Hyperdimension Neptunia
Third Sister; Darkness
Chapter 13.2 POV-Silicon Knight
Phantom Crusaders VS Special Ninja.
Both Leader and Acclaim have left the battlefield. I think it is better we take our leave as well. We are running out of small targets, and these monsters aren't in our job description.
"Lion, can you teleport us to the east?", I ask her.
She just nods and does as she is told. I think she knew what to do without me telling her. Strange… Oh well.
We managed to get out of the battlefield, but not without leaving a trail behind.
"Just blow some things up in the distance so they come and attack us.", I tell her.
She gives me a glance, now she looks forward and gets to casting explosion magic a couple of times.
"For the record, you aren't just doing as you're told, right? You just know why you do these actions, right?", I ask her.
"Bit of both. I trust all of you. But…I also remember what we are meant to do.", Theresa says.
"As long as you don't blindly follow orders.", I say, a bit under my breath.
I know Theresa is just used to follow every order without question. I don't really care if she does everything we say perse, but I worry she doesn't take herself or her own thoughts into consideration. I mean, what if we end up being assholes? I certainly don't want to be anyone like those guys that messed with her. I don't want our relation to be that of master and servant, not only is that weird, I'd hate to make her feel like a pawn.
Either way, we take our time jogging forward. It took a good ten minutes for us to be in the middle of a war-zone. Of course, it is now us two against a couple thousand ninja. We have learned to deal with their hordes last month. Honestly, It is a little boring now. Especially with Theresa blasting them away with spells and still 45 charger 2s left to use. I do feel bad for her, even with infinite SP, it's not like doing huge spells repeatedly isn't exhausting.
A hundred fire balls are shot towards us from their Katon Spell, Theresa just summons a Giant Green Tornado that eats every flame turning into an inferno. She made the inferno implode and left a few thousand small spheres of flame into the air. She plunges her staff down like it was a great sword and drops a shower of a thousand flames onto the ninja army. When they cast Raiton, I just use the lightning conductive String so it would take that electricity like a lightning rod. Hehe, I remember when electricity was my weak spot. But now I have learned to include switches in my mechanical armor to make sure I don't get electrocuted myself. They didn't dare use Suiton knowing the enemy mage is powerful. Even Hyuton and Futon won't be used knowing how meaningless it is.
Aerial and underground attacks are all they have left. Some of them dug underneath Theressa, trying to get to her. I don't know how magic works, but we've discussed our strategies before, and I know Theresa either keeps a teleportation spell or barrier spell ready every minute for emergency's sake. She said they wouldn't be as strong, but who cares? She just teleports away from a few grappling ninja. Up in the sky, she aims her wand down at the few dozen ninja on the ground.
"Great Explosion!", the explosion came from under the ground, blowing the ninja sky high with a patch of the earth. She almost hit me with the residue, I actually hopped forward in reaction to its wind.
"Hey! Watch out!", I shout at her. But as always, no one cares what I say.
Not that we are at odds with each other. She got so high up because she knows I can bring her back down with string, we clearly trust each other.
While I prepare a net to catch her in, ninja drop down from their kites charging straight at me screaming "WOOOOOOOOOO". They must think the explosion affects me, but I am used to stupid things happening to me now. Catching them into my string and knocking them into each other has become child's play. Their dexterity allowed them to escape at first, but my own speed has increased and Chunin are a joke to me now. I slam them onto the ground, with assistance from Theresa shooting casual air-blasts at them.
I pull her on the net, allowing her a safe landing. She jumps off in front of me to cast a new spell. We are under many different projectile attacks at once.
"Great Ice Wall!", she shouts as she enacts a towering wall of ice in front of us. It's not like the attacks weren't breaking through, but she wants this to happen. It is a set up for her next attack. A magical circle appears around her.
Three white circles surround her want as she thrusts it forward.
"Prism Rain!", she shoots a beam at the cracked wall, its million pieces reflect the beam of light and shoots a rain of light at the ninja that pierces through them. I had to look away for a bit, without sun glasses it hurts my eyes. I hear a thud and look to my right, she is on her knee.
"Why don't you rest for a bit. I am bored after all.", I tell her that to sound cool. Saying I am worried about her would annoy her and make me look soft. We can't have that now, can we?
I Dig two of my strings into the ground and put pressure on them by walking backwards. It kind of hurts my legs to hold onto this much weight, but it is necessary.
I look over to Theresa and ask, "Can you give me a boost?"
She takes a breath and says, "Yeah."
"Air Blast!", she shouts, shooting me forward with wind as I release my grip from the string. I get flung over to the few ninjas running my way and I blow them away with a swipe of my sword, at the same time, I catch one of them with the string that is shot out from said sword.
I take him for a spin before throwing him into even more enemies. Some shoot me with modern weapons, but most projectiles I can catch within a web of string and fling back at them.
"Doton!", I hear not far in the distance.
A really big guy runs my way covering himself in an armor of earth.
"String Cutter!", I shout whipping him with string coming from my sword. Its sharpness combined with my strength stat easily splits his armor off of him.
He must be quite tough, but I can't help but think I am twice his level, maybe even more. Without his armor, I can easily cover him in string. I jump over him and pull him into the air with a flip. At the end of my flip, I slam him down on more ninja.
After my landing, I am wrapped around in rope and string.
They must've planned this thinking to fight fire with fire.
I can't help but chuckle. This really does put a smile on my face. As they move forward pulling on their string and rope, they are ready to dogpile me.
But in the end, my skills are unparalleled. I think we've beaten their best string user a while ago, I think he was a commander?
Either way, with my mechanical armor, I can unleash string and wrap it around theirs, allowing me to regain control. Then I use my special technique.
"Sp Skill…", I say, for in the next moment, they are now wrapped up by their own string and rope, I hold them on a leash with my own string.
I pull them upwards and towards me with a jump.
For the finish, I dash behind them, having cut them many times at blinding speeds shouting, "Reverse-String Cut!" This is a skill I have officially learned to use with SP thanks to Acclaim fighting with me often using my string against me.
Now that I am down here, a few more ninja walk up to me, very slowly. I see, they must be Jonin. The rank that allows you to become a commander I think. Was a Commander at least level 50? A special Ninja is the only thing stronger. Some Red Ninjas are Jonin as well.
The first thing they do is collectively throw flames at me using, "Katon!" I let my string pull me to my left to avoid that attack, but before I can even land, they cast "Doton!" They planned to launch me into the air and strike me down with whatever spell they can muster, but screw them, I am basically Arachnidman. I throw myself down at them using two strings shot down. The ninja in the middle used Stealth Speed to escape my plunge attack. The surrounding ninja back off with hops, though I did manage to catch one in my string, he quickly cut it off and escaped.
