Jake and the Celadon Gym Leader
Hello everyone. Before I begin, I just want to say that part of this episode will be based on Pokémon Scent-sation! while another episode is based on the game. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
The gang have finally made it to their next destination in Celadon City. As they were walking through the city, the gang saw how tall the buildings are in Celadon City.
"Wow. This place is huge" Green said
"I'll say. And the aroma smells pretty good" Jake added as he sniffed the air
Pikachu, Brock, Bulbasaur, Cubone and Misty sniffed the air also
"Jake is right. Something smells heavenly!" Brock said
"Perfume" Misty added
"Hey what's going on?" Ash asked
Brock then begins to run off
"Wait, Brock where are you going?" Ash asked
"Obviously, where the aroma is coming from" Jake said
"We better not lose him" Green added
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said
"Cubone" Cubone added
The gang then took off after Brock
They caught up to Brock who was pressing his face on a window of a store
"Who you making faces at, Brock?" Ash asked as he and Jake came over
"My nose tells me that this is my kind of town!" Brock answered giddily
"Huh?" Ash and Jake puzzled
They then look through the window to see some ladies talking. The building turned out to be a perfume shop
"So, then he says 'maybe we can both go together.'" A girl said to the others
"Why am I not surprised?" Jake said with a sweat drop
"I think we should stay here a while." said Brock completely lovestruck
Bulbasaur can only facepalm at this while Cubone looked confused
"Well, if you wanna waste your time. Jake, Misty, Green, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Cubone, let's get moving." Ash said
The boys turn to see that Pikachu and Misty are gone. Green, Bulbasaur, and Cubone were the only ones remaining
"That's funny. Where did they go?" Jake asked as he and Ash look around
Brock poked them on the shoulders to get their attention and points inside the perfume shop. They looked to see that Pikachu and Misty had gone inside the store wanting to try out the perfume.
"Well, looks like Pikachu and Misty wanted to try out the perfume" Green said as she looked through the window "Maybe I can try one out too. Come on, Jake!"
She then grabs Jake by the arm
"Whoa!" Jake yelped as he got pulled inside with Bulbasaur and Cubone followed after
Brock even followed after them
"Hey wait! What about the gym!?" Ash called out
Green and Jake were then inside the store looking at the different perfume in stock.
"You know you didn't have to drag me in, Green" Jake said annoyed "I can just follow you inside"
"Sorry, Jake. Got a little carried away there" Green said as she laughed nervously "I just wanted to check out these different perfumes"
"It's okay" Jake said "I will admit, it does smell nice in here"
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur added as it was also enjoying the aroma
"Cubone" Cubone added also liking the smell
"Hello"
They turn to see a woman with a long blue hair tied in a ponytail coming up to them
"Welcome to our perfume shop. Would you like to sample one of our perfumes?" she asked
"Sure" Green answered "What type of perfume do you have?"
"Well, I do have this one." the girl said as she hold up a blue perfume "This one's called Clear Ocean"
Green stuck out her arm and the girl sprayed the perfume on her arm. Green then sniffed it and sighed at how good it smelled
"How about you, young man?" the girl said as she turned to Jake
"Okay" he respond as he held out his wrist. The girl sprayed the perfume on it
Jake smelled the aroma and smiled
"Wow. This is really good" Jake said
"Mmhmm. We take great pride in our perfumes" the girl said "Each one is made from the different fragrances of our own creation"
"That's interesting to know" Jake said while Green nods her head
"Would you be interested in buying any of our perfumes?" the girl asked "It's only 20 dollars for you and your girlfriend"
This caused Jake and Green to blush at this
"She's not my girlfriend" Jake denied
"Yeah. We're just friends. Nothing else" Green added
"And to answer your question: we'll think about it" Jake said "Come on guys. Let's go"
Jake and Green walk off with Bulbasaur and Cubone following behind
"Okay then. If you change your mind, you can talk to our manager" the girl called
Jake and Green were walking through the store to meet up with their friends, they then heard a voice
"Young man, are you accusing me of overcharging my customers for inferior perfume?!"
