Kidnappings & Magicians

Well by the time I post this Shattered's done and Angelica dies, when I'm writing this its Valentine's Day. Getting past, shattered this is a story I've been thinking of for a while, I'll have probably posted a preview of it in my last chapter of shattered, I'll have not reviled what world it takes place till right now, though good job for anyone that guessed correctly, its Type-Moon, I'm not going to spoil the premises of the story, but as all first chapters do, you'll be getting the set up. Now disclaimers, I do not own Type-Moon or any of its property's, I doubt I would be able to execute a character as well as Archer/Emiya. Now to the story (Quick author note, There will not be a chapter next, month I'm posting this since I just finished the seventh Chapter.)

A random office

In a large office mostly in disarray, sitting behind a very ornate desk sits, an older man with grey almost silver hair, and a well-groomed beard. His face bares chiseled features, that combined with his well-cut suit, and ornate cape makes him very handsome.

Sitting opposite of him is a much younger man, with Short brown hair, unlike the man sitting across from him he is clean shaven, and while not as chiseled as the older man he can still be considered handsome, being in possession of a swimmer build. Currently he's wearing a simple sweater and jean combo.

"So... just to recap, you've abducted me." The younger man starts slowly getting a response from the older man

"I prefer the term borrow you." The older man corrects as the younger man continues

"And you think, you're a wizard." The younger man states before the older one once again speaks

"The correct term is Magician." the older man once more corrects

"Fine, magician, and you want me to study something, and hunt down wizards and vampires for you, because you've worked with another version of me in the past?" The younger man asks for clarification

"Yes, well actually only the studying, the as you call it 'hunting down wizards and vampires' is merely a suggestion on ways to earn money, and the other you, didn't ask this many questions." The older man clarifies

"Sir, with all due respect, what kind of drugs are you taking?" The young man asks as politely as possible

"that's not very respectful" The older man says as he waves his hand and suddenly, the younger man disappears from the chair

"Him, that'll teach him to respect his elders" The now confirmed Magician states before waving his hand once more causing the same young man to fall onto the floor, covered in dirt, blood, and with his sweater in tatters.

Seeing the older man once more, the young man shouts

"You again!" he shouts shocked at seeing him

"Why are you so shocked to see me? It's only been a few seconds" the older man says truthfully

"a few seconds?! It's been weeks! Weeks of being in that godforsaken Jungle, where none of the animals should even exist, I mean what is the evolutionary purpose for tigers that can spit acid that only melts fabric, or pandas that self-destruct on a whim!" the Young man screams in outrage

"So... what did they explode into?" the older man asks while leaning forwards on his hands

"Why... just why?" the younger man asks defeated

"Because, I need you to study the item I possess, and I'm so dreadfully bored." the older man answers

"Just give me it." the young man says in defeat

"I can't just give it to you. You have no basis for anything mage related" the man says before snapping his finger causing multiple books to appear on his desk

"Take these there from my personal collection, next Friday I'll test you to see if you're ready, you should do well, read that one first." the man says while pointing at a plain leather book on top

"It was written by you and it will help you not die" the Older man says before the younger man picks up the books

"I'll have somebody show you to your room, and work area. And I have to say it'll be a pleasure working with you again Alexander" the Older man tells to the now named Alexander, as he leaves the office thru the door way

Scene change

Currently sitting in a chair outside the office of the Magician that 'borrowed' him, Alexander is reading through the leather-bound book, that was apparently written by himself... well another version of himself, the Books first page is entitled

