Hisana and Ayame were seated in the cozy lounge room of the inner palace, Surrounded by the luxurious yet comfortable furnishings of the Utsunomiya castle. Ayame had a solemn look on her face as she spoke to Hisana, Who looked uncertain and hesitant.

With a flick of her wrist, Ayame offered her drinks and snacks. In turn, Hisana fidgeted with a handkerchief in her lap, her thoughts swirling in her head. Ayame could see that Hisana was struggling to speak, And she placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "What is it, Hisana? What's troubling you?" she asked, Her voice soft and caring.

Hisana looked up at Ayame, her eyes full of uncertainty. "Thank you soo much for the resources you have given me... I've been searching for Rukia for years... I just..." She trailed off, Biting her lip uncertainly.

Ayame waited for Hisana to continue, Her hand still resting gently on her shoulder. She could sense that there was more to Hisana's hesitation than just worry for her sister.

Hisana took a deep breath, Her eyes falling to the handkerchief in her lap. "It's just..."

Ayame's expression softened, Her hand squeezing gently on Hisana's shoulder. "Hisana, You have to do what's best for you and your sister. The rukongai is no place for a child soul... I've heard through the years of souls who randomly disappeared before their time to part for a new life in the human world, All was left of them were the clothes they were wearing."

Hisana's eyes widened in surprise, Ayame's words hitting her hard. The thought of Rukia experiencing that fate was unbearable. The handkerchief in her lap crumpled under her clenched fist.

Ayame watched as horror and determination warred in Hisana's eyes. "Where... Where did you hear this?" Hisana asked, Her voice trembling.

Ayame hesitated for a moment, Unsure of how much to reveal. But then she sighed and spoke again. "Rumors and whispers from the souls who pass through the seireitei. But for some reason this has largely been ignored by the higher ups because they are highly incompetent when it comes to the concerns of the common human soul. That's why I'm saying you should double down on your efforts."

Hisana nodded slowly, Her mind racing with the implications of what Ayame had said. There was an uncomfortable pause in the conversation before Hisana spoke again, Her voice barely a whisper. "Can I ask you a favor, Ayame? One that is of great importance."

Ayame regarded Hisana with a curious look. "What is it?" She asked, Her voice gentle and open.

Hisana shifted nervously in her seat, Her eyes darting around the room before finally fixing on Ayame. "Can you... Help me search for Rukia?" She asked, Her voice quiet but firm.

Ayame raised an eyebrow, Surprised by Hisana's request. "Help you search? As in, Searching with you?"

Hisana nodded, Her determination growing. "Yes. I know you have resources, The skills and connections in the seireitei. You can help me find Rukia more quickly and safely."

As Ayame listened to Hisana's request, A thought occurred to her. "What about Byakuya?" She asked, Her tone curious yet cautious. "He's also been searching for Rukia, Hasn't he?"

Hisana's expression darkened slightly at the mention of Byakuya. "Yes, He is searching as well. But his resources are limited because he can't take resources from the Kuchiki treasury without approval, And his duties as a seated member of Gotei keep him busy."

Ayame nodded, An understanding look on her face. But then she frowned slightly and tilted her head. "I see..."

As Hisana spoke about Byakuya's resources, Ayame's thoughts began to drift. She knew well the limitations placed on those whose resources were overseen by the clan head, His grandfather Genrei. This train of thought led her to consider what she had at her own disposal, To remember the orphanages she had seen in the human world during a visit to the living realm.

The way humans cared for their young had always struck her as admirable, She

came to know after awhile living with humans of their flaws but also their compensation for good and sympathy. Between the inhabitants of the soul world and the humans in the material world, People from the soul society seemed so primal compared to the latter. If human souls were allowed a better chance in the soul society then maybe things here would improve for Rukon people and Soul society as a whole. And this sparkled an idea in her mind. Ayame glanced over at Hisana, Her gaze thoughtful.

"Well, The rukongai is indeed in need of innovation... We won't find your sister if we chase after her, We must make the girl come to us. I think I can expand the care of the temple of my ancestor Taiyohime to help the lost children of the rukongai." Ayame interjected, Her voice breaking the silence.

Hisana looked at her, Confusion on her face. "The temple of Taiyohime?" She repeated, Her brows furrowing together in confusion.

Ayame nodded, A sense of excitement in her voice. "Yes. It's a place that holds great historical and spiritual significance. It was built and gifted by my ancestors, The place where I was taught by the nuns and grew up in isolation, As the enshrined 'Sacred Heir', It's technically under my jurisdiction."

The idea of transforming the temple into a sanctuary for abandoned children began to take shape in Ayame's mind. It was a place of peace and healing, A place where lost souls could find safety and care. She imagined the temple filled with the laughter of children, A haven where they could grow and thrive.

Ayame turned to Hisana once more, A determined glint in her eyes. "I can work on expanding the temple's resources and reach to accommodate the needs of the Rukon children. We can create a safe haven for them there."

Hisana's eyes widened at the idea, Hope and relief flooding her features. "You would do that?" She asked, Her voice filled with gratitude.

Ayame nodded, Her determination strengthening. "Yes, I'll see to it. As the heir of the temple, It's my duty and responsibility. And with my authority, I can decree that more temples to built through out the rukongai and I can ensure that the temples are equipped to care properly for the lost Rukon children."

Hisana's eyes welled up with tears, Her gratitude overflowing. "Thank you. Thank you so much," She whispered.

Ayame reached out and patted her comfortingly on her shoulder. "There's no need to thank me," She said, Her voice soft. "It's the right thing to do. Those children deserve to have a safe place to call home until they reunite with their families or it becomes their time to return to the human world with a new life."

As the two women sat in comfortable silence after discussing plans, There was a sense of hope in the air. Ayame couldn't help but reflect on the potential impact this new endeavor could bring. She knew it wouldn't resolve the systemic issues within Soul Society that led to children being ignored, Lost or orphaned in the first place, But she hoped that it would at least provide a safer haven for them. And who knows, Maybe in their little corner of the Rukon, They could begin to make a difference one soul at a time.