They walked forward and saw a woman dressed in a kimono confronting Ash. Wanting to know what is going on, Jake walked up
"Excuse me, ma'am. But what seems to be the problem?" he asked
"This rude little boy said that my perfume is a waste of money and that it stinks" the lady said
Green, Bulbasaur, and Cubone gasped
"Ash, is that true?" Jake asked in disbelief
"I'm just saying what I think about perfume. And to answer your question, ma'am: No. I meant all perfumes are a ripoff cause all they do is turn guys into zombies. Like this!" Ash claimed as he pulls Brock in
"Hi. What's your name?" Brock asked still lovestruck
The woman smiled before directing her glare at Ash
"I think he just dug his own grave" Green said with a sweat drop
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said as it shook it's head
"Cubone" Cubone said as he covers his eyes
"P for pretty, E for elegant, R for radiant, F for fun, U for urbane, M for mysterious, E for energy, and that spells..." the woman in the kimono told him
"Perfume" Misty finished
"Right" Brock added
"Pika" Pikachu added
"I don't need that smelly junk to give me energy! I'm full of it! I got tons more energy than I know what to do with!" Ash claimed
"Um, Ash. I think you should stop talking right now" Jake warned
"If you object to our products so much, perhaps you should leave. Since we all sell perfume here, you must find us offensive." the girl in the kimono said angrily
"You should be ashamed of yourself!" a perfume employee scolded Ash
"You insensitive little worm!" another perfume employee added as she and another employee surround Ash
"What'd I say?" Ash asked cluelessly
Jake and Green both face palm at this. Ash was then kicked out of the store by an employee
"Get out and don't come back!" she yelled
"I don't wanna come back! I'm on my way to the Celadon City gym!" Ash yelled back before storming off
"And this is why we should watch what we say" Jake said as he saw this
"Especially in a perfume store like this one" Green added
Bulbasaur and Cubone both nod their heads in agreement
After leaving the perfume shop, Jake and Green parted ways with Misty, Brock, and Pikachu. They then head to the Pokémon Center where Nurse Joy healed their Pokémon. When that was done, Jake began to exchange his Tentacool for his new Vulpix and his Pikachu for his Beedrill on his Pokédex. Jake and Green were then outside on the battlefield near the Pokémon Center for a practice battle. Bulbasaur and Cubone were watching from the side
"Thanks for helping me practice for my Gym battle, Green" Jake said
"No problem, Jake" Green replied "Just don't hold anything back"
"Sure thing" Jake said as he takes out a Poké Ball "Vulpix, you're up!
He throws the Poké Ball and Vulpix came out
"Vulpix" it said
Green then takes out a Poké Ball
"Eevee, I choose you!"
She throws her Poké Ball and Eevee appears
"Eevee!" Eevee said
"Vulpix, I know that we've only known each other for a short time, but I'm gonna need your help with this okay?" Jake asked
"Vul vul" Vulpix said with a nod of it's head
"Let's begin!" Green said "Eevee, Tackle attack!"
Eevee charges at Vulpix and leaps at it
"Vulpix, dodge with Quick Attack and then use Ember!" Jake commanded
Vulpix used Quick Attack to avoid Eevee causing him to hit the ground. Vulpix then fires Ember which hits Eevee sending it skidding back.
"Eevee, shake it off and use Sand Attack!" Green said
Eevee begins to kick up dust at Vulpix
"Vulpix, close your eyes!" Jake instructed
Vulpix did just as that to prevent the sand from getting into it's eyes much to Green and Eevee's shock. Vulpix then shook it's head to get some remaining sand off it's face.
"Good work, Vulpix. Now use Quick Attack full speed!" Jake commanded
Vulpix rushes toward Eevee very fast and hits him, Eevee was sent flying and hits the ground
"Eevee!" Green yelled
Eevee slowly gets up and shook it's head
"Okay, Eevee, Quick Attack!" Green commanded
"Another Quick Attack, Vulpix!" Jake ordered
Eevee and Vulpix began to run at each other with Quick Attack. They then hit each other resulting in them skidding back.
"Hmmm. Vulpix, Tail Whip" Jake said
Vulpix then ran up to Eevee and begins to slap him with it's many tails. Eevee shook his head after that
"Eevee, Tackle attack!" Green ordered
Eevee tackled Vulpix but only made it skid back a bit
"Not bad, Green. But that won't stop us" Jake said "Vulpix, another Ember attack!"
Vulpix fired Ember at Eevee. It hits while causing Eevee's fur to catch on fire.
"Eevee!" Eevee cried as he begins to run around
"Oh no!" Green yelled
"Yes!" Jake said "Now Vulpix, one more Quick Attack!"
Vulpix used Quick Attack and hits Eevee making him skid on the floor
"Eevee!" Green yelled "Can you continue battling?"
Eevee tries to stand but then fell back down in exhaustion
"Oh yeah! Good work, Vulpix!" Jake said
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur cheered
"Cubone!" Cubone cheered
"Eevee, return!" Green said as she returns Eevee to his Poké Ball "That was good, Jake. Now it's time to face my next Pokémon."
She takes out another Poké Ball
"Bellsprout, your turn!"
She let's out Bellsprout
"Bellsprout"
"Bellsprout, huh?" Jake said as he recalled Vulpix "Spearow, I choose you!"
He throws his Poké Ball and Spearow comes out flying in the air
"Spearow!"
"Spearow?" Green asked "I guess you figured out what type this gym specializes in"
"You can say that" Jake answered "Spearow, dive down with Peck!"
Spearow dives down with it's beak glowing
"Bellsprout, dodge and use Stun Spore!" Green ordered
Bellsprout got out of the way just as Spearow tries to peck it. Bellsprout then unleashes Stun Spore at Spearow. Spearow coughs from the Stun Spore and fall on the ground. Jake, Bulbasaur, and Cubone gasped at this
"You got it!" Green said "Okay Bellsprout, use Wrap to tie up Spearow!"
Bellsprout shot out it's vines and wrap them around Spearow
"Spearow, use Leer!" Jake yelled
Spearow glared intensely at Bellsprout. This frightened Bellsprout as it loosen it's vines on it
"Now, break out of your bind and use Peck!" Jake ordered
Spearow broke out of the vines and flew into the air. It's beak then glows and begins to peck at Bellsprout causing major damage to it.