Magecraft, Explanation and usage

Magecraft or Thaumaturgy, is the artificial reenactment of Mystery's (see page 52) which is ordinarily possible by inhuman means. To make use of these Mystery's one must use their Magic Circuits (See page 2) to convert either Od or Mana (see page 2) into Magical energy or Prana to Actualize Mystery's, Mystery's are only limited by a few rules 1 Equivalent Exhange (see page 12) 2 The desired effect must be possible, note True Magic (see page 52) has no such limitations. Magnus or Magi (see page 3) have what are called Elements and Origins to help with the realization of Mystery's, Elements (see page 4) for most Magi fall under one of the Great Five, Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Ether, there are cases of Magi having all five Elements, in those cases their called average ones. There are also cases of those who do not fall under any of the five-great Elements, I.e., Shirou Emiya, who possess the Sword Element. Origins (see page 5) are the starting points that defines one's existence and directs one's actions throughout life, an Origin can be anything, while most Magi have 1 Origin it's possible to have two, example Kiritsugu Emiya, and myself, both cases they have been contradictory, when one becomes aware of their Origin it becomes impossible to stray from it. It's possible to have the same Element and Origin, those that do are called Incarnates and are so incredibly rare that if found they would be immediately given a sealing designation (see page 17) and be dissected.

Alexander taken aback by the sudden change in tone of the book, moves to page 17 quickly

Sealing designations and Enforcers

Sealing Designations are edicts handed down by the mage's association to maintain and protect special thaumaturgical abilities which cannot be acquired through study. Said to be a title of the 'greatest honor', in reality their death sentences delt to those who magecraft is to 'precious' to be risked. Thus, those given a Sealing Designation, are at best locked away for the rest of their lives forced to continue study on what gave them the Designation in the first place, or at worst experimented on and dissected. Sealing Designations can be divided into two types, Hermit who live in seclusion and only give their knowledge to their successor, this type is usually only monitored by the Association, and left alone, and Philosopher, Philosopher are Magi striving to reach new heights by abandoning all codes of conduct, should you find yourself after Philosopher be careful and if given the chance kill them immediately, as they are not only a threat to you but also everybody around them, the Association will send Enforcers to capture or kill Magi's like these, although rare some Magi resist Sealing Designation, which causes a man-hunt on them.

Enforcers otherwise known as Sealing Designation Enforcer. Are Magi specialized in hunting down Magi marked with Sealing Designations, though the rarity of Sealing Designations means most Enforcers make money hunting down heretical Magi and capturing their Magic Crests for the Association, Enforcers are also charged with keeping magecraft secret by hunting down those threating to reveal its existence. Enforcers may also hunt down dead apostles though that is more of the job of the Church's Executors. Notes to any aspiring Enforcer, I believe the main goal of an Enforcer should be to prevent the
Counter-Force from being used, and do not, I repeat do not piss off Bazett Fraga McRemitz, this applies only if she's alive.

Finishing the page alexander hears the footsteps echoing down the hall, snapping the book shut for now, Alexander waits patiently for the footsteps to get closer, judging by the sound the person is trying to move as fast as possible while trying to maintain a level of elegance.

The person creating the footsteps comes from the hall way leading into the pseudo waiting room outside the Magicians office, revealing her to be young woman with long golden blonde hair styled entirely in ridiculous coils, in her hair she has two blue ribbons on either side of her head, she has light brown eyes and a slightly tanned complexion, currently she's wearing a fancy blue dress.

Taking a few steps forwards, she's interrupted

"Excuse me miss?" by Alexander trying to catch her attention, she turns to look at Him, and for only a second grimaces at his tattered clothes and disheveled appearance

"Yes, what is it that you want? Mister?" The young woman asks trying to hide her annoyance

"Can you tell me the name of that man in their?" Alexander asks her politely. Surprised the young woman asks

"You don't know who Zelretch is?" she asks shocked while leaning back, Alexander quickly gets up from his chair and sets his books on it before calmly walking up to the door and opening it

"Ah Alexander what brings you to my office again?" the now named Zelretch asks

"While I don't like to swear, I think it's the only possible way to convey this, Zelretch what the fuck kind of place are you asking me to stay at?!" Alexander questions Zelretch clearly worried about where he's been asked to study

"I assume you've read your book" Zelretch says before looking at the door way and saying

"Miss Edelfelt, will you come in, or just stand there looking like you're worried about Alexander's life" Zelretch asks rhetorically before motioning her to come in

Composing herself Miss Edelfelt, walks into the room, and curtsies before asking

"Wizard Marshall, may I inquire about what it is that you sent me for?" She asks showing Zelretch a major amount of respect and slight but hidden amount of fear.

