Chapter One: The Mysterious Stranger Part 1
BERLIN, GERMANY
In a gorgeous mansion in Berlin, many powerful and influential people mingled with one another. Discussing various things, whether be mundane as gossip or to something important as business. However, among the crowd of People, one woman stood out. She was a gorgeous 6"0 tall woman with silky raven hair and piercing blue eyes. She wore a red dress that showed off a lot of her legs and made her impressive bust more prominent.
This was Diana Prince, but she was better known to the world as Wonder Woman. An Amazon from the island of Thymercia.
Diana looked out into the night sky, reminiscing her childhood. She doesn't think about it often, but she had the odd moment here and there. She smiles, remembering the times her mother told her stories of their people. Gods she missed home, she would do anything to come back.
"Something bothering you madam?" A male voice asked behind her.
Diana turned to see a handsome man. He had slicked back brown hair and brown eyes. A trimmed stubble adorned his face. He wore a black suit with a dark gray tie. Diana felt her chest tightened at the sight of this man.
She quickly shook this feeling and recomposed herself. "No, not really." Diana said, before looking back at the stars. "Reminiscing about home is all."
The man smiled softly. "I know that feeling." He said as he stood next to her, looking at the stars too.
"You know, it's still amazing how the world continues to surprise us." The man spoke suddenly.
"What makes you say that?" Diana asked.
"Well, for starters, the sudden arrival of the heroes." The man replied.
Diana perked a brow up. "Is that a bad thing?"
"No, I'm actually happy that many men and women are rising up to do what's right." The man said. He then blinked before turning to Diana. "Where are my manners?" He then extended a hand towards her. "Peter Parker." He spoke with a smile.
Diana smiled before she shook his hand. "Diana Prince." She introduced herself.
"Mind if I ask the lady for a dance?" He asked smoothly as he got up from the balcony. Once again extended his hand out to her.
Diana smiled. "You may." She then took his hand.
For the next five hours, the two had danced the night away. Diana didn't know why, but this stranger made her feel comfortable, made her feel safe. No one had managed to invoke this feeling inside of her. Not even her own mother. She and Peter soon made their way out once the party started to disperse.
"Thank you for the wonderful night, Mister Parker." Diana said. She stood in front of her car as Peter had escorted her there.
"It's no problem. Besides, I can't let a beautiful woman such as yourself wander the streets at night." Peter said.
"I can take care of myself." Diana said in a joking manner.
"I know you can." Peter chuckled. He then opened the door, allowing Diana to enter. She stepped halfway inside before stopping to face Peter again.
"I hope to see you again, Mister Parker." Diana said with a smile.
"As do I, Miss Prince." Peter gave her his own smile.
Diana smiled as she got into her car. "Oh, and tell Hippolyta that I said hello."
Diana's eyes suddenly went wide open as she rapidly got out of the car. However, as soon as she did, Diana found Peter to be gone. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to find the man. Sadly she couldn't find a sign of him. Who was he? How did he know her mother? She let out a sigh, she'll have to contact the league about this.
THREE DAYS LATER, GOTHAM CITY, USA
In an auction house in Gotham City, many of the wealthy elite gathered to purchase many expensive items. One of the attendees was Gotham's most eligible bachelors, Bruce Wayne. Wrapped around his arms was a beautiful woman; this was Selina Kyle.
"I'm flattered you invited me to join you for a night out in the town Bruce. Though, I think bringing me to an auction house was a bad call." Selina said as she and Bruce made their way to the buffet table. The short haired woman eyed the products that were displayed. A gleeful and greedy gleam filled her eyes as she did.
Bruce noticed this and simply shook his head. "Maybe but if I'm being honest, you being here with me makes this whole event better." He shot back.
"Flatterer." Selina smiled as she gave Bruce a kiss. They soon broke apart. Selina's smile soon disappeared as her face grew stern. "So, what's the real reason you invited me?"
Bruce raised a brow and tried to feign innocence. "I don't know what you mean?"
"Bruce, you don't invite people to these kinds of events for the hell of it. So, what is the deal, Mafia planning a counterfeit scam? Joker planning to rob the place? Which is it?" She looked Bruce straight in the eye. Waiting for his reason for all of this.
Bruce sighed, she knew him too well. "You're half-right. I had planned for us to enjoy the auction but a strange coincidence happened." Bruce explained.
"What do you mean?" Selina asked.
Bruce simply wrapped his arm around her waist and gently turned her with him. Selina was confused as to what Bruce was doing until she saw it. There in the center of the room, was a red stone that shone brightly. The stone glimmered despite the fact that there wasn't any light directed at it.
"See that?" Bruce asked.
"The big glowing red rock? Yes." Selina replied.
"That's the red stone of Camelot. Said to contain incredible power." Bruce explained.
"And giving the life you and I live, I'm guessing it's the real deal." Selina deduced.
"Yes." Bruce said.
"And you want to get the stone before anyone else." Selina added.
"That's the plan." Bruce finished.
"Well, best of luck to you Mister Wayne." A male voice caused Selina and Bruce to turn around. They saw a man in a dark gray suit and brown hair, clean shaven. Bruce narrowed his eyes, recognizing him as the man Diana had encountered three days ago. Peter Parker. Said man happened to own the largest multi-trillion dollar tech company in the world; Parker Industries.