"Bellsprout, shake it off and use Vine Whip!" Green ordered
Bellsprout shot it's vines at Spearow
"Dodge them all, Spearow!" Jake ordered
Spearow listened to Jake as it dodge the vines in the air. Cubone and Bulbasaur followed where Spearow is dodging
"Now, Fury Attack!" Jake ordered
Spearow dives down at Bellsprout and begin to repeatedly peck Bellsprout with Fury Attack
"Good Spearow!" Jake said "Now, one more Peck!"
Spearow then used Peck on Bellsprout again which causes even more damage. Bellsprout then fell down defeated
"Bellsprout!" Green yelled
"Yes! Victory number two!" Jake said as he raised his fist up "Nice work, Spearow!"
"Spearow Spear!" Spearow said as it flew up to him
Bulbasaur and Cubone cheered for their trainer's second victory. Green smiled and returns Bellsprout to it's Poké Ball
"Don't worry, Bellsprout. We'll train hard next time" she said as she looked at Bellsprout's Poké Ball
"Okay Jake. This will be the third and last battle" Green told Jake "Are you ready?"
"Always" Jake replied as he returns Spearow
"Squirtle, I choose you!" Green said as she chose Squirtle
"Squirtle!" Squirtle said as it appears on the battlefield
"Beedrill, come on out!" Jake said as he let's out Beedrill
Beedrill buzzes as it came onto the field
"Let's get this battle started!" Green yelled "Squirtle, Bubble attack!"
Squirtle shot some bubbles at Beedrill.
"Beedrill, go over it and use Fury Attack!" Jake ordered
Beedrill flew over the bubbles and then begins to hit Squirtle with Fury Attack
"Squirtle, shake it off and use Tackle!" Green commanded
Squirtle jumped up and tackles Beedrill, knocking it to the ground
"Oh yeah? Beedrill, get up and use your Twineedle!" Jake ordered
Beedrill's pincers glow and charges at Squirtle
"Squirtle, dodge and use Tackle again!" Green said
Squirtle dodges Beedrill as it tries to use Twineedle on it. Squirtle then tackles Beedrill hard sending it skidding on the ground
"Beedrill!" Jake gasped
Bulbasaur and Cubone were shocked at this
"Nice! Now Squirtle, Water Gun full blast!" Green yelled
Squirtle shoots Water Gun at Beedrill, washing it away on the ground.
"Beedrill, can you get up?" Jake asked
Beedrill got up, but due to the water on it's wings, it was difficult for it to fly. Green saw this
"Now's your chance, Squirtle! Another Tackle on Beedrill!" she yelled
Squirtle leaps and tackles Beedrill. Beedrill skids on the ground with swirls in it's eyes
"Beedrill!" Jake yelled
Bulbasaur and Cubone became shocked that Beedrill was defeated
"Good work, Squirtle" Green said as she kneeled down and pat Squirtle's head
Jake smiled and returns Beedrill to it's Poké Ball
"You tried your best, Beedrill. We'll work on that in the Celadon Gym" he said
Jake and Green then walked up to each other and shook hands
"Good battle, Green" Jake said
"Thanks, Jake." Green replied "I may have won the third round, but you still won in the last two"
"It was still good practice though" Jake said as they let go
"Shall we head over to the Celadon Gym?" Green asked
"Sure thing" Jake replied "But first, we're gonna need to make a quick stop to the Pokémon Center"
"Right. After all, you can't beat the gym leader if your Pokémon are all exhausted" Green said
Bulbasaur and Cubone both nod their heads in agreement
After healing their Pokémon at the Pokémon Center, Jake, Green, Bulbasaur, and Cubone were walking through Celadon City to find the gym. Green looked ahead and sees something
"Hey, look!" she said as she pointed forward
Jake looked to see a building that is shaped like the top of Gloom's head
"That must be the gym" Jake said "Let's go"
They made their way over. As they reached the steps, they see Ash sitting on the steps looking depressed
"There's Ash" Green said as they walked up to him
"Hey Ash" greeted Jake
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur said
"Cubone" Cubone added
Ash turned to look at them. They became shock when they see a big red X on his face
"Hey Jake. Hey Green" Ash greeted gloomily
"What happened to you?" Jake asked
"I tried to challenge the Celadon Gym leader, but those girls won't let me in" Ash explained
A flashback shows Ash at the entrance of the Celadon Gym, but a bunch of girls refuse to let him enter
"What do you mean I can't come in?! I'm trying to become a Pokémon master!" Ash yelled
"I wouldn't let you in if you were the last Pokémon trainer on Earth!" a blue haired girl shouted
"Huh?" Ash asked confused
"This gym doesn't allow anyone inside who says that perfumes are a stinky ripoff!" the blue haired girl claimed
"Why not!?" Ash demanded
"We manufacture that "stinky perfume" right here in this gym." a brown haired girl informed
"Uh oh" Ash said as he realized his mistake
"So, you see, young man.." the blue haired girl said as she slammed Ash's face with a big stamp "You're the stinker!"
