Sage made her way into the Mikaelson mansion the night of their ball. It hadn't taken much to get inside. She'd compelled one of the people in town to give her their invitation and then to forget they'd gotten on.

Sage had come as soon as she'd gotten wind that the Mikaelson's were in Mystic Falls. She needed them, and she hated that. She was hoping that she would get there and find Finn undaggered, but if that didn't happen, she was going to have to swallow her pride and ask his siblings for help. As much as she loathed most of them, they were the only ones that could help her, and she was running out of time.

Sage looked around as she integrated herself in the crowd. She saw some familiar faces, like Klaus and Rebekah. She also saw Elijah. He was going to be her best bet if Finn was still incapacitated. Elijah was probably the only one she could stand. He was indifferent to her, but the few times she'd met him, he was respectful. She was also sure that if he heard what she had to say, he would help. The issue was going to be getting him to believe her.

Soon, Sage eyed the Original she was most hoping to see. Finn was by the champagne. He wasn't alone. He was speaking with someone Sage was hoping not to see at the ball, Elena Gilbert. Not that Sage didn't want to see her, but not tonight, not there.

Sage lost herself in her thoughts because the next thing she knew, the Originals were at the stairs and Elijah was giving a welcoming speech. Once he was done, they were all asked to go into another room to dance.

Sage didn't move right away. She eyed Elena, who was by the stairs with Damon Salvator, another familiar face. She was immediately put off by the way Damon spoke to Elena, commanding and controlling. That wouldn't do at all.

Sage made her way over. "Is this really how you talk to a young lady?"

Damon turned and looked at the newcomer in surprise. This was the last place he expected to find Sage. "Sage. I wasn't aware you were in Mystic Falls."

"Just got here. I heard there was a fancy party," Sage said before smiling at Elena. "Hi."

Elena frowned a little as she looked at the woman. She seemed familiar to her, but Elena couldn't put her finger on where she could've seen her before. "Hi. Have we met before? You look familiar."

"I doubt it. She's a vampire. Elena, this is Sage," Damon said.

"Hi," Elena said as she held out her hand.

Sage smiled and took her hand in both of hers. "It's really nice to meet you, Elena. Perhaps we can get to know each other better soon."

"Oh, are you staying in Mystic Falls?" Elena asked as the vampire released her hand.

"I imagine I'll be here for quite a while," Sage said. Everything that mattered to her was in this town now. She had no intention of letting it go ever again.

"That should be interesting," Damon said before turning to Elena. "Sage taught me a lot about being a vampire."

Elena looked a bit nervous as she eyed. Damon had mellowed a little, but he'd done a lot of terrible things when he first got there. She wondered if he'd learned that from Sage.

"I taught you, but I get the feeling you didn't pay attention to all of those lessons," Sage said.

Damon smirked. "Maybe not."

Sage looked around and saw that everyone had left the room. "I think it's time we go dance."

Damon held his hand out to Elena. "Shall we?"

Sage took his hand instead. "We shall. I hope you don't mind, Elena."

Elena shook her head. "Not at all."

"I mind," Damon said.

"Too bad," Sage said before dragging him into the next room and onto the dance floor.

"What are you doing? I need to keep an eye on Elena," Damon said.

"Why? Are you her father? Because no man has the right to talk to a girl the way you did unless he is," Sage said.

"You don't know what you're talking about. She doesn't know what's good for her most of the time," Damon said.

"That's condescending, even for you," Sage said. She looked over his shoulder at Elena, who was standing awkwardly alone. She didn't like that she'd put her in that position, but she wasn't going to let her dance with Damon. Luckily, she soon noticed Elijah abandon his partner and go over to Elena.

"Elena, it seems your in need of a dance partner, may I?" Sage heard Elijah ask.

"Thanks, Elijah," Elena said before taking his hand.

Damon immediately went to let go of Sage's hands and go after Elena, but Sage held on tight.

"It's poor form to abandon your partner, don't you think?" Sage asked.

"I'm not letting Elena dance with an Original!" Damon snapped.

"She's fine. He's not going to do anything to her in a crowed room. Besides, Elijah is a perfect gentleman, and Elena seems to trust him," Sage said.

"Like I said, she doesn't know what's good for her," Damon said.

"I think it's you who doesn't know what's good for her. For instance, you are not good for her," Sage said.

"Excuse me?" Damon asked.

"Damon, I like you. You've always been fun and entertaining to say the least. But you and that girl? Not gonna happen," Sage said in a firm tone.

