Torrance Residence
Having come back from her little Christmas shopping, Helen arrived to her trailer abode and opened the front door to enter into her home, however just as she stepped inside her trailer home, her eyesight spotted a few things; Once again her son had gone overboard and bought her an overwhelming amount of presents and had them stacked like a mountain around the christmas tree, the other thing she saw was Ricky in the midst of putting on a pair of snow trousers.
The teen stood stock still with a surprised look on his face towards her, "uh…your home early." he commented.
Placing the gift bags aside for later to wrap the contents inside up with christmas wrapping paper, Helen crossed her arms and tapped her foot expectantly. "And you're going out again to do more side jobs, aren't you?" she inquired with an annoyed look on her face.
"...In my defense, it'll only take an hour." Ricky defended himself with an embarrassed face.
"Ricky." Helen sighed, "you can't keep doing this, it's Christmas eve, you're becoming a work-o-holic." She accused her son.
Ricky laughed nervously as he glanced to the side, still halfway in putting on his snow trousers, "...cannon." he muttered a bit.
"Speak up!" Helen Narrowed her eyes at her son, her arms still crossed while tapping her foot.
Ricky clenched his eyes as he spoke up more clearly, "I'm going out to deliver packages with a cannon!" he said, before peeking an eye open, only to see his mom storm over and grab him by the ear. "Aaahh!" he yelled as his mom dragged him to the kitchen table, and forced him to sit down.
"I just got off from work, and went to do some last minute Christmas shopping!" she yelled in irritation, and began washing her hands at the Kitchen sink, "I'm not about to see my son work late at night on Christmas Eve!" she chided her son.
"But." Ricky sat up on the chair he was forced to sit on and gave his mom a pleading look, "Cannons! Nutcracker music! Shenanigans!" he listed off while throwing his hands up in an exaggerated show of his excitement.
"No." Helen said forcefully as she went to work on making some dinner.
"But-" Ricky tried to reason more with his mom, only to earn a thrown pan to collide into his face in response. Reaching up to pull the pan off his cartoonishly flattened face from getting a pan thrown into it, Ricky's face returned to normal as he tossed the cooking pan aside.
Figuring any further attempts to try and plead with his mom would earn her ire any further, Ricky opted to silently slip down out of his chair, and sneak from out under the table to steadily open a window while his mother was busy with washing a few dishes to use to cook with. Just as Ricky was about to open a window, a butcher's knife found its way thrown into the wall next to the window that Ricky was about to climb out through.
Peering steadily over his shoulder to look back at his mom, Helen was calmly drying off some dishes before taking a clean cookware to begin making some christmas dinner; Ricky's eyes went from the butcher's knife, to the knife holder that on the far end of the kitchen counter, just out of reach of his mother. Somehow, his mom was quicker than he thought she was…then again, he was in a cartoon world, so anything is possible.
"Uh, just opening a window to let some cool air in! Yeah!" Ricky explained to his mom as he stepped away from the window in his failed attempt in Christmas hijinks.
Helen turned her head as she pulled out a ready to cook ham from out of the fridge, and placed it in a cooking pot to cook it in the oven. Ricky's mom smiled innocently as she placed the ham in the oven, "The temperature is fine the way it is." she said to her son as she shut the ham in the oven and dialed the oven on to cook.
As his mom went back to cooking a nice meal for the two of them, Ricky grumply marched his way to the couch and sat while the television aired a Christmas movie.
Attempt number 2
Beneath the trailer, a set of eyes are seen blinking in the inky darkness of the underside of the trailer home; it was Ricky, as he managed to sneak through a bottom panel of the floor and out into the underside of the abode he and his mom live in. As Ricky crawled towards the nearest exit of the underside, Helen in a pair of snow boots can be seen walking out of her home, and walking around, causing Ricky to halt in his sneaking.
Ricky began to sweat nervously as his mom stopped where he was about to exit out from, and leaned down to give him a shining smile. "You finished down there?" she asked him as she shined a flashlight on him.
Blinking his eyes in the light, Ricky laughed nervously as he glanced around before grabbing a stray cat that hissed as he grabbed it by the scruff of its neck, "Found scruffy the trailer cat! Was trying to figure out what that scratching noise was!" he half lied, in earnest he actually was curious what was causing the noise that gave him the idea to sneak from out beneath the trailer.
Helen cooed at the Cat, and reached out as the cat clawed at Ricky's face, and scrambled into Helen's arm while leaving Ricky with a scratched up face. "Well now that you found the source, let's take scruffy in and let him enjoy a warm Christmas night." she said with an innocent smile at Ricky.
"Right." Ricky sighed as he crawled out from beneath the trailer, and followed his mom back inside with scruffy the cat in his mother's arm.
Attempt number 3
Silently opening the door of his work truck, Ricky slowly gets in while keeping an eye on the front door of his trailer home; as the teen slowly and silently closes the door once he gets into his vehicle, the door clicks shut, allowing Ricky to let out a breath of relief.
"Ham is done, but we need to stop by the store to pick up some instant mash potatoes and stuffing while the ham cools." Helen said in a disappointed tone while sitting in the passenger's seat of Ricky's truck, in her lap was her purse as she wore her winter coat.
"Bwah!" Ricky yelled in surprise as he pushed himself up against the door and window, all the while his mom reached over to start the truck up and pointed towards the exit of the trailer park. Ricky nodded quickly, before putting his truck into drive and drove off with his mother to the nearest convenient store.
Attempt Number 4
Having finished with their christmas dinner, Helen had her son take them to Dimmsdale's downtown to watch the lighting of the community's Christmas tree; Right now, both are seen standing amongst a large crowd as everyone 'oohs' and 'awes' at the spectacle.
While his mom was preoccupied with looking at the Christmas lights, Ricky slipped away after placing a dummy figure of himself in his place, and rushed to escape to do a last minute side job before the night was over. Just as Ricky walked past an open stall vendor that sold gingerbread men, Helen could be seen at the stall already, as she turned around with a smile on her face and handed out a gingerbread man to Ricky. "Tis the season!"
Ricky snapped his finger in disappointment and accepted the treat, "Tis the season." he moped.
Later
With all the festivities over, and the two return to home, Helen yawned as she made her way to her room, "See you in the morning, don't stay up too late."
"Night mom." Ricky simply replied back as he sat back on the couch, he gave her a kindly wave as she shut the door behind her once she entered her room.
As Norm poofed into existence to sit on the couch as well, he gave Ricky an amused look, "Do you two do that entire shtick on purpose?" he asked.
Ricky shrugged at Norm with an amused smile of his own, "It kinda helps the dour mood during Christmas." he responded back.
"What dour mood?" Norm asked with a confused look.
"Notice anyone missing in this family unit?" Ricky gave the Genie a raised eyebrow.
"...Oh." Norm nodded in understanding.