As they move around and try to attack me, I try to entangle all of them, but they have much better coordination, perception, and not to mention they know exactly how to cut through these strings. Even the silicon that is slash resistant are cut, they know those string usually use the strength of the opponent to harden themselves, if they are rubbed gently pressed by a blade, they get cut easily. They have enough experience to know that. Hehe… Now it gets fun.
Then again, it is only still fun because I know I can win.
All of them use dual ninja blades, they were rather wide, and their tips had aggressive curves.
The first one thrust his right blade forward, I easily deflect it, but the first was a feint for their swing of their left, however, with my parry I had already wrapped his right wrist with string, and with a backwards jump, I pull his right arm next to his left arm. His swords clang together, cancelling his assault. I try to hit him with a strike, but he retreats with Stealth Speed.
In his stead, two appear in front of me, they are rather close to each other, so with their attacks, I used string to force them forward, getting them to bump into each other.
I can't counter-attack however, for another ninja jumps from my right trying to slash me. I hop out of his way. Now to my left, he turns around, I am ready to slash him. Thinking he can take it with a slash from both blades swung at the same time, he gets knocked far back from my right to left upper swing.
I had reinforced my sword with string, letting the string pull my sword forward. Not having seen it coming, his arms aren't able to take the recoil, letting me capture him with my string and knock him out with a blow to the head.
With that attack, I pull my sword back a little to block an attack from another ninja. He doesn't know merely pushing against my sword allows it to wrap his hands with silk. I fling him into a ninja that came to my right.
In the meantime, another ninja had circled around my right and tried to attack me from behind my right, I pull myself away from him with string using my left hand and sway my sword his way with my right. He tries to dodge it, but with my sword low on the ground, I entangle his feet. He tries to cut it off, but I already pulled him behind my back. Even with the string cut, he still flies into a friend who also sneaked up behind me.
I quickly deflect a few attacks from two ninja whilst pacing back, then I notice some hand signs from third ninja between them.
After shooting some string to the first guy I knocked out, I pulled him in front of him to use him as a human shield that takes the fire ball for me. Those Katon Spells are no joke. Um… I hope he lives, we are supposed to not kill them after all. Either way, I throw him into another ninja the next moment.
A few more ninja try attacking from the left, they think they could quickly attack me with Stealth Speed, but my string will always catch them. Even if they can cut through, they would have to waste time, allowing me to know their position and run back. A few of them now run after me, full into the attack. They are a bit more careful. I assume they are about level 40? The are quite tough, but even if they can stop my string from wrapping around them, they need to waste every second cutting it in order to continue fighting.
Their slashes will never hit me, and they are bound to mess up somewhere, allowing me to pull one blade into another, or even have a ninja run into one next to them, the best ones are when I get to have them accidentally hit each other.
I see one of them dash forward at full speed all of a sudden. Even ignoring all the string he could get entangled in. I remember that there was one ninja who dodged my plunge attack. Was he waiting for me? Sorry, I have just become so cool these last few months.
In front of me and behind me they do a mirrored motion where they try to stab the sides of my neck, they aren't thrusting their blades straight forward, it is more of a hook attack they each did. I just let the string guide the front ninja's arm to his friend behind me, he gets stabbed instead. The pain must've made his arm tremble, I could easily dodge it. Now I attach his arm to the front ninja's.
I kick the ninja in front of me, which pulls the string on the back ninja's hands. This is to get him off balance, I duck so he can fall on my back, then I push him over me with my elbow. Looking forward, I see one ninja suddenly dig into the ground. He used some kind of Doton Spell to make himself sink into the earth. If I know my Naruto right, he is going to appear straight below me in less than a second.
I jump back and pull the formerly 'back ninja' towards the ninja that was underground. He slams himself into his friend, now all three are in the air. I wrap them around in string, even if they can cut it, they would still have to unknot themselves from each other. Gives me the time to attach one more string to them. From the sky, I slam them into some of their friends. One final ninja jumps me, and I just pull myself away. Once he is in my prior position, I snap my fingers and say, "String Clutter" All the weapons and explosives dropped on the battle field all get flung towards him with string, doing plenty of damage.
I thought I could feel satisfied with my victory, but most of them just get up.
I sigh. "How annoying.", I mumble.
"I've got better things to do.", I tell them.
…
…
Nothing really happened the last half hour.
I still beat the Jonin with the same strategies. Theresa and I take turns just mowing down ninja. Sometimes a few Jonin show up again. And everything just kind of repeats until there weren't much left willing to fight us.
Hm…I remember Wolf hiding me in a plane that crashed down quite some time ago… Oh. What if we used it to storm their base?!
"Hey, Lion?", I call to her, getting her attention.
"Do you know of the crashed plane a bit further north-east?", I ask her.
She shakes her head. "Is it relevant?", she asks me.
"Well, you see. We are exhausting ourselves. But we would be more helpful if we could both move fast and mow down enemies at the same time.", I tell her.
She nods. Without a word, she waits for me to say more. The silence feels a bit awkward.
"So, what if we took that plane. You could cast some fire spells on it, and I can hold it together with string. Your spell will be used like a booster jet thing, and I can steer it with string. We'll crash into their army!", I tell her my badass awesome totally cool idea.
She looks a bit confused and asks me, "But shouldn't we look for special ninja?"
"And they will certainly come with how much attention we bring with a flaming plane!", so I say enthusiastically. I mean, how can she not like this plan.
She says, "You're so silly…Silly-san…" But she looks at the direction I pointed at, where the plane is. And I see her smile…I see her legs wiggle a little. She definitely imagined it and is kind of excited.
"Let's go then.", I say.
"Humu. We should move quickly. It would be a shame if the fight was over before we could do this.", she says.
She then looks at me slightly red in the face, "Because I want to be useful! Not because it is a good plan!"
I don't know whether to call that a contradiction, but I know she is just as excited as I am.
"All right. Without wasting more of your stamina. Allow me to get us there.", I say as I squad down.
"Get on my back.", I order her with a friendly tone.
She looks at me curious, and without changing her expression, she gets on.
I jump in the air and propel myself forward.
"Yee-haw! Let's get moving!", I say as I swing all around at high speed. Even Theresa couldn't help but make a small delighted squeal. We zigzagged across the field of giant pitfalls. Did the ninja do this? We did fight in some of these at that weird place…But do so many exist naturally? That's just crazy. Not that I care, that plane is in view and I am just too excited.
