Prologue: The dark arrival
A new idea came to me since I played the Darkness games and read the background about it. I figured I give a little twist as to how this entity would be used. I don't own anything except the OC.
A twenty one year old man was seen organizing some files at the teacher's lounge. He had shoulder length black hair with blue eyes and a calm expression. He looked serious, but held a warm heart. His name was Yami Taiyo. He heard a strange commotion from outside.
"What the?" Yami asked.
Unbeknownst to him, a male teen from a nearby staircase outside was watching the commotion. He had black spiky hair and brown eyes and was wearing a black school uniform with a red t-shirt. The teen watched Yami as he made it to the school gate. A strange teen male was moving to the iron gate, bashing his head as though he was in a daze and unresponsive. However, from behind, a large gaping wound of torn flesh was shown.
"What's with this guy…?" Yami asked.
Soon, a burly male teacher that Yami knew, alongside another male and a female teacher arrived.
'That's Teshima and Hayashi Kyoko. The other guy must be Wakisaba.' Yami thought.
While he pondered on the male teen banging on the metal gate, a disembodied voice came to him.
"Yami…"
This startled the man, forcing him to look around for what spoke to him as though he heard the voice near his ears. However, he realized no one spoke to him.
'I must be hearing things… Already on my twenty first birthday…' Yami thought.
Soon, Teshima grabbed the male teen by the cloth of his shirt and violently pulled him to the gate. This got the teen to bump his head on the gate.
"Teshima! That was really violent there." Kyoko spoke with disdain.
"I had to shake him up since he kept banging on the gate." Teshima noted.
Soon the male teen managed to quickly grab Teshima's outstretched arm and bit him, drawing copious amounts of blood. This caused Teshima to scream as he soon died from blood loss shock. This startled the group of teachers whom saw the ordeal.
"What the…!?" Yami asked in shock.
"He's dead…" Wakisube said with shock.
"Oh no…" Kyoko said.
Yami was unable to handle the shock of seeing someone he knew died in front of him. Soon, the same disembodied voice came to him.
"Soon… Darkness will come."
The voice startled Yami again, making him uncomfortable. Soon, the three teachers heard Teshima groaning, but he looked like a corpse. His skin turned necrotic and pale, forcing Yami to push Teshima back, whom was about to bite Kyoko.
"Go! Get out of here! Hurry to the students and protect them!" Yami commanded.
Wakisube and Kyoko were forced to flee as Yami held Teshima back. The young man was surprised of Teshima's strength.
"What the hell? He's stronger than usual…!?" Yami realized.
Takashi watched with shock as he saw the whole ordeal. Still, he watched as Yami was struggling to fend off Teshima, whom was now a zombie.
"Don't make me do this…" Yami warned.
Teshima roared in a zombie groan as he lashed out to Yami. In an expert maneuver, the young man grappled the zombie Teshima and was forced to do a grapple throw on the neck, slamming the zombie on the pavements head first. The impact was enough to kill the zombie.
"Didn't think my wrestling would help this way… Still, I don't think I want to get bit from my former colleague… He was dead since his skin felt cold like ice… He was dead this whole time when that teen bit him." Yami realized.
Soon, the disembodied voice began to manifest in his head.
"Through you, I will display my power…"
This startled Yami as he kept hearing the voice.
'What the hell is this voice that keeps talking to me…? It sounds like someone had sandpaper with an ominous tone while it was calm.' Yami thought.
The pondering moment soon got Yami to think briefly before Wakisube began announcing the students of the case in regards of what happened at the gate. Soon, his screams were heard as he was fighting something off.
'Oh no…' Yami thought.
Realizing he would need the means to fight off the zombies, he armed himself with a steel pole.
-Before the announcement-
Takashi was making his way to class 2-A. He was running his way to the classroom.
'I have to warn them, fast!' Takashi thought.
He soon made it inside and found the people he was looking for. There was a brown haired girl with an orange hue in the light with red eyes. Near her, there was a guy with gray hair and brown eyes. They were Rei Miyamoto and Hisashi Igou.
"Takashi, what's wrong? You looked like you ran a marathon." Hisashi noted.
"There was trouble at one of the gates of the school. I saw the school teachers trying to stop someone causing a problem and one of them died." Takashi explained.
"What kind of lie is that, Takashi? I don't believe that-" Rei said before being interrupted by a slap from Takashi.
The slap echoed in the classroom, which got everyone to shut their mouths in shock.
"This is not the time for an argument! We have to get moving since panic will start to happen." Takashi explained.
Hisashi was surprised but was willing to listen. He knew Takashi was serious as he could see his posture was not conveying any lies.
