So, this is going to be my most ambitious undertaking ever because it is a three-way crossover all set within one universe and that is the My Hero Academia universe though as you can't have more than two in a crossover category it's officially listed as an MHA and RWBY crossover. I was asked if I could do a crossover between MHA and either Black Clover or Avatar: The Last Airbender a while back and as I was contemplating an MHA and RWBY crossover at the time I said I could probably do one with those two and Black Clover thrown in as well but to make it work I've decided to do it all within the MHA universe as that is the one that is best for this in my opinion. This story will be like my current primary active story 'Miraculous Quirks' in that it is a crossover that is a retelling of one story with the crossover characters added though unlike 'Miraculous Quirks' this one is going to be a lot more in depth as rather than just two characters coming to the universe at hand this one is going to be a full deeper crossover with the RWBY and Black Clover worlds incorporated into MHA as much as possible. In that vein I've done my best to work it all in so bear with me for the first few chapters as I bring it all together for you and through them explain how RWBY and Black Clover will work within the MHA world. What I will say now is that for character Quirks I will be using or adapting as best as I can the semblances from RWBY and the magic the characters have in Black Clover to work as their Quirks and yes that does mean that Asta will have a Quirk as you will soon see. I will also be working in things like Dust, Huntsmen and Huntresses, Grimm, the Magic Knight Squads (under a slightly different name), positions within them, and what not so that things work but I cannot include everything as there is too much, so I am doing my best to make it all work together with both heroes and villains from all universes. It will take a few chapters for everything to flow into one full story from the three aspects, but it will be worth it in the end.

That is all I really have for the overall explanation but there are a few small things I will add now so that you have some context for what is to come and what changes I have made. The first and most important of them is Yuno's Quirk and this will serve as a manga spoiler warning for those who've only watched the Black Clover anime, so you have been warned and yes I am fully caught up with both MHA and Black Clover's manga as I read them weekly/whenever a new one drops on Viz. For Yuno's Quirk, in no small part because of Yoarashi's Quirk, I've decided to use Yuno's true magic, Star Magic, as the base of his Quirk not his Wind Magic that comes from the soul of the unborn elf that was reincarnated into him. You will see that soon enough though but other than that Yuno will still be Yuno. The other thing to really address here is pairings. I am a big Asta x Noelle and IzuOcha shipper in Black Clover and MHA respectively so those will be the ships for those characters though of course Asta will have to get over Sister Lily first and Noelle will have to contend with both her extreme tsundere nature and Mimosa's crush as well but more on all that in time. As for the Ruby pairings, well that one is a bit different as this story does fall under my own personal favorite non canon pairing for RWBY (one of only 4 non canon or at least one-sided canon ships I go for though the RWBY one has to be in an AU story) and that is White Rose. I haven't decided if I want to pair Ruby with Weiss though especially as while I do love this pairing it does mean that Weiss is a little OOC in my opinion as I see her as straight in RWBY due to her only known crush being on Neptune but if y'all want this as the pairing let me know in reviews or PMs and I will do it. Regardless, I have aged Weiss and Weiss alone down so that she can be in the same year while the rest of the RWBY characters other than Ruby will all be 3rd years with the Big 3 and various Magic Knights. Weiss isn't the only one that has been aged down, I've done the same with Leo at least and I've aged up at least one character, but all this is so that things can fit it.

Anyway, sorry for this really long opening explanation on top of an already massive opening chapter, I just had to explain a lot to lay the groundwork for what is to come in this story. Now though I will end this long note so if you read this (and no worries if you didn't) it's time to sit back and enjoy the first chapter in Black RWBY Academia.

Disclaimer: I own nothing related to these three great franchises.

Chapter 1: Starting Their Paths

"You know that I'm going to be the next Wizard King!" Asta said loudly to his best friend, brother in all but blood, and rival Yuno as they walked down a wide alleyway in Hage Village, a small, all but forgotten, village located in the north of Japan. "I'll earn that title and U.A. is how I'll get it, almost all the Wizard Kings went there."

"Oh, Asta keep telling yourself that." Yuno said a serious look on his stern face. "You know how hard it is to get into U.A. to begin with and to top it all off you're Quirkless."

"Yeah but they removed that requirement so I'm ready and reaving to go." Asta said flexing his impressive muscles that were clearly the result of years of tough physical training. "I'll be the first hero to be Quirkless. My muscles are all that I need."

Asta and Yuno were two 15-year-old orphans who'd been abandoned on the doorstep of the church in Hage Village on the same day with nothing but their names on their clothes and a necklace with a fancy blue stone with a cross design in the center of it that had been left with Yuno. Early on Asta had always been the rambunctious, loud mouthed, energetic one while Yuno had initially been a timid, tearful boy but after an incident when they were 5 and Yuno almost had his necklace, the only thing from whoever left him at the church, stolen but for Asta's intervention he'd toughened up and trained to be the Wizard King just like Asta.

Both boys had grown up with stories of the Wizard King, the title that was given to the leader of the Quirk Knights, an honorable branch of the hero society created by the first Wizard King after the codification of the Hero Code of Japan that were dedicated to protecting and serving the nation. While there were many types of hero in Japan, none more impressive than the Symbol of Peace All Might, the boys from Hage were fans of the Quirk Knights branch of heroism and both aspired to be heroes who served on of the 9 squads of Quirk Knights and eventually earned the title of Wizard King.

The current Wizard King was the Time Hero: Julius Novachrono who's impressive Time Manipulation Quirk was unreal and made him one of the strongest heroes in the nation. His close personal friendships with All Might and Ozpin, the head of the Huntsman hero branch, helped keep the balance between the three hero branches of Japan though he held no ranking in the charts because the heroes of the Quirk Knight branch did not serve for popularity but for the people. The same was said for the Huntsman branch in fact.

The boys knew less about the third branch than they did about the Quirk Knights or the normal heroes, but their main focus was dealing with certain villainous creatures that cropped up in Japan for some reason though they also did normal hero duties as well. They usually had more esoteric Quirks and tended to use weapons but were just as famous in a lot of ways with 4 notable and large agencies located in various parts of the country. However, Hage was were the statue of the first Wizard King was and as such the Quirk Knight branch held the greatest sway here for the aspiring heroes of the area.

Of course, almost all the top heroes no matter whether they were a Quirk Knight, a Huntsman or Huntress, or a standard hero through the normal channels all came from one of the top schools be it U.A. or Shiketsu though other schools like Ketsubutsu, Seiai Academy, Seijin High School, Isamu Academy, or several other schools all produced fine heroes in their own right. Naturally the boys currently chatting were aiming for the biggest of them all, U.A.

Asta was the shorter of the pair with spikey silver hair held back by a black headband and bright green eyes and a muscular build from years of constantly working out to overcome his lack of a Quirk while Yuno was the taller of the pair, lean with a handsome face that some might call regal, messy black hair and amber eyes. They'd grown up as brothers and saw themselves as such, they were family, best friends and rivals but in this endeavor Yuno had the advantage as he had an awesome Quirk that was more than enough to get him into U.A. but Asta would never give up on his dream either.

Yuno, er, just Yuno no known last name. Quirk: Starforce. Yuno can create stars capable of firing blasts of offensive starlight, be used defensively to protect him, and even transport himself from star to star though how that works no one knows.

"They won't be because I will be the next Wizard King." Yuno said as they walked. "Not you."

"Nuh uh it will be Yuno." Asta said. "I'll…"

Asta didn't get to finish his sentence when a pair of metal chains shot at them with a spiked head at the end of them. The pair was forced apart by the chains before one of them slammed into Asta's chest blasting him back into the wall on his side of the alleyway with enough force to crack it and send him slumping down to the ground.

"Asta!" Yuno yelled looking at his brother and rival reaching before turning to the attacked readying to defend himself. "You'll pay for that."

However, before he could do anything the chains wrapped themselves around him and bound his arms to his sides before slamming into the ground behind him bringing Yuno to his knees unable to move and his skill with his Quirk wasn't yet at the level that he could use it without using his arms to control it. He was helpless and Asta was clearly out of it.