The ground becomes a bit more flat when getting near the plane. I that a pitfall over there? No, this one doesn't go as deep. Maybe a crater left by the plane? But the plane is crashed at the edge, though…
"Yo, Lion. What do you think happened over there?", I ask as we go down.
Theresa jumps off my shoulder. Then she looks over. I hear her murmer…
"They probably searched the plane for valuables…Maybe they moved it?", she says.
"Moved it from the crash-site? But with their powers, wouldn't it make more sense to obliterate or dig the plane into a hole? Considering they want everything hidden and all. I mean, come on, we were stuck in infinite illusion trap maze land because of how shy they are.", I tell her. I just find it funny the ninja so worried about secrets would just let this slide.
"Hm…The plane crashed probably because it was flying close to their home-base. Maybe a mistake was made?", Lion mentioned.
"So they just killed everyone inside?! Man…The ninja are savages.", I say half-joking.
"Aren't they the bad guys? Doesn't it make sense?", Theresa asks me.
Well I can't stand them at least. They have been bothering us…But…
"Well, Leader said most of them aren't bad guys perse.", I say, still having a hard time thinking about it. "Argh!", I let out a frustrated cry before continuing, "It's annoying to think about it. Did they have a good reason? Did they even kill them? Were they wrong, evil? I just want to beat enemies up and not think, dang.
Me and Theresa enjoy a conversation about moral relativism. Some good people do bad things because they have to, I guess. But wouldn't that still make them bad? I was a bad guy too, and got better? Can they get better? Would they given the chance?
Well, those were nice thoughts, but I prefer simple reality. And right now, a monster appears in front of us. And nothing is as simple as a monster hunt.
A blue mammoth-like monster runs our way. It looks disgusting! Like its fur has been plucked out multiple times! Something is glowing from his hindlegs…Is he mechanical? His giant tusks are intimidating, but it makes my job easier. I hold my hands out and shoot string. The string I shoot from multiple mechanical parts that I wear cover a wide area, but on top of that, they have different nuzzles, these ones have a metal device that shoots even more string from the sides, making it easy to create a net even if there are no walls nearby.
What string I use is determined by my use of SP. Most string I generate comes from my SP after all. These ones are oiled. The mammoth gets stuck I my net and I wrap it around with more oiled up string from my fingers. As I have my hands holding the silk tightly, I have Theresa cast her magic.
"Extension!", Theresa shouts setting the ropes on fire with non-SP high level fire magic. As it is squirming in that blazing heat, I jump onto my makeshift catapult of string.
"Lion, send me flying.", I say that excited to go through this monster.
"Air Blast.", she says before casting wind magic that shoots me off this catapult. With my sword forward, I go through this mammoth like an arrow. But I don't think fights should end in one move, so I have another stage planned. I shot string out whilst I was flying through the monster, creating a web I can throw my sword into.
"Projectile Netweb!", I shout as my sword flies in and out of the mammoth bouncing off the many strings in this web surrounding it, while I create string I can land on and jump off of.
The friction force helps me get high in the air, I will time it with my sword being shot up. Once I get close, I catch it before kicking my feet into another string. "Spider Stinger!", I shout as I am catapulted into the back of the mammoth, my last attack dispersing it into data.
From a squat, I get back up and rest my sword on my right shoulder.
I relax myself with a sigh before looking at Theresa and telling her, "Are these enemies not as impressive as they look, or are we that much stronger now?"
Theresa smiles at my question. She rubs her hand along her wand and says, "It would be nice if it is because we got stronger."
Whenever I look at her smile, I just feel joy. Maybe she reminds me of my younger sister? As an older brother, I just feel like I need to entertain her too… Now, we should get serious.
I look at the plane and say, "We are close. We shouldn't waste more time. Leader is counting on us, after all."
Theresa nods with a look of fixation. We both feel the same at the moment.
We conserve a little of our stamina by walking towards it. I would be lying if I said constantly web swinging around and then fighting a mammoth at full power isn't exhausting me a little.
There is a small drop to the wide crater the plane is leaning in on. We slide down before moving towards the plane. It casts a pretty big shadow. Actually, damn that plan is fricking big. It is three times the size of a passenger plane.
Once we got close to a hole that we could get into, I hear the sound or something spinning in the wind. I instinctively weave a wall of threads to block whatever is coming, but it cuts through it and are about to hit me. They are shuriken? But they don't like they are made of any material? Oh? I see, thanks to Theresa's barrier, the projectiles got blocked. But they just broke down into droplets? What are they?
There is no time to ponder, a girl just jumps down from the plane and is about to attack Theresa. I try to stop her with my string, and while I got her to cancel her attack, she could easily escape my bind and jumped just a few meters behind the area the pane's nose is pointing at. I see her standing next to another black figure.
These two are certainly ninja. One is a smug looking girl, the other is…A robot? It's design reminds me of this one frog Pocketed Monstrosity.
"See, I told you we would find the Phantom Crusaders out here.", the girl says.
"My lady. We tailed them here wondering what their plan was. Remember?", the mecha frog asks.
"Wouldn't it be cooler if we were just waiting expecting them to be here?", the girl asks him, slightly annoyed.
"Wouldn't it make us look a little stupid if we thought that? There is nothing but this plane here.", the machine-like thing responds to her.
"Either way. I've been waiting to fight you in a nicer location. Isn't this place perfect for a duel?", The girl asks us.
"Oh sure, it is perfect alright.", I tell them. Our job is to defeat a special ninja each, so this is perfect I guess. But I am a bit worried about damaging the plane…
"If we beat you two, our quota is met!", I tell them.
"I see, so your plan was to fight us…", she was talking with her nose raised, until she blinks a few times and asks me puzzled, "Wait, then why are you here?"
Don't say that like you didn't just start this conversation telling us you expect us to go find some random freaking plane!
"My lady, they might've wanted to use the plane for an advantage.", the mecha frog says.
Damn it! If they find out, they will certainly demolish it!
She looks over to the plane and makes a "Hm…", sound.
"We were planning to use my magic to create a jet, and with his string we would steer it into the village.", Theresa says.
Theresa! You can't just betray me like that!
The girl looks impressed and says, "Wow, that sound kind of sick. Maybe I should try doing that. All right, let's promise not to damage this plane."
This girl is dumb like me. Maybe we could've been friends.
"My lady. It would be easier if we just broke the plane for-", the frog mecha gets cut off by her as she scolds him, "Don't break technology! Every bit of it is precious, especially if they are used for cool things!"
"Yes my lady.", the frog mecha says to her.
"Anyway…", she says, holding her hands in her sides and looking back at me, she tells us, "We're going to kill you two. So this idea is going to be mine now. We don't have to worry about preventing you taking this thing."
