BNHA demonic redemption
Hello folks and welcome to the latest tale from the mind that wrote Darkest Hero. Now that Hazbin Hotel has had a propper release earlier this year, a lot of content from the original Darkest Hero fic was rendered either completely incorrect (Baxter), outdated (Vaggie's background) or incomplete (Charlie's background). This along with boredom, what I'm assuming is undiagnosed ADHD and an annoying amount of insomnia has prompted me to start a rewrite of this series. Seriously though, I am physically incapable of falling asleep before midnight even through use of melatonin tablets, it sucks.
I know it's unlikely that this will ever be as popular as the original given I started the first one during Covid lockdowns but I'm content with that fact.
Without much more stalling, let's begin.
Chapter 1; quirkless.
Quirkless. That was the word that echoed through the mind of one Izuku Midoriya. He sat in an plastic chair, eyes wide and staring ahead as his grip tightened on the All Might action figure in his hands. He was Quirkless.
"Listen, I don't know how much more I can say about it, we ran the X-rays and sadly your son has the double pinky toe joint." A elderly doctor with thick rimmed glasses and a white labcoat huffed tiredly as he tapped at a x-ray sheet sitting on the table between them.
"But surely there's some kind of mistake." Izuku heard his mother, a green haired woman called Inko Midoriya, ask, almost desperately.
"I'm sorry, there's not much more too it." The doctor shrugged uncaringly.
"I see." Inko sighed as she stood up, grabbing Izuku's hand as she did so. "Come on sweetie, it's time to head home."
Izuku barely processed what was going on but complied. He was Quirkless. You need a quirk to be a hero. He was Quirkless, how can he save people without a quirk? Can he be a hero without a quirk? Did he need a quirk at all? Was he broken?
The next few minutes were a blur for him as he was held by his now silent mother on the train back home. He didn't remember getting to the train station. He was Quirkless, does he even need a quirk? Why doesn't he have a quirk?
"Come on, Izuku, why don't you watch All Might, you like All Might, right sweetie?" Inko asked him softly as she placed him on a computer desk chair with a blanket draped over his shoulders. When did he get home? Wasn't he just on the train? Was it dark already?
"M-mum?" He asked, his voice thick with emotion as he tried not to cry. Why? "Can I be a hero like all might...without...without a quirk?"
Inko seemed to reach her limit, tears flooded down her cheeks as a choked sob ripped from her throat and she threw her arms around his shoulders, wrapping him in a tight embrace. "I'm sorry Izuku! I'm so so sorry!"
That's not what I needed to hear mum.
The next few weeks were a blur for Izuku. His friends turned on him, the teachers who once encouraged him now scorned and shunned him. Was he broken? Even kachan was being mean to him now. He hadn't seen his dad in days...was he sick? Did he make dad sick by not having a quirk? Why didn't he have a quirk?
He came home one day, there was shouting and banging in the kitchen. He didn't like it, mum was angry, she was shouting at his dad. Why was his dad calling him a failure? Was it because he didn't have a quirk? What's a Nomu? Was it something bad? Why does his dad want him to be a Nomu?
"STAY THE FUCK OUT HISASHI OR I SWEAR TO FUCK I WILL SKIN YOUR ASS!" His mum shouted. Izuku gasped in shock, his mum never swore like aunt Mitsuki! His dad came sprinting out of the kitchen in short order, his hair pulled out in several places and cuts adorned his face and suit. What looked to be the entire contents of the kitchen cabinets was pelting the man on his way out the front door.
"M-mum? Did I make daddy leave? Is it because I'm quirkless?" Izuku sniffled. He didn't want his daddy to leave! He loved his parents.
"Oh sweety, no it's not your fault." Inko sighed tiredly as she dropped to her knees and pulled him in for a hug. "He's just been mean and has to go on a business trip for a while, ok?"
"Will he come back?" Izuku asked uncertainly. The other kids at school told him his mummy and daddy would leave him forever because he's got no quirk.
"When he behaves." Inko replied after a few moments. "Why don't you go wash up and then go watch some all might, I have to make a phone call, ok Izuku?"
He nodded. Mum must have just given dad a big time out like what aunt Mitsuki did to uncle Masuda sometimes when he was mean. With that, he went to the bathroom to get ready, after all there's always new all might videos online.
Inko sighed as she watched her son leave for the bathroom and close the door. Only then did her short frame shake with a wet sob. "I can't. No more, that sick fucking mortal can't get my son. I refuse to bury my son like I did with Genghis Khan."
With a sense of purpose and anger she stalked to the mobile phone and dialled a number she only new in passing due to her mother's work as a neutral doctor between heroes and villains. The phone buzzed twice before it picked up. "Giran, I need you to leak a location in Magatama prefecture to that rat who just became in charge of UA, yes, I'll consider your debt settled for this. Thankyou." With a uneven sigh she hung up the phone. It should only be a week at the most before that monster can't hurt her son anymore.
End.
Chapter 1 is completed. Yes it's a short chapter, I am well aware but its just the intro chapter.