"Well, that was easy but then again you are just a pair of kids." The attacker said in a cold, cruel, slightly mad, voice as he approached. "Don't struggle, back when I was a Quirk Knight I was known as Chain Master Revchi for my skills with my chains, you are bound tight."

"What do you want?" Yuno spat out as he looked at the man now approaching him. "You've attacked a civilian with your Quirk unprovoked, that makes you a villain."

The man approaching looked to be in his early 30s, tall and lean with messy black hair that hung lank down past his shoulders though didn't do much to hide the large burn over the left side of his face. He wore a simple black bodysuit and matching boots with a red cloak that covered most of his body and was buttoned at his right shoulder. However, the most distinguishing feature on him was the series of belts across his chest, waist, and legs that were holding several steel chains that were either holding Yuno in place or floating behind him as he walked.

"I prefer master thief as that is what I've been doing since that fat blowhard set my up on my last mission that got me kicked out of the Quirk Knights as well as getting my hero license permanently revoked." The man said. "And that is what I am here to do, steal from you."

Revchi Salik, Quirk: Chain Manipulation. Revchi can manipulate any metal chain that is in contact with his body, the chains he uses are specially made from his Quirk Knight days and are damn near indestructible.

"You were once a Quirk Knight?" Yuno asked stunned.

"Of course, but alas my corrupt Captain set me up, so I've been forced to turn to a life of villainy." Revchi said sweeping his hair back to show his scar as he grinned manically at Yuno. "Got this for my trouble as well. Now just sit tight and I'll take that stone around your neck. Looks like it will net me a pretty penny and I know a guy who can properly identify it for me."

Yuno grimaced and struggled but he couldn't break free from the chains, they were too tight. He couldn't even create any stars to blast them away as even thinking about it seemed to cause the chains to tighten around him making his breathing more and more ragged the tighter they got.

"I can see you trying to use whatever pathetic Quirk some orphan boy out here would have." Revchi said with a laugh. "It won't work, my chains will tighten whenever you move thus preventing you from using it. I'll be taking that stone and off before you know it."

"No, you won't." Asta said with a groan from the wall reminding them that he was still here. "I won't let you take that from my rival."

"You, you aren't even worth my time." Revchi said turning to Asta with a sneer and walking over to him. "I heard your conversation, you're nothing, a Quirkless loser in a world where having a Quirk is everything. You aren't even worth being called scum on the bottom of my boot."

"I may not have a Quirk but that won't stop me." Asta said trying to stand up but failing as Revchi reached him and slammed his foot into Asta's shoulder to force him back and hold him there. "I'm not going to give up, ever. I'm going to be the Wizard King."

"The Wizard King? Without a Quirk." Revchi said with a belly laugh. "You'd be lucky to even get a job as a Quirkless loser let alone become the Wizard King. You saw how easily I beat you; you won't last in this world. You may as well just give up and kill yourself, that's the only good you'll ever do for society. It's all trash like you are good for."

That got to Asta, and he knew it. All his life he'd been looked down on by the people here, well not Father Orsi, the beautiful Sister Lily or the other orphans in their family, but everyone else because he didn't have a Quirk. That hadn't stopped Asta however as he worked hard, trained his body, and did what he could to make up for it so that he could get into U.A. and become a hero with the Quirk Knights. However now, faced with a real villain who'd beaten him so easily, he was finally at a loss and realized the position that he was in as a Quirkless loser.

It also didn't help that Yuno was so perfect. Even tied up now Yuno was still going places, he had an amazing, powerful, and unique Quirk that he had a good handle of, and he was a handsome lady killer to boot. He was going to get into U.A. and become a Quirk Knight as he worked his way up to becoming the Wizard King while Asta was going to be stuck here.

"It's true Asta, you won't be the Wizard King." Yuno said looking at Asta unable to see his rival and brother like this and knowing he had to say something as the chains got a little tighter thanks to his movement.

"See even your friend acknowledges it." Revchi said grinding the heel of his boot further into Asta's shoulder as he laughed more at the pathetic worm that he was treading on. "Just kill yourself, then you will actually be useful to society for once."

"You won't be the Wizard King because I'm going to be the Wizard King." Yuno finished yelling ignoring what the villain was saying. "Asta, you hear me, I'm going to be the Wizard King, not you. And you, Revchi was it, you've underestimated Asta. He's not some loser without a Quirk, he's my rival!"

That, that was just what Asta needed to hear. It had been a long time since Yuno had actually acknowledged their rivalry that began when they were 5, shortly after it was clear that Asta would be Quirkless for the rest of his life and when someone made a first attempt on Yuno's pendant, the only thing on him when he was abandoned at the church. It was a reminder of that day, of their pledge and of why Asta tried so hard to be the best.

"Sorry Yuno, I shouldn't have let you see me like that." Asta said as he found his passion again, reignited to an inferno and he reached up to grab Ruchi's heel in his hand. "How can I let my rival down after a speech like that."

"What the hell." Revchi said as he backed off, yanking his heel from Asta's grip in the process, and taking a few steps back. "Why do you persist in defying your betters you worthless piece of Quirkless shit."

"Just give me a second Yuno." Asta said not rising to Revchi's words as he got to one knee and looked up at the villain before him. "And I'll destroy this guy."

As he said this Asta felt something change deep within him. The sheer force of it was such that both Yuno and Revchi felt it as well. He didn't know what it was, but Asta embraced it knowing that he could trust it, that it was part of him and what he was always meant to be. It was pure instinct, but Asta knew that all he had to do was think to activate it and the air before and above him suddenly shimmered before rending and a sword appeared in it point down.

The sword didn't look fancy, in fact it looked terrible and rather unwieldy. It was a large thing, clearly a great sword of more European design with a triangular point and long, wide body. The hilt and cross guard was separate from the blade and connected by a fuller. It seemed like it was from a separate sword in fact as it was more like a long sword and not great sword hilt. However, that wasn't the oddest thing about it. No that was reserved for the sword itself, it was black and covered in what looked like dirt and scuff marks with blunted edges.

Still, Asta didn't care. He knew that the sword was his and that it was part of him as it fell to the ground and buried itself in it enough to stand up on its own. Grabbing the hilt in his right hand Asta pulled himself to his feet by it before pulling it out of the ground and hefting it in his hands. It was heavy but that was not a problem for Asta thanks to in incredible physical strength.

"What on earth, I thought that you said that he was Quirkless." Revchi said stunned by the sudden development. "But that was clearly a Quirk you used to get that sword."

"I knew that Asta was special." Yuno said with a grin. "It's really rare but sometimes a Quirk doesn't manifest before one turns 4. Rather, it does so when they are in their teens, a delayed manifestation that is usually triggered by extreme stress. Happened in a U.A. entrance exam a few years back I recall as it was all over that Sports Festival. Some kid with French heritage was believed to be Quirkless until an impressive amplification quirk manifested during the entrance exam that saw him get in though he was still defeated in the top 16 that year."

"Oh yeah I remember that kid, Arc I believe his name was." Asta said grinning now. "Well, the timing is even better for me then seeing as I'll have my Quirk before the exam."

"You may have gotten lucky by manifesting a Quirk so late in life, but you have no idea what it does or how to control it." Revchi snarled as all his chains that weren't being used to bind Yuno rose up behind him. "I'll end you now for your insolence."

Before Asta could reply Revchi sent the chains at Asta. Asta agreed that he didn't know what to do but he didn't care. He had a Quirk that created or summoned or whatever it did to produce this sword and he knew that with a sword you swung it. As such he turned it in his hands so that the blade faced the incoming chains and swung it across his body, hitting all the chains as they converged in the process. That was when the oddity rose to a whole new level.

Rather than just deflect the chains away, the moment the blade touched them they stopped moving and fell to the ground. Revchi was wide eyed at that as he tried to get the chains to work but even though they were still attached to his body they couldn't. It was as if his Quirk had suddenly been nullified and with the weight of the chains he couldn't move without at least a small amount of manipulation of them to mitigate their weight.