Theresa already stands ready to fight, even then, I must say, "Alright, Lion. These two are strong. Let's give it our A game."
"My name is Oichi Yatterman, and my friend, Gekkouga. And in the name of the shadows, we will punish you!", she declares.
Hey! Ninja are suppose to be secretive! Stop shouting!
Name: Oichi Yatterman.
Age: 15
Height: 150 CM
Occupation: Ninja, engineer
Nation of Residence: Planeptune.
Oichi is a slender young lady with color gradient hair, black being her main color and blonde being the secondary one, probably dyed. Her white outfit has pink colors around the long sleeves. She wore an odd rendition of a kimono, it was more like an open coat, once hitting her midriff, the cloth cuts off into something cape-like that covers the back of her legs.
Underneath she wears a tight white skinsuit with a modest pink heart pattern. And what is she wearing over her legs? These baggy clothing that covers the lower legs held up by a red ring-like thing under he knees? They have some artwork of different shades of pink burned in. The lower part is tucked into her high-heeled red boots. On top of her knees are these big red heart shaped ornaments. The top of her hair is tied under a red ribbon with silver pins and a white medal with a pink Y where the top part of the latter is very stretched out burned into it. On top of that, she's wearing a red mask that is actually a very long band tied around her head. And finally, she wore red gloves with white hearts engraved into them.
Name: Gekkouga
Age: 5
Height: 150 CM.
Occupation: Ninja, Oichi's servant.
Nation of Residence, same as Oichi.
Gekkouga is a black machine with glowing white-blue eyes, it feels like I am staring at the element of cold itself. He has many silver linings and decorations around its black metal. He was shaped like humanoid frog. It wears a purple scarf around its neck and a purple mask that is very worn. It somehow looks both bulky and slender, just in different areas. Maybe to give it easy movability and defense at the perfect spots? There are a lot of slits and ports designed into it. Which would make it an ideal target for me, but I have a feelings getting my string stuck inside it leads to more problems.
The fight starts with Gekkouga dashing towards me. I figured he would be my enemy. I just hope Theresa has better luck with that girl.
To match his speed, I shoot strings into the ground ahead of me to pull myself over then surface, increasing my momentum with each pull. I thought I would straight up crash into him with a strike, but I ended up hitting smoke. I did see him move away from the corner of my eye. I stop to think, Was that a clone?
With one hand-sign, Gekkouga surrounds me with five clones.
This is bad. Even if I can deal with many foes thanks to string, this guy looks like he can easily cut through them. Oh, I guess I don't need to be afraid. The moment I spread out my threads, they hit into the clones, who were all taking a leap at me, and they have all disappeared. They aren't shadow clones, meaning no magic to keep them pseudo-physical.
Gekkouga creates these kunai-like knives made of water, but I can block it doing a counter-slash with ease. My string gets over his arms, but he spouts water out of his body parts that cuts through he string.
All the gaps inside his body can emit water at many different pressures. My string will not hold him for long until I have disabled that function. I can only think to use electricity to damage him…But…Wait, that girl isn't fighting Theresa?!
I check the network of webs I have made, I can see some strings being pulled ever so slightly. I hear someone jump my way, and then I turn to see Oichi behind me.
Whatever she was planning to do, she gets stopped by Theresa casting various weaker wind magics. She had to stop herself to jump back, alongside evasive maneuvers, she does some weird tricks with a Kendama to redirect the wind. Yes, a Kendama…A toy. I feel slightly insulted, at the same time, I have other things to worry about.
Gekkouga isn't going to stop attacking me, he runs my way ready for an assault. Except, he too, backs off once a big wall of fire surrounds me. It curves until it can be burst into a beam of flames. Theresa as the caster is about to blast him with an inferno, only for Oichi to jump in front of it. That girl must be nuts, who the heck jumps in front of flames and thinks to live? Actually, that frog robot is no better, he was just standing there relaxed?! He might have fire resistance, though.
Then the crazy thing happens. What the hell?!
The giant inferno big enough to swallow a house whole just gets absorbed into her Kendama.
The next second, Theresa used her quick teleport to appear next to Oichi's left flank, She swings her wand into a thrust aimed at her shouting, "Explosion!"
Oichi jumps away from it, the residue must've hurt her a bit, but she is still keeping up a grin. On the other hand, Gekkouga is running for Theresa. I grab one of his hands before he could get to close, I say something cool like, "Hold up, Muchacho."
My cool line just gets ignored, but I have his attention, which is what I want. I can't let Theresa deal with a fast enemy. Gekkouga casually shoots a blade of water out of his thigh to undo the string and comes dashing at me.
"String Cutter!", I shout as I shoot a sharp thick string that I use as some kind of whip that can even slice steel. Gekkouga quickly sets up a few clones. My string ends up cutting three of them, the last one jumping over it.
That one must be the real one With that thought, I am of the mind to throw a box from inside the plane at him with string. But he disappears in smoke like a clone as well.
Not the real him?! Damn it. When leader does this trick she…usually comes from above!
I see that he is about to fling some shuriken at me. I see, they are made of water, giving them shape and sharpness with magic or something. I try to stop it with a web of strings, but they cut through with no pushback.
All I can do is hop around, as you'd expect, I get cut by a few passing by me.
I can hold this out for long, buddy! You better not think you're save up there!
It seems he can read minds, because to my shock, he summons his water kunai and does some kind of high speed spinning technique to get behind my back at the blink of an eye. Unfortunately for him, my leader does the blinding speed slashes all the time, I stepped aside and let him entangle himself with a lot of string I quickly shot out of every mechanism in my armor.
Before he gets the chance to cut it all, I fling him into the ground in front of me with a shoulder throw.
I might've hurt him a little, but he lands pretty well on his left hand and two legs. In the meantime, Theresa has been struggling getting a hit in on Oichi. No matter how fast she casts fire and lightning spells, Oichi just dodges it with playful mannerisms.
"Good, my friend is out of the way.", she says before releasing the ball from the Kendema's left cup.
The fire that was absorbed into it is now let out and send back to us.
My heart stops for a bit. We are cooked in the most literal sense. Well, I thought so, but I am happy to have teamed up with our uber mage.
She just casts, "Super Great Tornado!", and weaves the flames into a spiraling inferno of doom. Yeah it isn't coming directly to us…But Theresa! That thing can still hit us for massive damage! It seems she has some control over it, though. Maybe she can blow it back to them.