"Ah, yes. This miss Edelfelt, is a dear friend of mine Alexander Silver" Zelretch begins while motioning to Alexander, causing miss Edelfelt, to curtsy to him as well

"I have asked Alexander to study something for me, but he does not have a good enough understanding of Magecraft to do so yet, as such I'm sponsoring him to study at the Clock Tower, therefore I ask that you show Alexander to this address." Zelretch explains while handing her a piece of paper

Unfolding the paper, she reads it for a second before looking up and says

"Very well, I shall accompany him to this location" she says before exiting the room

"I'll explain more on Friday" Zelretch tells Alexander who hasn't left yet

Sighing Alexander leaves following the woman, going over to the chair he left his books on and picks them up before walking to the young woman

"Do you have all you need, mister Silver?" She asks getting a simple nod in response, as she leads him through a maze of corridors and tunnels, she starts asking him questions

"Mister Silver, may I ask how it is you know the Kaleidoscope?" she asks as she leads him towards their destination

"Who?" Alexander asks following ignoring the looks he's getting from the people walking by

"The Kaleidoscope, Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg," She clarifies, while turning back to look at him

"Oh, him, honestly I don't, he abducted me, saying he's worked with another version of me before" Alexander answers getting a hum of acknowledgement from her after walking in silence for a bit she asks another question

"Not to be uncouth but what happened to your clothes?" She asks while leading him out a tunnel leading to a courtyard

"I asked Zelretch, what kind of drugs he was on..." he says before suddenly shivering at the memory

"So he sent you to another dimension?" she asks curiously while walking towards an entrance to the building

"Yeah, for a week, a week in that hellish jungle" he confirms before muttering to himself halting for a second the Edelfelt turns looking Alexander up and down

"despite all the blood on you, you're not very injured" she says almost impressed

"It's not mine" Alexander replies trying to just get this day over with

"Are you aware of what it is Zelretch wishes for you to do?" she inquires while continuing to lead Alexander

"He told me to be an Enforcer." Alexander says offhandedly while looking around

"Truly?" she asks impressed getting a nod in response

"That's wonderful, are you a competent fighter?" She inquires while smirking deviously

"I wouldn't say I'm classically trained, but I've never lost" He remarks absent mindedly

"hm... you don't say, if you ever want any practice, I would be more than willing to spar with you" she says before leading him out the building to a street

"I'm sure I won't be a good fight for you" He states before stopping at her sudden turn

"And what pray tell does that mean" she asks clearly agitated

"You're clearly the better fighter, at least judging by the way you walk and your muscle composition along the arms, I'm guessing your trained in a type of grappling" he says bull shiting quickly while holding up both of his hands in the sign of surrender

"Hm, if you noticed all that you're clearly more of a fighter than you think, at least you're a better fighter than most of the residents here, maybe you'll prove a real challenge" she says excitedly before schooling her features

Stopping Infront of a gate, the woman turns to Alexander and says

"This is where you'll be staying" she says while motioning to an older looking two story house

"Zelretch, ordered it to be made months ago, apparently it was for you, mister Silver" She reviles

"Thank you miss Edelfelt, though can you not call me mister Silver, it sounds odd from someone around my own age" Alexander says to her

"Very well, my own name is Luvia Edelfelt" she says introducing herself, before saying her farewells and leaving

Standing there looking at the house Alexander sighs and asks no one

"How Is this my life now?" He mutters before putting his hand on the gate and swinging it open

Line break

After entering his new house, Alexander finds himself in a small entryway, decorated with benches and storage for coats and umbrellas, and on the coatrack hangs a set of keys with a note on them, taking the keys and grabbing the note, Alexander precedes to read the note.

Alexander, if you're reading this you've have enough perception to see a very obvious set of keys, that bodes well for you, anyway welcome to your new home I do hope Miss Edelfelt was good company, back to business on the back of this note you'll find instructions on how to activate the bounded field, if you want to live, I suggest you do so.