"What the hell, my Quirk isn't working." Revchi said panicking now.

"It doesn't matter what my sword can do." Asta said as he charged at Revchi knowing that the blade would only do blunt force damage but that would be more than enough to incapacitate this villain. "My Quirk is never giving up!"

With that yell Asta swung his blade, slamming it into Revchi's gut and using a mix of his raw strength and the heavy blade he pushed through the hit to blast Revchi back and into the other wall. He hit it hard enough to crater it before he fell to the ground unconscious, the chains around Yuno falling away at the same time now that the user was no long in control of his chains.

"I always figured that if I didn't have a Quirk then I still had my body." Asta said panting from everything as he looked at the unconscious villain. "Looks like it's finally paid off."

"Asta." Yuno said causing Asta to turn to see that his rival was free. "What was that?"

"I don't know but check it out Yuno." Asta said hoisting the sword over his head with just one hand as he grinned. "Looks like I finally got a Quirk. I don't know what it is, but I can summon this sword with it."

Asta, er, no known last name, Quirk: Anti-Quirk. Manifesting at age 15, Asta's Quirk allows him to summon a special sword that nullifies any Quirk that it touches or prevents another from using his or her Quirk should the sword touch that person's Quirk Factor. Nothing more is known about this Quirk given it's sudden appearance nor are the properties of the sword created, or whether there will be others, known.

"Well, you saved me again." Yuno said walking past Asta as the sword vanished and Asta knew that he could recall it whenever though wielding it did cause a physical drain that he'd have to train to get over. "I will repay my debt to you one day."

Asta was amazed at that as Yuno walked to the end of the alleyway, a large skull of unknow but beastly origin that had been near the village for as long as anyone knew out in the distance as the sun set behind it and turned to look at him with a smile on his face. He hadn't realized that Yuno remembered that day but clearly he had.

"Asta, we made a promise, do you remember it?" Yuno asked as he looked down at Asta.

"Course I remember it, I'm more surprised you remember it." Asta said as he walked up to stand next to Yuno. "You've been distant lately what with the entrance exam coming up and all."

"Like I'd remind my rival of it." Yuno said with a chuckle. "That day 10 years ago when you showed me that it was possible for poor orphans like us can still make something of ourselves in this world. So, to prove that…"

"To fight for our family and all those who support us." Asta added as they turned to each other and held out their fists to fist bump and reaffirm their rivalry.

"We'll fight to see who becomes the Wizard King." They said in unison as the day began to draw to a close not knowing that elsewhere in Japan, two others who aspired to be the tops of their branches within the hero world were also facing their own beginnings on their respective paths to becoming heroes.

Ruby Rose hummed to herself as she read the weapon specs magazine in her favorite Dust and equipment store in downtown Vale, the largest city near her home in the island of Patch in Suruga Bay that had been raised there sometime after the advent of Quirks. She knew the history of her home and the middle school that she attended, Signal Academy, but right now she wasn't focused on that as she studied the magazine seeing if there was anything that could help her with her own weapon. She wanted to see if there was anything new she should consider getting to make final alterations to her sweetheart before the U.A. entrance exam.

As Ruby had already declared her intention at Signal to follow in her parents and sister's footsteps and become a Huntress, the specialty branch of their hero society that primarily dealt with the strange beasts that infested rural Japan, and the oceans for that matter, called Grimm, she would be allowed to use a weapon in the entrance exam if she wanted to. She'd filled out all the paperwork, made sure that she was using special ammunition that wouldn't kill and that the blade parts of it were coated in a special substance that would paralyze if hit rather than cut, so she was ready to go.

The exam itself was still several months away at least, 10 if she recalled, well the normal exam the one for recommended students was a month earlier but she wasn't going to be taking that one, so she was gearing up for that. She'd been studying her ass off to pass the written part and training with both her weapon and her Quirk to pass the practical. Of course, her older sister Yang wouldn't tell her what the exam would be, only that she'd come top of her class's entrance test with the only plus 100 score in the last decade, but she was certain that Ruby could manage it with her weapon as well as her Quirk.

Ruby hoped so as her Quirk, Petal Burst, wasn't exactly as combat focused as Yang's Burn Quirk was but Ruby knew that she could make up for it with her weapon doing that part while Petal Burst gave her the speed and mobility that she needed to get to where she had to go. In this regard being a declared Huntress branch candidate going in Ruby knew she had an edge given the weapon allowance.

All Huntsmen and Huntress carried a weapon of sort, even those like Yang who favored her fists and legs when she fought had one, as the creatures of Grimm they tended to go up against were rather resilient to Quirks, so the weapons helped defeat them. Ruby was no different and her naturally curious and technological mind had helped her forge her own unique weapon that only she could wield. It had also helped her secure a student level provisional support gear license to work on it and maybe other things but that was a side project for her. Her real goal was getting into U.A. and becoming a Huntress Hero.

Growing up deeply ingrained in the hero world, pretty much exclusively the Huntsman branch as that was what Signal specialized in preparing students for and the primary hero path for those from Patch, Ruby knew all about it and the three branches that made up Hero Society in the world. Ruby was going down the Huntress path that focused on things like Grimm who's origin was still unknown as far as she knew but existed all over the world so dedicated heroes were needed to take them out.

That was just her focus in the long run, however, as she'd be educated at U.A. with kids who were going for the other two branches as well, if she got in that is. It would be useful because there was plenty of crossover in the field while dealing with villains, so she had to know how to deal with them.

It also didn't hurt that her sister Yang was currently the number 3 student in the rising 3rd years at U.A. and friends with several of the other official top 10 students in her class, the official top 20% of the 50-person class. It was an expansion of the old Big 3 since the expansion from 20 to 25 per class some years back, which meant that she was friends with the other branch students.

Some, including the top student, were normal Hero branch that is to say they were focused on joining one of the many standard hero agencies that were ubiquitous across all of Japan and focused mostly on urban areas. They were the heroes you normally heard of the ones in the rankings like All Might, Endeavor, Hawks, Best Jeanist, and the like, and were the ones who got the most fame and money. As such they usually made up the bulk of the top students at U.A. while the Huntsman and Quirk Knight Branches tended to be less representative in them.

Ruby didn't know much about the third branch, only 2 of the Top 10 of U.A. were aspiring Quirk Knights and while Yang got along well with them she did say that both had odd personalities but that was kinda the way those who went for the Quirk Knights were as they weren't in it for money or fame but to help people. Of the two in the Top 10, one was a battle loving freak with a lightning-based Quirk that had helped him win the Sports Festival their first year and who Yang often spared with while the other was an earth Quirk user who was an extreme misandrist to the point that it might hinder her career opportunities.

Regardless, Yang was friends with basically everyone and though Ruby had yet to meet most of Yang's U.A. friends she was sure that if she got into U.A. she would get that chance. The one odd thing about Yang's class however that Ruby knew about was that Yang's class was the first in history to have a plurality of the Top 10, 5 in fact so technically half of them, that were on the Huntsman path rather than the hero path.

Ruby was just hoping that she got in and saw who was on what path when she started. Of course, you could change if you wanted, or even enter without a path in mind, and they often worked together but she was still eager to see who was going to be there. Of course, first she had to get in. That was what she was most worried about the most and as such had been training hard for hence the trip to Vale on the mainland and this story that catered to Huntsman and those who aspired to be them.

She had enough Dust, the special compound that was the trade secret and backbone of the Schnee Dust Company's empire in support gear world though they were the best all around, but she wanted to make sure that she had the latest specs for her weapon. It seemed like she did, so she was going to enjoy the magazine, buy it as she'd read it here, and then head home back to Patch to get some more training in.

Ruby was so engrossed in her magazine and her music from her phone, it was the latest single from her favorite American artist call Red Like Roses that she absolutely loved, that she didn't notice what was going on around here. That and she was in the corner of the store with her back to the door, so she hadn't seen the sharply dressed ginger man in a red lined white suit jacket, black pants, boots, gloves, and shirt, bowler hat with a red band and a cane that was clearly a high-quality black-market support item walk in with a bunch of black suited and armed thugs smoking a cigar stick up the old proprietor of the joint.