I suppose I should've figured the water using frog could counter it. He just raised himself off a pillar of water shot out of his body. Then he shouts, "Suiton! Surf!", and with a jump he creates some kind of wave that turns the fire into vapor. The clouds of steam covering the middle of the battlefield. For a ninja, this would be most advantageous. But I have an easy counter. Though, I am pretending to be calm, my nerves are a wreck. I have my string network out in full force, hoping to get a hint of where they attack.
Whenever I detect him, I smack him with a spin of my blade. There is no point in trying to cut him, my normal attacks aren't strong enough to tear through his metal. But like my network, this plan is full with holes. It doesn't take long for it to get used to my string and manage to sneak in a shallow cut, or just avoid it all together shooting shuriken my way. Simultaneously, I can hear Theresa trying to hit Oichi with fire combo spells.
After missing enough, she shoots a rush attack of "Light Comet!", an attack that shoots 12 small comets of light magic, but even this isn't enough, for that girl just sets the ball of her Kendama ablaze and swings it into the twelve comets dispersing them. On my end, after resisting his onslaught, the Gekkouga is doing a bunch hand signs. I tighten a barrier of threads to block whatever attack he is conjuring.
"Suiton! Hydro Pump!", he shouts.
Wait. These are just Pocketed Monstrosities moves!
The high pressured water he shoots out cuts and passes through my barrier of string. It pushes my into the edge of the crater. As I lie down in this shattered drop off, I feel the droplets that rain down after all of that water had kind of burst into rain. As I lean forward, I see Theresa cast "Great Explosion!" But I only saw a huge spark with no boom coming after it. Did that girl steal it again?
It doesn't just absorb flames, but any spell? I am just glad Theresa prepared a teleportation circle to warp back to the start position using the quick teleport spell, she avoids the explosion spell being thrown back at her. Looking at the smoke cloud moving with the steam cloud after explosion's release, I notice it isn't the full version of the spell. She absorbed the essence of the spell but couldn't properly replicate it? It's like effects of the explosion was just thrust forward like a flamethrower, smoke and all.
Oichi walks out of the smoke with a playful strut. When locking eyes with Theresa, she runs forward.
"Thunderbolt.", she casts lightning bolt combo moves at Oichi, she can jump aside a few, and sometimes, she can use the rubber ball of the Kendama to cancel out the lightning strike, but it is clear she is unable to absorb a spell that fast.
"You aren't that tricky to deal with. Let me show you a neat trick!", Oichi says. With the sound of the rubber ball clapping into the right cup, she vanished in an instance.
Knowing I could maybe have my string help, I struggle to get back up. I almost fall over on my gut, but I push myself to get up.
When I get close to a sprint, I see Theresa's look of fear turn into a calm one.
She figured something out?
With a magical ring of the ice element on her left hand and a ring of the fire element on her wand, she aims the ice magic up and fire magic down. With their release, the temperature around her changes.
Immediately, Oichi is revealed. She looks with wide eyes.
I get it. She quickly realized it was the same trick Leader uses. Oichi used some kind of spell to change the temperature, creating a mirage that makes her invisible. It must be advanced, because it was instant. Theresa was naturally able to tell for her knowledge in magic.
Without flinching, she sticks her wand into a large magical circle around her and shouts, "Ice Coffin!", unleashing a wave of ice that knocks Oichi back.
I see her wince for a second, but Oishi quickly returned to her smile as she thrusts the ball of the Kendama towards the icicles, wrapping around one to spin herself around the spike, from there, she hurls herself towards Theresa. Okay, now I know I must step in. I shoot a string from my left arm and curve it to the left to catch Oichi's leg, this alone has her miss a shot of her ball, then I throw her to the ground elsewhere. Oh man, I wish I could follow up on that, but that frog thing is running at me with haste.
"Sp Move… Great Thunderbolt!", Theresa attempts to shock it. It would make sense for it to be weak to lightning. But then…
"Doton!", using earth ninjutsu magic, he shoots himself into the lightning, completely unaffected by it. Worse, he shoots hardened balls of mud at us both before landing back down.
Lightning has no effect? Even if the metal were lightning proof, he is filled to the brim with water. I doubt he can just take a giant thunderbolt like that.
Either way, he is coming straight at me.
Now looking at him closely, his eyes are glowing brown now? Why?
I stop his kunai with a few parries, then I try to catch them out of his hands with string, but he lets go of them voluntary.
"Taijustsu! Brick Break!", he shouts as he shatters my string with a karate chop that sends me flying. For a second, his eyes changed to a dark red color.
I immediately see Theresa retaliate with "Air Blast!", and I see it actually shoving Gekkouga back, damaging it.
Weak to wind? How? I know monsters and such can have nonsensical weaknesses but…
I see Gekkouga making a B-line towards her.
"Wind Storm!" Theresa casts a human sized green whirlwind.
This time, Gekkouga keeps running whilst doing hand signs. He is just going to run into it?
"Hyoton, Icy Wind!", Gekkouga calls out his attack name, he releases cold ice from his body instead of water. But he is too far away to affect anyone in it.
Wait? He is unaffected by wind now?! I see him run through the wind storm. He was guarding himself with his arms, but that doesn't negate your elemental weakness. His eye color changed again to a cold blue…There must be a connection.
Theresa blocks a punch from Gekkouga, at the same time, Gekkouga's eyes had turned green, now he shouts, "Taijutsu…Aerial Ace!", and he twists his fist to shove Theresa's wand with an uppercut, allowing him to kick her a few dozen meters away.
Damn it! I must get to her!
I use string to propel me forward as fast as possible. But it would seem I have forgotten about Oichi. I hear her excited, "Oh no you don't! You can't chose your opponent after disrupting both of us!"
She tries to capture me with the string between her Kendama and the ball it is attached to. I stop to turn around and capture her black string with my own. I can pull her towards me and smack her, or so I would've liked. Somehow, my string lost control and she gets close to wrapping me around in her one string. I could only stop it by letting it take my right arm. Unfortunately, that allows her to pull my sword away whilst forcing herself forward.
"Hammer drive!", she shouts as she has her Kendama next to her neck. I anticipate a swing, I can duck under it easily. I dodge it. But somehow, I got hit on the side of my head anyway. The string lets go of my arm as I am knocked on the ground.
What just happened? I dodged it, I swear! How does such a small thing hit my head and shoulder at the same time anyway?
I heard Theresa call out to me, now I look over and I see her focus immediately shift on Gekkouga, for he barrages her with water shuriken.
They weren't strong enough to break through her barrier, at least.
"Thunderbolt!", Theresa's lightning attack is cancelled by Gekkouga using Doton to launch himself with the earth shooting itself out from beneath him, the lightning hits him, but he is unaffected. He runs around Theresa, shooting her with more water shuriken, forcing her to turn around and use a barrier to block them.