Ash fell to the ground with a big red x over his face. The door to the Celadon Gym then closes
Ash got up and went to the door
"But don't you understand?! I have to challenge your gym master so I can win a badge! You've gotta let me in!" he begged
But the blue haired girl taunted him by down her eyelid and sticking out her tongue. She then left
"Pretty please, with a cherry on top?" Ash continue to beg
The flashback ends as it returns to the present when Ash finished explaining what happened
"Well, it serves you right for what you said about their perfume" Green said with a huff
"How was I suppose to know?" Ash asked "I was only saying what I thought about it"
"That's true, Ash" Jake said " But sometimes if you say the wrong thing, you might end up offending people and that could lead you to trouble"
Ash nod his head as he understood what his friend was saying. Jake then look up at the gym with a glare
"But still. This is an outrage!" he said "No gym leader should do this to a challenger! It's against the rules!"
"Yeah!" Green said
"Bulb!" Bulbasaur said
"Cubone!" Cubone added
"But what'll I do?" Ash asked "Without the Celadon badge, I'll never be able to compete in the Pokémon League"
"Leave that to me, Ash" Jake said "I'm going into that Gym and have this all straighten out"
"In the meantime, you wait out here until this is done. And also think about what you did back in the perfume shop" Green added
They marched up the stairs leaving Ash alone
Jake, Green, Bulbasaur, and Cubone entered the gym. The receptionist and another girl was by the entrance
"Hello" the blue haired girl greeted "Can I help you two?"
"Yes. We would like to see the gym leader" Jake replied
"Okay. You two can head to the front desk. One of our employees will help you out" the blue haired girl said
"Thank you" Green said
The walk over to a desk where they see a girl behind it. But not just any girl, it was one of the employees from the perfume shop
"Hi, are you here to challenge Ms. Erika?" she asked
"Yes I am" Jake replied
"Bulbasaur" Bulbasaur replied
"Cubone" Cubone added
"Aren't you one of the employees from the perfume shop?" Green asked
"Yes. And I also help run the gym" the girl replied as she walks up to them "If you're going to challenge Erika, allow me to escort you and your girlfriend to her"
This made Jake and Green blush
"She's/I'm not my/his girlfriend!" they shouted simultaneously
The girl giggles as she lead them through the gym to find Erika. They then came to a room
"You'll find Miss Erika in this room" The girl said "Good luck"
"Thank you" Jake said as he, Green, Bulbasaur, and Cubone went inside. The inside of the room looked almost similar to that of a forest. In the room, some girls were caring for some Grass type Pokémon. A blue haired girl wearing a red headband, a sea green short sleeved dress with white stripes, and red flat shoes was telling Misty, Brock, Pikachu, and other girls a story.
"And so, Omanyte bid farewell, and promised to, one day, return to visit the friends who changed his life on that far away beach. The end." The blue girl said as she was showing them a book
"Great story" Brock said tearfully
"Pika" Pikachu said
"Excuse me?" Jake called
They turn to see Jake, Green, Bulbasaur, and Cubone coming up
"Jake!" Brock said
"Green!" Misty added
"Pika" Pikachu said
"Hey, guys!" Green greeted
"Which one of you ladies is Erika, the Celadon Gym Leader?" Jake asked
"That would be me" the blue haired girl said as she raised her hand "I am Erika. Are you challenging me to a gym match, young man?"
"My name is Jake and I am" Jake said
"Well then, Jake. I accept" Erika said
Erika and Jake are on opposite sides of a battlefield. Green, Bulbasaur, Cubone, Misty, and Brock were sitting at some bleachers to spectate. Even Erika's workers were sitting on the bleachers to watch.
"We will each be using three Pokémon in this Gym battle" Erika said
"Fine by me" Jake said
"Go, Jake!" Green cheered
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur cheered
"Cubone!" Cubone cheered
"Take him down, Ms. Erika!" yelled one of the Gym staff
"I'll go first" Erika said as she took out a Poké Ball "Tangela, I choose you!"
She throws her Poké Ball and out comes a Pokémon with blue vines covering it and standing on red feet.
"Hmmm" Jake said as he took out his Pokédex and scans it
Jake's Pokédex: Tangela, the Vine Pokémon. The whole body is swathed with wide vines that are similar to seaweed. Its vines shake as it walks.
"That sure is a lot of vines" Jake said as he puts his Pokédex away and takes out a Poké Ball. "Beedrill, you're first!"
He throws the Poké Ball and Beedrill came out. Misty shivered at seeing Beedrill
"Why did it have to be a Bug type?" she squeaked
Green and Bulbasaur both sweat dropped at this while Cubone just look at them confused
"Beedrill, huh? Looks like you came prepared." Erika said "But that alone won't help you"
"We shall see" Jake replied
"Let the battle begin!" Erika said "Tangela, start this off with Constrict!"
Tangela shot it's vines at Beedrill
"Dodge the vines in the air, Beedrill" instructed Jake
Beedrill flew up in the air to avoid the vines
"Use Constrict again, Tangela" Erika ordered "Grab that Beedrill!"