The man was Roman Torchwick, the crime boss of Vale, well basically this entire region of Japan, who was here with some local muscle to hold the place up for Dust. His client wanted the stuff, and he'd be paid handsomely if he procured a lot of the stuff, so he was going to get all of it. What was even better was that as he was Quirkless, and his men armed with guns and blades rather than relying on Quirks he wouldn't have to deal with pesky heroes ruining his heist.

Sure, heroes could stop him but most focused on dealing with criminals using Quirks not the Quirkless mastermind that was Roman Torchwick. The only branch he usually had to worry about was the Huntsman branch as they did tend to deal with the criminals who were Quirkless or didn't use them, but none were here, he'd made sure of it before coming into the store. This was a simple heist that would net him a tidy profit. At least that's what he thought it would be.

The one thing that Torchwick hadn't factored in was the lone customer, a small girl of 15 in a cute black dress and corset with red lace and lining, black tights, black and red boots, and a red hooded cloak in the corner. She had been missed upon entry because of her size and location but one of the thugs was going to deal with her assuming she wasn't a threat.

"Alright kid, put your hands where I can see them?" The thug said as he drew a slight curved red machete from his waist and approached her, but she wasn't listening to him. "Hey, I said hands in the air, what are you deaf or something?"

He finished this by grabbing her shoulder and pulling her back causing the hood to fall down revealing her short black hear with red tips and headphones on that were loud enough to hear the music of some American song, the accent and that it was in English giving it away, over them. This did cause the girl to turn around and look at him in confusion with her unique silver eyes that showed no fear at the sudden change in her situation.

Ruby was more confused than anything else at being interrupted as she turned to face the man. He was clearly some low-level thug dressed in a full black suit with a red tie, black hat and red shades despite it being nighttime. He made a gesture to remove her headphones, so Ruby did that.

"Yes?" Ruby aske the man calmly, she could already tell what he was here for and readying a plan of action that was at best questionably legal under self-defense laws.

"I said put yer hands in the air now." The thug commanded her.

"Are you robbing me?" Ruby asked nonchalantly as she cocked her head and a plan came into her mind, she just needed confirmation to justify self-defense. "Like for real robbing me?"

"Yes." The man said brandishing his machete.

"Oh, ok then." Ruby replied as she put her headphones around her neck set her feet and then without warning kicked the thug in the chest as hard as she could.

Thank god for Yang and their father's close combat training. Ruby wasn't great at hand-to-hand fighting, but she knew how to, and she could pack quite the punch, or in this case kick, as she slammed her foot into the thugs chest and sent him flying back and into a wall where he slumped down to the ground unconscious.

That got Torchwick's attention, and he gestured to one of the other thugs to deal with the girl. That thug rounded the shelves with a gun drawn but Ruby had already rushed him, her natural speed pretty good even without her Quirk, and tackled him around the waist. Despite the size and gender differences she had the training and raw core strength from wielding her weapon, along with surprise, to overcome this and tackle him out of the window and onto the ground outside in the oddly deserted, tree lined street of Vale.

The thug was knocked out by the attack and Ruby used his body to protect her from both the broken glass in the window and the ground as she bounced off it and rolled over the ground before rising to her feet the moment she came to a stop. As she did she pulled out her weapon and activated it. As a Signal student she'd gotten a permit to carry her sweetheart and use it in self-defense if need be and that was just what she was going to do as she grinned back at the shop while the massive weapon took shape.

Crescent Rose was the name Ruby had given her weapon and she loved her totally. The weapon as a special, one-of-a-kind, high caliber sniper scythe that was over 5 feet in lengths so taller than Ruby herself. As the name implied, the top was a proper grim reaper style in curved scythe with a long handle for two handed fighting ending in a spike at the end. It was designed as a rifle as well and could fire special rounds for incapacitating villains though for this fight Ruby planned on using the melee aspects of it. Lastly it was like her, red and black in color other than the silver of her blade.

Ruby only held the pose for a second before she spun Crescent Rose in her hands and then slammed it down into the ground as she turned to face side on towards the shop. The end of the scythe part slammed into the ground and stuck there, a tactic that she used in multiple aspects of her fighting style but which she knew was going to cost her a few allowances to repair the damage she'd just inflicted on the street.

Still, she was not backing down. She was going to be a Huntress and to prove it she'd defend herself against these thugs and their leader with only her weapon and combat skills. She didn't even need her music as she clicked something on her headphones and the song cut out.

"Ok." Torchwick said as he looked at the annoying red and black girl and then at the remaining henchmen he had with him and sighed, they really weren't worth the money he was paying them, but they could at least try to earn their pay right now. "Well? Get her."

The henchman got that part at least and charged out of the shop through the open door however and not the broken window. That gave Ruby the time she needed to strategize and act as they reached her. With a leap, she used her impressive core muscles and training to spin her body on crescent Rose's haft and aimed a double kick at the first henchman's face. He dodged it but Ruby had built up her momentum and spun around to bring her heels around even faster on her second pass, her work on the haft enough to impress a pommel horse gymnast.

Her heels slammed into the side of the man's face and knocked him clean out, sending him flying into the wall. Ruby then used the momentum from the hit to yank Crescent Rose out of the ground as she flipped to land on her feet and prepared her next move as two more henchman closed in on her. She noticed they were trying to get up on her from her back, so she spun the scythe in her arms so that it was in a back position and then, as she spun, she fired the high propulsion rubber bullet she had to have in her magazines whenever she was carrying Crescent Rose within city limits.

The bullets were for non-lethal takedowns should she ever have to use them and as she wasn't actually aiming at the thugs that wouldn't be an issue. No Ruby fired to use the massive recoil her weapon had to increase her spin, it was all part of her fighting style, so that she could slam the head of Crescent Rose into the two henchmen trying to hit her in the back before they could reach her. They were sent flying into a nearby building as a result, hitting the stone so that they didn't do any damage and were rendered unconscious in the process.

Ruby of course wasn't done yet, she still had two more to deal with and used the rest of her momentum to spin Crescent Rose in her hands and bring it down, blunt non blade end, onto one of the remaining henchmen. He was flattened with a gasp before he hit the ground so hard that the street cracked, again not good for her allowance, but he was out of the fight.

That was when Ruby heard the cocking of a sub machine gun. She was a weapons nerd through and through and while, when she got the chance to make a costume based off her normal attire, she would make sure that it was at least bullet proof to low caliber weapons, but right now her clothes weren't bullet proof. This was a life-or-death situation so she could use her Quirk to evade and did just that as she turned her body to, well she wasn't sure what she became as all she knew was that when she uses her Quirk she gets a brief moment of speed and flight with for some reason rose petals in her wake.

Ruby Rose, Quirk: Petal Burst. Ruby is capable of traveling an extreme velocity from one point to another by breaking herself down to her molecular components. Theoretically she can use it to transport others with her though she has never tested this yet. Why she leaves a trail of red rose petals in her wake is still a mystery.

She only used her Quirk once however, just enough to avoid the first volley because that's all this thug would get off. As soon as she was clear, Ruby, still in the air, aimed the rifle part to the side and fired to propel herself sideways, twisting the weapon to behind her to fire again and blast herself forward in a motion only hours of training could manage.

That second blast sent her right at the thug as he tried to reload, and she slid down in a baseball style slide to take legs from under him and send him flying into the air. In the process she flipped reoriented the weapon to ensure that the point was facing down and slammed it into the ground. It carved a groove into the concrete, and she flipped her body up so that she was upside down and tracking the man with her eyes as she wrenched her sweetheart out of the ground and slammed it into the thug to take him out. He hit the ground hard and skidded out cold to lie at his boss's feet.

As this happened Ruby spun in the air, the sound of sirens now loud as at least the police responded to the incident and landed on her feet facing the boss villain. The whole scenario from start to finish had taken less than a minute and Ruby hadn't broken a sweat yet.