Ayame looked over at Hisana, Her eyes softened. "Let's continue to work together on this, And not just for Rukia's sake, But for all the innocent souls we can help," She said, Her voice firm yet filled with compassion. "For the children who deserve all the care in the universe."

Hisana, Touched by Ayame's words and determination, Nodded. "Yes, Let's do this," She agreed, A sense of purpose driving her forward.

Ayame smiled, Encouraged by Hisana's resolve. "We will have a lot of work to do, But it won't be an easy task. The temple will need to be expanded, Resources allocated, And care taken to ensure each child is properly cared for."

"We also need to spread the word and bring the children to the temples," Hisana added, Her mind already turning to the logistics of the operation.

Ayame nodded, Already mapping out a plan in her mind. "I have the influence and connections. I'll use every resource at my disposal to make sure this project has the best possible start." She let out a deep sigh, Her expression somber. "Unfortunately, The noble higher ups in the Seireitei will likely view this as an insignificant project with too little benefit for them to bother with, But I'll provide the funding and support we need."

Hisana looked at Ayame, Her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, I'll be in your debt forever with this."

Ayame smiled, Her eyes filled with determination. "No, You don't owe me anything. This is not a favor, It's a responsibility of those who are born in this world and of shinigami."

As the two women continued to discuss their plans, The room was filled with a sense of purpose and hope. They both knew they had a long and difficult road ahead, But the thought of creating a safe haven for the orphaned children of the Rukon was enough to keep them going forward.

Hisana smiled, Her heart swelling with gratitude. "When I find her, I'll come back and let you know."

Ayame stood up as well, Embracing Hisana in a warm hug. "I will do my due diligence as well, Nonetheless, I look forward to hearing from you, Hisana. Stay safe."

Hisana returned the hug, Feeling a sense of warmth and comfort from Ayame's embrace. "I will, Ayame. I promise."

As they pulled apart, Hisana took one last look at Ayame, Feeling a sense of gratitude and determination in her heart. "Thank you again, Lady Ayame."

Hisana stood before Ayame, A look of contemplation on her face. She stopped and sat back down. She couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, As if she didn't truly belong in the luxurious surroundings of the Utsunomiya inner palace.

"Ayame," She began softly, Her voice hesitant, "May I ask you something?"

Ayame looked up at Hisana, Her expression open and curious. "Of course," She replied, Gesturing for Hisana to sit down. "What's on your mind?"

Hisana settled down on the plush cushions, Folding her hands in her lap. "I can't help but feel a sense of guilt, As if I am an intruder..." She said, Her eyes lowering to her hands, "Being here in the palace, Surrounded by such luxury... When I know that Byakuya and you were..." Her voice trailed off, Unable to bring herself to finish the sentence.

Ayame's expression softened in understanding, Her eyes filling with empathy. "Ah, That." She said quietly, A hint of sadness in her voice, "Byakuya and I were once betrothed, Yes."

As Hisana expressed her feelings of guilt, Ayame listened quietly, Her expression becoming more somber. She knew that the subject of her and Byakuya's betrothal was a delicate one. But Ayame had never been one to avoid uncomfortable conversations or difficult truths.

"Yes, We were betrothed," Ayame confirmed, Her voice soft yet firm, "It was decided by our fathers, We were much younger then..."

As she spoke, Ayame couldn't help but remember back to the early days of her betrothal. The endless etiquette classes, The endless fittings for her kimonos, The countless lessons on history and politics. It had been a strange existence, One where her identity was closely tied to that of her betrothed.

"I am the 'Sacred Heir' of my bloodline, and Byakuya was... Well, he is his family's prodigy. We were both expected to fulfill the destinies our fathers had laid out for us," Ayame continued "The betrothal was seen as a way to strengthen the bond between two powerful families, And the bloodline."

Ayame took a deep breath, Her mind flashing back to the countless times she had spent with Byakuya, Studying together, Training together, The countless hours spent in the library discussing the teachings of their ancestors. She had come to know him quite well.

"Over time, We grew accustomed to each other's presence, Even finding comfort in it," She said, Her eyes distant as she spoke, "He was a steady and reliable companion, And I could trust him implicitly."

As Ayame shared her memories, Her eyes never left Hisana's. She remembered the countless conversations they had had, The way they always seemed to understand one another, The way he had been there for her when she was lost in the suffocating world of her upbringing. He had been, At times, Her only ally.

"We knew each other better than anyone, We joined the same squad and partook in dual responsibilities " She continued, A hint of sadness creeping into her voice, Ayame's eyes clouded with memories as she continued her story of their past. "As the wedding day drew closer," She said, Her voice quieter, "We both knew our fate was to marry, And we had resigned ourselves to this fact... Until you came into the picture."

Ayame's eyes were now focused on Hisana, Studying her reaction as she spoke. "When Byakuya met you," She continued, Her voice soft yet filled with a touch of melancholy, "Something in him changed. I could see the way he looked at you, The way he talked about you."

The memory of those days was vivid in Ayame's mind. She remembered the way Byakuya's eyes would light up when Hisana were mentioned, The way his usual calm demeanor changed into something more animated. She had never seen him like that before, Not with anyone else. "He was captivated by you," She said, Her voice betraying the pain of the memory, "He had never been so openly enraptured by anyone else, Not that I had ever seen at least. It was..." Her voice trailed off for a moment, Her lips pressing into a thin line, "It was as if you had awakened something in him that he never knew existed."

Ayame took a moment to control her emotions, The hurt and the resentment that welled up inside her. "As time passed, It became increasingly obvious that Byakuya's feelings for you grew deeper and deeper. He would mention your name continuously, Your absence would cast a shadow on his day, And his gaze would always drift towards you whenever you were in the same room."

Her hands clenched on the fabric of her kimono, Her knuckles turning white. "I tried to ignore it, Tried to convince myself that it was just a passing fancy," She said, Her voice shaking slightly, "But deep down, I knew the truth. He was falling in love with you."

