Oh man! He's definitely gonna feel that in the morning" Jake said
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur added
"Cubone!" Cubone added
" I think Brock needs a new theory." Misty said
"I agree" Green added
"Guess so" Ash replied
They winced when Brock hit the ground. The gang then turn to see Primeape. Ash scans Primeape with his Pokédex
Ash's Pokédex: Once Primeape begins its strongest attack, Thrash, it goes completely out of control.
"Did it just say 'it goes completely out of control'?" Green asked with fear
"Oh yeah" Jake said with a gulp
"I think we're in big trouble" Misty said terrified
"Cubone" Cubone said in horror
They then saw Primeape charging right at them
"Run!" Ash screamed
The gang ran for their lives with Primeape after them. They trampled Team Rocket along the way. Primeape continues to chase the group as they ran through a canyon on Route 7. Green looks back to see Primeape still after them
"It's still gaining on us!" she yelled
"If we split up, maybe we can lose it!" Ash said
"Good thinking, Ash. You girls take the left, we'll keep going forward" Jake said
"Okay" Misty said
Green and Misty ran to the right while, Ash, Jake, Bulbasaur, Pikachu, and Cubone continue forward, but Primeape was still after the boys. The girls watch this
"Oh no! It doesn't look like Primeape's easy to lose!" Misty said
"I know. We're gonna need to help them out" Green said
Brock then came up
"I just hope Ash and Jake didn't look Primeape in the eye." he said as he caught his breath
"Now what?" Misty asked
"Let's find Ash and Jake" Brock said as he runs ahead
"Right!" Green said as she and Misty follow after him
Meanwhile, Ash, Jake and their Pokémon continue to be chase by Primeape. They go over a rock, but Primeape ran through it. Then they ran between several rocks, but Primeape bashed through all of them
"It's still after us!" Jake yelled as he looks back
"Cubone!" Cubone yelled as he tries to run faster
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur added as he struggles to keep up
The boys continue to run so fast that they ended up running into a hole and ended up on top of Team Rocket. The weight was so great for Koffing that it shot out gas. Ash, Jake, and their Pokémon coughed from as the gas disappears
"What's a hole doing in the road?" Ash asked
"Obviously someone had dug it" Jake answered
"Koffing! You nincompoop!" Jessie scolded
The boys and Team Rocket then noticed each other
"Team Rocket!" gasped Jake
"How did you get down here?!" Ash asked
"Pika!" Pikachu yelled
Bulbasaur growled at them while Cubone glared at the trio
"Pikachu" James said
"Why don't you come for a ride on my head?" Jessie asked "And you come along too, Bulbasaur"
"And don't forget that Cubone" James said
Jake growled at them
"WHAT?!" Ash screamed "Pikachu, Thunder Shock!"
Jake gasped
"No, Ash. Wait!" he yelled
But it was too late, Pikachu unleashed Thunder Shock. He zapped Team Rocket and their Pokémon, but he ended up zapping Ash, Jake, and Bulbasaur. Cubone was the only one that was unaffected by the attack.
"Not me!" Ash yelled
"Or me!" Jake yelled
"Saur!" Bulbasaur screamed
Pikachu stopped his attack. Just then, Ash looked up and saw Primeape jumping into the hole. He quickly climbed up. Jake then proceeds to climb out the other part of the hole. He reached out his hand and Bulbasaur used it's vines to grab it allowing Jake to pull his starter out. Bulbasaur then used it's vines to get Cubone out. They turn to see Ash facing Primeape just as he had climbed out.
"Ash" Jake said
Ash then thought back to what Professor Oak had told him
"I can't write a good poem without rhymes. And you can't be a good trainer without catching more Pokémon."
Just then, Brock, Misty, and Green caught up to them
"Ash!" Misty said
"Jake!" Green said as she went over to him
"Guys!" Jake said as he saw them
"Professor Oak's right! No more games! I'm gonna capture you, Primeape!" Ash said with determination as he holds out a Poké Ball
"Why do you have to be so stubborn? Primeape is too dangerous to capture, Ash!" Misty yelled
"Just forget the hat!" Brock added
"It's not that! It's because I want to be a Pokémon master! A real master wouldn't let any Pokémon get away!" Ash said strongly
"Pika" Pikachu said
"You tell em, buddy!" Jake said with a smile
"Bulba!" Bulbasaur said
"Cubone!" Cubone added
"He's always trying to stand tough." Misty sighed
"But he does raise a good point" Green said before cheering Ash "Go get it, Ash!"
"Squirtle, I choose you! Soak it's head with your Water Gun!" Ash yelled as he lets out Squirtle
Squirtle fired Water Gun at Primeape, but that only made it furious as it's anger evaporated the water. Misty was frightened and hid behind Brock. Cubone was also frightened as he hid behind Bulbasaur
"Squirtle, return! Ash said as he recalled Squirtle
"Bulbasaur, I choose you!" Ash said as he lets out his Bulbasaur
"Bulbasaur" it said
"Bulbasaur, Razor Leaf, now!" Ash commanded
Bulbasaur fired Razor Leaf at Primeape, but it easily deflected it. The gang panicked at the sight of this while Jake's Bulbasaur watched the attack. It wanted to use that attack also.
"That didn't work" Green said
"Ash is gonna need to change tactics on this" Jake said
"Bulbasaur, return!" Ash said as he recalled his Bulbasaur Charmander, go!"
He throws another Poké Ball and Charmander came out. Charmander then begins to fire Flamethrower at Primeape, but the Pig Monkey Pokémon dodges the attacks and then lands a hit on Charmander. Primeape then proceeds to beat up Charmander.