"Keep dodging, Beedrill!" Jake said
Tangela continues to shoot it's vines and Beedrill attempting to grab it, but Beedrill was fast as it dodged the vines swiftly
"Wow. Look at Beedrill go" Brock said
"I may not like bugs, but I am impressed with it's speed" Misty added
Green nods her head at them as she remembered seeing Jake's battle with Sabrina
"Now Beedrill, Poison Sting!" Jake commanded
Beedrill fired Poison Sting at Tangela which causes major damage to it
"Tangela!" Erika yelled
"You got it!" Jake said "Now, Twineedle!"
Beedrill flew in with it's pinsirs glowing and used Twineedle on Tangela causing it even more damage. Bulbasaur and Cubone both cheered for Beedrill
"You're doing good, Jake! Keep it up!" Green called
Jake smiled at this
"Tangela, fight back with Vine Whip!" Erika commanded
Tangela recovered from the attack and used Vine Whip to hit Beedrill. Beedrill was pushed back a bit
"Beedrill, shake off the Vine Whip and use another Twineedle!" Jake ordered
Beedrill flew up to Tangela
"Not so fast, Jake! Tangela, Constrict!" Erika ordered
Tangela shot out it's vines and this time was able to grab Beedrill. Jake, Green, Misty, Bulbasaur, and Cubone gasped at this
"Beedrill's been caught!" Brock said
"Beedrill, get out of there!" Jake yelled
"Keep holding Beedrill and use Mega Drain!" Erika said
Tangela, still holding Beedrill with it's vines, used Mega Drain and is starting to absorb it's energy
'Oh no! I better think of something to get Beedrill out of here' thought Jake
He begins to think and finally gets an idea
"I got it!" he said "Beedrill, shoot String Shot in Tangela's eyes!"
Beedrill looked up at Tangela weakly. It then shoots String Shot at Tangela's eyes blinding it. Erika gasped at this
"Hey, I've seen this before" Green said
"You have?" Misty asked
"Yeah. Sabrina's Kadabra had Beedrill in a tight spot, so Jake had him use String Shot to blind Kadabra" Green explained
"Wow. I wish we were there to see that" Brock said
With Tangela blinded, it's vines loosen around Beedrill
"Beedrill, get out of there!" Jake said
Though it is weakened, Beedrill was able to fly out of the vines and into the air
"Tangela, get the String Shot off of you!" Erika called
"Beedrill, Poison Sting!" Jake ordered
Just as Tangela was about to get the webs off of it's eyes, Beedrill flew in and fired Poison Sting which hits Tangela
"No!" Erika yelled
"Now Beedrill, Fury Attack and follow it up with another Twineedle!" Jake said
Beedrill flew and and used Fury Attack on Tangela which causes damage. It's pincers then glowed as Beedrill used Twineedle on Tangela which causing major damage.
Tangela then fell on it's back with it's eyes in swirls
"Tangela!" Erika yelled
"Wow. He did it!" Misty said surprised
"Uh huh. He beat one of Erika's Pokémon" Green replied
"Jake really knows how to play it smart" Brock said
Bulbasaur and Cubone cheered for their trainer's victory
"Good work, Beedrill!" Jake said as he gives it a thumbs up
Beedrill nods it's head and held up it's pincer to copy it's trainer
"Tangela, return!" Erika said as she returns Tangela to it's Poké Ball "You battled hard. Take a good rest"
She then looks at Jake
"That was good, Jake. But now you'll face my next Pokémon" Erika continued as she takes out another Poké Ball "Weepinbell, I choose you!"
She throws the Poké Ball and Weepinbell comes out
"Weepinbell!" Weepinbell said
"Weepinbell, huh?" Jake said before turning to Beedrill "Wanna keep battling, Beedrill?"
Beedrill nods it's head
"Okay then" Jake replied "Let's start second round!"
"Yes. Let's" Erika said "Weepinbell, Razor Leaf!"
Weepinbell did what Erika said and fired Razor Leaf at Beedrill
"Dodge them all, Beedrill!" Jake said
Beedrill dodge the Razor Leaf attacks, but ends up getting hit by two attacks
"Oh man. Beedrill must be still weak from Tangela's Mega Drain" Green said
"Cubone" Cubone said feeling worried
"Beedrill, focus and use Twineedle!" Jake said
Beedrill charges in and with it's pinsirs glowing, used Twineedle on Weepinbell causing it damage.
"Weepinbell, get Beedrill with Stun Spore!" Erika ordered
Weepinbell fired Stun Spore towards Beedrill
"To the air, Beedrill!" Jake ordered
Beedrill flew up to the air to avoid the Stun Spore, but fell down the air a bit due to it being tired
"Now get behind Weepinbell and use Fury Attack!" Jake ordered
Beedrill did what Jake said as it flew behind Weepinbell. Unfortunately, Erika saw this
"Weepinbell, behind you!" she warned
Weepinbell turns and sees Beedrill
"Uh oh!" Jake gulped
"Now Weepinbell, Sleep Powder!" Erika yelled
Weepinbell emits a purple powder which bathes Beedrill. Beedrill begins to doze off and fell to the ground.
