Chapter 270

Rowan returned from Hawaii to a very angry older brother. Three days, he had shouted at her. Three days in Hawaii with the chance of Steven finding her and using her to lure Wo Fat in. Though he was ranting and raving about how stupid she was to get her and her powers involved in one of Steve's cases, she couldn't help but be touched. To think that a man like Wo Fat would actually fly to Hawaii to try and get her back from his nemesis, Steven McGarrett, was so sweet. He actually thought about it, and in he decided he'd give himself up if it got her back. No one had ever loved her that much, not even Steven.

But that warm gooey feeling left the second that Wo Fat told her that she was grounded. No more messing with Gabriel, no more jumping into the void, no more going anywhere unsupervised. She was on lock down for the rest of the trip through British Isles.

That was a problem because Harry Ford wanted to take her to the Hampton Court Palace and she wanted to go with him. Which was not going to happen if Conejo was hovering around her. It wouldn't be romantic, and since Conejo had this crazy theory that Harry was law enforcement and not an accountant, she knew there wouldn't be any way that he'd be nice to him either. He'd just stand there and glare at the man and make them all uncomfortable.

She'd have to drop Conejo back at the hotel, with her powers of course, and that would just make things worse so… really she only had one option.

To drop herself out of the hotel.

Well she hopped. From her bathroom in her suit to the bathroom in the lobby. She told Conejo she wasn't feeling well and that she wanted to sleep, and he said sure. He went into his own room to order room service and not disrupted and once she was certain he was in the room she was gone. Once on the ground floor she rushed outside, as fast as she could in her newest pair of red-bottom heels, to where Harry was waiting for her. He was in this Rolls Royce, it looked vintage it looked really cool, it was a convertible though the grey clouds in the sky meant the top was up.

She would later find out that it was a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud but at that moment she couldn't care less about the car.

Harry smiled warmly at her and she smiled back. He wasn't in a suit that day, no, just suit pants and a hunter green polo shirt, looking a little bit too much like Wo Fat and Steven for her liking but she wasn't about to ask the man to change.

"To the Hampton Court!" he cried and the car leapt forward. Within an hour they were on the open road heading into the country and Rowan was leaning back in the car, he windows down and the wind whipping through her hair, feeling a lot like she was home. In her classic vintage car, with the windows down. If she closed her eyes, she could see the ocean sparkling by her window, and if she squinted her eyes, she could pretend it was Steve behind the wheel of the car.

They drove another hour before they came upon a gravel path and a pair of ornate gates. But Rowan didn't feel right about this. Where was the parking lot? Where were the other tourists? Where the hell had he taken her?

Rowan looked around at everything as the gates slid open. She was in the middle of the country side with no where to run to. No cover to hide under so this wasn't going to end well if this wasn't where they were supposed to be. But when she realized the gate was open, she could see a stately sort of house, lines of cars and what seemed to be a team of people. Maybe it was a party?

"Where exactly are we… this doesn't look like Hampton Court…"

Harry winced at her and the worry hit her again full force, this wasn't good.

Someone rapped on window beside her and Harry pressed a button and the door opened, which was surprising because it was a vintage car. But once the door was unlocked the man on the other side had the door open.

"Rory Wickerby?" he asked.

She looked up at him with an acidic look of displeasure that actually made her brother's proud and the smug grin the man was wearing faltered. "Yes?"

"Step out of the car please."

Rowan shook her head. "I'm not going anywhere with you, I don't even know you."

"You can call me Bryce, now get out of the car, ma'am."

She glanced around at the men spread out behind him, hands to their hips ready to draw a weapon on her. Which was ridiculous because she was unarmed and in a little Prada black dress with frills around the skirt and a pair of stilettos so high she could barely walk in them let alone run.

"No thank you," she said primly. "I'd like to return to the hotel now please." She turned her eyes to Harry who had the good grace to look very uncomfortable. "Take me back now."

"Ma'am, you are officially being detained by MI6 until a time we see fit to release you," Bryce snapped, his badge coming out, Harry followed suit bringing out his own badge and purposely looking past her so he couldn't see the betrayal shining in her eyes.

"MI6" she breathed out, finally putting her hand in Bryce's and letting him pull her out of the car. He tugged her and she teetered on the gravel. "Can you stop tugging me, just let me fix my shoes," she said ripping her arm out of his grasp as she shook her head and stooped down to fix her shoes. "Wow. MI6, I can't believe it… that's just amazing."

Her eyes were wide with anger, and even though he tried to warn Bryce no one was exactly prepared for her hurling a red-bottomed black stiletto at Harry's face with a deadly accuracy.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

Conejo was going to kill her.

He had been telling her for a week now that something was off with Harry Ford and she had laughed him off as paranoid. Well now he was right and if she managed to get out of this, she'd never live this down. Literally, he would never let her forget this.

