Hi this my first time making a FanFiction on here let me hear some criticism as I write this I'd really appreciate it. I have a few ideas of other fan fictions in the future as well. So this is my take on those hiccup run away from berk stories I liked some of them but they just seem repetitive with the story so I want to change it up at least a little let me know what you think with this first chapter
It's been 1 year since the defeat of the red death and jerk made peace with the dragons our hero hiccup haddock had turned his life around from the town screw up he was known as during the war. At least he thought he did, while being able to walk around with toothless without a Viking rushing him with an axe was nice but as time went on people began to grow impatient with the dragons even the ones of the riders which also meant grew impatient with hiccup. It started out slow with the village began to give the dragons glances of mistrust as if they were trying to keep an eye on them. Then as time went the villagers weren't as quiet about how they felt towards the dragons soon enough they started to take it out on hiccup even his father started acting like when the war was still ongoing. It got bad enough where hiccup had realized he was back to where he started. But there was something different this time around, he wasn't all on his own this time. While the village reverted to hating dragons the very same group of teenagers he had fought along side to stop the red death stood by him they saw how the village started to go backwards on the progress made and they were even more disgusted how the villagers just took all of it out on hiccup, over the past year they all grew really close they went out of their way to hang out and treated each other way better than before as if they created their own family. It wasn't long until the teens started to be targeted primarily by their parents to get rid of their dragons or stop talking to hiccup they did neither.
We begin our story in the cove this was the only place the group felt they weren't being pressured by anyone. They were with each other and they're dragons they would be there for good amount of time during the day they sometimes would stay out at night. The cove became a place where they could just be them, vent about anything, talk and just hang out. Unfortunately most the teens had news that no one was gonna like to hear.
Hiccup was the first to get to the cove excited to see his friends he heard from Astrid that there was something She needed to talk about with everyone. Slowly but surely everyone got to the cove on dragon back everyone looking very sad or angry hiccup noticed this." Hey guys is everything alright" hiccup asked with a worried expression. Astrid was the first to start he noticed how upset she was as if she wanted to punch something " no everything is not alright apparently my parents decided it was time to ship me off they decided I'm getting married to someone from a different island" hearing this hiccups heart shattered hearing all of it but it wasn't the end of it. Fish legs came up with tears running down his face" I'm in the same situation my parents are sending me to be married to a girl in the meatheads they just told me today". snotlout came next looking like he was going to pass out from rage" my dad wants me to get rid of hookfang he says he's disappointed that I'm consorting with our enemy he even gave me an ultimatum to either get rid of hookfang or leave the island". the twins walked up noticeably upset as if they spent hours crying" we're being separated to wed into some wealthy families to make new allies for Berk" after hearing them all hiccup was close to tears hearing all them practically being forced off the island and realized if they left he would be the only one left on Berk he was so close to all of them he didn't want to lose the greatest friends he's had on the island. What got him was how he never heard about any of these things from his dad. He was still in thought when he was brought out of his thoughts by snotlout shaking him." Hic you just been standing there like you were in a trance everything alright" all his previous rage was practically gone replaced with worry for his cousin. Hiccup looked around everyone worried what he was thinking." Yeah I'm fine it's just we are hearing all this around the same time and yet I've not heard about any of this from my dad not even a passing comment" he said with suspicion everyone looked at him curiously. Hiccup continued" this is way too close to be a coincidence they had to have planned this to separate us" everyone soon had the realization too but they didn't know what to do Vikings hold tradition closer than anything they think disregarding tradition is blasphemy. Astrid was the next to speak bordering crying" so what should we do it's not like we can stop this we're just kids" she also was worried for hiccup if they all leave what would happen to him it's obvious the village doesn't even want to associate with him again but she wasn't the only one worried as the twins, snotlout, and fishlegs felt the same. Hiccup then came up with an idea it was crazy but they were desperate this just might work. " well we could give them what they want" they all looked as if hiccup grew a second head but he stopped them before they could say anything." Now I'm not saying to agree with them, what I'm thinking if they want everyone off the island so bad we give them what they want" hiccup says as seriously as possible. Everyone was silent until Astrid broke the silence." So we should all leave together" she was more curious than anything. Hiccup with a better resolve got up on a nearby rock" why not come on since we made 'peace' haven't you ever wanted to explore the archipelago or even beyond there is so much more out there than just Berk or the other tribes we just never went out to see it" he then pulled out several books and maps out of a bag" there are so many different cultures out there so many different dragons that Vikings had never seen before I say if Berk is going to separate us from each other and our dragons then I say we give them what they want by leaving together" hiccup finishes his speech and looked to the other teens seeming to be convinced. Astrid was the first to walk up to him " I'm in" fishlegs was next" so am I" then the twins and snotlout all go up saying the same. Hiccup looks on with complete joy knowing his friends are willing to go with him on an adventure to the great beyond. That left fishlegs to ask the question. " so how are we gonna do this" hiccup looks to everyone there he already had the plan started." For one we'll need supplies we pretend everything is normal as we start to gather what we need fishing lines, clothes whatever you all need we will start to bring everything to the cove slowly to avoid suspicion and after some time we will regroup here for one final goodbye to Berk and we head off to the great beyond" hiccup finishes his plan as everyone gathers their belongings he will also be charting out their first route which will lead out the archipelago. Everyone agrees to the plan and start going their separate ways to work on the plan.
