Lucky Spencer had never been able to keep his eyes off Elizabeth Webber…Baldwin. She was always Elizabeth Webber to him, even when she had been Elizabeth Spencer. When he had come back to Port Charles, he knew that seeing her would influence him, but what he had not been prepared for was the way that they fell back into a routine with some things.
There was some awkwardness, of course. It had been a long time. He had stayed away for a long time. The last time he had seen her, he had told her that it was never goodbye, but he could not stop himself from leaving, at the time. He had so many worries about never being good enough for the boys. Nikolas had driven that in deeper, telling him even though they were lying about Jason's identity, he could be the father Lucky knew he would not be able to.
But Lucky should have been better about staying in touch with Aiden. He knew that was on him, but he had been trying. It had taken him a while to figure out if he wanted to stay or go. But as soon as Elizabeth had been in trouble, he had wanted to stay. That was another 'flaw' that he had always had. It was one that was partly why he left, but it was different now. It just was. They had started spending more time working on her case, spending time together. The thing was, investigating things with her, it just brought back so many memories.
He could remember when they first looked for her attacker and they spent months trying to investigate, as she tried to heal. He would spend hours watching her, while they were in the boxcar. Lucky would have done anything back then to protect her and he tried to do just that. They got into trouble, investigating things they should not, and he still had a scar from where she accidentally stabbed him. But the thing was he never minded. The hardest part of it was knowing that it was a dead end for her, one that gave her no answers.
It was not until they were trying to find Emily's blackmailer, again investigating, that they did find her attacker. By then, he was doing more than watching her. They were kissing. The looks were lingering longer, and he knew that Emily and Nikolas knew that something was happening, but he did not care. He stopped himself from kissing her now, due to all the pain their past held, scared to lose what they did have now. But that did not mean it did not enter his mind. He constantly thought about it. When she had entered Charlie's the other night, she had nearly knocked the wind out of him by how beautiful she was.
Again, they were talking about her case. Sometimes, he felt like it was an excuse for them to see each other and it is possible that he flirted with her, while trying to figure out what had happened to the people who had been killed. He never said he was normal. But then, she showed up at the police station.
Even when they had tried to expose Helena to get Nikolas out of jail, he knew right away that they were reconciling. They wound up marrying after that. They had plans next to go to Turning Woods and he was going to attempt to keep his mouth shut, but the thing was, he was not remotely good at that.
When he thought about keeping his mouth shut, he had almost told her she might have to shut his mouth for him. But as he thought about what had happened recently, another thought popped into his mind. Had she really said she had no complaints over his many talents?
The more he tried to stop himself from wanting to get closer to Elizabeth, the more he felt like they got closer together all the time. He just had no idea if she was interested.