Ayame's eyes flickered down, Her gaze fixed on her clenched hands. "And I... I tried to hate him for it," She confessed, Her voice quieter, "I tried to feel anger, Jealousy, Anything that would make it easier to accept that the man, I loved, I was about to marry was in love with someone else. Instead I felt nothing but deep sadness, A debilitating despair. I just wanted it to end."

"In the end," Ayame said, her tone now quieter, "Byakuya came to me, Confessed everything. He told me he couldn't marry me, That he loved you, And he would never be able to love anyone else."

Ayame closed her eyes briefly, The memory cutting through her heart, The weight of the past bearing down on her. "I remember just... Nodding," She said, Her voice slightly unsteady, "What else was there to do? I couldn't force him to stay, And I couldn't make him love me instead. I was... Resigned."

Hisana's eyes filled with sympathy as she listened to Ayame's words. She knew that the betrothal had not been of their own choosing, But it was still clear how much it had affected Ayame. "I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you," She said, Her voice soft yet filled with sincere empathy. "To be in a situation where you had no control over your own life, And then to have the person you were meant to marry fall for someone else..."

Hisana's gaze was gentle, Searching Ayame's features for any lingering pain. She continues, "If I knew I wouldn't have..."

She interrupted Hisana for a moment, A note of concern in her voice. "But I do have to ask you something... Did Byakuya ever consider your choice in all this?"

Hisana paused at Ayame's question, A look of surprise and confusion on her face. "Choice?" She repeated, A hint of uncertainty in her voice, "What do you mean?"

"It's just..." Ayame continued, Her voice gentle but firm, "Byakuya tends to be quite single-minded when he sets his sights on something. I'm curious if he ever asked you if you even agreed to this arrangement, Or if he merely decided it for both of you."

Hisana's eyes widened at Ayame's words, A look of realization slowly dawning across her face. "Ah..." She began, Her voice filled with a mixture of surprise and understanding. "I... I never thought about it that way..."

She fidgeted nervously, Her fingers playing with the fabric of her kimono. "He never actually..." She began, Her voice trailing off, "He never specifically asked for my opinion on the matter... I guess I assumed it was my duty to go along with it..."

Hisana sat in quiet reflection for a moment, Her mind now racing with this new revelation. "It's just... The way it was presented to me," She continued, Her voice thoughtful, "Everyone acted as though my agreement was irrelevant, That it had already been decided. I never really..."

She paused, Looking up at Ayame with a mixture of confusion and vulnerability. "I never really questioned it..."

Ayame observed Hisana's expressions and reactions, The mixture of surprise, Confusion, and vulnerability on her face clear as day. Ayame's expression softened, And a hint of sadness flickered across her features.

"It's not uncommon in our noble society," She said, Her voice gentle but firm, "To have our futures planned out for us since birth. Whether it is in terms of whom we marry, What career we pursue, Or what role we play in our families... Rukon people often envy us nobles but if any ever had the opportunity to join us they'd come to abhor how we live in chains."

Ayame paused, Her eyes fixed on Hisana, Studying her reaction.

Hisana's eyes widened at Ayame's words, Her mind trying to cope with this new perspective. "Chains...?" She repeated, The word tasting foreign on her tongue.

"I... I never thought of it that way," She said, Her voice filled with a mixture of surprise and bewilderment. "It's just... I always thought it was a privilege to be born into a noble family. To have wealth, Status, and prestige... But you're telling me it's more like a prison?"

Ayame gave a small, Sad nod, Her eyes never leaving Hisana's. "Yes," She said, Her voice firm but gentle, "Exactly like that. I myself wasn't given a choice. My father made the decision to betroth me to Byakuya the moment I was born. I grew up knowing I would marry him one day. It was not a question of 'if' but 'when'..."

Ayame paused, Her gaze dropping to the floor. "I never questioned it," She continued, Her voice quieter, "I grew up knowing this was my path, My destiny. I was taught from a young age the importance of loyalty and duty, To the family and to the clan. I learned how to be a 'perfect' noblewoman, A dutiful daughter and a future wife..."

Her shoulders slumped slightly, Her eyes dull with resignation. "And so when Byakuya..." She stopped, Unable to finish the sentence.

Ayame's expression tightened at the memory, Her eyes darkening. "I felt a despair like no other," She confessed, Her voice heavy with pain. "I had resigned myself to my fate, I had accepted it. But the love I had for Byakuya, The future I had imagined, All those expectations and dreams... It all crashed down on me when he told me he loved you."

Her hands clenched into fists, Her knuckles turning white. "I felt betrayed, Lost, and discarded. And worse... I couldn't even hate him for it."

Hisana's eyes widened at Ayame's confession, Her heart filled with a mix of shock and sorrow. "Ayame..." She began, Her voice soft yet filled with concern. She looked at the woman before her, The pain she must have endured, The betrayal she had to cope with.

"That... Must have been a lot to bear," She said, Her voice barely above a whisper. "To have your dreams shattered like that, To love someone and to be unable to hate them... I just can't imagine, The depth of pain you must have felt. To love someone and to have them love someone else," She paused, Her eyes on Ayame's face. Hisana took a moment to compose her thoughts, chosing her words carefully. "Why did you tell me all this?" She asked, Her voice gentle, "Why did you feel the need to share this part of your past with me?"

Ayame's expression eased, And a look of understanding crossed her face. "I wanted you to understand," She said, Her voice firm yet gentle. "To understand what it means to be a part of this life, To be a part of a noble family. It may look splendid and luxurious, But it comes with a price."

She paused, Her eyes meeting Hisana's. "You are now a Kuchiki, You are Byakuya's wife. You will be expected to fulfill certain roles, To adhere to certain codes of conduct. I wanted you to be prepared for what is coming."

A hint of worry crept into Hisana's eyes as she absorbed Ayame's words. "Codes of conduct? What do you mean?" She asked, Her voice filled with unease. "What sort of roles am I expected to fulfill as a Kuchiki?"