Knowing better than to not listen to Zelretch, Alexander turns the page around and reads it

In order to activate the bounded field, you must first head to the basement to grab your ritual knife,

Going past the entryway Alexander heads to the side of the stair case up, where there's a door, grabbing the handle of the door, he turns it unimpeded, pushing the unlocked door open he heads down the stone stair case, reaching the basement, which seems to double as some sort of study, at least judging by the desk and bookshelves, though upon the desk rest a knife covered in runic symbols. Looking back to the note he continues to read the instructions.

Apon accruing your knife, you must head to three different locations in this exact order, first you must head outside, there you will find a garden, in that garden there will be a birdbath, underneath that bird bath will be a crystal, once you find that crystal put a drop of your blood on it,

Not surprised by the need for blood, Alexander treads back up the stairs, and goes through his new house, till he finds a door that leads outside, outside he's treated to the sight of a quite well-maintained garden, with about fifth-teen birdbaths, sighing for a moment, Alexander mutters

"Why did I expect any different" he says to himself already exasperated with a man he's known less than three hours, Alexander deciding to get it over with, moves to a random birdbath, and moves it over, only to find nothing beneath it, moving the birdbath back, he goes to the next one and moves it, again there's nothing, he continues this prosses till he moves the final birdbath, to find a dark blue crystal, taking the knife Alexander pricks his thumb and is surprised by the lack of pain, before letting a drop of his blood fall onto the crystal. Assuming that it glowing is a good sign Alexander takes out the paper once more, and reads the instructions

After dealing with the birdbath, head to the roof, there will be a weathervane, and once more there will be another gem, do the same as with the last gem,

Looking up at the roof Alexander, heads inside to look for a way on the roof from there, he ignores the first floor and looks for a way up from the second floor, during his search he finds his bedroom, a library, what looks to be an entire room with the exact same outfit in it, and a locked door, with a note on it saying not to open it, knowing better than to open the door, he looks for a bit more before finding a balcony, deciding it's the best chance he has, Alexander gets up on the railing and starts to climb up to the roof, and he does so without much trouble, taking a look around he only finds one weathervane, and on the weathervane is another gem, this time a purple gem, repeating the process he did with the other gem, Alexander seeing the gem glow reads the rest of the paper

Now finally head back down to the basement there on a pedestal will be the last gem, do the same as with the last two gems, after that you're bounded field will be activated and keyed to you, now these gems will only power the field for a few months so I suggest if you don't want to die learn how to put one up for yourself, see you Friday.

Slightly frustrated Alexander heads back to the balcony and climbs down, and goes through the house and down the stairs and once more goes down to the basement, and spends about four seconds before finding a side room with the pedestal, the gem being red this time, letting a drop of blood fall the gem glows blindly bright for a second before, dulling down to a slight glow, heading back upstairs, he grabs the books he left at the entryway, and heads upstairs, and goes to the library, before setting down the books on a table, heading out towards his room, once arriving he heads to a wardrobe and opens it to see a few sets of clothes grabbing a random stack of clothes Alexander goes to the attached bathroom and precedes to shower and wash off the blood from himself. After finishing his shower and getting dressed he heads back to the library, and sits at the table and spends the rest of the night reading, before heading off to bed.

Line break

After waking up to an annoying alarm, Alexander moves on to his morning routine, not really paying attention to his surroundings, he starts to workout, after doing a few light workout's he gets up, and moves towards the left side of the room still not paying attention, till he reaches for nothing, taking a few blinks he puts his head down and sighs very loudly.

"Why couldn't it all be a dream?" He says asking no one

Moving over to the side of the room with the dresser, he pulls one of the drawers out and picks up some clothes, laying out the set of clothes on the bed he moves to the bathroom, and takes a shower, finishing his shower Alexander comes out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist, and starts getting dressed, Alexander exits his bed-room wearing a pair of light gray pants and a plain white button up shirt, heading down stairs Alexander moves to the kitchen, going to the fridge he opens it, to find it without food, only a black suitcase, confused Alexander grabs the suitcase and opens it, to see a it full of stacks of paper bills, grabbing one Alexander examines it, recognizing the currency, he can't help but let out.

