In the Ravines of Time Natsu Dragneel lands the final blow on Acnologia with the help of the other Dragon Slayers. However while they return to their Guilds Natsu is too weak to make the journey. As he floats, dying from Magic Drain but happy knowing his family is safe, the specter of Igneel appears with an offer. Die in peace, knowing his adventure was at an end, or start anew.

Before Natsu and Wendy can return home from Edolas, their trip is cut short by a strange magic that causes them to end up in a new land called Alagaesia, where they meet a young man named Eragon.
