Greetings, Mgunnels3, and welcome to A Promise Kept Ash's Johto Journey. A little to say. Let's get this chapter going.

Chapter 19: Misty and the Dancing Totodile

"Human Speech"

"Pokemon Speech"

We joined our heroes at a nearby river, hoping to fish for some new Pokemon for either Ash or Misty's teams. Ash had Croconaw, and Misty had her Slowpoke out if they sensed anything.

"Man, this is boring. We have been at this all morning, and nothing has been biting," Ash said to Misty, who sighed at this and had to admit that Ash was right.

"I hate to admit it, Ash. But you are right. I heard that a Pokemon has been battling trainers as they travel through this area from the extravaganza. The Pokemon in question has gained a reputation for making trainers lose in battle, but I am hoping that isn't a rumor," Misty said to Ash.

"I heard that too, Ash, and it wasn't just one trainer who said that, but most of them," Slowbro said to Ash. Ash would say something as they heard noises coming from nearby bushes, like singing a voice that Croconaw almost recognize

"Hey, you heard that it sounded like singing?" Ash said to everyone, who nodded at this. "Let's go check it out quietly," Ash said as the group put up their fishing poles and headed toward where the singing was. They saw a dancing Pokemon, not just any Pokemon but a Totodile, and the voice was female, not male like Ash's Croconaw was.

"One trainer, two trainers, three trainers, no trainers. All are easy to beat and not worth my time," Totodile sang while dancing one foot at a time, acting all smug while saying that, similar to someone Croconaw knew.

"Wow, a Totodile. I wasn't expecting one out in the wild. Did you know of this Croconaw?" Ash asked his water starter, who nodded at this and glared at Ash.

"Not all of us starters started at the lab. Remember, Ash Cyndaquil was a wild one as well. As for that Totodile? I think that's my little sister. She loves to dance and brag about how strong she is compared to us and where I get my confidence from," Croconaw explained to Ash and the others. Totodile heard some commotion and was mad that her dancing was interrupted.

"You know that I can hear you all. Why don't you come on out? It's not nice to interrupt a lady when she boasts about her wins?" Totodile said to Ash and the others. Misty came out when Totodile called her and her friends out like that.

"Sorry about that, but I am a water-type expert and a gym leader, and I was hoping to add someone beating trainers out here to my team. I was taken by how you bragged that you are that Pokemon every trainer was talking about, Totodile?" Misty said to Totodile, who laughed and danced to hear what Misty said.

"Oh? As a gym leader, you say that's a first that anyone of that caliber challenges me. Maybe you won't run and cry when I beat your team," Totodile said to Misty, who stayed calm and nodded at this.

"Staryu, come on out," Misty sent her primary water type on her team that she was known for. Totodile stares down the starfish Pokemon and lets Misty go first. "Okay, Staryu, uses swift attack," Misty commands her Pokemon, who launched a flurry of stars towards Totodile, who launched a water gun at it, a powerful one no, that wasn't a water gun but a Hydro Pump. "Staryu tackle attack to dodge," Misty commands her Pokemon, who spins towards Totodile, who uses a slash attack, hitting Staryu hard-knocking it out.

"Not bad, human. Most trainers' Pokemon typically lose to my Hydro Pump. But right now, I need to get going. If you want me that badly? I'm not leaving this area anytime soon, or are your friends here willing to battle me, or is that Croconaw the only one they need?" Totodile laughed and dove into the river, and swam off.

"Staryu, you okay?" Misty asked her Pokemon, who nodded weakly before fainting as she returned her Pokemon with Togepi beside her, now concerned about this.

"Misty, are you sure you still want to keep trying to catch Totodile? I mean, she is stronger than a normal one," Brock asked Misty, who nodded at this before turning to Brock and handing him Staryu to heal it. "Okay, I'll heal him, but Staryu won't be able to battle for the rest of the day. You know that, Misty?" Brock said to Misty, who nodded at this. Ash was about to say something to Croconaw but noticed it was missing.

"Croconaw? Hey, has anyone seen him?" Ash asked everyone as Slowbro walked to Ash.

"I think he went after where Totodile went. He mentioned that she might be his little sister Ash remember?" Slowbro told Ash, who was as worried about Croconaw as Ash.

Meanwhile, with Totodile, who was examining her claw, the gem on Staryu damaged her.

"I must admit that human isn't kidding about her being a gym leader. Not many Pokemon managed to harm me, let alone make me want to battle one again," Totodile said as Croconaw approached her in the water.

"You haven't changed, sis, always wanting a challenge," Croconaw said to Totodile, who was surprised by this. Totodile saw the Croconaw in the water with her as she hugged him.

"Big brother, it's been too long. I didn't realize that was you with those humans, so a starter now, huh?" Totodile said to Croconaw with a smirk.

"I've been through a battle and a gym battle with that black-haired human named Ash. Misty, the one who challenged you, isn't kidding, as she is a gym leader, and when it comes to water types. She's good at it," Croconaw said to his sister, who nodded.

"Is she with you, bro? I was hoping that she would come and face me again," Totodile said while puffing her chest at this, hoping for a challenge as Croconaw shook his head, and she instantly pouts.

"No, not yet, but knowing Ash, he's looking for me and will be here soon enough," Croconaw said, seeing Pidgeot in the sky, and sighed. "Yep, one of his Pokemon searchings for me, sis. Misty is determined to catch you, so don't go too hard on her. Please, we don't have a Pokemon center close by where we are, and only so many options to help their Pokemon out," Croconaw suggested to his sister, who nodded in understanding as to what her brother was asking.