Ayame smiled slightly, A touch of sympathy in her eyes. "There's the fact that you now bear the Kuchiki name, And the Kuchiki clan is one of the most prominent and respected clans in Noble Society. Expectations will be high, And so will the standards you are judged against." She listed, "Things like maintaining a certain image, Representing the Kuchiki name, Participating in clan meetings, Following certain traditions..."

Hisana nodded slowly, Trying to take everything in. "Traditions..." She echoed, "I see... And as the wife of Byakuya, Are there any specific expectations or responsibilities that come with that position?"

Ayame's expression became more serious as she continued, "As the wife of Byakuya, You will be expected to fulfil certain duties. You will be expected to support your husband, Attend certain events on his behalf, Represent the Kuchiki clan when necessary, And manage the household duties."

"You will also be expected to be a role model hostess, An image of elegance, Poise, And grace. You will be under constant scrutiny and judgement, Your demeanor and actions will reflect not just on you, But on the entire Kuchiki family."

A flicker of fear crossed Hisana's eyes. "That... That sounds like a lot." She said, Her voice tinged with anxiety. "I don't know if I can live up to all those expectations. I... I'm not from a noble family, I do not have the elegance, poise, And grace that is expected of a Kuchiki wife."

Ayame expected as much, "You don't need to worry," She reassured, Her voice understanding. "The Kuchiki family knows that you are not accustomed to the world of nobles, And they know that you are still learning. They will give you guidance and support. But you must be willing to learn and adapt."

Hisana's shoulders slumped slightly with a mixture of relief and understanding. "I... I suppose that's true," She said, Her voice quieter now, "I will have to learn fast and adapt. I can't afford to make any mistakes or bring shame to Byakuya and the Kuchiki family."

Right in the midst of their conversation, A soft, Almost inaudible sound of footsteps interrupted them. The door to the room creaked open, Revealing a familiar figure lurking in the shadows.

Tokinada stood there, leaning against the doorframe. An amused smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he observed the two women.

"Well, well, well," He drawled, His voice dripping with mock surprise, "What do we have here? A little heart-to-heart between the 'Sacred Heir' and..." His gaze flickered to Hisana, "The Lady Kuchiki. I must say, This is a rather unexpected sight."

Without warning, Tokinada pushed away from the doorframe and sauntered towards Ayame. The smirk on his face grew wider as he approached her, A glint of mischief in his eyes.

"You missed me, Didn't you?" He teased, Before reaching out and grasping her chin, Tilting her face up to meet his. Without another word, He leaned down and captured her lips in a possessive kiss.

Ayame was taken by surprise as Tokinada walked into the room, Her gaze hardening when he referred to Hisana as 'the Lady Kuchiki.' She opened her mouth to protest, But before she could say anything, Tokinada's attention was entirely on her.

As he leaned in and captured her lips in a possessive kiss, Ayame froze, Her body becoming rigid. Despite her initial surprise, The kiss seemed to melt away her defenses, And for a moment, She yielded to the kiss, Her lips parting against his.

However, Her mind was soon reeling. The situation was inappropriate and problematic with a guest like Hisana present. Yet, She found herself unable to pull back for a moment. It was only when Tokinada finally released her that she was able to step back, Trying to compose herself and collect her thoughts.

"What are you doing?" She managed to say, Her voice slightly shaky. "You can't just barge in here like that and..."

She glanced towards Hisana, Who was watching the scene with a confused and awkward expression.

Tokinada chuckled softly, His smirk widening as he watched Ayame's attempt to regain her composure. The sight of her flustered and a bit disheveled was quite pleasing to his ego.

"Can't I?" He replied, His voice dripping with amusement. "Why not? After all, Your heart still belongs to me, Doesn't it?"

He paused, His gaze shifting to Hisana. "As for our guest," He continued, Not at all phased by her presence, "I apologize for the interruption." His voice was filled with mockery.

Tokinada reached out and gently trailed a finger down Ayame's cheek. It was a subtle gesture, But one filled with possessiveness.

"I've been busy preparing for our wedding, Dear." He reminded her, His voice smooth yet firm. "Making sure everything is ready and perfect... Which is why I decided to take a break and see how you're doing. And look, I was right to come see you."

Ayame felt a twinge of irritation at Tokinada's words. She was not a child who needed to be checked on. Yet, She knew better than to argue with him in front of a third party.

"I'm doing fine," She said, Her voice controlled, "There's no need for you to worry."

She glanced at Hisana once more, Feeling a pang of guilt that the other lady had to witness this private and personal moment.

Tokinada's smirk softened for a moment, And his eyes held a hint of worry as he switched topics.

"How is our bundle of joy doing?" He asked, Placing his hand on Ayame's stomach. "You're eating well, Getting enough rest? You should not overwork yourself too much."

Ayame's irritation melted a bit at his concern, And a small smile touched her lips.

"Yes, I'm taking good care of myself," She assured him, Placing her hand over his, "I've been eating properly and taking the necessary rest. And I'm not overworking myself. I know my limits."

Tokinada's smile widened, Pleased with her answer.

"Good," He said, His hand gently rubbing her stomach. "I don't want you putting too much stress on yourself or the baby."

He paused, Shifting his gaze to Hisana again. Then, A hint of mockery crept in his tone. "After all, A healthy heir for the Kuchiki lineage is a wife's duty, Isn't it?"

Hisana, Who had been watching the exchange silently, Flinched slightly at Tokinada's words. She swallowed a knot in her throat and tried to answer.

"Y-Yes," She managed to say, Her voice soft yet filled with a hint of challenge. "Of course, A healthy heir is important. But that's not solely a wife's duty, It's both partners' responsibility, Isn't it?"

Tokinada chuckled softly, Finding her resistance endearing.

"Oh?" He smirked, His eyes full of mockery, "You're quite feisty, Aren't you? Well, You're right, It's not solely a wife's duty. It's the responsibility of both partners. But... Naturally, The burden of bearing and caring for the child falls more on the wife, Doesn't it?"