God, where were her boys? Did they know she had been grabbed yet? Were they on their way? She hoped so, she so terribly wanted to go home, well not home, back to the hotel to pack up and move onto the next leg of her worldwide trip.

The man who arrested her walked back into the room with a file under his arm that made her nervous. Did they know who she really was? Would he call Steven to ask about her? Would he have anything positive to say if they did?

The file was slapped down and pictures spilled out of it. Pictures of her, of Wo Fat and Conejo. Separate, together, surveillance stills. Rowan picked up one of her and forced herself to smile.

"Oh, that's a good one," she said. "Can I keep this?"

He ripped it out of her hand and glared down at her, but Rowan couldn't take this poof a man seriously. With his copperish brown hair side swept like he thought he was audition to be the next Ringo. His suit a tweed creation like he was bucking for a Mr. Bean look alike award.

"This isn't a photo shoot," he snapped at her. "Do you not know what your boyfriends do for a living?"

Wow Boyfriends. Man, this guy did not do the whole background check well. Or Wo Fat's back story that came with her new identity was just that fucking good. Though why the new identity was labeled as their girlfriend was something she'd have to take up with him… or Kong.

"Irrelevant," she shot back, leaning back in her chair, her legs dainty crossed, her arms folded over her chest. "They're both clean now, or at least Wo is, Con has gotten a bit… violent in the name of protecting me from people like… you."

He scoffed at her, a derisive kind of scoff like he knew more than he was letting on. Her eyes narrowed she opened up the file and went through the stacks of pictures he had. Wow… they had a lot of pictures of them

He slapped down a set of six pictures. Three of Wo Fat, Three of Conejo, two of which was of them together. Pictures of Wo Fat with people she had to assume were criminals, pictures of him with guns, another set of him with what was a lot of cocaine. The pictures of Conejo were all bloody, him with guns and bodies and death. The two of them together was a before an after. Before Conejo shot the man kneeling in front of them in the head, and the after where he was cleaning the gun and Wo Fat was just casually smoking.

She recognized the dates. They were all from this week. All of this had happened in England alone.

Well damn, when had they even found the fucking time?

"He didn't go clean, then, I guess?" she murmured. It was a rhetorical question, of course, but the man hovering in front of her felt the need to answer anyway.

"What do you think?"

Rowan scowled at him. "I think my bro…. associate… my business associate is a professional liar…"

"Wait, brother?"

"I clearly said business associate, how are you a spy if you have comprehension issues? I thought they would have weeded the special needs ones out… or promoted you to like director or something."

Bryce hit her with a dark glare. "Fine. Business Associate. You actually expect me to…"

Rowan just huffed at him. "Have you like… not talked to Harry? I told him all about my relationship with Wo Fat."

"He's currently concussed…"

Ah yes, she had thrown a shoe at him, clocked him right between the eyes. "He should have ducked. He's MI6, you're telling me the James-Bond-wanna-be couldn't avoid getting hit with a shoe? Some spy he is," she snapped as the man in front of her picked up a picture of her and Wo Fat waltzing and then a picture of her and Conejo shoulder to shoulder sharing an ice cream cause she didn't want her own.

"Okay. Let's try this again. Wo Fat is my business associate, sometimes he gives me waltzing lessons and Con is my body guard who helped me eat an ice cream because I didn't want my own," she told him. "What part of this is giving you trouble…"

"Well for starters the fact that you have an assassin as a bodyguard."

Well damn how did he know that? "Hey! He's supposed to be retired. He figured following me around and making sure I don't get into shit would be easy," she cried. "But let me tell you he's going to have fun with you guys."

"Is that a threat?"

Rowan ignored him. "Look," she sighed pushing the photos away from herself. "I don't know what my business associate gets up to when I'm not around. This is clear if you actually look at your surveillance photos, because then you maybe would have noticed that I'm not around when either of them do business. You see… I'm here as a tourist, so I'm here to touristy things. Now that we've cleared that up, I'd like to go back to my hotel now."

"You're not going anywhere."

"Why not?" Rowan whined.

"Because we still haven't discussed how you managed to break into the British Museum when you had a hotel room in Victoria."

Rowan blinked her eyes. "What? Are you… are you asking me if I can teleport?" His mouth dropped open to tell her that that wasn't the case at all but Rowan wasn't letting that go. She struggled not to giggle. "Are you telling me that you think that we teleported from Victoria B.C. to London England? Really."

"Okay, okay, shut up," he snapped.

But Rowan shook her head. "Alright, so this can't be just about my apparent teleportation powers. There's something else, I can see it in your eyes. What do you think you're going to get from me, really? Other then two very upset men who you've just proven have access to enough guns and people to storm the fucking fortress?"