"If I knock out her third Pokemon, I'll join her team. She's the first human to make me want to join a team like hers," Totodile told Croconaw, who nodded.

"You are always good at keeping your promises when you set your mind. That's why I look up to you as my sister," Croconaw said just as Ash arrived where he and Totodile were at.

"Ah, Misty, is it coming back for more?" Totodile said while hopping up on the rocks as Croconaw went to Ash's side to get out of this battle. Misty pulled out a Pokeball.

"Poliwag, come on out," Misty called out her next Pokemon. However, it wasn't a Poliwag, but somehow it evolved into a Poliwhirl without Misty noticing. "You evolve. I know I used you to get Slowpoke, but I wasn't expecting you to evolve now?" Misty said to her Pokemon, ready to battle against the Totodile. Totodile was surprised to find out about this.

Totodile used Hydro Pump to send it to Poliwhirl.

"Counter with Bubblebeam Poliwhirl," Misty commands her Pokemon. As the two moves clashed hard as Poliwhirl went missing and was underwater. "Now mega Punch Poliwhril," Misty commands her Pokemon as Totodile used Bite on Poliwhirls arm mid Punch as she was dancing while clenched on Poliwhirl's hand, slamming him on the ground as Totodile tossed Poliwhirl and used Iron Tail on it. Togepi wasn't having this and somehow was floating from all this. Misty was surprised as Togepi used Safeguard and Swift to hit Totodile.

"To...Togepi?" Misty said to Togepi, who nodded at this and started to glow. She was holding back from not being used as it evolved with wings and was in the air as Ash scanned Togepi and was shown to be a Flying/Normal type known as Togetic. "Togetic, please let me use your power together?" Misty said to Togetic, who nodded at this.

"Misty, thank you for taking care of me. Now it's my turn to return the favor," Togetic said to Misty, who sounded female. Misty nodded at this and stared down at Totodile after returning Poliwhirl. "I know Metronome, Swift, and Safeguard as the moves I know. Use them wisely for now," Togetic said to Misty, who nodded at this, though Metronome would explain many things that happened in the Orange Islands now that Togetic mentioned it.

"Alright, Togetic uses swift," Misty commands her Pokemon, who used that move on Totodile, who recovered from that attack and used Hydro Pump. Only to be hit by the Normal type of move. Misty tried to use this to her advantage seeing Totodile struggling to get up, pulled out one of her Lure balls, and tossed it. Totodile was sucked in, and the ball was shaking twice but escaped. She wasn't going to be caught that easily.

"Use Metronome Togetic," Misty had no choice but a desperate move hoping to land on a good move for Togetic. Totodile using this to her advantage, used Slash hoping to get to the Normal type before she could launch her move. Togetic landed on a hyper beam hitting Totodile hard, sending her back hard, barely standing up.

"Just give up, sis, it's not worth you getting hurt anymore," Croconaw told Totodile, who hated to admit it she did, but she didn't have the strength to continue and nodded at Misty.

"Okay, let's try this again. GO Lure ball," Misty tossed her new Pokeball as it sucked the Totodile in, and with three shakes, Totodile was caught. Misty lets out her new capture. "Welcome to the team Totodile. I can understand you, thanks to Ash's Slowbro here, but I'm here if you ever need me or want to get stronger?" Misty told Totodile, who nodded at this and looked at her brother.

"Misty, we Totodiles strive to be stronger. You don't have to worry that this is my baby sister and why I am who I am. Wanted to get stronger and all that," Croconaw introduced Totodile to the team.

"I understand, thanks, Croconaw," Misty said as Totodile made a cute little dance. Misty turned to Togetic. "What are you going to do now, Togetic? I missed you, and you can barely be held in my arms?" Misty said to Togetic, who shook her head.

"No, you already caught me when you weren't looking when we were in the Orange Islands, Misty. I knew that one day I would evolve. I've been the reason why a few things have been happening. Like the incident that caused the explosion with Team Rocket and you all being teleported," Togetic said to Misty. Who was taken aback by this but nodded?

"I'd say she saved us more than once. She earned a spot on your team. Misty and I say she will be more than easy to keep an eye on now instead of worrying about her going missing," Ash said to Misty as Togetic pointed to her Pokeball in Misty's bag and was sucked in.

"At least I won't have to baby her anymore. However, I should've paid more attention to how she acted during our Journey in the Orange Islands and figured that Metronome was the cause of different moments when we were in danger," Misty said to Ash and Brock, who nodded.

"Yeah, we knew that something was off on two occasions. The first was with Casey and Butch, and the other was at the Pink Pokemon preservation when we were attacked," Ash said to Misty, who nodded. "I'd say maybe the former of the two was a coincidence, but we were teleported, so I guess Togetic's Metronome helped out there," Ash said. Misty and Brock nodded and let things go from there.

The group grabs their things and heads off for Goldenrod now that this detour is over.

With the evolution and a new teammate for Misty, the Journey throughout Johto has improved as the Journey continues.

Stay tuned.

Done, man. This chapter took a while to write. Yes, both of Misty's Pokemon evolved. Since Ash and Misty aren't fighting over Totodile, I felt that Misty's Poliwhirl should evolve right about now. As for Togepi, since she has been with Misty long enough, it should evolve outside of that episode in Hoenn. Someone suggested that for a flying competition like Pokeringers later on. A chapter focused on the daycare is next. See you guys next time. We are two chapters from the end of the story's first act.