Hisana couldn't argue with that. As a woman, The physical and emotional burden of carrying and caring for a child were undeniable. But she lifted her chin in a small act of defiance.

"Yes, That's true," She admitted, "But that doesn't mean the father doesn't have responsibilities. There's more to being a father than just the ability to sire a child."

Tokinada smirked, Undeterred by Hisana's resistance.

"Ah, You're right," He agreed, His tone condescending. "A father's duties come into play when the child develops their sense of reason. That's when the father can truly begin to shape them, To mold and guide them into what they should become. But a baby... A baby needs a mother, A constant presence, A nurturing energy. Isn't that right, My dear?"

He glanced at Ayame, His hand still placed on her stomach. Ayame, Her cheeks flushed slightly, Nodded in agreement.

"Yes," She whispered, "A baby needs a mother, Someone who can provide a consistent, Loving presence. Someone to care for them, Comfort them."

She placed her hand over Tokinada's, Their fingers intertwining. But there was a hint of uncertainty in her gaze. "But what set of values must a father instill in his child?"

Tokinada's smirk widened as he spoke, His voice firm yet authoritative.

"A child must admire their father," He said, His gaze fixed on Ayame's. "They should look up to him, Respect him, And strive to be like him. A father should be a mentor, A source of strength, And an example to follow. If the child admires their sire, Then they will listen, They will learn, They will not falter when they face adversity."

He squeezed Ayame's hand, His eyes taking on a possessive glint. "Isn't that right, My dear?"

Ayame glanced at Tokinada, A hint of uncertainty in her eyes.

"But... Not everything about you is admirable," She said softly, Her voice barely a whisper. "There are some aspects of you that... Well, They're not exactly positive."

He frowned at her. "Oh, Really?" He said, His voice laced with sarcasm. "What do you mean by that, My dear?"

Ayame took a deep breath, Gathering her courage to express her thoughts.

"You're impulsive," She said with a small hint of exasperation. "You have no self-restraint. You do things first and think about the consequences later. And let's not forget the number of times you've gotten into trouble with the law because of your antics. Many Tsunayashiro view you as a stain on the family name."

Tokinada's expression darkened, His eyes narrowing with annoyance at her mention of his past behavior.

"Impulsive, You say?" He said, His voice filled with defensiveness. "I am driven, My dear. I see an opportunity, And I take it like when I entered your bed. As for the law... Well, It's not my fault those uptight bureaucrats can't understand their own hypocrisy."

He shrugged nonchalantly. "And let the other Tsunayashiro think what they want. What do their opinions matter to me?"

Ayame couldn't contain her worry any longer.

"Destructive tendencies," She whispered. "That's precisely what I'm afraid of. I know you're a passionate man, And you have your reasons for your actions. But I don't want our child to have the same destructive tendencies. I want them to be guided by logic, To make choices that bring about positive change."

She paused, A hint of pleading in her voice. "Can you promise me you'll not pass on those destructive habits?"

Tokinada sneered at her words, His eyes cold and dismissive.

"A restrained, Pathetic man like Kuchiki?" He snapped. "Is that what you want our son to be? A man who obeys the rules without question, Who follows the path set by others without a single thought of his own?"

He leaned closer to her, His expression intense. "I refuse to create such a weakling," He declared. "No... Our son will be strong, Fearless, And unburdened by unnecessary restraint."

Despite her initial worries, A small part of Ayame couldn't help but admire Tokinada's dedication to their child. He was passionate, Determined, and unwavering in his commitment.

"I admire your dedication," She admitted, Her voice barely above a whisper. "You want our child to be strong, Fearless, And free. And part of me understands that, But..."

She trailed off, Her eyes pleading with him. "But promise me you'll also teach our child to be kind, Moral, and empathetic."

Tokinada rolled his eyes, Scoffing at her request.

"Kindness, Morals, Empathy... Those are a woman's responsibilities," He said, His tone dismissive. "I have no patience for such things. I can't be bothered to teach our son to be kind or empathetic."

He leaned back, A smirk on his face, "That's where you come in, Dear. You're the one who should teach our son those... Soft virtues. That's your role as a mother."

Ayame's face fell at his words, Disappointment and expectancy on her features. She knew this was what he would say, But a small part of her had hoped he'd change his mind.

"I see," She said quietly, Her voice betraying a hint of acceptance. "So I'm the one responsible for teaching our child kindness. That's my duty, In your eyes."

She paused for a moment, The words catching in her throat before she finally forced herself to speak. "And what about you, Tokinada? What will you teach our child?"

"Me? I'll teach our child strength, Ambition, And the art of manipulation." He said, His voice dripping with confidence. "I'll show him how to get what he wants, How to use people to his advantage, And how to rise to the top by any means necessary."

Tokinada glanced at a silent Hisana, A cruel smile upon his lips.

"Ah, Yes, The Kuchiki heir, Byakuya," He sneered. "That self-righteous, Pompous fool. And you... You will find yourself in his bed soon enough, Won't you?"

He chuckled before continuing, A mocking tone in his voice. "But don't worry, Dear. I have no doubt your child will be stronger, More ambitious than the pathetic Kuchiki heir. Your child will surpass him easily."

Hisana's face remained expressionless, But a pang of determination flared in her eyes. She knew there was no point in arguing with Tokinada.

"Whether my child surpasses his father or not is irrelevant," Hisana said quietly, Her voice firm. "I shall raise my child with care, Compassion, And wisdom. That is all that matters."

Tokinada observed both women intently, His gaze flickering back and forth.

"The two of you are similar in some ways," He mused, "Yet so different in others."

He looked at Hisana, A smirk upon his lips.

"You, My lady, Are quiet, reserved, But with an air of dignity and strength. A quiet determination, If I might say so."

Tokinada then turned his gaze to Ayame, His expression becoming slightly softer.