"I think I'm going to get exactly that. I'm going to get two very dangerous men, upset enough to try and storm the fortress to rescue you. And we're more than ready for that," he snarled to her.

Oh god she was bait. This was a trap and she was the bait. The agent in front of her smirked as the realization and worry dawned on her face.

Oh she had fucked up.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

Conejo slammed to the door to their suite and bore down on Wo Fat who was fiddling with his cufflinks. He had a big dinner planned, something extravagant for Rowan to make up for grounding her. He had rented out the Hampton Court Palace for the night. They were going to get to dance and eat dinner and walk through the gardens at night. You know, to make up for keeping her from that date with the new guy she had hanging around her.

A guy that Conejo instantly took a disliking to. Thought he was law enforcement. Granted Conejo thought everyone Rowan was interested in was stupid, but he had never actively attempted to "cock-block" her, as Rowan was certain he was doing. Though she called it "Vag-blocking" but that was something that Wo Fat refused to repeat.

The door to his room slammed open and Conejo let himself in without knocking. "Alright I know she's in here, where is she?"

Wo Fat paused in getting ready and turned slowly towards Conejo.

"What?"

"I know what she's doing. Hiding from me to make me nervous, well it's not working. It's making me mad. So where is she hiding? In the closest? In the washroom?"

Wo Fat watched and Conejo paced around the spacious room turning over arm chairs and small tables as if to reveal her. Wo stalked over to him and tapped his shoulder. "Okay, look at me. What the fuck are you talking about?" when Conejo turned to look at him. "Are you telling me you lost Rowan!"

"No, I did not lose Rowan! She was in her room and now she's not in her room…"

"Okay so Rowan's not in her room, and you thought she was in her… I don't know about you, but that sounds a lot like you fucking LOST Rowan."

Conejo blanked. "I mean… I mean she can't be far… right? She can't be…"

"THE GIRL CAN FUCKING TELEPORT SHE COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!"

"DON'T YELL AT ME I'M NOT THE ONE WHO GROUNDED HER!"

Wo took a step back just so he wouldn't slap the shit out of Conejo. "You have one job! One job Con! And it's to WATCH ROWAN! What the fuck am I paying you for?"

"Actually, Rowan's paying me…"

Wo Fat started forward and there must have been a murderous look in his eyes because the great Sin Nombre actually took a step back from him. Luckily, they didn't have to try and figure out who would win in a fight between them because Wo Fat's phone went off. Rowan's text-tone.

Wo Fat lunged for it. After this, once Rowan was back, he was going to handcuff her to him. And only to him as Conejo clearly underestimated her. She had said once, that Steven had grounded her to this reality. Well after this he was pretty sure he was mad enough to ground Rowan to this fucking continent, with rage alone.

If McGarrett could do it, it couldn't really be all that hard.

But the message he got wasn't a coordinate confirmation, it was an SOS.

"She's been arrested by MI6."

For only the briefest of seconds, Conejo was silent and then all that anger that Wo Fat had been feeling seemed to erupt right out of the Spanish man.

"I knew It! I knew he was law enforcement!"

Yes, a lot of good that did them now, because he had no idea where MI6 was holding Rowan. Conejo whirled around going for his own bag, no doubt for his arsenal of weapons.

"I am breaking out the mask!"

God. Wo Fat could literally feel his hair going white. That was it. He was buying handcuffs and she wasn't leaving his sight ever again.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

She was bait. BAIT. Goddamn freaking bait!

Do you know what that meant? It meant that when Wo Fat and Conejo realized what happened, and they would, and they came for her, which they would, they'd be walking into a trap.

But Rowan didn't want that of course and, of course, she wasn't certain she had enough juice in her to jump all the way back to the hotel and she didn't know this place at all. So there was no way she could just open a door to safety and walk herself out. She couldn't stay there though, and if she did leave, which she definitely had to, she'd have to leave her brand new red bottomed heels behind. Couldn't run in them, she could barely walk in them, but they sure were pretty.

So, while she tried to figure out the next move, she paced the little room they had left her in until she couldn't pace any longer. The longer she dithered the more of a chance that these assholes contacted Wo Fat and enticed him to come rescue her.

She looked around again. There were two cameras in the room, one in each corner. They moved when she did but if she went into the back corner by the oldest camera she was certain the other lost vision, or at least it one hundred percent would when she fucked it up.

She knew if she took the chair it would look bad, so instead she just walked over to the camera and then pretended to stretch. It only took one finger and a steady pulse and immediately the camera died. She finished off her stretches so it didn't look too suspicious. Once that was done, she slowly walked over to the other camera. She took three calming breaths, just because she was kind of panicking and she couldn't work the void right when she was panicking.