"The U.K!" He lets out in shock, as the bill in his hands are clearly Pounds sterling, and not American Dollars, counting out each stack the total equals 500,000 even not fully knowing the exchange rate Alexander knows this is quite a bit of money, looking back to the now empty container and seeing an envelope inside, grabbing the envelope and tearing it open Alexander upturns it and out spills a few pieces of paper, grabbing both he reads the one clearly handwritten first and reads it.

Ah Alexander, I see you opened the fridge, sorry to say but I haven't really the time to go shopping for you. So instead, I wrote the directions to the nearest market. Seeing as you're reading this you are now aware that you're not in America anymore, you're currently in London, don't worry about citizenship I already have that covered, you'll find all your necessary papers with this letter though some things will be different than you remember.

upon reading that part Alexander immediately looks through the papers, seeing Zelretch listed as his guarding he thought that was the only change as most of the information matches, that is till he reached date of birth.

April, 17th, 1986

Upon reading this Alexander, looks desperately for a calendar, looking at the date marked on the calendar as September, 2nd, 2000. Reading this Alexander brings his hands up to his face and starts screaming

"Aghhh! It wasn't bad enough to be abducted, but no! I had to be Abducted to not only another country but also a whole year before I was even born!" Alexander Screams in a rant, finally done with everything that's happened to him in the past two days, moving back to the table he continues reading the letter

Oh yes, the money, that's your first research grant, every once in a while, you will receive a large amount of money, this is to mainly be used for your research, but I will allow you to use it for other things as well. Though I expect you to use most of it for research, but not this first one as you still don't have the Item. Good luck, sincerely Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg.

Finishing the letter, Alexander takes out his wallet, and empty's it before putting in half of one stack and his newly issued student id, after restacking the money back in the suitcase, and putting it in the basement, Alexander moves towards the front door opening the door and feeling the chilly morning air, he grabs a coat from the rack and puts it on, seeing a tweed hunting cap he grabs it and puts it on too, checking if he likes it in a mirror, not liking it he takes it off, and goes outside and follows the directions, moving between streets and alleys, till he eventually makes it to a street with a few shops on it, seeing the market he was directed towards, going up to the first thing he notices is that the lights are off, the second thing he notices is the close sign and hours chart, with it saying that it's closed on Saturdays, sighing at his own misfortune he decides to just have breakfast at a shop close by.

Looking around he spots an open coffee shop across the way, going to it, he enters and as the bell rings he is immediately hit with the hot air inside conflicting with the cold air outside, closing the door behind him the blonde-haired woman behind the counter says

"Good morning" She says in greeting to Alexander to which he returns

"Good morning" he says as he takes off his coat, and puts it on the coat rack, moving to the counter, he pulls out a chair, and sits down.

"What would you like to order?" she asks while gesturing to a chalk board behind her, reading the board Alexander asks

"Can I get, a black coffee and a scone?" Alexander asks after seeing it on the menu

"Coming right up" The woman says before starting to make the coffee, sitting with nothing to do, Alexander looks around noting only one other patron this early, the patron a man with long black hair, whose face bares a sour expression, and wearing a charcoal vest and black undershirt.

"Here you go sir." the woman behind the counter says disrupting Alexander from his observations, laying down the coffee and scone with some jam, and cream cheese.

"Thank you." Alexander says while grabbing the cup and taking a sip of it, not caring for the heat of it.

"You're American?" the woman behind the counter asks, setting down his cup Alexander answers

"Yeah." he answers simply, before taking another sip of coffee.

"So why are you here?" She asks friendly

"I guess I'm working for a guy named Zelretch." Alexander says, right as the other patron, chokes on his tea

"Hm, people get jobs younger and younger these days" the woman says while shaking her head

"So, what do you do?" she asks trying to be friendly, putting down his cup Alexander answers

"Oh, it's a researching position, though technically I'm a student researcher." Alexander answers, before taking a bite of the scone

"Oh, so did you arrive recently?" the woman asks him, Alexander knowing he can't tell the full truth says

"Yeah, I got here yesterday." Alexander confirms, as the man behind him once more chokes on his tea

"Is he okay?" Alexander asks while pointing his thumb at the man that kept choking behind him, getting up from his chair the man walks over to the counter.