In the meantime, I am dealing with a brat who burns through my string with a ball of flame.
What is that Kendama of hers? It makes no sense at all. She swings it to her right to make the ball sweep over to me. I was sure I'd be able to dodge it, but she shouts, "Fuuton!", making the ball move at me at the speed of a bullet thanks to some kind of air explosion. It hits my side and hurts a bit.
"String Cutter!", I try to cleave her, I am just a bit angry at her fighting style, but of course, that doesn't work either. She just shouts "Doton!", and lets the ball take the hit. It became as tough as diamond, my sharp string being warded off.
She thrusts her ball at me, which I dodge, then she uses it as a grappling hook to hover over to me. She thrusts her Kendama forward shouting, "Spear drive!" I side-step it, but I feel something stabbed into me, kind of next to my stomach.
Meanwhile, Theresa tries to counter Gekkouga with magic in between using a barrier to protect her from his ranged attacks.
I assume the only reason he won't come closer is because of Theresa being able to cast neutral attacks that can damage him regardless.
Once Gekkouga uses an ice move again, I wrap him around with string, this string comes with oil dripped over it. I grab a lighter and set it ablaze. Immediately I get a glance from him. He stops everything to shout, "Katon!", and escape the string with fire.
I knew it! He changes his weaknesses based off the element he last attacked with!
I try to hop over to Theresa, completely forgetting Oichi has me on a leash, literally. I trip over and look up as I see her smiling down at me.
"Oi, you can't just run from me like that. How about I attack seriously? See the power of my Kendama!", she speaks with joy every time, doesn't she? She raises her Kendama, she hits the ball into the right cup. I suddenly see it charged with electricity.
"Thor's hammer!", she shouts, but no attack came after.
Theresa had used quick teleport, to move over to me. She manages to smack her in the face with a swing of her wand. I see, the cooldown on Quick Teleport is over and she probably figured no one, including me, would expect her to attack anyone physically. But her level is quite high now, even she can hit someone physically and make them feel it. It is the best surprise attack.
"You want to make it personal, ey? But up close, I am a lot stronger than you!", Oichi says so with utmost confidence. She brings her Kendama down, not even trying to hit her as she shouts, "Hammer Drive!"
Without hesitation, Theresa holds her staff up and shouts, "Explosion!", as she casts a weak explosion in the air. I see her doing a motion of getting hit by something.
"Ice Hold", Theresa says as she forces Oichi to hop back, still getting her legs frozen by the block of ice generated in front of her.
"Her Kendama is a magical weapon. Sili-san. You must let me handle her. I can learn its abilities.", Theresa says to me.
No time to dilly dally, I have to get up, Gekkouga is right behind us.
"Taijutsu! Aqua Jet!", he shouts as he speeds over here like a bullet covered in water. I block his fist with a wall of string. Before he can do anything, I bark at Theresa, "Lion! Shoot lightning into this web now!"
Without question, she turns around to hit the web with lightning.
"Doton!", Gekkouga was quick to use the earth to change his weakness to resist lightning, but even if he gets away from my string.
"Use ice now!", I shout, prompting Theresa to immediately cast, "Ice Coffin!"
Too quick for Gekkouga to use Katon or whatever, the ice blows him away doing good damage.
I think I get it. I completely understand now. He has the Protean ability.
"Lion. I know what his abilities are. Let's keep this fight separate. I will create an opening. It will be after he does a water move, that is when he is 200% weak to lightning, I will need you to hit him then.", I tell Theresa of my plan.
"Humu. I will hold off this lady. I can't defeat her, but I can outlast your fight. Sili-san.", Theresa replies to me.
I can't help but grin. I can only imagine victory now. Let's go!
I accelerate with string to slam my sword into Gekkouga.
With two water Kunai, he blocks me. I make sure to always attempt to tie his hands with string coming from my sword, and expectedly, he cuts himself free and retreats. Our battle is picking up in pace, I use my string to maneuver faster over the ground, avoiding his water shuriken in its entirety.
"Shadow Sneak!", he shouts, occasionally sneaking up from me after turning into a shadow that slithers through the ground. He would appear suddenly, but that won't stop me from blocking any attack he does.
Eventually, he merges his shuriken into a giant one. It looks easy to dodge, so I wasn't worried. But this attack actually had more destructive power to it, even if it lands in front of me, the wind blows me back regardless. And now he runs to me to do another attack. I block his kunai, but like last time, he drops his weapon to do martial arts.
"Aerial Ace!", he calls it, this time, I move to his right to avoid a punch. At the same time as I dodged it, I wrapped his arm with a large sum of string, pulling on it right after.
I found an opening and knock him away with a swing to the face, however, it was in return of him kicking me at the same time. A few dozen meters apart each other, I stare in his eyes who are glaring back at me.
He jumps at me, preparing to strike me with dual kunai made of water, I block both them and push Gekkouga back on the ground.
"Unton…Night Slash!", he says as his kunai gained a dark glow.
Unton? Wasn't that the extremely rare dark element?
I block his next attack and try to capture him with string. Maybe it was good I did, because it is now I realize this attack made some of his other moves hidden, my arms and strings are cut.
I jump back to gain some distance, but damn my arms hurt. I can barely see him leap at me.
But I hear, "Brick Break!", he is going to break through all string, the only guard I can hold up is my sword as he flings me over the ground.
"Unton! Dark Pulse!", he says as he fires some kind of wave of darkness at me. I cover myself with my arms, but it hurts! I don't know how a dark element even hurts. I feel fear? Cold?
Either way, I see him run to me with his eyes shining a black light.
If the color of his eyes reflect what element he currently is, does that mean he is darkness type right now? His eyes also changed when he did physical moves…Brick Break. Fighting type. Aerial Ace. Wind type? Or rather, flying type?
"String Cutter!", I shout with an attempt to hit him with a super sharp string whip.
"Unton! Feint Attack!", he shouts as he punches forward, until he disappears, the whip missing him completely.
I thought he just looked like a pocketed monstrosity. But…
If my knowledge of the game is correct, he would appear near me and punch me with the real attack.
I hold my arm out to block a punch from my right flank. My feet slide over the snow, but I am unharmed otherwise.
Darkness is weak to light. But if he follows the rules of that game on top of that his weakness would be…
I see him jump over me again with purple kunai. Another night slash.
With a strike from my sword, I occupy his hands, but I attacked only with my right hand. My right leg slides forward as I turn my left hip back and throw a punch at him with my mind thinking about martial arts. The result was him getting blown away like he was allergic to it.