"And then there's you, My dearest," He said, A hint of affection in his voice. "You're soft, Compassionate, a nurturing soul. You worry about the consequences of decisions, But you're no pushover."

Ayame's cheeks flushed slightly at his words, A small giggle escaping her lips.

"You flatter me," She said, Her voice soft.

She took a moment to look at Hisana, Noticing the other woman's stoic demeanor. She couldn't help but feel a hint of sympathy. She knew how challenging it must be for Hisana to deal with Tokinada's remarks. Ayame continued, A small, understanding smile on her lips.

"I must say, Hisana, You're quite brave to endure Tokinada's remarks so gracefully," She said, Her voice gentle. "He can be quite... Blunt, To put it mildly."

Hisana's expression remained stoic, But a slight hint of vulnerability flickered in her eyes.

"Thank you, My lady," She said quietly. "Years of dealing with difficult personalities have taught me the importance of maintaining my composure. Tokinada's words are just words, After all. They only hold power over me if I allow them to do so."

Tokinada turned his attention back to Hisana, His expression still holding a hint of mockery.

"Ah, Yes, Our wedding," He said, His voice laced with nonchalance. "Such an important event, isn't it? And I do hope you'll be in attendance."

He leaned closer to Hisana, His tone taking on a hint of condescension.

"Of course, I understand if you've got more important things to do than witness lovebirds unite in matrimony."

Hisana's face gave nothing away, Her emotions carefully hidden behind her composed exterior.

"I will be present at your wedding, Lord Tokinada," She said, Her voice cool. "It is my duty as a member of the Kuchiki clan to attend such events."

Tokinada's smirk widened as he responded.

"Of course, My dear Ayame will be pleased to see you there," He said, His tone slightly mocking. "She appreciates the company of 'good people'... Unlike myself, It seems."

Ayame shot Tokinada a look, A flicker of annoyance crossing her face before she responded.

"Don't say such things, My love," She chided. "You know I enjoy your company, flaws and all."

A touch of surprise flickered across Tokinada's face at her response, But he quickly concealed it with a smirk.

"Ah, My sweet goddess, Always too forgiving for your own good," He said, Feigning nonchalance, Pressing a hand to her breast. "But I appreciate the sentiment, Nonetheless."

Ayame's expression grew earnest, Her voice taking on a hint of gravity.

"In all seriousness, Next spring, Please try to behave yourself during the wedding," She requested, Her tone gently pleading. "I want everything to go smoothly, For our sake and our guests'. Can you do that for me, My love?"

Tokinada continued his groping, His eyes shining with a hint of wickedness. He leaned closer, His voice dropping to a husky murmur.

"I was thinking of doing much more than that," He whispered, A twisted grin on his face. "Perhaps right in the middle of the ceremony, where everyone could watch..."

Ayame's face paled, Her eyes widening at his words.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked hesitantly, A mix of shock and trepidation in her voice. "During the ceremony...? In front of everyone...?"

Tokinada chuckled, A sly smirk on his lips.

"Oh, You heard me correctly, my dear," He said, His voice dripping with mockery. "I was thinking of... Engaging in certain acts with you... Right there, During your precious ceremony."

Ayame's face flushed a deep red, A mixture of embarrassment and shock on her features.

"You can't be serious," She said, Her voice a mixture of disbelief and horror. "There are going to be so many people present... Including my friends, Family, My captain and my squad! Do you honestly think something like that would be appropriate?!"

Tokinada chuckled, His tone taking on a sinister edge as he spoke.

"Oh, Your father wanted me to slap you in front of everyone. Well, I have a better idea... " His smirk grew wider as he leaned in closer, His voice taking on a seductive, Tokinada lowered his voice to a whisper, His tone suggestive. "A demonstration of my devotion to you, In the most carnal of ways... Just to show those noblemen and pious idiots that you are mine."

Ayame blushed profusely at his words, A blush that quickly spread to the rest of her face and neck, Coloring her cheeks a vibrant crimson.

She didn't respond immediately, Her silence prompting Tokinada to speak again. He chuckled softly, His tone smug, "Well, my sweet goddess? Are you willing to be taken Infront of thousands of noblemen who wished to wife you and your former fiance? All awhile wearing silken wedding robes?"

Ayame's heart fluttered with a mix of excitement and trepidation as she listened to Tokinada's wicked proposition. The idea of being intimate with him in front of such a large audience was both terrifying and thrilling simultaneously. Yet, At the same time, The thought of being possessed and claimed by him before her family, Her friends, And all the noblemen who had once desired her was undeniably enticing.

She bit her lip, Her conflicted emotions evident on her face.

Finally, She met Tokinada's gaze, Her eyes gleaming with a mixture of desire and shame. As Ayame met Tokinada's eyes, He could see the struggle going on within her. The battle between the desire to submit to his whims and the fear of being exposed in such a vulnerable way. He could see the flicker of trepidation in her eyes, The slight shiver that ran through her body at the thought of being so intimate with him in public.

Leaning in, He spoke softly, His voice a seductive murmur.

"Come now, My dear," He said, His hand reaching out to touch her neck. "Don't be shy, It is very much unlike you."

Ayame's breath caught in her throat as Tokinada's fingers brushed against her neck, Sending a shiver down her spine. She knew she shouldn't give in to her desires, But the heat in his gaze and the allure of being owned by him in such an intimate way was too hard to resist.

She swallowed, Gathering her composure, Before replying, Her voice trembling slightly.

"And what if someone sees us? What if my captain sees us?" She asked, Her eyes darting nervously to Hisana.

Tokinada chuckled, His fingers tracing a pattern on her skin, Sending further shivers down her spine.

"Let them see us, My dear," He said, His voice low and seductive. "In fact, I want them to see us. I want them to know that you belong to me, That I'm the only one who can satisfy your desires. And if your captain sees us, Well, All the better."

Ayame's heart beat faster at Tokinada's words. The thought of being exposed and seen in such an intimate moment was both terrifying and exciting.

She took a shaky breath, Her voice coming out in a whisper.