Peter turned to Selina and offered a hand. "And you must be Bruce's lady love, Selina Kyle, pleasure to meet you."
"Likewise." Selina said as she hesitantly shook his hand. She was aware that this man knew who Wonder Woman was, Bruce told her that much. She's worried that he may know who they were.
"Long way from New York aren't you Mister Parker?" Bruce asked. He still held his suspicious gaze on the man.
"What, I can't come over to Gotham to enjoy the auction?" Peter asked with a joking smile.
"No, just never peg you for the type of man to enjoy these things." Bruce said.
"Eh, first time for everything." Peter shrugged. He turned his gaze from the couple and to the stone. His eyes subtly hardened at the sight. The subtle action didn't go unnoticed by Bruce, which made his suspicions grow more.
Peter closed his eyes and took a deep breath, he smiled once more. "Enjoy the auction, Mister Wayne." Peter cut the conversation abruptly and left. Not before grabbing a glass of champagne.
Bruce and Selina watched the man blend into the crowd.
"So that's the guy who knew Wonder Woman's secret identity." Selina asked, though it was more of a statement than a question.
"Yes." Bruce replied. He still held his gaze at the crowd Peter went in. However, to his surprise, Bruce couldn't spot him. Bruce deduced he was highly trained in stealth, which made him more suspicious. He exhaled in slight frustration before he turned to Selina.
"I think we should get ready for the auction." Bruce and Selina prepared for the auction.
LATER
Hours had passed as the auction had gone underway. Many items had gone out to be sold. Soon, the auction was coming to a close and the last item was being brought out.
"Alright ladies and gentlemen, it is time to bring out our final item for the evening." The auction host said.
The assistant rolled the case into view. Inside of the case was the red stone. "The Red Stone of Camelot!" The crowd looked at the stone in awe. Bruce and Selina however, looked at the stone with great intensity. Both of them were on a mission to retrieve the stone. "It is said that Merlin himself used this very stone to defeat Morgana Le Fey."
Bruce and Silena heard a snort, they turned to see Peter behind them. The two noticed that he was holding in his laughter. Bruce raised a brow at this, did Parker know about the stone and its history? He needed to investigate.
"We will start the bidding at 20 million." The auction host stated as the bidding had finally started.
"25 million!"
"40 million!"
"80 million!"
"100 million!"
"150 million!"
"200 million!"
"250 million!"
Bruce watched as many men and women placed their bids on the stone. "500 million!" He exclaimed. Everyone in the room became silent and looked at the CEO of Wayne Enterprises. Bruce slightly smiled as he noticed that no one placed a higher bid. He had this in the bag.
"10 billion!"
The room became even quieter as one Peter Parker placed his bid. Even Bruce and Silena were stunned. Was he really bidding that much for a stone?!
"10 billion going once! Twice! Sold for 10 billion!" The announcer shouted as he smacked the gavel on the podium, signifying the bid is over.
MUCH LATER
Once the auction had ended, many of the bidders stayed around for the after-party.
Peter didn't join in as he mostly stared at the case in his hands. The red stone inside gleamed brightly. A feeling of familiarity filled Peter's mind. Once again he had to deal with these things.
"Congratulations on your bid Mr. Parker." Peter turned to see Bruce Wayne approaching him.
"Ah, Mr. Wayne." Peter greeted. He gently placed the box down onto the table.
"Thank you, I have actually been looking for this stone for a long time." Peter admitted.
"Really now?" Bruce was surprised, though in reality he was just playing dumb in order to get more information from him.
"Yes, the history behind this stone is quite fascinating." Peter said.
"I'm sure." Bruce said. "It was said that not only did it belong to Merlin but it also fell in the ownership of others as well. Like Julius Caesar, and Queen Cleopatra for example. It's as you said yourself, the stone itself is quite interesting."
Peter chuckled. "It is interesting. Though it's not as interesting as to why a guy who dresses as a bat every night is so interested in it." Peter said light-heartedly before his tone became serious at the end. Though he didn't say it loud enough for anyone but Bruce to hear.
Bruce tensed at this and narrowed his eyes. "I have no idea what you're talking about." He tried to deny what Peter said but he knew it wouldn't work.
Peter simply sighed before leaning in his ear. "Let me give you some advice Mr. Wayne. There are things in this world that need to be forgotten. This stone is one of them." He whispered before he grabbed the box and proceeded to leave. Not before he turned to Bruce and bid farewell that is. "Have a nice night Mr. Wayne."
Bruce watched as Peter Parker walked away, disappearing into the crowd. A scowl adorned his face as his fist tightened. He knew who he was, he knew who Diana was, and most likely he knew the identities of the rest of the Leaguers.
Bruce let out a frustrated sigh, he needed to contact the League for an emergency meeting.
ELSEWHERE
Peter took a sip of his whiskey as he overlooked the Gotham City skyline from his penthouse. To think that such a beautiful sight happened to be one of the most crime ridden places in the world. Placing the whiskey down, Peter took a deep breath as he walked towards one of the paintings he had on the wall. He pulled it to the side, revealing the wall, however he placed his hand onto a secret scanner. After scanning the hand print and verifying its validity, the wall opened up to reveal a secret safe. Inside the safe was the red stone that Peter had purchased. The red hue it gave off illuminated the room slightly. Next to that stone was another stone. This one however, was blue and it glowed as well.
"Two down, four to go." Peter said before he closed the safe.