"Excuse me did you say Zelretch?" the man asks, Alexander turning around doesn't notice the slight widening of the man eyes, though he is on guard now, as he knows this man is a Magnus, and based on what he read last night, he may be in trouble.

"Yes, I did" Alexander says subtly trying to size the man up to be prepared for a fight

"May I assume you're going to be studying at the Clock Tower?" the man asks, while Alexander notes all the exits.

"I am" He says remembering the place Zelretch enrolled him in, smiling the man says

"I see, I am Waver Velvet, I'm a professor at the clock tower." Waver says while holding out his hand, taking his hand Alexander says

"Alexander Silver, nice to meet you" Alexander introduces himself, calming down knowing it would be stupid for a professor to kill a student, but still prepared for the worst, he did notice the widening of Waver's eyes

"Oh, I've heard about you." he says before taking a seat next to him, surprised Alexander asks

"Really how?" Alexander asks still prepared to bolt if needed

"You'd be surprised at how fast rumors spread, I've heard about seven different stories, some say you and miss Edelfelt are engaged," Waver begins before getting interrupted

"Wait, what? I've only met her once." Alexander asks surprised by how wrong that was

"Never underestimate how far off a rumor can get, continuing some say you're Zelretch's new apprentice, and the most Ludacris I've heard is that you're the past version of someone who worked with Zelretch." Waver says, with a bit of a chuckle.

Alexander just laughs awkwardly at how right the last one is, finishing his coffee and scone, Alexander signals the woman behind the counter he's done.

"That'll be seven pounds." the woman says, reaching for his wallet, but before he could pay Waver hands her some money and says

"I'll cover it, though you do have classes today, right?" Waver asks Alexander as both get up

"Honestly I don't know." Alexander says while grabbing his coat and putting it on.

"hm, how far along are you with your studies?" Waver asks, as he puts on a red coat with a yellow scarf around it, opening the door for both of them, walking out the door Alexander answers

"I'm having trouble with circuitry." Alexander tells Waver honestly

"Hm, yes, you're a first generation, correct?" Waver asks while leading Alexander to the Clock Tower

"Oh, uh, yeah." Alexander answers barely remembering what first generation meant

"Then it's no surprise you're having trouble with your Circuits." Waver says, before stopping at a car, looking to Alexander he says

"I hope to see you at my class mister Silver." he says while getting in his car, and leaving

Omake Curiosity

Standing in front of the door with a note on it saying do not enter, Alexander can't help but let his curiosity take a peek inside, grabbing the door-handle and twisting it, Alexander pushes the door open, only to be immediately hit by something very fast, knocking him out.

Upon awaking Alexander looks around the room he wakes up in, as an object slowly floats behind him, seeing the only thing in the room being a table with an open box he moves to see what's inside, but before he can a flying object slams itself into his hand.

"Hi there, I'm Kaleidostick Quartz! How would you like to be a Magical Girl?!" the apparent Kaleidostick asks after introducing itself

Alexander Surprised by the object in his hands starts furiously Shaking his hand trying to get it out while screaming

"Get off!" over and over again as he shakes his arm

That's it, if you're wondering yes that's what's in the room, though going to the story, yeah, I already have the thing he's supposed to study chosen, and as for the character I wanted to avoid a lot of Naru-verse Oc cliches, so let me say it here, he will not be getting any mystic-eyes, or reality marbles, quite frankly he will stay a magnus, albeit a rather talented one for a 1st generation. Though if it was not obvious, he's part of the E ranked luck club. And as for why Zelretch abducted him I thought it would be an interesting concept for Zelretch, to have worked with another version of him, so that's why he knows him. For the record everything in Alexander's house belonged to the other Alexander, so when I do an actual chapter of him looking through the house it'll already be explained. Onto Alexander's mage craft, I already have his Element and Origin's picked yes, he does have two Origin's and I picked out the mage craft he'll use, and his circuits amount and quality, fyi he has less than Shirou, but way better quality. And finally shipping, not Luvia, I would not ship him with the first persona he meets.