"Oh no! Beedrill's asleep!" Green said
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur yelled
"Cubone!" Cubone said worried
"This is not looking good for Jake" Brock said
Jake watched as Beedrill was snoozing
"Beedrill, wake up!" he yelled
"Weepinbell, use Acid!" Erika ordered
Weepinbell fired Acid which hits the sleeping Beedrill. Jake and the others gasped at this
"Now Weepinbell, finish Beedrill off with Razor Leaf!" Erika commanded
Weepinbell fires Razor Leaf at Beedrill. Beedrill skid on the ground and now has swirls in it's eyes showing that it's defeated.
"Beedrill!" Jake yelled
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur yelled
"Cubone!" Cubone yelled
"Well done, Weepinbell!" Erika said
"Weepinbell" Weepinbell said to her
Jake smiled as he returned Beedrill to it's Poké Ball
"Good work, Beedrill. You earned a rest" he said as he takes out another Poké Ball "Time for a little heat. Vulpix, your turn!"
Jake throws the Poké Ball and Vulpix came out
"Vulpix Vul!"
"Wow. When did Jake catch a Vulpix?" Misty asked
"Probably back on Route 7" Brock guessed
"That should help him" Green said "Fire types have the advantage over Grass types"
Bulbasaur and Cubone both nodded at what she said
"Vulpix? A lot of challengers I faced always used Fire types when they battle me. This will be no different" Erika said "Weepinbell, Acid attack!"
"Dodge them all, Vulpix" Jake said
Vulpix dodge the Acid attack
"Now, Quick Attack!" Jake ordered
Vulpix charged very fast at Weepinbell and hits it, knocking Weepinbell to the ground.
"Get up Weepinbell!" Erika said
"Okay Vulpix, now use Ember!" Jake ordered
Vulpix fired Ember at Weepinbell which causes major damage. Weepinbell then got up
"Use Razor Leaf!" Erika ordered
Weepinbell fired Razor Leaf at Vulpix
"Oh yeah? Vulpix use your Ember to burn down the Razor Leaf!" Jake said
Vulpix fired Ember which burns the Razor Leaf attack. Erika and Weepinbell gasped in shock at this
"Now move in and use another Quick Attack!" Jake yelled
Vulpix charges in with Quick Attack and hits Weepinbell making it skid back.
"Not bad, Jake. But I'm afraid it's not good enough!" Erika said "Weepinbell, Stun Spore!"
Weepinbell fires Stun Spore at Vulpix
"Quick Vulpix, use your Quick Attack to get out of the way!" Jake ordered
Vulpix obeyed Jake and used Quick Attack to avoid the Stun Spore. Vulpix then appeared behind Weepinbell
"Now use Ember. Full power!" Jake said
Vulpix charged it's Ember attack and fired at Weepinbell. The attack not only caused major damage to Weepinbell, but it also burned Weepinbell
"Weepinbell!" Erika said with worry
"Come on Ms. Erika. Fight back!" one of the Gym staff called out
"Weepinbell, fight through the burn and use Acid!" Erika ordered
Weepinbell fired Acid at Vulpix
"Vulpix dodge them all" Jake said
Vulpix dodges the attack and charges in
"Keep firing Acid, Weepinbell" Erika said
"Vulpix keep dodging the Acid. When you get close enough, use Tail Whip!" Jake ordered
'What is he up to?' thought Erika
Vulpix charges towards Weepinbell while dodging the Acid attack that it spew at it. Once Vulpix was close enough, it then begins to slap Weepinbell in the face with it's six tails. Weepinbell shook it's head from this
"Now use Ember!" Jake ordered
Vulpix turns around and fires Ember at Weepinbell which sends it skidding on the ground.
"Weepinbell!" Erika shouted "Get up! Please!"
Weepinbell tries to get up but it then suffers from burn. It then fell back down on the ground defeated much to Erika's shock
"Good work, Vulpix" Jake said
"Vulpix" Vulpix said as it looked at Jake happily
"Two down, one to go" Green said as she watched this
"Jake sure is on a roll" Brock said
"I know. He's really outsmarting Erika" Misty said "And his new Vulpix is so cute!"
Bulbasaur and Cubone cheered for their trainer's second victory
Return, Weepinbell!" Erika said as she returns Weepinbell "I have to admit, Jake. You continue to impress me with your skills, but I'm afraid I can't let you claim victory so easily."
"I don't expect a match to be easy, Erika. I'm just ready for any challenge sent my way" Jake said
"Well said. This will be the final round" Erika said as she took out her third Poké Ball "Gloom, I choose you!"
She let's out her Gloom
"Gloom, huh?" Jake said before turning to Vulpix "Do you want to keep going, Vulpix?"
"Vul vul" Vulpix replied with a nod of it's head
"Okay then" Jake said
"Let's begin!" Erika said "Gloom, start the battle off with Petal Dance"
Gloom then used Petal Dance which shoots pink petals at Vulpix
"Vulpix, dodge with Quick Attack and then get in close to use Ember!" Jake commanded
Vulpix did as Jake said as it used Quick Attack to get away from the attack, but just as it was charging towards Gloom...