"Are you... Are you sure about this?" She asked, Glancing down nervously. "They all know me. What if they see us and... And judge me?"

Tokinada smirked, His gaze fixed on her.

"Ah, my dear," He murmured, His fingers continuing their slow, Deliberate path up her neck. "They already judge you simply by being engaged to me. They whisper and gossip the second you're out of their view. But what does it matter?"

He leaned in, His lips hovering just inches away from her ear.

"Let them judge. Let them whisper. Let them know the ecstasy that only I can make you feel."

Ayame closed her eyes, Her mind racing with conflicting emotions. Tokinada's words had stirred something deep within her, A desire for his touch and the thrill of being witnessed in such a vulnerable moment. Yet, She couldn't shake the feeling of embarrassment and guilt. There was a long moment of silence before she finally turned to Hisana, Her voice a shaky whisper.

"I... I don't know if I can," She said, Her eyes downcast. "There are so many people here, And they all know me. I don't want to disgrace myself or my family..."

Tokinada chuckled, His arms circling around Ayame's waist.

"Perhaps, My sweet Ayame," he said, His voice low and seductive. "You will be surprised at the most opportune moment, When you least expect it."

He leaned in, His chin resting on her shoulder.

"I won't tell you when I'm going to start. You'll just have to wait and see."

Ayame shivered involuntarily, Her body's reaction to his whispered words betraying her. Despite her doubts and misgivings, A part of her thrilled at the thought of being surprised by his intimate advances, Especially in a public setting.

"I... I understand," She managed to reply, Her voice filled with both trepidation and excitement. "I will wait patiently, Then."

Tokinada smiled, A sly, knowing smile, And drew her closer. He angled her face up and leaned down, His lips capturing hers in a slow, Intense kiss, His hand gently caressing her cheek. His tongue traced the curve of her mouth, Seeking entry, and she found herself parting her lips to welcome him in.

Hisana's discomfort was written all over her face as she watched the intimate exchange between Ayame and Tokinada from afar. As much as she loathed the man, She couldn't deny the way his words and actions had affected Ayame's response. It was clear that the two of them shared a twisted kind of chemistry, Something that went beyond the bounds of what was considered proper.

With a heavy sigh, Hisana decided to remove herself from the situation, Hoping that some distance would bring some much-needed clarity to her thoughts.

As Ayame and Tokinada continued to kiss, Oblivious to the rest of the world, Hisana made her way through the room and into the hallway, Determined to put some distance between herself and the scene unfolding. She found herself in the low light quiet hall, Away from the couple, And leaned against a wall, Taking a moment to gather her thoughts.

She couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that gripped her, A sense of foreboding that something was about to happen. Perhaps it was the way Ayame's body seemed to melt into Tokinada's embrace, The way she seemed to surrender to him without a hint of resistance.

As she stood there, Hisana was pulled out of her thoughts by a sudden burst of giggles and whispered conversation from a group of Ayame's handmaids nearby. Despite the low volume of their voices, Hisana was able to catch snippets of their words, And the mention of Ayame's name immediately piqued her interest.

Slowly, She moved closer to them, Keeping her distance but close enough to overhear their conversation. The women whispered excitedly amongst themselves, Giggling and hushed tones, Clearly gossiping about the scene they had witnessed with Ayame and Tokinada.

"Can you believe it?" One of the girls whispered, Her voice filled with awe. "Lady Ayame, Melting in Tokinada's arms like that! It's like she's completely under his spell!"

Another handmaid giggled, Covering her mouth daintily. "I know right? I've never seen her so... Unrestrained before. It's almost naughty!"

One of the handmaids, A young woman with an air of mischief about her, Couldn't resist but chime in on the conversation. "And you know what's even more scandalous?" She said, Her voice dropping to a hushed whisper.

The other handmaids leaned in, Their eyes widening in anticipation. "What? What is it?" They asked, Their curiosity piqued.

The handmaid looked around quickly to make sure no one else was close enough to hear their conversation before continuing, Her voice a low hush. "Well, Rumour has it that it all started because Tokinada... Seduced Ayame. He didn't ask his family for permission to court her or anything. He just went to her one night, And the next thing you know, He's announced that they're engaged."

The other handmaids gasped in surprise, Their eyes growing wide at this revelation.

One of the handmaids, A woman known for her sassy remarks, Chuckled. "Oh yeah," She said with a sly grin. "I heard that Tokinada actually escaped the Tsunayashiro estate to pursue Lady Ayame. Apparently, He couldn't resist the lure of her beauty and grace."

Another handmaid, An older woman with a sharp tongue, Interjected with a scoff. "I know right?" She said, Her tone dripping with disbelief. "With Tokinada's reputation—Being a murderer and all—I can't believe Lord Hachiryu agreed to let him near Lady Ayame. It's almost like he's allowing a fox into the henhouse."

The handmaids continued to gossip amongst themselves, Speculating about Lord Hachiryu's decision to allow Tokinada to court Ayame. One of them, A petite girl with sparkling eyes, Chimed in with a theory of her own.

"Maybe this is one of Lord Hachiryu's schemes." She said, Insightfully. "Especially after Lady Ayame's broken marriage arrangement. She cried for days after that."

The other handmaids nodded in agreement, And one of them, A girl with a sharp mind, Added her own thoughts to the conversation.

"It could be some sort of strategic move," She said. "Maybe Lord Hachiryu is using Tokinada as a pawn in some bigger plan. After all, Marriage alliances are a delicate game of power and politics."

The older woman with a stern expression, Spoke up, her voice heavy with implications. "Perhaps Lord Hachiryu has a grudge against Lady Ayame's former betrothed," She said. "After all, The Kuchiki broke off his arranged marriage with his daughter, And the poor thing tried to commit suicide because of it."

Hisana listened intently to the handmaids' conversation, Her mind processing the information they were sharing. The mention of Ayame's former betrothed and her attempted suicide hit her like a ton of bricks, And she found herself rooted to the spot, Unable to move.