"Well, you were worth every cent, truly you were." Torchwick said condescendingly to the downed thug as he walked past the failure of a henchman who couldn't handle a little girl and dropped his cigar, putting it would with his cane as he walked forward. "Well, Red, I think we can all say that it has been an eventful evening but as much as I'd love to stick around, I'm afraid this is were we part ways. Can't have someone like you becoming one of those no-good meddlesome heroes now can we."

With that Torchwick raised his cane and the end popped up to reveal that it was hollow and had a crosshair sight. Ruby knew at once that it was a special support weapon similar to hers and the ones Huntsmen and Huntresses used meaning that this was one of the few villains who really rolled in that branch of heroes. That also meant that it was about to fire, and Ruby only had seconds to leap up and away with her Quirk to avoid the shot that was aimed at her.

Whatever the cane fired, it wasn't normal ammunition but some sort of explosive ammunition, likely Dust enhanced given that he'd just tried to rob a Dust store, that blew a hole in the road where Ruby had been. Thank god she'd avoided it in time and landed looking around for the villain. She knew that she should just stay here, let the cops and better yet a hero, likely one of the huntsmen as Vale was where one of the 4 special Huntsmen agencies in Japan, Beacon, was located, but she couldn't. Ruby was going to be a hero and a hero acted rather than waited.

It took a moment as Ruby looked around realizing that the shot had been as much to distract her as to potentially kill her to find the villain getting away, climbing a fire escape ladder to the roof of a nearby building. Ruby had to go after him but her first port of call was the shop keeper and she turned to look at the old man.

"You ok if I go after him?" Ruby asked the man as he reached the broken door and he just nodded amazed at what she'd done.

That was enough for Ruby, and she took off after the villain. If she had her provisional license like Yang she'd close Crescent Rose and use her Quirk but she didn't so she kept it open and leapt into the air as she reached the building, her weapon pointing down so that she could fire two shots that took her up the side of the building in seconds and she landed as the villain was halfway across the roof.

"Hey." Ruby said to him, Crescent Rose at the ready to deal with the villain. "Stop right there."

"You're a persistent little brat, aren't you." Torchwick said with a growl as he reached the edge, but he knew he was free as he heard the engines of his ride whir and it began to lift up, piloted by his client herself who was a nasty bitch with an equally nasty Quirk to match.

A second later a special plane, one of the ones made by the Schnee Dust Company for cargo transport that could take off from a vertical position using thrusters that then moved to fly it away, appeared up from the alley. How the plane was hidden and why a villain had something like it was beyond Ruby though she presumed, correctly, that Quirks were involved in the theft of it.

She wasn't fast enough to get there as the plane was already by the side of the roof with the cargo bay door open and Torchwick simply climbed inside it. He then turned and showed Ruby that he had a large, red, crystal of pure fire Dust in his hand that he tossed out at her.

"End of the line red, this time you won't avoid it." Torchwick said as he aimed at the crystal. "Best to make sure that someone like you never becomes a serious problem for me in the future."

Ruby's eyes went wide as she knew what that meant and instantly leapt back as she tried to avoid it. She'd use her Quirk and speed away as this was clearly a self-preservation exception, and she wasn't going to die tonight. However, before she could the blast hit the crystal and it exploded.

Ruby expected to be blasted back in a fireball that she'd hopefully survive but be in hospital for a while, but she'd be out of it before the entrance exam and braced herself for the explosion, but it never came. She held for a moment before looking up and staring at what, or more accurately who, was before her.

Standing before Ruby, a riding crop of all things raised in her hand, was a tall, stunning blonde woman in a long-sleeved white blouse with a high collar though the middle of the chest was cut out and a tantalizing glimpse of her impressive cleavage was on display, a short black and purple cape and black pencil skirt with matching tights and high heeled boots. She had a neutral expression on her face as she adjusted the glasses over her startling green eyes.

In front of her riding crop was a purple shield of telekinetic force that had stopped the blast and saved Ruby. How the woman had arrived and so quickly was anyone's guess, but Ruby didn't mind as she knew who the woman was right away. She was Glynda Goodwitch, the deputy head of the Beacon Huntsmen Agency and one of the top ranked Huntresses in the nation and she had a damned powerful Quirk.

Glynda Goodwitch, Quirk: Telekinesis. Ms. Goodwitch can move or control objects with her mind and erect shields of pure force though for maximum effect she uses her riding crop to control and direct her Quirk. It's strong enough to reassemble broken rubble which unfortunately means that she kinda gets used as a janitor at times.

She held the pose for a moment before thrusting her arm back and forward again to send out several beams of concentrated force at the airship to knock it off course and force it to land where the villains inside it could be arrested. Glynda knew she could stop it once it was falling, she just needed to ensure that it couldn't flee first.

Unfortunately for her, while the blast rocked the ship, which in the close proximity to building wasn't good at all and Glynda knew she'd face a write up for this when it was all said and done, it didn't end its flight, nor did it dislodge the villain that had just tried to kill the girl on the rooftop. That was all Torchwick needed as he hurried to the cockpit to tell his client that they had a Huntress and to deal with it as he lunged for the controls to take over.

Glynda and Ruby didn't see what was going on, but they saw the thrusters move showing that it was about to leave. Glynda wasn't about to let that happen and sent a blast of force at it again, this one singular and concentrated to really blow a hole in the side of the hull just behind the cockpit and damage it so much that it couldn't fly. Alas the earlier blast and the change in pilots had caused it to rock more and the blast missed flying harmlessly into the air.

That allowed the clearly female pilot to get to the back by the open cargo bay door. All Glynda and Ruby could see of her was her lower half of high heels, long shapely legs, and the bottom part of a red and gold dress. Then a ball of what looked like fire appeared in her hand and the woman threw it at Glynda. It wasn't actually fire in the technical sense but looked like it and that would throw off the investigation into the Quirk that the villain had though it wasn't officially registered regardless. Not that that mattered right now as Glynda got up another telekinetic shield that absorbed the blast.

However, whatever Quirk this villain had it caused splash damage and embers of the attack landed on the roof burning into it and that was apparently what the woman needed. She seemed to be able to control the splash damage and caused it to ignite, only Glynda's years of training allowed her to flip back with a one hand handspring to avoid it as rubble was thrown up from the explosion but that was just what Glynda needed.

As strong as her blasts were, they were nothing compared to when she could use physical objects with it and used the shards of rubble to form a long, swirling, spiked javelin that she threw at the plane, controlling it all with her riding crop for maximum effect. The woman in the plane however blasted a few balls of fire at it and destroyed half of it and showing just how dangerous she was before it was on them but at the last second Torchwick, now in the pilot's seat, turned the plane to the side do that the shards of roof off the top of the plane, the metal stronger than the weakened pieces of roof.

Glynda didn't give up however and reformed it to swirl around and under the plane aiming for the interior this time. She was conducting the shards with her crop the way a maestro would conduct an orchestra and all Ruby could do was watch in amazement at the sheer control of her Quirk that Glynda had. No wonder this woman was a top tier Huntress and Ruby wanted to be as strong as she was one day.

Still the villain in the plane was clearly not one to be messed with either as she formed a circle of fire around her and blasted it out and around the plane to destroy the rest of the roof pieces before they could reach the plane. With them gone there was nothing more to be done and the plane was in the proper position to fly off which it did letting the villains get away.

Ruby wasn't going to let that happen however and turned Crescent Rose into its pure rifle form and fired three shots at the woman villain in the plane. However, she stopped each one of them with a burst of flames somehow and then move her arms creating more of those fire circles on the roof around the two females on the roof. Glynda saw this and used her Quirk to toss the petite red clad girl away before leaping after her as the roof exploded though with much less force. Still, that was the distraction that the villains needed to ensure that they got away for good this time.

"You're a Huntress, Ms. Goodwitch, right?" Ruby asked as she slowly got to her feet looking at the older woman with her and went into full fangirl mode. "Can I have your autograph!"

