Hello again, it has been too long since the last chapter how's everyone doing I've been busy recently so working on the story had taken a back seat but the story is still being worked on but without further ado if that's the right word spelling the next step please enjoy.
The riders kept looking to dagur completely surprised he wanted to travel with them and even more Oswald looked as if he expected dagur to say this. Hiccup was the first to come back to reality and ask dagur." So what caused you to want to travel with us" dagur looked at his little brother," well the thing is while im going to become the berserker chief I wanted to travel for quite some time now but the very fact we were at war with the dragons put a damper on that plan since if anything happened to dad id be sworn in as chief while I don't want chiefdom just yet or anything to happen to dad I have a responsibility to protect my tribe" the riders looked stunned especially hiccup dagur always seemed to be the guy who will rush into a fight but this is new even for him. " but now the war is over and I now have shattermaster I want to see the world, learn what is outside the archipelago, hell even meet some new dragon species but I wont do it alone I want to be alongside my brother and learn a bit more about his dear friends he's made as well" they hiccup smiled at that and the riders felt touched that dagur wanted to get to know them. "But I won't if you guys don't want me along and if you don't, I'll understand" he finished thinking he was about to be rejected. The riders look at each other than hiccup to Oswald. "How do you feel about this sir" he wanted to hear what dagurs father felt since this is his son he's talking about when he asked, Oswald gave a soft smile. "You see hiccup dagur has shown a want to explore the world and now he has the ability to go where he pleases, I want him to accomplish everything he wants to in his life not to mention this could help in when he does become a chief" hiccup gives Oswald a confused look." You see hiccup a chief protects his own yes but not only that a chief has to have experiences to solve problems that happen in the tribe and some of those experiences dagur just won't get if he stays in the archipelago for the rest of his life to be a good chief he's got to have life experiences under his belt now he's got the lessons I've taught him but now I want him to experience the world meet new people learn new things so my thoughts on this I feel this will be the best course of action for his growth as a man and as my son" he paused then added a last detail " it also helps he will be with you all to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid" dagur looks at Oswald with a fake hurt expression" oh don't look at me that way son you know I'm valid in that comment remember when you stole gobbers peg leg and hid it in mildews cabbage field I still want to know how you did that in five minutes" he chuckled at the memory gobber hobbling on one leg while using a spear as a crutch to find his peg leg cursing the entire time. Hiccup remembered that too and tried to keep himself from laughing at the memory but then looked at the riders, they nod already knowing what he was going to ask. "dagur we would love to have you with us" dagur soon had hiccup in a bear hug happy about the outcome.
The berserkers soon had docked back on berserker island when they did the riders had basically dashed off the boat to find their dragons the moment they found their dragons was the most adorable thing anyone could see toothless had picked hiccup up on his head, stormfly started nuzzling astrid, meatlug tackled fishlegs, hookfang gently grabbed snotlout with his mouth, while barf and belch also nuzzled the twins. Oswald looked on at the reunion, glad to know the kids most importantly his kid will be alright but also seeing how much the riders care for their dragons. After the reunion, the dragons calmed down toothless noticed shattermaster and moved over to him. They both looked at each other, then both went wide eyed and started trotting in circles around each other like they were old friends. Hiccup looked on in surprise then to fishlegs." hey fish didn't the book of dragons say something about night fury's and skrills" fishlegs thought for a moment "yeah it said the two species were natural rivals but this looks like these two were really good friends" the riders look on amazed about this discovery while dagur looked with amusement seeing even their dragons are as close as he and hiccup are and hiccup looked on in happiness knowing toothless found an old friend. Oswald soon thought it be time to get the riders and dagur up to the great hall to speak on provisions and their plan going forward.
In the great hall
A group of berserkers and Oswald had gathered with the riders and dagur to discuss the journey they will be undertaking Oswald picked his most experienced berserkers for the fact these berserkers have been to different areas of the world outside the archipelago so they would have an idea what the riders would be walking into many of these people had seen more than even Oswald.
Hiccup displayed the maps he had shown the riders and the berserkers looked on in interest and surprise one spoke up "so you say you will be going to Constantinople first correct" hiccup nodded confirming the berserkers question " well I would suggest you start with rome it is a way closer to the archipelago and as soon as you finish you can then make your way to constantinople afterwards you could make your way to egypt which will take you into Africa if you follow a river that they call the nile river now the Caribbean and Japan will be the longest travel time so id suggest taking detours so your dragons can rest and you can still see more sights as you go along for these two places are basically on different sides of the world" they soon pull out a map much larger than any of hiccups and started to point out the distance between each place. The riders were amazed about how big the world was but knew they couldn't go everywhere so they stuck with the group of locations hiccup had maps of." We will definitely remember that sir would be a chance we could find one of these maps" astrid asked the man " well you can take this one im an old mapper I have multiple copies of this and many other maps I will also say you all chose some very lovely places to visit especially costantinople and the Caribbean ive been to both and they were just breathe taking" the riders were even more excited to see these places hearing what his berserker said about those two places specifically but the man continued" now while they are breathe taking locations and I would definitely travel to these places again you should be mindful of the Caribbean" this peaked the riders interest as the man pulled a large book out and opened it to a specific spot " in the Caribbean there is rumors of a place in the ocean called the Bermuda triangle this is said to be a ship graveyard for any ship that had went into the triangle they never came back no one knows what it is that causes them to disappear many say a sea monster others say the wrath of the gods but there is one thing that everyone knows" the riders listen closely as the man keeps reading the text in the book " that many good men and women have lost their lives in that triangle while I would say travel to your hearts content please children be mindful of this area specifically" the berserker warned them a chill went down their spines when he finished soon Oswald got their attention soon after " well if you are happy with the route I would say stay for another week before you leave now I understand you want to leave on your expedition as soon as possible but I was hoping you would be able to train dagur more in riding his dragon before you leave seeing as he is still learning and we will take care of your provisions and anything else you should come to need" the riders soon agreed thinking that dagur while he impressed them with his stunt when they were on the boat he still narrowly escaped being killed so a little bit more time helping him shouldn't hurt.
