CHAPTER ONE
(Chapter Title - Changing Lives)

Fifteen-year-old Lily Aldrin looked out the window of her parents' car as they drove her to Singing Hills Theater Camp where she would spend three wonderful months with her best friends Robin, Ted and Barney, along with her boyfriend Marshall.

I wonder what musical we're doing this year Lily thought as she listened to the latest Green Day album as her mother pulled into the driveway of the camp. She turned off her music and adjusted her shoulder bag.

"I hope you have fun, sweetie" Mrs. Aldrin said as Lily got out of the car, "I'll see you on Opening Night."

"See you on Opening Night" Lily said, getting her bright green suitcase from the trunk and walked to where a brunette woman councilor in a red shirt and jeans was standing. She held a clipboard in her hands.

"Hello sweetie" the woman greeted Lily kindly, "what's your name?"

"I'm Lily Aldrin" Lily said.

"You're in the SIX cabin. Your roommates should be in there already. For your meals, you and your cabin mates will be at the Lin-Manuel Miranda table" the woman said, "go ahead and get settled. I'll see you for dinner in a couple hours."

"Thank you" Lily said and headed for the SIX cabin.

There were twelve long cabins on either side of the pathway, six on one side, six on the other.

Beyond the cabins were a large lake for swimming, kayaking canoeing, a stable full of horses, an archery range various hiking trails. There was also a large mess hall that was situated on a hill.

To the left of the mess hall, was a large outdoor stage with wooden benches. There was also a shelter just in case it rained.

Lily entered the SIX cabin and smiled as she saw her best friend, Robin.

Inside the cabin, were six beds - three on one side and three on the other. All of them had each Queen from the musical SIX on them - Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard & Catherine Parr. The beds were comfortable and each bed set was the Queen's dress, making it look like the person sleeping in the bed was wearing the outfit of the Queen. On the pillow was the name of each camper - Lily was Catherine of Aragon.

"Hey girl" Lily greeted.

Robin looked over and squealed before hugging Lily.

"It's so good to see you! When did you get here?" Robin asked.

"About five minutes ago. You?" Lily asked, going to the Catherine of Aragon bed and began unpacking.

"An hour ago. We have some new roommates - this is Phoebe Buffay, Monica Geller and Rachel Greene. They're also from Manhattan" Robin said, sitting on the Anne Boleyn bed.

Lily looked over and smiled at the blonde and two brunette girls, "it's nice to meet you guys. I'm Lily."

"I feel like I know you already - Robin would not shut up about you" one of the brunettes - Rachel said.

Lily beamed, "all good things, I hope."

"Nothing but good things" Phoebe the blonde said, smiling.

"So, what's your favorite musical?" Monica asked, sitting on the Jane Seymour bed.

"American Idiot" Lily said, "I've seen it at least ten times."

"That's the Green Day jukebox musical, right?" Phoebe asked, watching Lily hang up an autographed poster of American Idiot.

"Yup" Lily said, "I'm gonna go look for my boyfriend. I'll see you guys at the Mess Hall, okay?"

"Okay. Tell Marshall I said 'hello'" Robin said.

"I will" Lily said, turning to Monica, Phoebe and Rachel, "it was nice to meet you guys."

"You too, honey" Rachel said, sitting on her bed, which was Anna of Cleves.

Lily exited the SIX cabin and pulled out her phone to text Marshall, 'hey I'm here. What cabin are you in?'

Two minutes later, Lily received a text from Marshall.

I'm in the Hamilton cabin, but the guys and I are at the lake. Feel free to join us, if you want, otherwise I'll see you in the mess hall

I think I'm gonna go to the stables and see which horse I'm riding this year Lily texted, heading to the stables.

Another counselor in a red shirt and jeans smiled at her, "I'm about to bring the horses in for the day. I could use some help. You up for it?"

Lily nodded, "I actually signed up for lessons when I'm not participating in theater activities, I'm here, or down at the lake."

"Do you know which horse you're riding?" The counselor asked, handing Lily a lead rope and a halter. The halter had the name Question Mark on the side on a silver name plate.

Lily shook her head and followed the counselor to a large paddock that held at least twenty-five horses of various shapes and colors.

"When we're done here, check the clipboard by the door - the names are listed alphabetically by last name" the counselor said, "I'm Meg, by the way."

"Lily" Lily said.

Meg smiled and whistled loudly, "COME ON GUYS! COME INSIDE!" She yelled.

Lily covered her ears, but lowered her hands as the horses ran towards them, rearing and pushing against the gate. Within minutes, Lily and Meg got all the horses into their stalls and got them dinner.