Thank you, Leader, for showing us some martial arts moves. Even if they are basic.
Dark type was weak to fighting type. I can follow those rulesets to guess what he is weak to. That is why a simple punch hurt him more than a blow of my sword.
He jumps up in the air and barrages me with water shuriken.
Going back to this, huh?
I can out-move them now that I am used to them. Even if they cut my string, I have a good feeling of where they would land.
"Gunk Shot!", he shouts shooting some kind of waste out of his body. Is it maybe waste he creates from his energy source? And he uses that as a weapon. That is pretty sick.
I dodge it. It is bigger than it looked in the sky. It was acidic to the point of even corroding the ground beneath it. But I see it is releasing a toxin in the air. If I don't watch out, I will be pretty sick. I cover my nose and mouth with threads. The problem is filtering out the toxicity from oxygen. It's practically impossible to nullify poisonous air.
I look above me and see him swooping down towards me.
Poison types were weak to ground and psychic types, weren't they? The only thing that could count as ground would be String Clutter. But I need to pull some debris and items from the plane's insides first. I'll do that later. My next course of attack would be quick. Psychic damage. How would I do that.
"Your mom would be very disappointed in you if she knew you attacked a young little girl!", I shout at him.
I see him slowing down, so I continue, "You look as functional as a windows Vista computer!"
The emotional damage had him stop, he holds his head like it hurts.
While he is cringing, I grab him with string and throw him over my head down onto the ground.
Now, to make some preparations. I set a few traps. First I grab some random stuff from the plane and throw them around with string. I hope the snow will hide them. I make sure some string is buried under the snow, they should be oiled up.
Gekkouga gets back up. I surround him with as many string as possible. He could cut it, but I am hoping for a different action with the absurd amount of string that surrounds it. We are close to the plane, making it possible to set u[ even more string around him. He must also quickly change elements, if he stays as poison, I could verbally destroy him.
"Hyoton! Icy wind!", he says. I grin in joy. He does what I wanted him to do.
With my strings frozen, shattering all of them at once is easy. I wasn't expecting his next attack, though.
"Ice Beam!", he shot a freezing ray at me, I dodge it with a pull of my string, I see a whole line of ice left from the beam traveling across the ground. It doesn't matter. Now he is weak to fire.
I pull myself up and reveal the string underneath him that was oiled up. I throw my lighter down on it. At the same time, I escape into the air, pulling myself up from the plane with string.
He shouts, "Katon!", to do a fire attack, gaining resistance to fire. But I used flames because of the gas that his Gunk Shot had released. The explosion almost followed me into the air, but I was just high enough. Surely, this should damage him, but I doubt it is enough.
I see him glaring at me through the smoke.
"String Clutter!", I shout, having a bunch of string pull the rubble and random items together to smash into him from every direction. If he stays as a fire type and if this counts as a ground type move, it could do good damage.
Ah, but of course. This stupid machine just shouts, "Acrobatics!", and becomes a wind or flying elemental type, escaping the cluttered mess. Ground types have no effect on flying types. Or wind types. Whatever he is considered.
"Katon. Suiton!", he shouts.
Two elements?! I quickly pull an object my way to block his next attack.
"Scald Blast!", he shoots blast version of hot boiling water at me.
Even though the mass is broken up by the object I threw in front of me, the downpour that falls on me whilst I land hurts me greatly.
"Shadow Sneak!", he shouts. In the next second, he appears behind me.
"Taijutsu! Waterfall!", he shouts as he hits me with the strength of an actual waterfall. Dodging it didn't stop the torrents from hurting me, but in return, I snatch his arm with string. Even though he cut it, I boldly moved him and smacked him in the face.
"That's right. Your trickery is over. Your attacks I will take. I will win this battle!", I declare in his face.
"Hydro Pump!", he calls out to one of his strongest moves.
This time, I take a risk and shoot a string through this high pressured water beam. Even though it hurts me and pushes me, I now have a string wrapped around his neck. Even if he doesn't breath oxygen, he is using his water to blast me now, he can't use it to cut the string without stopping this attack.
"Lightning String!", I shout, getting him to worry.
He quickly cuts the string, but it was a fake out.
I already pulled myself towards him.
"I don't have any string that conveniently lights up!", I shout as I get close.
"I do, however, have this!", I shout before thrusting my sword into him calling it, "Lightning Stab!", I knock him back with a jab of lightning. It is a magical attack using my weaker intelligence stat, but it does 300% damage as opposed to 200% to an average machine monster.
"You didn't expect to take my attack, did you? All of us have been in pain, have met great adversity…In comparison…", I talk to myself, pepping myself up.
"You guys are just run of the mill enemies! Don't underestimate us!", I shout.
I don't know why. But I've been feeling like these two have been toying with us. We have grown. We can't just be toyed with by a bunch of nobodies anymore. We can't just keep running from pain, when we've already endured so much of it to win.
It seems Theresa took some inspiration from my speech. I see her fighting with all her breath.
Even then, her enemy cancels most of her spells.
"Giant Light Beam!", she shouts shooting a giant beam of white at Oichi.
Oichi just absorbs it.
"Nice. Too bad I can't keep these spells of yours. Here, you can have it returned!", Oichi speaks mockingly to Theresa before emitting the same beam out of her Kendama.
Theresa teleports away from a magical circle she already set up on the ground.
"Tch. Another teleport. Man you are annoying. I can never hit you!", Oichi says, acting annoyed despite smiling.
I mean, the same thing can be said of you, brat.
Theresa's eyes display no fear, at the moment, it is pure thought. Her observant eyes look at the plane.
No…She wouldn't…You can't destroy the plane!
"Wind Storm. Wind Storm. Wind Storm…", over and over again, she creates small lasting green whirlwinds in front of her.
"Explosion…Wind Explosion!", she combines and combusts them with the explosion spell. She blasts wind towards Oichi. Since this is not really a spell but a manipulation of nature, she wouldn't be able to absorb it. However, Theresa must have done similar, for Oichi just snickers and dodges it using her Kendama as a grappling hook.
"How many times must you try crazy things? I do like the creativity, though.", Oichi mocks her.
"Planes use jet engines to suck air in the front to mix it with fuel.", Theresa quietly states.
Oichi turns around to see the wind blast get absorbed into a turbine.
"Sili-san. We don't need the WHOLE plane, do we?", Theresa adds.
Well, no, the plan was to use the hole in the back as one giant thruster using magic.
Theresa had already thrown a wind circle behind the engine so the wind would be aimed back at Oichi. Now she just pulls whatever is inside using three magical rings of flames around her wand. The turbo engine explodes and released a beam of flame that blasts Oichi past Theresa.