Takashi, Rei, and Hisashi were now in the hallway of the school. Takashi procured a broomstick and rippled it up.
"Rei, you're part of the Sojutsu club so you need something to defend yourself with." Takashi said.
"A broomstick for a spear? I guess so." Rei reluctantly agreed.
"How about you, Hisashi?" Takashi asked.
"I have a black belt on karate." Hisashi said.
Soon, Wakisube began to announce to the students to exit the school in a calm manner till he began yelling for help as he was under attack.
'Oh shit…' Takashi thought.
The whole school soon erupted in chaos as the students began to flee in terror.
Yami was now holding a steel pipe, ready to fight off whatever the panic began to throw at him, be it the zombies that now crowded the school building from outside or the students that now began flooding out of the school in panic. He raced his way through the school, encountering several zombies and hitting their heads to take them down. There were various people whom were zombified from students to various adults. It was encumbering to his mind as the disembodied voice began to laugh as if reveling the slaughter.
"Yes, my puppet. Kill these abominations."
The voice was now starting to make Yami more uncomfortable than usual. He was now feeling an ominous presence due to the voice. It felt creepy as it relished the actions of fighting the zombies.
'What the hell is with this voice? Why is it relishing when I do the fighting?' Yami thought.
Unknown to Yami, a dark purple aura was enshrouding the pipe he was holding. It was hiding in the core of the pipe, away from the light. The pipe was being enchanted by the dark aura that made it dense.
"I don't have much of a choice, but to fight these zombies off if I have to." Yami said.
He began swinging the pipe while aiming at their heads. Each hit caused the zombies to fall dead. Some were unlucky to had their heads explode from the sheer force, much to Yami's surprise.
"What the…?" He commented in a shocked moment.
He didn't let this distract him as more zombies began to gather around him. Yami soon swung his pipe hard to push the zombies about to crowd him in front, forcing them to be pushed back. This got Yami to escape the group, though he was surprised of his hidden strength.
'I really don't know why I'm able to do this… What is this crazy strength…?' Yami thought.
The disembodied voice began speaking to him.
"Yami… The dead are abominations of disease and wastes of human flesh. Kill them." The voice commanded.
Surprised on the voice's brief explanation, he realized it was not a mental disorder. It was something sentient and smart.
'I'm not losing it at all… Whatever it is, it feels like it knows what this zombie problem is.' Yami thought.
Soon, Yami felt a dark presence that was guiding him in the school. It was a strange sensation that he felt, but it felt as though he was being lured to it. He felt it at a nearby sports closet.
'What is this feeling…? I can feel a dark presence here…' Yami thought.
Soon, he wandered in. The zombies were still far away, allowing him to enter the closet without problems. He soon found the source of the sensation. It was a decorated katana that held various seals. The sheathe had a dark purple aura surging in it. Upon holding it, Yami felt the voice come to him.
"Yes… This is an artifact that holds my power. Take the sword. Make it yours." The voice commanded.
Yami held it as the dark power surged on to him. Since there was little light, the dark aura soon surged on his body in a dark purple aura. It was an ominous feeling as he felt it slowly being awakened.
"What is this feeling? What is this aura that is awakening in me?" Yami questioned.
The voice soon came to him. It finally revealed its presence.
"Through your body, I am now born. You are my puppet and my host. You now hold the power of the Darkness. I can grant you my power." The voice explained.
"What are you?" Yami asked.
"I am the Darkness. And you are mine." The entity called the Darkness spoke.
Yami saw various tentacles of darkness on his body with two serpentine bodies with glowing lights. They looked demonic in appearance. Upon finding a mirror, he noticed his eyes were now glowing an otherworldly white. The serpentine heads roared in greeting, but were not threatening to him. They were acting as though they were showing the Darkness's presence.
"Just, what are you? Am I your holder of this power?" Yami reluctantly asked.
"I am your gift. Stay in the shadows, Yami, for your power is in darkness." The Darkness spoke.
Having little to trust in due to the crisis happening, Yami was now forced to rely on the help of the Darkness. Holding the katana relic that held its power, he now holds immense power from the weapon.
"I'm ready now." Yami said with conviction, ready to fight off the zombies.
He began fighting the zombies, cutting their heads off with surprising expertise. He realized the katana was guiding him in using it to fight the zombies.
'I see now. You're guiding me.' Yami realized.
"Yes… Relish in this new power and kill these abominations!" The Darkness spoke.
Yami began to fight them off. Each kill from the zombies, he felt the power grow stronger. However, upon stepping out in the vast sunlight, the Darkness's presence disappeared as the entity retreated in Yami's body.