"Oh no you don't!" Erika said "Gloom, Stun Spore!"
Jake gasped as Gloom shoots Stun Spore at Vulpix. Vulpix coughs and then fell to the ground unable to move
"No!" Jake yelled
"Vulpix is paralyzed!" Green yelled
"Oh no!" Misty added
"How is Jake gonna get out of this?" asked Brock
"Go, Ms. Erika!" one of the gym staff cheered
"Keep it up!" another gym staff added
"Gloom, use Acid on Vulpix!" Erika ordered
Gloom spit Acid at Vulpix which hits and causes damage to Vulpix!
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur yelled
"Cubone!" Cubone yelled in shock
"Now use another Petal Dance!" Erika commanded
Gloom then fired Petal Dance and hits Vulpix, sending it skidding on the ground
"Vulpix!" Jake yelled
Vulpix tries to get up
"Come on. Get up!" Jake said
Due to the Stun Spore, Vulpix was struggling to stand up
"Gloom, another Acid attack!" Erika commanded
Worried about Vulpix, Jake took out it's Poké Ball
"Vulpix, return!" he said as he recalled Vulpix just before the Acid could hit it
"Phew. That was close" Green said
"Yeah. If Jake didn't recalled Vulpix, who knows what will happen to it" Misty said
"Let's just hope he has a plan" Brock said
"So you're switching out?" Erika asked
"Oh yeah" Jake said "Spearow, I choose you!"
He throws the Poké Ball and let's out Spearow
"Spearow!"
"So it's a Flying type, huh?" Erika said "Let's see what it's got!"
"Gladly" Jake said "Spearow, go for a Peck attack!"
Spearow charges at Gloom
"Gloom, defend yourself with Stun Spore!" Erika said
Gloom began to shoot Stun Spore. Luckily, Jake saw this
"Spearow, stop your attack and fly up!" he commanded
Spearow did what Jake said and flew upward to avoid the Stun Spore
"Now get behind Gloom and use Peck!" Jake ordered
Spearow flew very fast and gets behind Gloom. It then used Peck which causes major damage to Gloom
"Gloom, behind you! Use Acid!" Erika said
"Back up the air, Spearow!" Jake ordered
Spearow immediately flew back up the air
"Oh yeah? Gloom, fire Petal Dance! Knock Spearow out of the sky!" Erika ordered
"Avoid the attack by flying, Spearow!" Jake told his Spearow
Gloom begins to fire Petal Dance at Spearow, who dodges the attacks by flying. Spearow flew around the battlefield while avoiding Gloom's Petal Dance. The spectators watched this as they were following where Spearow was flying. Jake was keeping an eye on where Spearow was flying. He then notices Spearow flying by Gloom's side.
"There Spearow! Use Fury Attack!" he yelled
Spearow flew up and used Fury Attack causing Gloom to skid back
"Gloom, fire Acid!" Erika said
Gloom fired Acid which hits Spearow and making it hit the ground. Jake's friends gasped as they saw this
"Now, use Petal Dance!" Erika ordered
Gloom fired Petal Dance at Spearow
"No Spearow!" Jake yelled
But then, Spearow copied Gloom by firing Petal Dance with it's wings to cancel out Gloom's. Everyone gasped at this
"Wait a minute! Spearow can't use Grass type moves" Misty said
"It can't. That must be Mirror Move" Brock said
"Mirror Move?" Green asked
"It's a move that Flying type Pokémon can use to counter opponents with the last attack that it used" Brock explained
Bulbasaur and Cubone cheered for Spearow
"Wow. Good for you, Spearow!" Jake said
"Spearow" Spearow said as it nods it's head at it's trainer
"New move or not. I'm still gonna take you down" Erika said "Gloom, fire another Petal Dance!"
Gloom fired Petal Dance at Spearow
"Spearow, fly out of the way and use your new Mirror Move!" Jake ordered
Spearow flew in the air to avoid the attack and used Mirror Move by flapping it wings to fire it's own Petal Dance which hits Gloom and causing it damage. Gloom was starting to get tired as it starts panting
"Okay Spearow, use Fury Attack!" Jake yelled
Spearow flew down and used Fury Attack to hit Gloom
"Gloom!" Erika yelled
"Alright Spearow, use Peck back to back!" Jake yelled
Spearow then came at Gloom with it's beak glowing. It then unleashes Peck on Gloom from one side to another. Spearow kept going until Gloom couldn't take it anymore. Gloom then fell on it's back with swirls in it's eyes
"No!" Erika yelled as she fell to her knees
"Yes! We did it!" Jake yelled
"Spearow!" Spearow added
"He won!" Green said
Bulbasaur and Cubone cheered for their trainer's victory
"Jake sure is strong out there" Brock said
"Yeah. He sure knows how to battle" Misty added impressed
Erika smiled at her Gloom and returns it to it's Poké Ball
"You did great, Gloom. Thanks for battling so hard" she said
With the battle over, Erika walked over to Jake
"Jake, you really showed some skills in our Gym battle. In recognition of your victory, I award you the Rainbow Badge" she said as she hands him a badge that resembles a flower with several colors on the petal
"Thank you, Erika" Jake said as he takes it "That makes badge number five for me"
Bulbasaur and Cubone cheered. Jake then looks at Erika
"By the way, Erika. I would like to talk to you about something" Jake said
"Sure. What do you want to talk about?" Erika asked
"Well, for starters. I heard from my friend, Ash that you barred him from your gym" Jake replied as he narrows his eyes
"Ash?" Erika asked as she ponders "Oh. You mean that rude boy with the cap? Yes, he did say those nasty things about my perfume"
"Wait a minute" Green said as she, Bulbasaur, and Cubone walked up "You mean you were the woman in the kimono back at the perfume shop?"