It took a few more deep breaths while she focused, but once she was calm the strings of the void showed themselves to her. She barely had to think about it. She asked for a door and the void opened up behind her, those familiar red strings waiting to try and tangle her up, but she didn't want to waste her energy so she let them wrap around her and pull her in.

Once in the void she felt infinitely much better. Like it was wrapping her up in a warm reassuring hug, telling her that everything was going to be alright. She sent a soft pulse to get he red strings off of her and then focused her attention on a safe place, preferably where ever her phone was. And luckily the void answered her.

A single string came towards her all white and clearly a safe space to go to. She could save that for later, she looked towards the other strings, wondering how her brothers were. Two light pink strings blinking navy blue streaks of worry. Okay, so both of them knew she was taken. They looked to both still be at the hotel too. Great so she had time.

Already she saw red strings coiling close to her the pink ones that would lead to her brothers, ready to lend their power if she chose to jump that far. But she knew doing so would hurt Steven, and even if he had married Catherine and broken her heart, she didn't want to hurt him.

Then she looked at all her other options. A closet by an exit door, the room with her purse and phone that was currently vacated, and the currently empty garage where Harry's Rolls Royce was parked.

Getting out by the exit wouldn't help her, she didn't know where she was. She was going to need the car, but she also needed her purse and her phone. Especially if she wanted to get a hold of Wo Fat to stop him from coming looking for her.

So, she took the white string to an empty control room where her purse was just hanging out on its own. Well that was either dumb or a trap. But the string was white and white strings meant safety so, not a trap. She grabbed her purse and rifled through it until she got a hold of her phone. She texted Wo the situation, she didn't even bother to mention not to worry because she knew he would, probably already was.

She sent off the text and an alarm began to blare. What? Had they only just noticed her missing now? What were the cameras dummy's?

She was about to jump when Wo Fat responded to her text. He wanted a location. Well that's all the text said: location. Except she didn't quite know where she was. She shot of a quick response before she hopped back into the void and then looked back around at her options. Garage with the car was slowly becoming not an option so if she wanted a get-away vehicle, which she definitely wanted, she would have to leave now.

It took one hop to drop her into the garage coincidentally right by the Rolls Royce. And it even had a wonderful silver grill on the front she could use to ram things. Aw this was going to be great.

She hopped into the passenger side of the car and threw herself down under the steering wheel. It took a lot of prying, she broke two nails before she got the under cover off and got to the wires underneath. She picked the right ones and sparked the car up, of course it took three attempts to get the car started and then when she did, and she was sitting up she could see that the car was surrounded.

Well… it was a little too late to stop her now.

She revved the car, watching the men try to encircle her, oh yeah, they had no idea that she was a racer. It took literally nothing to put the car in the right gear and peel out. Right into a donut that had all the men around the car diving o get out of the way and then she sped right out of the garage and out onto the gravel path. They hadn't even locked down the front gates, why were these people so… bad at this…

It wasn't until she got out onto the road that she realized that this all could very much be a trap. Were they expecting her to lead them straight to Wo Fat. She checked the rear-view mirror and sure enough she had a fleet of Bentley's following after her. Goddamn it, that escape really had been too easy.

God what was she going to do? She couldn't rally race them all the way back to the hotel, she didn't know the roads she was bound to get lost. She pulsed a little energy into the void and got back a push, no, no, she was running out of power.

The last time she had tried to tuck and roll out of a moving car while also voiding, it had ended badly. Now she was twice as panicked and running low on power, this was not the time to make major mistakes. She looked at her options again. There was no cover coming so she couldn't stop the car to void as the fleet of cars behind her would see, and she had to keep her powers hidden. She didn't know where the next town was so what other options did she have other than to…. She could… could she void a car?

She could void a whole suitcase, she had always managed to void with her phone or purse, or Conejo's bags of weapons, but she had never tried something as big as a car before.

A bend in the road was coming, she was far enough a head to know that if she turned they'd loose sight of her, she didn't know when that would happen again so she was going to have to try and the if she didn't… maybe call Wo and hope to god that he was on his way even though he had no idea where she was.

She focused all her energy on breathing, she knew that this was going to hurt, it always hurt to pull right from the void, but she couldn't worry about that right now. When she opened her eyes, she was ready, she put the car in the right gear and started to shift it into the drift, once the car was in position Rowan pulled from the void thinking of the hotel's parking garage and the Audi Wo Fat had rented. She felt the electric burst through the skin of her arms, once again ripping her open, she felt the void open and respond to her as the car slid into the portal she had just opened.

The fleet of MI6 Bentleys turned the corner to a cloud of dust and to find that the Rolls Royce they had been chasing was missing. And somewhere in Hawaii Steven McGarrett collapsed, clutching his chest.
