It was a rare evening of leisure at Jonathan Crane's apartment. The usually dim living room was alight with the glow of a massive television screen, casting vibrant hues of explosions and pixelated landscapes across the walls. Jonathan, clad in his usual casual hoodie and jeans, was busy setting up the controllers, while his boyfriend Jervis Tetch sat cross-legged on the couch, looking at the screen with a mix of curiosity and skepticism.

"Are you certain, my dear Jonathan, that this contraption is suitable for an evening of intellectual engagement?" Jervis asked, adjusting his bowtie and tilting his head at the game console like it was a peculiar riddle.

Jonathan grinned. "Trust me, Jervis, you're gonna love this. Video games are a great way to unwind. Besides, Edward's a pro at these, and Jon could use some fun."

Jonathan Crane, sitting stiffly in the armchair with his lanky frame folded into a slightly awkward posture, raised an eyebrow. "I fail to see how pressing buttons repeatedly constitutes entertainment," he muttered, glancing toward Edward Nigma, who was already leaning forward eagerly, controller in hand.

"It's not just pressing buttons, Jonathan," Edward retorted with a smirk. "It's strategy, skill, and a little bit of mind-reading. You know, things you should excel at. Let's see if that genius brain of yours can keep up."

Jervis clapped his hands together, his curiosity piqued. "Well, if Edward is confident, perhaps there is some merit to this pastime after all. What is the objective of this… colorful chaos on the screen?"

Jonathan finished assigning teams on the game's menu and tossed a controller to Jervis. "It's simple. We're playing a four-player battle royale. You and I are on a team, and Edward and Jonathan are on the other. Just follow my lead, and we'll wipe the floor with them."

Edward cackled. "Bold words, Jonathan. Let's see if you can back them up."

The match began, and chaos erupted. Jervis, despite Jonathan's patient instructions, had difficulty navigating his character. His on-screen avatar spun in circles, much to Edward's amusement. "Jervis, stop spinning and aim!" Jonathan cried, stifling a laugh.

Jonathan, surprisingly, was just as hopeless. His avatar kept walking off ledges, and his grumbling grew louder with each respawn. "This is utterly pointless," he muttered, his usual composed demeanor beginning to crack.

Edward, however, was in his element. His character darted around the map, expertly taking out targets. "Headshot! Another one bites the dust!" he crowed as Jervis's avatar collapsed on screen.

"I say, that was uncalled for," Jervis huffed, adjusting his hat in irritation. "Jonathan, what does this button do?"

"That's the attack button. Use it to fight back!" Jonathan encouraged, trying to fend off Edward's relentless attacks on his own.

After several rounds of flailing, falling, and shouting, the final match was underway. To everyone's shock, Jervis managed to eliminate Edward with a surprise move.

"By the Queen's corset, I did it!" Jervis exclaimed, beaming with pride.

Jonathan high-fived him. "See? You're a natural, babe!"

Edward sat back, stunned. "Beginner's luck," he muttered, though there was a glimmer of respect in his eyes.

Jonathan set his controller down and sighed. "I think I'll leave this to you three. Clearly, this is not my field of expertise."

Jervis tilted his head and smiled. "Perhaps not, Jonathan, but you must admit, it's rather delightful to engage in such nonsensical pursuits every now and then."

Edward chuckled. "And, of course, it's delightful for me to win."

Jonathan shook his head with a laugh, pulling Jervis close. "We'll see about that next time, Ed. Jervis and I are just getting started."

As the night went on, the laughter, light-hearted arguments, and shared triumphs filled the room, proving that even the most unlikely group could find common ground—even if it involved a lot of button-mashing.