Slowly over the next few weeks the teens bring supplies they will need and belongings they didn't want to leave with out. As they did this hiccup brought fish legs and Astrid over to the forge to show them the basics of using some stuff In the forge saying they would like to learn themselves, hiccup abliged with the lessons seeing as gobber thought it would be nice they were finding new ways to bond with each other. Hiccup came to realize Astrid and fish legs were pretty fast learners so he brought along his scematics as well in case they ever decide to settle for an island or any land he also realized that gobber won't know when they leave he only cared about gobbler because just like when the war was still going gobber was the only adult who cared about him, even though now he has real friends in the riders, gobber was still the only adult who cared about him secretly he was proud of hiccup making friends and he was proud the riders stuck by him for the time they had. Hiccup had thought to himself that he would at least try to tell gobber before he leaves.
At the cove you could see multiple bags laying near the big rocks to keep them hidden even though they knew no one goes to the cove they wanted to be safe in case their parents got suspicious. You see their parents specially stoick knew about the kids going to the cove to hang out but thought nothing of it but with them all leaving as much as they have questions did arise.
The final day the riders were on berk was just one day away hiccup convinced the others to be able to tell gobber since he knows gobber at least still cared that they stay together. So hiccup with Astrid and fish legs in tow made their way to the forge where the village blacksmith was working on some old swords he forgot about. As they entered the forge they see gobber hammering at a sword shouting obscenities which caused to chuckle knowing gobbers choice of language but left Astrid and fish legs shocked hearing how the kind blacksmith talks. After a moment of gobbers cursing he notices them all " aye hiccup Astrid fish legs what brings you my slice of Valhalla" gobber says. Hiccup starts while Astrid and fish legs shake themselves from everything gobber had said beforehand. " well gobber, we needed to talk to you about something and we were hoping to not let our parents know about this conversation" gobber looks with curiousity but he's basically able to read them really well at this point" let me guess you're not happy with how the adults are treating you so you're gonna leave berk" now hiccup was surprised at this thinking they hid their intentions well but before he could answer gobber continues" before ye say anything I don agree with how the adults are acting believe me when I say that" hiccup looked worried that gobber will tell his dad and the riders parents " are you going to tell dad" hiccup held his breathe as did Astrid and fish legs." No I'm not telling stoick or any of your parents thing is I'm proud you lot stuck by hiccup this time around but before you leave do me a favor and meet me at the forge I got something you might like hiccup" gobber said as he patted hiccup on the back. The three let gobber know they'll be leaving tomorrow night and they'll meet him before leaving to grab everything from the cove as they left the forge gobber sees them out and sticks by the doorway for a bit longer muttering to himself" I hope you find whatever is calling to ye lad and take care of yourself and the other kids" he goes back inside make sure he has everything ready for them for tomorrow night and finish the swords.
Later that night hiccup was in his house his father had just got back from being chief for the day and looked at his son in disappointment seeing that toothless was still there knowing it will be an arguement once he starts. " Son we need to talk" he started hiccup looked up but stayed silent seeing as the relationship between the two had all but shattered over the last year since stoick stopped caring about the dragons." Son I'm sorry to say this but the villagers have been very skiddish around the dragons the truth is no matter what you do Vikings will never get along with dragons we can't have the dragons here anymore that includes toothless" he finishes seeing toothless curl protectively around hiccup knowing what will happen being present for many of these arguements now." That wasn't much a talk more of a statement dad" stoick looked at hiccup irritated at how he started but hiccup continued regardless of his fathers irritation" dad I know what you're going to say ( imitating stoicks voice) as chief you got to do what is right by the village not for your own gain. But dad I'm not getting rid of toothless none of us are getting rid of our dragons you can either live with that or not either way they are staying" hiccup said with all the confidence he had in him knowing what he was gonna do tomorrow night. Stoick didn't like this seeing that as his own son wanted to disobey him like before but he knew this wouldn't get anywhere going back and forth so he had a back up." Very well hiccup I didn't want to do this but if you want to keep the dragons fine but let's see how long they'll be here when the village starts hunting them" stoick threatens, hiccup looks on in horror as he realizes that's why the riders were being separated they wanted all the dragons dead. Stoick confidently leaves the house to prepare the hunters hiccup on the other hand runs out with toothless close behind as they leave he does his dragon call to alert the other riders that something is wrong.
so that is the first chapter let me hear what you think of this sorry for the long chapter I've basically went on a couple rewrites it's been some time since I've written a story but thanks for reading and remember to give me some feedback I want to keep getting better at this so you can enjoy these more
