Summary
What if we weren't given the true story of Dino Thunder? What if Kimberly was in the actual series with Tommy? When they become rangers again, they are forced to make difficult decisions. Now, they must mentor a team of their own and face the challenges that lie ahead of them.
The decisions that we make should come from our sense of empathy and a creative view. But, at the same time we need to combine logic thinking as well. So, when we make decisions in this regard, our choices are better. Things like this are usually in regards to what we want to do in life. Many struggle with deciding about what college they want to go to and what they want to major in. For Kimberly Hart, it was a totally different story. She decided to come to Florida to train for the Pan Global Games. She had spent a lot of time practicing for tournaments in Angel Grove. But, it was different at Gunther Schmidt's Gymnastics Facility. He weighted all the girls every day and would tell them how many pounds they needed to loose. They had to practice at least for 40 hours a week. Usually, she returned to her dorm at 9:30 each night. But, lately she couldn't concentrate. She was missing her friends in Angel Grove. Especially, Tommy Oliver, the love of her life. Coach Schmidt noticed she wasn't as focused. He gave her a choice. She had 48 hours to decide if she was going to stay or she could leave. There was a catch if she stayed. If she stayed, she had to break up with Tommy. He sent her back to her dorm and was told to stay there until she made the decision.
As much as she wanted to continue the Pan Global Games, she couldn't. She knew in her heart Tommy was person that she was meant to spend her life with. And being in Florida made her realize it even more. For years her mother told her, "When you meet the person you are meant to be with, you will know." It was saying she often got tired of hearing. She had no idea how accurate that statement was until she met Tommy. She made her decision. She was going home. Kimberly got out her pink pen and started to write.
Dear Tommy,
This is going to be the hardest letter that I have ever had to write. Things in Florida aren't going so good. We are having long hours of training every day. When I return to my room, I collapse on the bed and don't wake up until the next morning. Coach Schmidt has told me I am too fat and need to loose 20 pounds. He says I need to be thinner so I can be more faster. The last few days, I have been throwing up meals. I am afraid that I could be developing an eating disorder. I have been talking about you a lot with my roomate. Coach Schmidt has told me I have to choose if I am going to stay or come home. If I stay, I have to break up with you.
Kimberly's eyes got heavy as she continued to write. Before, she could finish writing, her head landed on top of the piece of paper. She didn't even hear the phone ring.
"Hey Beautiful, it's Tommy. How are you doing? I know practice must be taking up a lot of your time. I just wanted to talk with you for a little bit. I have really been missing you. I am thinking about coming to spend my fall break with you. And when you compete in the Pan Global Games, I will be coming to watch you compete. Always remember that I love you."
That night she packed up all her stuff and would be flying back to Angel Grove. She sent the letter first class. She wanted Tommy to get the letter the following day. However, she didn't send it to his house. But, the youth center. She had called Jan Oliver since she knew she was off work on Thursdays. Kimberly told Jan what was going on and what her decision was. Jan invited her to stay with them. She was going to tell Tommy. But, Kimberly asked her not to. She wanted to surprise him. Jan knew Tommy was going to be thrilled because he had be saying he wanted to spend his birthday weekend with her.
The following morning, Kimberly boarded the plane. She knew in her heart it was time for her to leave Florida for good. Everything that was going on inside of her during those long months were difficult and even painful. Kimberly knew she had to protect her relationship with Tommy, her physical and mental health, and well being. Ever since she arrived in Florida, she wished that Tommy was there to walk with her through the storms. Although she tried to walk through it alone, she knew that if she stayed she'd regret it. She also knew she would more than like develope eating disorders. So, she was taking this time to rebuild a better version of herself, "Kimberly Hart 2.0," and she was going to focus on her friends who loved her and treated her well.
"Tommy, maybe you read the rest of the letter yourself," Adam suggest as he handed him the letter. "There is something you really need to see."
Tommy, I knew I could have called you. But, I just couldn't do it. I know I would have worried you. So, I made the decision what was best for both of us. I am coming home. I called your mom and told her what was going on. She invited me to stay with at your house. She is getting the guest room ready and she really wanted to tell you about this. But, I told her that I wanted to surprise you. I know you have been wanting to spend your birthday weekend with me and know it is going to happen.
I hope you aren't disappointed in my decision. I know you wanted me to follow me dream. But, I just couldn't hurt you. You are my best friend, the most loyal, kind, and caring person that I have ever met. I think I love you even more than the day I left Angel Grove. I know my real dream was right in front of me the whole time. My plane will be arriving in Angel Grove tommorrow at noon. I can't wait to see you.
Love,
Kimberly
"She's coming home!" Tommy bubble as a smile appeared on his face. He look uo at the clock and it was 11:45. "I have to be at the airport in 15 minutes!"
Tommy arrived at the airport full of joy and a healed heart. Up until this point, he was missing Kimberly like crazy. He trusted her completely. But, in the back of his mind, he knew there was a good chance she could meet some one else. He had worried about what was becoming of their relationship. They always missed each other's calls or had to cut the conversation short. When he called her, She usually had to go train or he got the answering machine. And when she called her, he wasn't home or his communicator was going off. However, this phase was coming to a close. And contining their relationship was a sure thing. They could go on dates again. She would be spending every day and holidays with him. They could hang out at school again.
He stood at the window and saw Kimberly getting off the plane. Was his eyes playing tricks on him? She looked more beautiful than the day she left. Kimberly was dressed in a pink satin tracksuit. His heart raced as she got closer and closer to him.
"KIMBERLY!" Tommy cried out.
Kimberly broke off in a run and let her bag slide off her shoulder as she jumped into his arms. She felt her body melt into his. His hands were folded around her back, drawing her closer. Both of them felt each other's body shake as Kimberly started to cry. Several months that they would never get back.
"Beautiful, I had no idea that you weren't happy in Florida," Tommy said as he continued to squeeze her tightly. "But, I am glad that you are home."
When she kissed him it was sweet, gentle, and tasted of her tears. Kimberly wanted to speak. But all she could do was croak, "I am never going to leave you again." Tommy's mouth painted a soft smile as he folded her in his arms again.
Author's note:
I have had this story planned for close to 6 years, if not longer. I decided to go on and upload the first chapter. I will be working on this from time to time, while I am finishing up a Different Legacy. Then I will be focusing on this story.