Lily said goodbye to Meg and checked the clipboard by the barn door, smiling as she saw her name, seeing she was riding Splash. She went to find Splash's stall and looked at the horse inside the large box stall.

Splash currently had her back to the door. She stood about 16.7 hands at the withers and had large brown and white splotches all over her body. Her mane and tail were a mix of brown and white.

"Hi pretty girl" Lily said softly, leaning against the door, smiling at the horse.

Ever since she was a little girl, she had always loved horses. She could never afford lessons, but for one summer, she got to volunteer at a dude ranch and was assigned a brown horse named Bud. He was stubborn, but lovable.

Splash looked up from eating and turned around to see Lily, looking at the girl with brown eyes and long eyelashes.

"You're beautiful. I can't wait to ride you" Lily said, holding out her hand for Splash to sniff.

Splash snorted on Lily's hand, making her laugh.

Lily gently patted Splash's shoulder and exited the barn. She made a quick stop at the bathroom to wash her hands and headed up to the Mess Hall with the other campers, who were all talking and laughing in either large or small groups.

"LILY! OVER HERE!" Rachel called as Lily entered the Mess Hall, waving from a large round table that had a picture of Lin-Manuel Miranda on it.

Lily squealed and headed over to the table, which had Rachel, Phoebe, Robin and two other girls at the table that Lily didn't recognize.

One girl was African-American with black curly hair, brown eyes and a kind smile. She introduced herself as Savanna.

The other girl had frizzy red hair that fell to her shoulders, milk-white skin, green eyes and freckles. Her name was Mollie.

Savanna was in the SIX cabin and Mollie was in the RENT cabin.

The campers got dinner and returned to their seats, chatting with each other until a woman with long brunette hair and a balding man came to the front of the Mess Hall where a mic was set up. The woman also had a small baby bump.

"Hello Campers!" The woman said into the mic, "can I have everyone's attention please?"

The chatter from the tables quieted as everyone turned their eyes to the woman.

"Thank you. Welcome to the first night at Singing Hills Theater Camp. I hope you have a fun three months with your friends, old and new. My name is Ruby Thomas and this is my husband Ian Thomas. We've both been on Broadway in major and minor shows. In four months, a new star will be here - I'm expecting our first baby" Ruby said.

The campers applauded and let out a chorus of 'awws' before Ruby silenced them.

"A few rules - lights off is at ten PM and wake up call is at 7 AM. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10:30 AM, lunch is at 2 PM and dinner is at 7 PM. No cell phones when you're in the workshops.

Twice a week, those who want to will go into the nearby town for dinner, theater trivia of course theater karaoke. There's a sign up sheet near the dessert table.

When you're not in your workshops, you're more than welcome to swim, do archery, hike or ride horses, or hang out in your cabins. Just no persons of the opposite sex in your cabin with you.

Your second week of camp, the musical will be announced and auditions will be a couple days after that. For your musical audition, you may sing whatever your heart desires. The cast list will be posted a couple days after the auditions. We'll go right into a table read and rehearsals after that" Ruby said, standing aside to let Ian speak.

"The theater workshops this year - Improv, Shakespeare, Dance, Theater Games, Theater History, Musical Theater History and Stage Combat. Feel free to take any and all the classes. There will be a red star if the class is full and a yellow circle if there's room in the class. The first class starts right after breakfast at 10:45 and the final class is at 6:15. All the workshops are within walking distance of each other, either five to ten minutes.

Like Ruby said, when you're not in workshops, feel free to explore the hiking trails, ride horses, swim, kayak or canoe.

If you run into any problems, get in contact with a counselor wearing either a green or red T-shirt. They are always happy to help, no matter the situation.

Tomorrow will be here before we know it, so have your dinners then go to your cabins" Ian said.

The campers applauded and turned their attentions to their dinners, talking and laughing with their friends.

After dinner, Lily and Marshall walked together, along with Monica and Chandler. Marshall and Chandler began chatting at dinner were now friends.

Barney and Joey were working together to pick up girls.

"How ya doin'?" Joey asked Savanna, wiggling his eyebrows up and down.

Savanna rolled her eyes and headed in the direction of the SIX cabin.

Barney grabbed his friend Ted and went to a girl nearby, "have ya met Ted?"

Ted waved awkwardly at the girl and frowned as she laughed in his face before heading to her cabin with her friends.

As Lily got ready for bed, she was excited to start theater camp. She got into bed and held her stuffed octopus before getting comfortable and falling asleep, wondering what the following day would bring.