"It's true what it said… It's power relies on the darkness to keep it strong. If I can reach the shades around the school, I can recharge my power if I feel I need to." Yami realized.
Yami had to equip his special coat, which was a dark trench coat. It's light to provide breathing space for the body, but enough to keep him warm since it was still early spring and cool. This allowed the Darkness to recharge itself from the shade created by the trench coat.
"Ah… Dark bliss at last." The Darkness spoke with delight.
He soon heard a commotion above the higher floors. Realizing he needs to see what is the cause, Yami made his way to investigate.
"Better to see what is happening up there. I don't like this and more importantly, she's up there…" Yami realized.
He began recalling childhood memories of a young blonde haired girl. He was now feeling a sense of morose, knowing that his new power might scare the person he cared for.
"Do not be hindered, Yami. I will give you my power." The Darkness commented.

Yami made his way up the floors across the school, cutting down the zombies. He could hear the Darkness laughing in glee as he cut down the zombies with efficient speed and brutal power with the dark katana.
"Relinquish yourself. Let me guide you." The Darkness spoke.
"Alright then. Do what you like, but get these zombies down for good." Yami relented, speaking to the Darkness.
"Ah, my puppet has finally relinquished me control. Now I shall help." The Darkness spoke in agreement.
Guiding Yami's body, he began cutting down the zombies. Some students noticed Yami was killing the zombies, much to their horror and surprise as he was decapitating them.
"Whoa… Is that Yami-sensei?" A male student spoke.
The male student was a chubby male teen at 16 years of age with black shoulder length hair and brown eyes. He had glasses on. This is Kohta Hirano.
The voice alerted Yami and looked to Kohta. The young student looked at Yami, whom looked mind numb before he heard his voice. It sounded very ominous to his opinion.
"Hurry… Find your way to survive." Yami's voice echoed.
Kohta was surprised on the tone as Yami began slicing down the zombies. He was soon met with a pink haired girl. She was a 16 year old girl of the school, whom held a lower than average height but held a model appearance. Her hair was tied in twin tails and had fiery orange eyes. She was Saya Takagi.
"Takagi-san?" Kohta said.
Says noticed Kohta and got him up, much to her chagrin.
"Listen up fatso. I know you're one of those military otaku nerds so we should head to the carpentry class to help you make a weapon." Saya said.
They both noticed it was clear as Yami kept killing all the zombies with little time wasting. He didn't bother sparing a single one as their heads were plastered all over the hallway in a bloody manner.

The effects of the pandemonium in the school were already evident. Most of the students were turned into zombies. Takashi, Rei and Hisashi were making their way to the roof. They noticed several of the students that were zombies now dead.
"What the hell killed them like this?" Takashi questioned.
"I don't know, but it can make things easy for us to get around without being crowded." Hisashi said.
"We don't know how they got decapitated… Wait, we should calm my father." Rei suggested.
"A good time to break the rules." Takashi agreed.
Rei began dialing her phone but no answer came. She dialed again but still no response. She then used Takashi's phone to call her father.
"Rei, is this you? Listen, I know you dialed from Takashi's phone but you must hear me out. The town's being evacuated. You have to get out of there. Find your mother-" Rei's father spoke before the phone line was cut off.
Rei was dishearted as her father couldn't hear her voice. However, she felt determined to survive.

Yami kept slaughtering the zombies with vigor as he kept clearing them out. The Darkness relished in the slaughter as he kept fighting them off.
"These abominations are all dead. Kill them to relinquish your urge to hold me back and let me feed." The Darkness spoke.
Yami didn't stop his spree of decapitating the zombies. Holding the katana imbued with the Darkness's power, he kept fighting. Bodies of the dead were now falling as they were sliced with their heads finally torn off.
"This power is unbelievable… I don't think I'll ever be able to tell how vast it is…" Yami said.
"I can do more than just simply grant you my strength. Your power and my power grow stronger in darkness. Feed me my dark energy by killing these monsters. Deprive them of their life while I relish my strength growing." The Darkness spoke.
Yami didn't stop as he kept hunting the zombies. The Darkness practically enjoyed the slaughter fest as the young man killed the zombies. They didn't couldn't get close as he swiftly took them down. Strangely, Yami didn't feel exhausted as he realized how fine he felt.
"I don't feel exhausted even after taking those zombies down… How is this possible?" Yami asked to himself.
"My power sustains you. You will not fall weak nor die with me." The Darkness responded.
Fighting off the numerous zombies, he soon found himself near the infirmary, where a large crowd of zombies were trying to get in. Yami began slicing them all down, even stabbing the katana through their heads. Their numbers were being cleaned down, allowing the people in the infirmary to have a sigh of relief as silence came to them.
