Greetings, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to A Promise Kept Ash's Johto Journey. I hope you all enjoy the story so far, as we are about to end this Tournament right here.
Chapter 35: Kanto vs. Hoenn Ash vs. Tyson
"Human Speech"
"Pokemon Speech"
The battle against Ash and Tyson was about to begin as both Bayleef and Nuzleaf were about ready to throw down.
"Bayleef vs. Nuzleaf, let this battle begin," the ref announced as Ash and Tyson were ready.
"Alright, Bayleef, use Razor Leaf," Ash commanded her and fired leaves at Nuzleaf.
"Use Razor wind," Nuzleaf commanded, who slashed the leaves with the wind before hitting Bayleef. "Now use Faint Attack," Tyson commanded his Pokemon, who vanished and was about to attack Bayleef.
"Use Earthquake," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who slammed her legs on the floor as it stopped Nuzleaf in his tracts. "Now, Ancient Power," Ash commanded her and fired Rocks at Nuzleaf. Tyson was impressed by this as it seemed like Ash was aware of how much time it takes for Faint attack to land.
"Use Rollout," Tyson commanded his Pokemon, who rolled at Bayleef, hitting Bayleef. Ash grunted at this, not thinking he would face this move again.
"Use Earthquake Bayleef," Ash commanded Bayleef, who used the move again as it made Nuzleaf have trouble rolling around the battlefield. "Now, Bayleef, use Solar Beam," Ash commanded Bayleef, who charged up and fired the attack at Nuzleaf.
"Protect," Tyson commanded his Pokemon, who raised a shield to protect itself from Solar Beam. "Now Hyper beam," Tyson commanded his Pokemon, who charged up a Hyper beam.
"Solar beam now, Bayleef," Ash commanded her, also charged up. As both fired their attacks, they were sent back to the wall knocking each other out.
"Bayleef and Nuzleaf both cannot battle," the ref announced as the crowd cheered and was at the edge of their seats. This was getting very interesting as Ash and Tyson returned their Pokemon to their Pokeballs.
"This battle is getting very interesting, ladies and gentlemen. We all know their final Pokemon, but the question is, who is better?" The announcer said as Tyson smiled at this.
"Ivysaur, come on out," Ash sent out his last Pokemon as Tyson held out his Pokeballs.
"Sceptile comes on out," Tyson sent out. Ash was taken aback by this next Pokemon, which revealed that his Grovyle evolved Ash. "Well, Ash, you are about to see how strong the grass starter of the Hoenn region is," Tyson said to Ash as he was ready for a challenge against someone he had never battled.
"Bring it on, Tyson. I'm not going to hold back in this battle," Ash said to Tyson, who smiled at this. "Ivysaur, use Razor Leaf," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who fired his attack at Sceptile, who just stood there.
"Leaf Blade now," Tyson commanded her, who sliced through the Razor Leaf like it was nothing. "That was fast," Ash said as the crowd was amazed. "Sceptile is known to be fast, Ash, and you are seeing a small taste of why she is known for that, Aerial ace now," Tyson commanded her, who charged quickly.
"Ivysaur, use Petal Dance and then Vine Whip," Ash commanded him, who fired both attacks. Sceptile dodged the Petal dance but was caught by the Vine whip in the leg, sending her to the ground. Ash knew this wouldn't be easy to win, as Sceptile showed why she is known to be fast. But Ash needs to keep Ivysaur on his toes to stop its attack.
"Sceptile, use Dragons Breath," Tyson commanded her, who fired the attack right at Ivysaur.
"Use Take Down," Ash commanded Ivysaur, who dodged the attack and charged at Sceptile.
"Dragon claw," Tyson commanded her, who slashed at Ivysaur mid-attack Ash was taken off guard by this. "Now use Aerial Ace," Tyson commanded Sceptile, who slammed at Ivysaur, sending him to the ground Ivysaur was having trouble getting up; Ash was now worried about Ivysaur. Ash knows this is a losing fight now but would at least try to fight back.
"Solar beam now, Ivysaur," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who charged and fired said attack.
"Dragons Breath now," Tyson commanded his Sceptile, who fired that attack as it clashed with the Solar beam, only to win the clash and hit Ivysaur, paralyzing it.
"Ivysaur!" Ash yelled as Ivysaur struggled to keep going. Tyson waited until Ivysaur continued the fight. Only Ivysaur couldn't maintain standing up from that attack and fell. Ash and everyone were surprised by this as Ivysaur was down and out.
"Ivysaur is unable to battle Sceptile wins, and the winner of the grass-type tournament is Tyson from Mawville city," the ref announced as the crowd cheered as Ash ran to Ivysaur, checking on him to see if he was okay.
"I'm sorry, Ash, I couldn't keep going. That move was too much," Ivysaur said to Ash, who nodded and petted Ivysaur's head.
"Don't worry about it, Ivysaur. You battle great out there, everyone loses every so often, and you two did great," Ash said as Ivysaur smiled before Tyson walked over with Sceptile holding out her claw to Ivysaur, which he used a vine shook it. "Congratulations, Tyson, you earned that victory," Ash said, holding a hand for a handshake that Tyson accepted.
"Thanks, Ash, and you did well yourself, so don't be upset. You did great," Tyson said to Ash, who nodded before returning Ivysaur to his ball.
The Tournament was wrapping up as Tyson received a trophy and a leaf stone for his victory in the Tournament. Ash got a second-place medal, and the crowd cheered for both of them as the tournaments ended.
Ash and Tyson had their Pokemon healed, and they were outside the Pokemon Center and ready to head off their separate ways.
"Well, Ash, I guess it's time to head off. I hope we can meet again, maybe in a league," Tyson said to Ash, who nodded.
"Maybe at the league at one point? Unless you are participating in any other Tournaments here in Johto?" Ash asked Tyson, who shook his head.
"No, sadly, I was asked to participate in this Tournament before the league happens in Kanto, which I will be heading that way via the Magnet Train in Goldenrod city, so maybe in Hoenn if you are planning on visiting there?" Tyson said to Ash, who was thinking about it. "Just a heads up, Ash. I heard that many of the trainers here in Johto have been in Hoenn, so you might be able to battle against a few with them," Tyson said to Ash, who was taken aback by this information reveal.
Tyson took his leave as Ash and the others waved goodbye before turning the other way and heading to Ecruteak City and the site of the next gym in the Johto region. Ash looked down, thinking about what Tyson meant by that. Ash knew his other rival was here in Johto, but he would need to be ready for anything they threw at him.
With the Grass Type Tournament ending in defeat for Ash. Ash had much more to learn as a trainer and what to expect from the Hoenn trainers, especially since there are more trainers with Hoenn Pokemon here in Johto as the Journey continues.
Stay Tuned.
With that, the first of four tournaments in this story is done. I hope you all enjoyed all of this. Yes, Ash lost the Tournament, but that isn't the point of this story or what my version of Smart and Calm Ash is about. It's to prove that just because Ash is like that doesn't mean he will always win in specific matches. As for what Tyson meant by that, in the end, let's say I have more things planned later in the story. I have yet to show all I have planned for this story, ladies and gentlemen. It's the Burnt Tower Episode next, as I have a few things in this story that I have shown early, but I will admit that I need to figure out where I am going with it, but we have the entire trilogy for that. See you all next time.