The woman just gave her a blank stare and then turned to walk away. Ruby was disappointed but she now saw how good a top tier Huntress was and what to aspire to be one day. However, she wasn't actually done as she suddenly felt her arms bound to her sides and she was hoisted into the air and after the woman. This couldn't be good.

Ruby had no idea where she was going, and she didn't like that but all she could do was deal with it as she was escorted away and to the police station though the special area for Huntsmen and Huntresses. This was now not good, and while she was freed from Glynda's Quirk she was deprived of her sweetheart and then led into an interrogation room and directed to sit at the table there. Doing so she did, and the stern blonde woman walked behind her finally speaking for the first time.

"I hope you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly young lady, you put yourself and others in great danger with what you did." Glynda said walking behind Ruby her heels clacking on the ground as she did which only added to the intimidating atmosphere that Ruby was in. "You can't just act like that whenever you want."

"It wasn't my fault, they started it, I was only acting in self-defense." Ruby said though she knew that that would only fly for the henchmen and not the main villain as she'd chased after him. "And I didn't use my Quirk except in a life-or-death situation and even then only to avoid, I used my weapon which I have a license to carry and use in self-defense. Check my purse, my license is in there."

"Yes I am aware of that, you at least keep that license on you, and you are not wrong you didn't break any laws today." Glynda said still pacing. "So legally you aren't in trouble though I am sure that your father won't like having to pay for the damages you caused to the street and that shop."

"So why am I here then?" Ruby asked as she gulped at what would happen when her dad found out about her actions and what it would cost him.

"Because of what you did has gotten the attention of someone important though if it was up to me you'd be sent right home with a pat on the back." Glynda said as she walked around the table to finally face Ruby who smiled at that before she saw the stern look Glynda gave her and that fell. "And a slap on the wrist with my crop for your unnecessary risks."

She emphasized this part by actually slapping her riding crop on the table before Ruby. It wasn't at her wrist by it still caused the girl to jump back and Glynda let out a sigh at that.

"But the person who you got the attention of is here and who would like to meet you." Glynda said as she walked away and out of the dark a man that Ruby hadn't noticed until now approached the table.

He wasn't unremarkable that was for sure. He was tall with short, slight messy, silver hair, colored spectacles on his nose and wearing a black suit with a green turtleneck under it. In one hand he carried a tray of chocolate chip cookies, Ruby's absolute favorite type of cookie, and in the other a mug of hot cocoa with the Beacon logo on it.

"Ruby Rose." The man said as he approached her and leant forward staring intently into her eyes. "You have silver eyes."

"Um…" Ruby said not sure what to make of the man but knowing she had to have seen him before as he seemed familiar. "Yeah, I get them from my mother."

"I see and where did you learn how to do this." The man said not giving away that he was well aware of who Ruby got her eyes from as he gestured with his head to a tablet in Glynda's hand that showed Ruby's fight with the henchmen, it was even more impressive to her on the screen then it had felt when she'd done it. "Been a while since I've seen someone wield a scythe with this kind of skill."

"S, Signal Academy." Ruby admitted flushing a little at that. "I'm on the Huntress track there that's why I have the weapon's license and can use it."

"They taught you how to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?" The man asked sounding both amazed and impressed. "A weapon considered to be the hardest to master that until today when I saw you're skill with it I thought that only one person had ever succeeded in doing so."

"Well one teacher in particular taught me once I forged it." Ruby said. "He was my inspiration for it as he uses one as well, well sometimes he does."

"I see." The man said knowing exactly who she was talking about, and it all confirmed what he had to say to the girl as he put the plate of cookies in front of her that Ruby paused for only a second before eating one and then after realizing how good they were really digging into them. "It's just that I've only ever seen one other scythe wielder of that skill before, so it is a surprise to see another, especially one so young as yourself as the other one is a dusty old crow."

"Oh, he's my uncle." Ruby said through a mouthful of cookie that she had to swallow before continuing as she realized how rude it was to speak with your mouth full. "I mean that's my uncle Qrow, he taught me how to use it. Now I'm all like…"

Ruby devolved into making strange noises and chops with her arms. The man smiled at this, yes she was definitely worth what he had for her, and he was sure that it was the best avenue for her given the other option wasn't as conducive to her skills.

"So, I've noticed." He said taking a sip of cocoa before putting it down on the table. "However, that does beg the question of what is an adorable girl like yourself doing at a school designed to train Huntsmen and Huntresses for acceptance into the various hero programs around the country, one which almost always churns out at least one U.A. or Shiketsu acceptance a year."

"Well, that's just it." Ruby said suddenly getting serious as the man sat down opposite her. "I want to be a Huntress. My dad and mom were, well dad still is a Huntsman, but he only really does small jobs on Patch where we live cos mom died in the field, and my sister is on the Huntress path at U.A., she's number 3 in the whole class there so I want to become one as well."

Ruby paused at that to see if her explanation was enough for the man before here. When he didn't say anything she got nervous and decided to fill the budding awkwardness with more babble about why she wanted to be a Huntress.

"I've been training hard at Signal and I'm going to take the U.A. in a few months' time." Ruby continued her nerves clear in her voice. "I know it's hard to get into but it's my dream to be a Huntress hero, to help people all over the country be it from Grimm which is our main job within the hero services or just normal people who need a hero. I've never been in this for money or fame or whatever, it's to help people hence the Huntress route, well that and the fact that it is the path that my family has followed so I want to join them in that regard."

Ruby was going complete word vomit at this point as she just babbled about how much she wanted to be a Huntress and where she wanted to go and how romantic it all was to help people like her parents had done and said. It was full nervous rambling at this point and the man just had to end it.

"Do you know who I am?" He asked her bluntly cutting off her rant and at that question Ruby put it all together who the man was and why he was here with Glynda, and it took all her self-control to not break or fangirl towards the man before her.

"Yes, I recognize you as Professor Ozpin." Ruby said with a nod as it all came back to her. "The head of Beacon Huntsmen Agency and the number one ranked Huntsman in Japan putting you on par with All Might and the Wizard King Julius Novachrono in terms of skill and prestige though only the former is in a ranking system that is official only the standard heroes are publicly ranked. I am right, aren't I?"

"Yes." Ozpin confirmed.

"Nice to meet you." Ruby said her nerves returning again as she looked at the man at the top of the hero field she wanted to enter.

"So, you want to go to U.A.?" Ozpin asked knowing this was a girl he'd have to keep an eye on, and as he already knew her sister and father it wouldn't be hard to do so.

"More than anything." Ruby said with a nod of her head.

"Very well." Ozpin said looking to Glynda who just rolled her eyes and nodded in agreement at what he was about to do. "Then I'll recommend you to U.A."

"Come again?" Ruby asked blinking.

"You heard me; I'll recommend you." Ozpin said as if it was the simplest thing in the world. "I am the top Huntsman in the nation, I have a lot of clout and say, and I did go to U.A. myself back in the day. As such I have the ability to recommend one or two applicants a year without question and I haven't used my recommendations yet as I prefer to find people like you Ruby who have a passion for it and show the skill and training already. So, with your approval I'll fill out the form tonight and send to Principal Nezu. He'll approve it and in a few months' time you will take the recommended exam at U.A."

"The recommended exam." Ruby said her eyes wide now at the offer that she'd just been given. "That's, that's different isn't it?"

"Correct, you will have to change your training and you can't bring Crescent Rose as there is no actual combat in it so even those who have already declared Huntsman or Huntress intentions and have the necessary weapon permits can't use them." Ozpin said. "The recommended exam will consist of a written test that is the same as the one you'd take normally, followed by a special Quirk test that I won't say as you are to not know it beforehand, and finally an interview with a member of staff at U.A., in your case one of the qualified Huntsmen on staff there. The choice is yours, but I think this is better for you and your skills."

"It is?" Ruby asked surprised by that. "I was just planning on using Crescent Rose to deal with the entrance exam practical and my Quirk when needed for speed be it saving people or getting to wherever I have to get to during the exam. Depending on what the exam entails."