"Is that an order?"

"Yes," Sage said matter-of-factly.

Damon smirked. "Are you jealous, Sage?"

Sage laughed. "Don't flatter yourself, Damon. You were good, but you weren't that good. My tastes lie elsewhere," Sage said as she glanced across the room at Finn.

"Then what do you care who I'm with?" Damon asked.

"I don't care who you're with. Take your pick, but it's not going to be her," Sage said seriously. It wasn't her concern if Damon tried his controlling behavior with another girl. Elena was her concern. She wouldn't allow it.

"Why? Why do you care if I'm with Elena?" Damon asked.

"You shouldn't concern yourself with why I care. You should only concern yourself with the fact that I do. Stay away from her. It's the only time I will ask nicely. You won't like the consequences if I have to say it again," Sage warned him.

"Are you threatening her?" Damon asked dangerously.

"No. I'm threatening you," Sage said before releasing his hands and walking away. The waltz was over, and she'd made her point.

Sage was becoming agitated. At some point, she'd lost track of where both Finn and Elena were. She wasn't really worried about Finn. He'd probably gone to take a few minutes to himself. Big crowds weren't his thing. She was concerned about where Elena might be though. She didn't think Elena left, and Sage didn't trust everyone in this house not to do something nefarious, not at least until they knew who she really was.

Damon had gone missing from the party at some point too, but Sage didn't think Elena was with him. The last time she'd seen Damon, he was heading upstairs, and Elena wasn't with him.

Sage decided that she was going to have to approach one of the other Originals to get the information she needed. The only one she saw was Rebekah, who was conversing with a young man. She immediately went over to her. "Rebekah."

Rebekah turned and looked at the redhead with both surprise and annoyance. "Who the bloody hell let you in?"

"Where's your brother?" Sage asked. Rebekah probably didn't know where Elena was, but she might know where Finn was.

Rebekah rolled her eyes. "Are you so desperate that you're still chasing after Finn after all these centuries? He's moved on from you. You were just a passing fling.

"Who is this?" Matt asked from next to Rebekah.

"No one important, Matt. Just a stupid trollop that can't take a hint," Rebekah said while glaring at Sage.

"Rebekah, I don't have time for your crap. I need to speak to Finn, and Elena Gilbert. Do you know where either of them are?" Sage asked.

"What do you want with the stupid doppelganger?" Rebekah asked.

"Watch your tongue," Sage warned.

"Or what? You're no threat to me," Rebekah said with a smirk.

"Sage?" A new voice asked.

Sage turned to see Finn on the stairs looking gobsmacked. "Finn."

Finn descended the stairs at a quick pace and pulled her into his arms the moment he was in reach. "I can't believe you're here."

"I've missed you so much," Sage said before pulling away. As much as she wanted to stay there and let him hold her, they had other things to handle first.

"How did you find me? How did you know I was awake?" Finn asked.

"I didn't. I was prepared to ask your siblings for help if need be," Sage said.

"You must be really desperate to think we'd help you with anything," Rebekah said.

"Help with what? What's wrong?" Finn asked concerned.

"There's so much we need to talk about, but first, I need to find Elena Gilbert. I lost track of her," Sage said.

Finn frowned a little. "Wait, why were you keeping track of her?"

"Because I don't trust her in this house with your insane family. Do you know where she is?" Sage asked.

"Slow down. Why are you worried about this girl in the first place?" Finn asked.

Sage sighed. She supposed she might as well just tell him now. He deserved to know. It was a conversation she would've liked to have with him alone, but if it would speed the process of finding Elena up, so be it. "She's our daughter."

"What?" Finn asked in utter shock.

"What?" Rebekah echoed in the same tone of voice.

"What the hell?" Matt asked.

"Sage, that's impossible," Finn said.

"Trust me, I know. I went through that same disbelief nine hundred years ago when I realized I was pregnant," Sage said.

"You're lying," Rebekah immediately said. This was physically impossible. Vampires couldn't conceive. She didn't know what the stupid woman was hoping to accomplish by telling such a blatant lie.

Sage ignored her and focused on Finn. "I'm so sorry. I know you want an explanation. You'll get it, but can you help me find Elena first."

A look of realization hit Finn's face, followed by a look of horror, as he remembered exactly what Elena Gilbert, his daughter, was doing right now.

"Finn, what is it?" Sage asked when she saw the horrified look on his face.

Instead of answering, Finn made a dash for the stairs. Sage and Rebekah were hot on his trail.