"Mmmhmmm. After having my employees kick him out, I then had my Gym staff deny him access to my gym" Erika explained
"That's right!" one of the Perfume shop employees said "Anyone who insults Ms. Erika's perfume is unworthy of challenging her to a gym match!"
"Even if that's the case, you can't do that!" Jake argued
"Why not?" Erika asked
"Because: two wrongs don't make a right" Jake lectured "Look Erika, I know you don't like it when someone makes fun of your perfume, but you have to remember that you're a gym leader. And the one rule a gym leader should always follow is to never turn away a challenger. Especially if said challenger insulted your perfume"
Erika gasped as she was reminded of that. Jake then turns to Misty and Brock
"Clearly you two should know that, since you were gym leaders yourselves"
Misty and Brock both looked at each other
"He does have a point" the latter said
Jake then turns to look at Erika
"And another thing. Don't you think you were being a little unfair to Ash? Yes, he did offended you with what he said about your perfume, but that doesn't mean you should take it so personally. I mean, if you do this to other challengers, then you would be hurting their chances of entering the Pokémon League" Jake continued to lecture
"He's right you know" Green spoke up
Bulbasaur and Cubone both nod their heads as they too agreed with Jake
"Also, my friend, Ash is one of the best battlers I know. You would be wrong to turn him away like that" Jake explained "So please, let him battle you"
Erika was looking down feeling bad for what she had done. Jake's friends both smiled at what Jake did. But then, two of the gym staff then angrily confront him
"How dare you say that to Ms. Erika!" the blue haired gym staff yelled
"Maybe we should have barred from the gym too!" the brown haired girl added
"No!" Erika said which caused them to stop "He's right. I was so focused on my perfume, that I took it too personally as a gym leader. I should've realized what I did was wrong and I should never have turned away a challenger like Ash"
"Does this mean, you'll unban Ash from your Gym?" Green asked
"Yes. I will" Erika said
Just then, a mysterious girl comes into the room
"Excuse me?" she asked
Everyone turns to see her
"My name is Ashley and I'm here to learn about perfume" she said
Jake got a good look at her face and instantly knew how she is
'You've gotta be kidding me' he thought with a sweat drop
"It's nice to meet you" Erika greeted as she came up to her
"Thank you ma'am" Ashley replied
Misty, Brock, and Pikachu then came up to him. Somehow, they feel something familiar about him
"Who's that girl?" Green asked as she stood next to Jake
"I think that's Ash in disguise" Jake replied
"Really?" Green asked in surprise
"Uh huh. I know his face anywhere" Jake responded
Bulbasaur and Cubone looked at each other in surprise
"You look awfully familiar" Misty said suspiciously "Haven't we met someplace before?"
"Maybe you met my sister" Ashley said nervously
Pikachu then walked up to her which caused her to freak out
"Pika Pi" Pikachus said as he recognized her
"Hey knock it off" Ashley said in Ash's voice as Pikachu tries to hug her
Annoyed, Pikachu zaps Ashley with his Thundershock. This caused her hair to fall off, revealing her as Ash Ketchum in disguise. Everyone gasped in surprise
"It's Ash!" his friends yelled
"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said
"Cubone!" Cubone added
"Yeah, it's me" Ash said
"You're that boy!" Erika gasped
"Erika, you wouldn't let me in. So I wore this stupid disguise" Ash explained "I had to sneak into your gym so I can battle you for a badge. And now I wanna challenge you!"
"Okay" Erika said
"Huh?" Ash puzzled
"I accept your challenge" Erika replied "Your friend here reminded me of my duties as a gym leader"
"Really?" Ash asked as he looks at Jake
"It's true, Ash. You can now challenge, Erika" Jake said
Ash smiled at his best friend
"But, we're gonna have to postpone the match til tomorrow" Erika said
"Why?" Ash asked
"After my gym battle, all of my Pokémon are exhausted. So I'm gonna have to tend to them until then" Erika answered
"Okay then. Tomorrow it is. Come on guys" Ash said
Ash, Jake, and the gang then exited the gym and walked down the steps
"By the way, Ash. Why were you dressed as a girl?" Jake asked
"I don't want to talk about it" Ash replied "It's too embarrassing"
Bulbasaur and Pikachu couldn't help but chuckle as they imagined what Ash went through to dress up as a girl. Cubone on the other hand just shook his head in amusement.