"You can do that, and I think you have the talents to pass that way, but you will show off Crescent Rose more than your actual Quirk during in the exam which is both a positive and a negative." Ozpin said. "The recommended exam is better suited for you I feel as it will be more conducive to showing off your Quirk. Every year a few of the students let in on recommendations, or at least those given a chance, are students with hero level Quirks but which the normal entrance exam isn't suited for. In fact, which is why the recommended system began, not because of elites looking for a way to get their kids into U.A. but because of Quirks that weren't suited for the main exam or in a few cases too powerful for it."

"Huh I didn't think about it like that." Ruby said. "Yang took the regular exam and loved it."

"Your sister is a work study student here at Beacon and I know she has a place she lives with another work study student in Musutafu as Patch is just a bit too far from U.A. for a regular commute so I know her well." Ozpin said though Ruby was well aware of all that and it was just another reason why she had to get in because she had to live up to the example that Yang had set for her. "And I know her Quirk, she's very much the ideal candidate through the normal exam. So much so that I dare say that she wouldn't get a recommendation. She also had the highest score since Endeavor in the entrance exam so take that as you will and her match with Luck Voltia in the first Sports Festival final was one to behold."

"I remember." Ruby said recalling it. "I'd never seen her lose before."

"They both earned their rankings at U.A." Ozpin said. "But that's besides the point. I think this is what you should do, I know of a few other recommended candidates this year that are there because of powerful but not easily tested Quirks in the entrance exam, but the choice is yours. As a Huntress candidate going in with a weapon's license you can bring in Crescent Rose so that does negate the disadvantages your Quirk would face in that exam."

"I see, I am honored by this but before I give you my answer there is one thing I want to know." Ruby said. "How many spots are there for recommended students?"

"10 of the 50 spots are set aside for recommended students." Ozpin said. "So long as 10 reach the threshold score that is. If less than that get it then the ones who do get offers, and the rest is made up from the applicants in the normal exam. There will be about 100 to 200 recommended students, so it is a higher acceptance percentage but still competitive."

"That is certainly something to consider." Ruby said as she noted that the recommended exam could be really beneficial on that front alone but shut up at a glance from Ozpin for interrupting him.

"Also, though it has been years since this has been done, the Principal is allowed one special exemption to the rules." Ozpin said as soon as Ruby was quiet. "He can only use it if one a recommended student who is in the top 10 turns down his or her spot, the 11th place student didn't make the cut, and the student in question is otherwise a good fit for U.A. under whatever Nezu thinks is a good fit."

"I doubt that will happen." Ruby said mulling it over, but in reality she'd already known her choice the moment she'd been given this chance, it was too good to turn down and she really wanted to go to U.A. "Alright, I'll take it, thank you sir, I'll do my best to be in that top 10 and pass the threshold."

"I'm sure you will." Ozpin said getting up as Ruby finished the cookies. "Now let's send you back, I'm sure that Tai is worried about you."

Ruby nodded suddenly realizing that she was going to be in so much trouble when she got home and not looking forward to that. Well Yang was still there, and this news was great so that should help mitigate the time that she was going to be grounded for. She just needed to really get into training for the next 9 months because she wasn't going to fail this. Ruby was going to get into U.A. and she was going to be a Huntress, she swore it.

Izuku Midoriya sighed as he turned back to resume his walk and officially give up on his dreams of being a hero. His childhood friend turned bully Katsuki Bakugo, who he called Kacchan, had just left and reminded him that he was a Quirkless failure who hadn't saved him from that sludge villain and Izuku couldn't disagree with that assessment. Boy had it been a day.

As always he was tormented and belittled in class but today was especially bad as it was revealed that he was applying to U.A. for their Hero Course which was allowed even though he was Quirkless and that had led to another bout of bullying. Kacchan by contrast had an amazing and powerful Quirk and a mind for tactics and evaluation that rivaled Izuku's despite his personality, so he was almost a lock to get into U.A., the first from their middle school to do so in years.

That had been reminded to him by Kacchan, including a recommendation to take a swan dive from the roof, and the near destruction of Izuku's latest hero notebook, number 20 though the 13th for the hero branch as the other 7 were in the Quirk Knight and Huntsman branches. Certainly it had been a bad day on that front for Izuku.

Despite being Quirkless, Izuku was still a hero nerd, and All Might fanboy who wanted to be a hero but today had been the day that dream had ended. Sure, with proper training and a weapon he might be able to make it in the Huntsman branch via one of the lower ranked schools though likely his only option after that would be Shade Huntsman Agency which was the worst of the worst for that branch, but Izuku wanted to go to U.A. and be a hero like All Might.

He had nothing against Huntsmen and Huntresses, he greatly respected them as they embodied a lot of the heroic qualities he wanted to emulate, same with the Quirk Knights, and he knew that one of the strongest U.A. rising 3rd years was a Huntress branch hero student, but it wasn't for him. He was going to go after the normal path to being a hero or no path at all.

Alas today, after another bad session with Kacchan, Izuku was on the brink of giving up on being a hero when he was attacked by a Sludge Villain that came out of the sewers and accosted him in a tunnel. That was when All Might himself had saved him and well things devolved from there.

When Izuku came too he was with All Might and then he grabbed onto his hero's leg to be taken away by him to ask his hero some questions. That had been bad as he'd accidentally dislodged the soda bottle with the Sludge Villain in it but that would reappear later. What happened next, though, was a shock to Izuku.

He was take to a rooftop with All Might, well hitched a lift there with him without permission, and there he told All Might his status and All Might said that he couldn't be a hero. He had also learned that 5 years ago All Might had suffered a grievous wound from a villain in his side. The wound had cost All Might his stomach and a good portion of his intestines and he had a nasty scar from it, that left the Number 1 hero a frail, husk of a man who could only be a hero for 3 hours a day.

Between that, a secret that Izuku would keep, and the Kacchan stuff he was completely despairing and on the brink of giving up. That's when he ran into a situation where a bunch of heroes were trying to apprehend the Sludge Villain who'd escaped thanks to Izuku but couldn't as he'd taken a kid hostage and was in a narrow street so Mt. Lady couldn't help despite her size. That was when Izuku saw that the hostage was Kacchan, and the Sludge Villain was trying to take over his body.

Izuku couldn't let that happen and his body acted without thinking as he broke past the barricade and rushed the villain, throwing his bag at it and hitting it in the eye before trying to claw Kacchan out despite the other boy's protests. That had caused All Might to appear and save them both, defeat the villain again, and even change the weather with a single punch.

In the aftermath Izuku was scolded by the other pros at the scene and Kacchan praised but he finally got away and was heading home resuming his giving up of his dream when Kacchan appeared to tell him that Izuku, or Deku as Kacchan called him to make fun of him, hadn't saved him before leaving. Izuku knew that and just carried on his way after Kacchan was done. Little did he know however that he'd accidentally inspired All Might with his actions and his life was about to change in a way that he'd never expected or believed it could.

"I am here!" A voice yelled and Izuku leapt out of his skin in shock as All Might, still in buff form, shot out from a side alley into the alleyway Izuku was in and posed before him.

"All Might, where did you come from?" Izuku asked shocked. "And how did you get rid of all those reporters that were swarming you?"

"Ha, I stand for justice, not soundbites." All Might said with a laugh. "Because I am All.."

All Might didn't finish his statement as his buff form fell and he returned to his normal, weakened, state and he spat out a stream of blood, a side affect of his injury. It was a sudden and stark contrast that caused Izuku to scream while All Might had a coughing fit.

"Young man, I came here to thank you." All Might said seriously once he'd finished coughing and he looked at Izuku. "And also, to discuss your question from earlier. If you hadn't told me about your life, if you hadn't run into that fight I would have been a worthless bystander watching from the crowd so, thanks."

"Oh no, it was my fault that the villain was there to begin with." Izuku said apologetically. "I got in the way of your hard work; I wasted your precious energy and not to mention your time and…"

"I'm not done." All Might said interrupting Izuku. "You told me that you didn't have a power so when I saw this timid, Quirkless boy try to save a life it inspired me to act too."

