Greetings, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to A Promise Kept Ash's Johto Journey. Let's get the Chapter that many of you were ready for this battle, shall we?

Chapter 33: Tyson vs. Drew

It was time for the last match of the top 8 battle of the grass-type tournament. Drew and Tyson were walking over to the battlefield. This battle was going to be good, given that these two knew each other's Pokemon and were prepared for this battle. It would be a one-on-one battle, given that Drew has only one grass type on his team.

"Rosella, come on out," Drew sent out his first Pokemon.

"Grovyle, come on out," Tyson sends out his grass starter. Ash was in the stands watching this, knowing that he would be facing one of these two at some point in the tournament and knew nothing about either Pokemon.

Both Pokemon were ready to face each other as the ref for the battle was now prepared to get this battle going.

"Rosellia vs. Grovyle, the winner of this battle, will be moving on to the next round, so let the battle begin," the ref announced.

"Rosellia, use Magical leaf," Drew commanded his Pokemon, who fired the leaves at Grovyle.

"Counter it with Leaf Blade," Tyson commanded her, who sliced right through the leaves and towards Rosellia—slashed Rosellia with her leaf arms sending Rosellia back to her trainer.

"Humph, you haven't changed Tyson, always wanting to go head-on in these battles," Drew said to Tyson, who smirked at this.

"Keep telling yourself that, Drew, I will win this battle this time," Tyson thought.

"Rosellia, use Sludge bomb," Drew commanded his Pokemon, who fired her attack at Grovyle.

"Dragons, breath now," Tyson commanded his Pokemon, who fired an attack that Ash recognized Damien used the last time they fought. It hits the attack destroying it and then hitting Rosellia, paralyzing it.

"Use aromatherapy," Drew commanded her, who used said move to remove the paralyzation Tyson and Drew smirked, knowing that this battle was starting.

"Man, those two are showing why they are rivals," Ash thought, excited about all this. "Drew isn't the type to let this lying down. He must have something up his sleeve."

"Not bad, Drew, but I'm only getting started here," Tyson said to Drew, who smiled at this.

"Bring it. Right now, you're just talking. Why not back it up? Use Pin Missle," Drew commanded Roselia, who fired a barrage of missiles right at Grovyle, dodging it quickly but only to be hit by one of the missiles.

"Use Aerial Ace," Tyson commanded his Pokemon. Drew was caught off guard as Grovyle was in the air and slammed right into Roselia hard. Everyone in the audience was in awe. This was many of their first time seeing that move and from its looks. It looked to be super effective.

"A flying type move? Figured that you waited until I let my guard down to fight back with that," Drew said to Tyson.

"Seem's like we both revealed our secret weapon here in this match, Drew?" Tyson said to Drew, who groaned at this.

"He baited me to use that move while taking the brunt of the attacks to let my guard down. Tyson has gotten better than the last time we battled, but I won't let my guard down this time," Drew thought.

"Drew has been studying me during this tournament and anticipated my every move until now. I have to keep up the pressure," Tyson thought. "Use Leaf Blade," Tyson commanded his Pokemon, whose arms glowed and charged at Roselia.

"Detect now," Drew commanded her, who dodged the attack. This took Tyson aback. Drew commanded, "Use Sludge bomb," just as she avoided it. Grovyle was hit by this and was poisoned and sent back to Tyson.

"This battle is getting interesting, ladies and gentlemen, but the thing is who will blink next," The announcer said as everyone was at the edge of their seats.

"Dragon Breath now," Tyson commanded his Pokemon, who fired its attack at Roselia.

"Pin Missle," Drew commanded her, who fired the attack right at the dragon's breath as both hit each other. Both refuse to give up and fall on such attacks. However, the damage from this battle shows that both were at their limits.

"End this with Solar Beam," They commanded as they powered up and fired their attacks right at each other. Only to fizzle out as both of them were exhausted.

"Pin Missle," Drew commanded her and fired said the attack at Grovyle.

"Dodge it with Aerial Ace," Tyson commanded his Pokemon, bobbing and weaving out of the Pin missile barrage attack and landing her mark at Roselia. Roselia was sent to the ground struggling to get up as the poison effects took their toll on Grovyle. One of them would fall soon enough. Then it happened one did fall. It was Roselia, much to both Drew and Tyson's surprise.

"Roselia is unable to battle Grovyle wins, and moving on to the final four of the grass-type tournament is Tyson," the ref announced as Tyson celebrated as Drew sighed at this.

"Close battle, I must say," Drew returned Roselia as he walked over to Tyson, who returned Grovyle so the Poison won't linger.

"Good battle, Drew. It could've gone either way," Tyson said, holding out a handshake for Drew, who nodded at this and accepted the handshake.

"You won today, but don't think that next battle won't end the same you are my rival after all, and I will come up with something else for our next battle," Drew said with his usual tone, which Tyson sighed at this and let go of the handshake. As the two left for the Pokemon center as it was announced that the next battle would be Ash vs. Erika in the next battle, which would happen tomorrow. After Tyson and Drew got their Pokemon healed, Drew took his leave.

"Drew? Your leaving?" Ash asked Drew, who turned around and nodded at this.

"Yeah, I'm out of the tournament, but we'll see each other in the other tournaments here in Johto," Drew said to Ash, who smiled at this.

"Ash. When I saw you in the crowd of contestants, I was hoping to battle you, but it seemed like that would happen at another time. Until then, I'll be seeing you around, and best of luck in your matches," Drew said before turning around and leaving.

"He hasn't changed one bit. Always as snarky as ever," Tyson said to Ash, who nodded. "But yet he speaks the truth rather you like it or not."

"Yeah, that's true, but he knows how to talk to rivals as people, not those in his way," Ash said as Tyson nodded at this.

"By the way, Ash, I will use two Pokemon when we battle. You've only seen one of mine during this tournament," Tyson said, crossing his arms at Ash, who was taken aback by this. "Until then, I wish you the best of luck in your match against Erika," Tyson said before leaving to tend to his Grovyle.

Ash nodded as he knew that if he wanted to battle against Tyson, he would have to beat one last opponent. Erika and Ash knew he would need to use more than one Pokemon to beat her Ash smiled at this before heading back to the center.

With the grass-type tournament now in the final four, things are turning out better than expected as Ash is now faced with Erika to progress into the next round as the grass-type tournament continues.

Stay tuned.

Done and done. Yes, this Chapter was short, shorter than my usual ones, but what is it to expect for a chapter like this and no evolutions or something significant to blow out of the water of a plot twist at the end of this Chapter? Nothing but just a good fun battle between rivals. And yes, we will see Drew more often. Sadly Tyson will be gone until Hoenn after this tournament. There will not be updates this month for this story other than new chapters every other week. Next time it's Ash vs. Erika. See you all next time.