The handmaids continued their conversation, Oblivious to Hisana's presence. "Maybe the whole thing between Tokinada and Lady Ayame is just Lord Hachiryu's way of getting back at the Kuchiki heir." One of them suggested.

The handmaid nodded in agreement. "That's true," She said. "Maybe Lord Hachiryu saw an opportunity to get under Lord Kuchiki's skin by pairing his daughter with someone as reckless and dangerous as Tokinada."

Another handmaid chimed in, Her voice filled with disdain. "That Tokinada is a menace in every sense of the word. How could he even win a woman as poised and elegant as Lady Ayame?"

Hisana's thoughts were interrupted by another comment from one of the handmaids, Her voice laced with admiration. "Well," The girl said, Sighing dreamily. "Despite Tokinada's dangerous reputation, You can't deny that there's a certain thrill to being with him, Can you? I mean, He has a way with words, unapologetic, and dangerous... Well, He's not hard on the eyes either."

Hisana couldn't help but continue to listen in on the handmaids' conversation, Her curiosity getting the better of her.

The more experienced handmaid, Took a different stance, "I heard Tokinada is a cunning manipulator," One of them hissed. "He probably used some underhanded tactics to win Lady Ayame over, Knowing she was in a vulnerable state after her broken engagement."

Hisana, Unable to stomach more of the handmaids' gossip, Quietly slipped away from the group and made her way towards Hachiryu's office. As she approached the door, She spotted Byakuya standing outside, deep in thought.

Without a word, She walked up to him, Her expression filled with a mixture of concern and irritation.

"Byakuya," She said quietly, Her voice wavering slightly. "Can I talk to you for a moment?"

Byakuya looked up sharply, His eyes narrowing in concern as he noticed the distress in Hisana's voice. He stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, Guiding her into a secluded corner.

"What's wrong?" He asked, Studying her face carefully.

Hisana took a deep breath, Trying to gather her thoughts. The words from the handmaids and the knowledge about Ayame's past weighed heavily on her mind.

"It's about Ayame," She began, Fixing her gaze on Byakuya's steady eyes. "I overheard some handmaids talking and... It's not good."

Byakuya's expression darkened as he listened intently to Hisana's words. "What did you hear?" He asked, His voice laced with a hint of tension.

Hisana paused for a moment, Trying to find the right words to explain. "They were gossiping about Ayame and Tokinada's engagement... Saying that he essentially seduced her into bed, And some even suggested that it was all part of a plan for Lord Hachiryu to get back at you."

The Utsunomiya were after all infamous for their grudges.

Byakuya nodded, His expression solemn. "I see," He said. "I already had a conversation with Lord Hachiryu about this situation."

He paused for a moment, His eyes searching Hisana's face. "Did they say anything else?"

Hisana licked her lips nervously, Her mind mulling over what she had heard. "They also mentioned Ayame's former betrothal... And how she tried to commit suicide after you broke off the marriage..."

Byakuya's eyes darkened further, A flicker of guilt passing over his face.

"Yes," Byakuya said, His voice heavy with remorse. "Lord Hachiryu informed me about that incident. It was something that weighed heavily on my conscience... I never intended for her to suffer like that."

He paused for a moment, His gaze distant, As if reliving the events in his mind.

"But I cannot change the past," He continued, His voice growing firmer. "Right now, The only thing that matters is Ayame's well-being and safety. I can't shake the feeling that something is off. Something about this whole arrangement between her and Tokinada doesn't sit right with me."

Hisana nodded, Her expression filled with shared concern. "I couldn't agree more," She said. "I've been watching them both tonight, And something just doesn't feel right. The way Tokinada talks to her, The way he touches her... It's almost possessive."

Byakuya's jaw tightened at Hisana's observation. "Yes, I had the same impression," he said. "There's an unsettling air of power and control surrounding him. It's as if he sees Ayame as his property, Something to possess rather than an equal partner."

Hisana's eyes narrowed, A protective instinct taking over. "That's the thing that worries me," She said. "Ayame is such a gentle soul. She's always been kind and considerate, And to see her with someone who seems to have so much power over her... It doesn't sit well with me at all."

Byakuya nodded in concurrence, His expression thoughtful. "You're right," He said. "Ayame may seem soft and fragile, But there's a steeliness inside her that not many can see..." A weary sigh escaped his lips. "But even the strongest, Most calculated have their weak moments, And the right words or actions could bring someone like her to her knees."

Hisana's eyes softened with understanding. "You speak from experience," She commented quietly. "I'm sure you of all people know how easily one's vulnerabilities can be exploited."

Byakuya's expression remained stoic, But there was a flicker of vulnerability in his eyes. "Indeed," He murmured. "I am all too familiar with manipulation and the consequences it can bring. It's why I fear for Ayame's safety, Even if she is capable of handling herself in many situations... We've been here long enough," He said, glancing at the servents busseling around them. "It's time we return to the Kuchiki estate."

Without waiting for a response, He started walking towards the exit, Hisana quickly falling into step beside him.

As they exited the hall, The cool night air hit their faces, And the sounds and lights of the Utsunomiya castle faded into the background. Byakuya and Hisana walked in silence, Both lost in their thoughts about Ayame and the precarious situation she seemed to be in.

They soon arrived at the Kuchiki estate and made their way inside, The familiar surroundings offering a slight sense of comfort. Once they were alone in a secluded hall, Byakuya turned to Hisana and hugged her.

As Byakuya held Hisana tightly, A mix of worry and reassurance etched on his face, They both remained silent for a moment, Finding comfort in each other's presence. Then, Byakuya pulled back slightly, Cupping Hisana's cheek. Surprise colored her cheeks but Hisana found his gesture welcoming nonetheless. He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss onto Her forehead. As he pulled back, Hisana smiled up at him with a look of gratitude. Byakuya returned the smile and brushed his thumb gently along Hisana's cheekbone, Before letting go and taking her right hand, Leading them both further into the estate.