This got Izuku's attention, and he turned to fully look at his hero. He was giving All Might his undivided attention now.

"There are stories about every hero." All Might began. "How they became great and most have one thing in common, their bodies acted before they had a chance to think almost as if they were acting on their own without any conscious thought."

That had been exactly what Izuku had done, and he was moved and on the brink of tears from that. It was one of the best things he could have heard, especially after a day like this and the words his mother had said after he'd been diagnosed as Quirkless. The emotions were overwhelming, and he lent forward at that barely holding it in at this point.

"And today that's what happened to you." All Might said and the tears finally spilled over for Izuku as he bent forward crying at the words clutching his chest and before he fell to his knees when he heard the words that he'd always wanted to hear and from the man he most respected in the world no less. "Young man, you too can become a hero."

Izuku was now on all fours and crying. He'd heard what he'd needed to hear but that wasn't the end of it as All Might still had more for him. What the Number 1 hero had for Izuku Midoriya would change his life forever.

"Therefore, I deem you worthy of my power." All Might said looking up at the sky his arms to the sides knowing that while this may seem like a rash and sudden decision, especially to a Quirkless boy he'd just met and had to save twice, but never had Toshinori Yagi ever been more certain of something in his live. "My Quirk is yours to inherit."

That was enough to get Izuku. He looked up and gave All Might a strange look as he knew all there was to know about Quirks and he'd never heard of a Quirk that could be transferred, you were born with your Quirk and that was it. As such there was only one thing that Izuku could squeak out.

"Huh?" Izuku said before he finally got his voice back. "What do you mean inherit? Inherit what?"

"You should see your face right now." All Might said with a laugh as he approached Izuku. "Don't worry I'm not going to force it on you, but it is yours if you want it. Listen well young man, this is your choice, do you want to accept my awesome power or not."

All Might had pointed up to the sky as he spoke and then down at Midoriya where he proceeded to cough up more blood. That really ruined the moment for him but oh well he'd gotten his point across and that was the important thing.

"There are a couple of things that you should know about my ability." All Might said recovering and knowing he'd have to explain this to the boy before him so that he was aware of what All Might's power actually was. "Journalists always guess that my Quirk is super strength or some kind of invulnerability of some sorts. When people ask in interviews I always make a joke and dodge the question to avoid it. That's because the world needs to know that their symbol of peace is a natural born hero like any of them but I'm not, there's nothing natural about my ability."

As he was speaking All Might raised his arms before spreading them wide and looking up to the heavens though he wasn't addressing the other aspect of his Quirk as he was certain that that wasn't needed due to the battle 5 years ago that he'd suffered his injuries in. This was his moment to pass it on, something he'd spent a few years working towards, and he was damn well going to be theatrical about it.

"It was a sacred torch that was passed onto me by someone else." All Might said to the sky. "A torch that has been passed down through the generations until this point."

"Someone gave you this Quirk?" Izuku asked confused. "No way."

"Yes way and you're next, I can give you my abilities." All Might said as he lowered his arms and looked at the boy. "If you want them."

"Wait this is a lot to process." Izuku said as his hero nerdiness kicked in and he began to assess what he was being told. "It's true that there is a lot of debate as to what your Quirk actually is, it's one of the worlds greatest mysteries and people are constantly talking about it online. Also, the idea of passing on a Quirk or inheriting it just doesn't make any sense to me, I've never heard that, powers are unique to each person and since the first super power no one has ever been able to just give someone else a power like a present, that's crazy. Sure, there are the occasional Quirks that are completely hereditary, well the only known one is the Schnee family Glyphs Quirk, but that's an exception and…"

"Sounds like you're overthinking this whole inheriting thing." All Might said as the boy continued to mumble and he just snapped. "Stopped nerding out on me."

That did it and Izuku snapped out of it and looked back to All Might. All Might knew that he had him and it was time to bring it home with the boy.

"You will have to adjust your perspective and accept the reality that I can transfer my Quirk to you." All Might said with the appropriate hand gestures and theatrics that such a moment dictated. "And that is just one facet of my secret abilities. The true name for my power is One for All."

"One for All." Izuku said as he began to accept what he was hearing.

"Yes, one person improves the power and then hands it off to another person and it continues to grow as it is passed along through the generations." All Might said his hand out and an odd glow in it before it faded as he closed his hand into a fist. "It is this cultivated power that has allowed me to save those who are in need of a hero, the truth behind my strength."

"But why would you choose to give me a gift like that." Izuku asked. "What if I can't live up to it?"

"I was on a long hunt for a worthy successor in the last year or so as my injury began to take its toll on my time as a hero." All Might said. "And then I watched you jump into action as the rest of us stood idly by. You may just be a Quirkless fanboy, but you tried to save that kid, you acted like a hero and more so than any of the heroes present."

At this Izuku began to cry at the words All Might was saying to him. The Number 1 hero believed in him, believed that he was worthy of this gift that was beyond anything he could have ever received. He was on the verge of more tears flowing like before.

"Seriously you got to stop crying so much if you want my Quirk." All Might said. "Come on kid, do you want it or not."

Izuku took those words and his fist clenched on his pants as he steeled himself. All Might believed in him, he told Izuku the secret of his Quirk, how could Izuku turn him down now, especially when his dream was finally being given to him and by All Might no less. Wiping his eyes on his sleeve, Izuku steadied himself and rose to his feet at last.

"Ok I'll do it, yes." Izuku said seriously and without hesitation in his voice.

"No reluctance, that exactly how I figured you'd respond." All Might said with a grin. "This will not be an easy path and will take time before I can give you my Quirk, but we have it, and we are starting bright an early tomorrow at the crack of dawn at Takoba Municipal Beach Park."

All Izuku did was nod, he knew it would be tough, but he was going to do whatever it took to be a hero, to be worthy of this power and trust form All Might. This day was the start of his hero journey and across Japan two other hero journeys were also begging and soon they'd all converge on one place as the training for U.A.'s entrance exams began in earnest.

Well, here is the first chapter of this long and winding story that I hope goes well. Blending RWBY and Black Clover into the MHA world isn't too hard given how adaptable the Semblances and Magic Attributes are and with Semblances they are basically the same thing with only changes being if the name needs to change due to a Quirk already having that name. As for the magic, well that is a little harder and needs to be a little more tailored to work as a Quirk which is easier with some than others and the names of them are more based off what the people can do in Black Clover but more on that when we see those who are from that series with the same attribute. On the Asta front, I know it is odd for him to have a Quirk now but as Deku is the Quirkless hero here I needed to tailor Asta more to being a late bloomer while keeping as much of his abilities the same hence the sword summoning and it being Anti-Quirk as his power. I will do my best to keep Asta's development and acquisitions or appearances as close as I can but as I said, there will be changes to fit into the MHA canon and lore which is the governing lore in this story. One big example is renaming the Magic Knights to the Quirk Knights to fit though all other names are the same and I kept Wizard King as a title because it still works I feel. As for the three-branch theory, that is basically how I am going to bring in the other two series to have their own lines to work with but of course all this is going to be mixed together and overarching when and wherever possible, this just shows more to the world and the branches will have different focuses. The last thing I really have to say is on the Ruby focused section. Firstly, the explanation of Ruby's Quirk is basically how Penny explains her Semblance in Volume 8 with only the negation of mass removed as that is seems inaccurate given that Ruby does seem to have mass when she moves (and the part added at the end), so I personally see that one in Penny and not Present Mic's voice. Lastly, I opted to have Ruby go the recommended route as there will be more due to the increased class sizes I'm having and because that is actually how Ruby got into Beacon, Ozpin effectively recommended her and she bypassed the exam two years early (though in this she's the same age while all but one of the RWBY characters who has been aged down have already started at U.A., Shiketsu, or Ketsubutsu) so I feel that having Ruby take the recommended exam, through Ozpin's recommendation, makes more sense and gives Ruby her own focused admissions test chapter that will be coming soon. Anyway, that is all I have for y'all, sorry for the long notes but this is a new and challenging story so I kinda needed them.