Not long after they concluded the meeting it had already become nighttime, so they all made their way to the huts the riders on the other hand went to hiccups hut again including dagur. Everyone was sitting at a table discussing everything dagur soon asked" so what do you guys think about the rumor about the Bermuda triangle" the first to answer was snotlout " I bet its just some pirates me and hooky will be able to shred them with all this" he soon started to flex causing hiccup and astrid to facepalm fishlegs groan in annoyance and the twins start to snicker heavily(hey they are close but doesn't mean they wont mess with eachother) he soon sat back down a little embarrassed. Hiccup was next to comment "well seeing as these are just rumors, I'd probably say that this area might have a scauldron nest or bad weather maybe" they all agreed that it may be one of those ideas but went back to the subject before. They were looking over the world map given to them by the man when they were in the great hall they had given some thought about the route the berserkers suggested and thought it would be the best way to tackle this journey and who knows there might be other lands they can explore while they are traveling too. They soon came to conclusion of the main route they will be taking so the teens decided to head to their huts and get some sleep but as everyone left astrid and dagur had stayed at the door for a moment talking with hiccup for a moment, dagur said " I cant believe we'll be traveling outside the archipelago this is unreal and we'll be doing it together as well" astrid followed up " yeah I still can't believe this is real" hiccup looked to them both " yeah but thanks for having my back through all this mess" astrid lightly slugged him in the arm" we wouldn't have it any other way" dagur put a hand on hiccups shoulder " same here H we're basically family at this point" dagur left for his hutt as astrid hugged hiccup one last time before leaving, hiccup watched them leave for a moment and went inside to get some sleep.
About 30 minutes later
Dagur soon entered his home and he noticed his father sitting at a table with a somewhat serious face. Dagur soon asked "everything alright dad" Oswald looked up "son I'd like to speak with you if you wouldn't mind taking a seat" dagur soon sat in the other chair Oswald took a deep breath and continued. "with you traveling with hiccup and his friends I think its time you learned of a secret me and your mother had kept from you" dagur looked curious and surprised at the same time he didn't think him and mom had hid something from him though he wasn't sure how to feel since his mother left a few years into his life he never really knew her as well as his dad but Oswald continued. "now dagur I'm not proud of holding this from but your mother thought it be the best course of action" dagur noticed his father was hurting talking about this so he commented" dad whatever it is I'll understand you have had my back and to be honest you put up with my very unusual thought process I mean must I go through some quotes you have said ' dagur be careful with that barrel, dagur why are you holding that axe like that, dagur why am I being told there are flying cats landing in the great hall' " they both chuckled at some of the antics dagur got into Oswald remembered all that he pulled it made him feel a little better that his son had felt that way towards him and boldened him to tell his son." You see dagur before your mother left we had talked about having another child so you wouldn't be an only child so we tried for another child we had a beautiful daughter we decided we would name her heather, she would probably be two years younger than you now" dagur was shocked beyond belief, he had a sister and he never knew " so what happened to my sister" Oswald looked at his son and spoke " you see when your mother had left she felt it best to take your sister with her said she didn't want our daughter to be around a group of people who would raid other tribes or villages" dagur was confused about that since the time he was alive his father never once tried to raid other tribes" you might not know about this history son and that might have been of my neglect of the old ways but before you were born the berserker tribe was less than a tribe but conglomerate of different raiding groups we had an agreement to settle on an island to store our riches soon after we settled the war on the dragons began to heat up and for decades we stayed to defend our new home as chiefs had taken power and died off we were more focused on making amends with other tribes seeing we need all the help we could get against the dragons but when I took power and I had married your mother the elders spoke many times wether we should return to raiding other tribes some said we were becoming weak and wanted to return to the glory days of the berserkers raiding the archipelago me and your mother stood against it but your mother decided to take your sister with her" dagur then spoke the question that his father knew was coming " so where is mom and my sister" he chuckled knowing what the riders were planning. " you see dagur I've kept tabs on your mother since she had left she went around the world from my guess because everytime I inquired about her I found out she was somewhere new" dagur looked on as the next words came out of oswalds mouth " the last time I heard about your mother was in rome she seems to have taken up residence in the capitol of the roman empire"
And there's the new chapter I hope you enjoyed this chapter I don't have much to talk about so I'm gonna just say sorry for the long wait in all honesty I might have put too many projects on myself at once so some are suffering more than others so I'm working on the story when I get a chance.