"You can't absorb this mixture of energy.", Theresa states.
Damn, she must have been thinking of an attack this entire fight. I didn't see or hear her get a hit in.
I look back at Gekkouga, who's had enough. He is doing a bunch of hand signs.
I hear Oichi shout, "Okay! You want to play dirty, stupid! Fine!", her childishness was incredibly distracting.
"Block or dodge this! Thor's hammer!", Oichi shouts, slamming her Kendama into the ground. Electricity somehow travels over it like a snake. It would get under Theresa's barrier and follow her after she teleports.
Her best action was to cast a wind spell to send herself flying into the air. As I expected, she used Giant Tornado to ascend close to the sky.
"Futon!", Oichi shouts, following her into the air with a great wind unleashed from her Kendama.
"You can't escape me!", she says throwing her ball at Theresa.
Theresa weaves it in midair, but the ball suddenly gets suspended.
Even though it is attached to nothing, it drags Oichi like a grappling hook, allowing her to get a headbutt in on Theresa.
Shoot! Their fight distracted me. Looking back, Gekkouga has jumped in the air and shouts, "Ultimate Ninjutsu! Suiton! Water box prison!"
High volumes of water sprays out from all over his body combined with water that is magically generated. I get trapped in humongous a cube of water in the middle of this battlefield.
It is such a large box of water that I am trapped in, light from the sun barely pierces through. I can hardly see Gekkouga, but I know he is here, for he dove into it. I assume he can breath underwater. So his ultimate move is to restrict his enemy and assault him from all angles until he is out of breath. On top of that, his skills in stealth allows him to stay undetected for most opponents.
But even underwater, I can use string. My network of webs catch his movements. Even if he cuts through, I knew he would come from behind my right shoulder, so I turn and block his attack, my arm only moving at normal speed thanks to string pulling it forward. He swims around at high speed, even so, I can see him coming and prepare defensive actions. The problem is getting out of here before I am out of breath.
I look up to see part of the waters frozen. Theresa probably landed on top of it. I see Oichi's feet on top as well. These ninja know how to stand on water, I won't forget that any time soon.
Unfortunately, Gekkouga finds ways to circumvent my blockades and hits me with shallow cuts or kicks. My blocking rate becomes more like, 40% as he knocks me around. I figure to move myself with string to avoid him a few times.
I have no idea how, maybe through the vibrations of string? But I can hear the two above us talk.
"No one has ever escaped the water prison before. Your friend is practically done already. And you won't fare any better.", Oichi says.
She flings the ball over with a thrust, creating waves with the water.
"Suiton! Water expansion!", she shouts as the ball unleashed a wave that can damage steal at Theresa.
"Extension!", Theresa casts a fire spell to turn the waves into wind.
"Air Rush!", she blows the steam over to Oichi.
"Ice Storm!", she attempts to freeze Oichi whilst she can't see.
Oichi jumps away from it, taunting her, "You are at a disadvantage too, you know? You can't hit me with lightning or damaging spells, and you can barely move.
I wish I could help, but Gekkouga is giving me enough trouble as is. He cuts through my string with water shuriken or bypasses my threads with Hydropump. I get hit multiple times whilst he circles around me.
He has only been using water moves so far. Can he only stay here and attack if he remains water? In that case. We need to risk it…
"Geyser.", Theresa calls out her spell name, it warms the water up, resulting in a geyser that blasts her into the air. She repeatedly casts ice magic to make sure she doesn't get boiled.
Whilst she is in the air. I must tell her somehow…
In desperation. I attach a closed metal claw to my left arm. I shoot it up in the sky with a string. I hope it reaches her face. When the claws open, a message made of string should display, "Lightning" to her. Please. Let her figure it out.
Oichi is following her. Already, Theresa has placed a teleportation circle above her.
"TenChi Raigeki!", she shouts.
I know that move!
Now that I know she is on the same page. I shout, "String Armor!", and cover myself in multiple layers of different threats, the most outward layer being made of wire.
Oichi dodges the lightning strike, anticipating it. Probably still laughing at Theresa smugly.
Well, allow us to wipe that smirk off. She already figured we couldn't use lightning because it would defeat both me and Gekkouga. The lightning strikes this water box, this is probably one of the most powerful lightning spell ever made, and Gekkouga is bathing within it. I on the other hand, have the outer layers of wire take the electricity in my stead, the inner layers of threads defending me from it. The heat hurts me a bit, but the reward is great.
After the discharge is over, I unleash my wire and string and capture the stunned Gekkouga. The lightning that still resided in the wire hurting him once again.
"EXE Drive Skill!", I shout, creating a tense sensation where others can barely move. Whips scratch his metal as I think to myself, I had been saving this one for you!
"Ultimate Stinger!", I shout, even if no one can really hear it. I thrust my string releasing sword forward and send Gekkouga packing outside of the arena, the crash made from his fall creates a crater of its own.
The water is losing its shape. Slowly, it spreads all over the ground. Finally, I am free. I fall to one knee catching my breath. Theresa is about to drop next to me. I create a net for her.
She looks pretty relaxed when she falls into the net. I guess it is because we know a two vs one is going to be easy.
Oichi lands safely herself. She looks over to where I punted Gekkouga.
"Gekkouga…", she mumbles. Is that anger? Sadness? Fear? A mix of all?
Huh? She's running?!
Is she going to check Gekkouga? What is her relation with that thing anyway? It sounds like it runs way deeper. She carries Gekkouga out of its crater and says, "You've fought well. You can rest. I'll take care of the rest."
She stands up, her hand still holding Gekkouga's. She looks at us with a more serious face and says, "I hope you are ready. We will fight seriously now."
What does that mean? I want to say it is a bluff. But my gut tells me she is for real!
She raises her Kendama, and she and Gekkouga are enveloped in a golden light.
Gekkouga just vanishes in light. Before I knew it, she begins to transform.
Some of the black metal parts of Gekkouga got worn by the girl, some of her clothing turning black. Her eyes became blue. Even her Kendama changed with black metal attached to it and the addition of some kinds of vents?
"Yatterman 2, ready.", she says. Her entire personality has changed.
Oh no. Is this what I think it is? One of those boss fights where if you beat one of a duo, the survivor absorbs the other one's power, becoming way too strong?
"We should've beaten them both simultaneously.", I utter without thinking.
Theresa looks confused at me and asks, "What's wrong?"
"Victory isn't ensured anymore. Prepare yourself!", I warn her.
"Right. With my power. I shall crush evil underneath Justice's boots!", so she tells us. Staring us down with a golden aura coming off of her.
To Be Continued…