"Charmander!" Ash yelled
Primeape proceeds to pummel Charmander
"Poor Charmander" Green said with worry
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said
Cubone looked from behind Bulbasaur. He was shocked to see how brutal Primeape was to Charmander.
'Come on Charmander. Stay strong' Jake thought as he watched the battle
"Charmander" Ash said with worry
Suddenly, the fire on Charmander's tail grew big. Ash saw this
"The flame on its tail! What's happening?" he asked as he takes out his
Ash's Pokédex: Charmander's special attack, Rage. It gains more power the more it is attacked. It will continue to fight until its opponent falls.
"That should definitely give Charmander the power boost it needs to take down Primeape" Jake said
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur cheered
"Alright! I didn't know it had that kind of power! Charmander, go!" Ash ordered
Charmander charged at Primeape with the latter doing the same. Primeape then delivers several punches at Charmander, but that only increased Charmander's power. Charmander then sank it's teeth on Primeape's fist, but the Pig Monkey Pokémon swung it off. Charmander then fires Flamethrower at Primeape, who dodged it. Just as they were facing off, Pikachu noticed Ash's hat on Primeape's head and Charmander was about to fire another Flamethrower at Primeape. He knew that if Charmander's Flamethrower hits Primeape, then Ash's Hat will be burned. Knowing what he had to do, Pikachu scurried over
"Burn now, Charmander! Flamethrower attack!" Ash ordered
Charmander fired Flamethrower full blast. But before it can hit, Pikachu dashed over to Primeape. Green, Jake, Bulbasaur, and Cubone gasped as they saw this. Pikachu leaped over Primeape's head and snatched the cap with his mouth.
"Hey Pikachu!" Ash yelled
"He got the cap back!" Jake said
Pikachu, with the hat in his mouth, landed on the ground and quickly got out of the way just as Primeape got engulfed by the full power of Flamethrower. Once it subsided, Primeape shot some dust from it's nose and then fell over
"Look. Primeape is down" Green said
"Now all Ash needs to do is catch it" Jake added
" Good work, Charmander! I'll take over now!" Ash said as he takes out an empty Poké Ball "Poké Ball go!"
He throws the Poké Ball at Primeape. It hits Primeape and sucks it in. Everybody watches as the Poké Ball begins to shake and then it locks
"Yes!" Ash said
But his victory was short lived as the Poké Ball begins to shake again and pings again. This time for good
"Success!" Jake said
Ash runs over and picks up his newly caught Primeape with a laugh
"Alright! Primeape is mine!" he declared
His friends came up to him
"Way to go, buddy!" Jake said
"You did it!" Brock added
"Congratulations!" Misty added
"You finally caught, Primeape" Green added "Well done, Ash!"
"Chu" Pikachu said as he hands the cap to his trainer
"Thanks a lot, Pikachu" Ash said as he takes it
"Don't forget us" Jessie said as she and the rest of Team Rocket slowly emerged from the hole
"So, it's the Whole gang!" Ash taunted
"It's your fault we ended up in here!" Jessie yelled before noticing something missing "Where's Primeape?"
Ash and Jake both looked at each other and smiled mischievously
"Well, why don't you see for yourself?" Ash said before throwing Primeape's Poké Ball into the hole
"Oh, they're gonna be in a hole lotta trouble" Jake quipped
Green giggled at his joke while Bulbasaur and Cubone snickered
The Poké Ball opened and Primeape came out. Primeape then jumps at the trio and begin to give them a thrashing of their lives. Primeape then gives them an uppercut which sends all of them flying in the air
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" they yelled as they disappeared into the distance
" Primeape sure gave them a Thrashing." Misty said
"You can say that again" Jake said "I doubt they'll feel that in the morning"
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said
"Cubone" Cubone added
"Well, at least, now Primeape is doing the Thrashing on our side. Welcome to the team, Primeape." Ash said
Primeape punches Ash giving him a black eye which also knocks him to the ground. Jake and Green both winced at this
"Primeape's good at Thrashing, but it's got a lot to learn about team spirit!" Ash said
"I'll say" Jake said
"A hat might help" Brock said
"Better send in some postcards" Misty added
"That won't be necessary" Jake said "Ash finally got his hat back"
"I'll do whatever it takes to be a Pokémon master! Charmander, Primeape, return!" Ash said as he returns both Charmander and Primeape to their Poké Balls
Jake then walked over and held out his hand
"Need a hand?" he asked
Ash smiled and takes it to allow Jake to help him up
Pikachu followed by Bulbasaur and Cubone were going through the canyon until they see something up ahead.
"Pikachu Pika!" Pikachu called
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur called
"Cubone bone!" Cubone called
The gang then runs in
"What is it?" Ash asked
"Do you guys see something?" Jake asked
The gang looked ahead to see a city
"Wow" Green said
"There's Celadon City!" Brock said
"What do you know? Looks like we got here sooner than expected" Jake said
"I'll say" Green said
"You know, if Primeape hadn't chased us, we wouldn't have gotten here as fast as we did! Right, Brock?" Misty asked
"Yeah, I guess it was lucky after all!" Brock replied
"Pika Pika" Pikachu said
"Bulbasaur Bulba" Bulbasaur replied
"Cubone" Cubone replied
"Way to go, Primeape! Now that I caught a new Pokémon, it's time to earn a badge!" Ash said as he put his hat back on
"That goes double for me, buddy!" Jake added
And with that, the gang began to make their way over to Celadon City where the Ash and Jake are about to get their fifth badge
