Greetings, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to A Promise Kept Ash's Johto Journey. Before we begin, I will say I'm sorry for the chapter names. I won't lie; I'm not good at naming chapters unrelated to Anime. So be patient when we get to the chapters tied to Anime. I will get it or an update. Let's get this Chapter started.
Chapter 47: Pride of a Charizard
"Human Speech"
"Pokemon Speech"
The next day of the Tournament came as the last match was Ash vs. Clair.
Ash and Clair walked to the battlefield and arrived at the trainer's box. Ash knew that this was a one-on-one battle. "Now, a reminder that this isn't a gym battle, you two, so act as if you are fighting as regular trainers," the ref said to Ash and Clair, who nodded. "Now let out your only Pokemon in this battle," the ref announced.
"Charizard comes on out," Clair and Ash sent out their Pokemon as they stood before their retrospective trainers. Clair's Charizard was easier to tell because she had a bow on her horn but on the left side, unlike her sister.
"Well, Blaze, it's time to see who is the better Charizard between us," Ash's Charizard said to her, as Blaze smirked at Charizard acting like this.
"You may also be trained under my father, but I'm not letting you win this battle," Blaze said as Charizard smirked.
"Charizard vs. Charizard, let this battle begin," The ref announced as the two fire-starters took flight.
"Charizard use, Wing Attack," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who charged in at Blaze.
"Dragons Breath," Clair commanded her Pokemon, who fired the Dragons Breath at Ash's Charizard, who dodged it and slammed right into Blaze. "Outrage," Clair commanded Blaze, who slammed her claws at Charizard hard, sending him to the ground.
"Ash, the real battle now begins if you are as good as they say you are; show it to me here," Clair said to Ash, who sighed and remained calm.
"You want a battle, Clair? Let's do this," Ash said to Clair. Charizard gets up, growling at Blaze. "Flamethrower," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who fired right at Blaze, hitting her, given she was confused by the Outrage attack.
"Dragon Claw," Clair commanded her Pokemon, who swept down and tried to slash at Charizard.
"Woah," Ash said as he was surprised to hear a move like this as he was learning a lot about the moves he hadn't heard of. "Mega Punch now," Ash commanded his Charizard, who slammed his fist into Blaze as her claw slashed at Charizard. As both of them were sent back to their trainers.
"Steel Wing," Clair commanded her Pokemon, who charged at Charizard.
"Block it," Ash commanded his Charizard as he grabbed her wings.
"Aerial Ace," Clair commanded her Pokemon, who slammed into Charizard hard.
"Charizard," Ash said as Charizard got up from that attack.
"Cheep shot Blaze," Charizard said to her, who puffed her chest.
"And you wonder why I'm the one who likes to get her to claw dirty amongst me and my sister, cousin," Blaze said.
"Woah, you weren't joking, Charizard," Ash said to him, who nodded as Clair noticed that Ash was more in touch with his Charizard than most trainers.
"Use Flamethrower," Clair commanded her Pokemon, who fired her attack right at Charizard.
"Dodge it now," Ash commanded him, who jumped out of the way as the flames hit the battlefield. Causing it to singe from it.
"Woah, ladies and gentlemen, that is some raw power from Clair's Charizard. It seems like it's more than winning that matters but their pride," the announcer said. Ash was impressed by this as she was more substantial than she seemed. Ash noticed that Blaze was struggling to keep up when firing that Flamethrower.
"Charizard use Wing attack," Ash commanded him, who charged right at Blaze.
"You'll need to do better than that to beat me, Ash. Use Outrage," Clair said and commanded her Pokemon, who was ready to use that attack again.
"Grab it now," Ash commanded Charizard, who grabbed Blaze's claw. Clair and Blaze were surprised by this. "Seismic toss Charizard," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who used said move.
"Not going to happen. Use Overheat," Clair commanded her Pokemon, which made Charizard grunt in pain as he let Blaze go. Ash wasn't expecting this to happen. "You're a good trainer, Ash, that much I give you. Not many trainers I've faced forced me to counter with that, but this is the end. Use Dragon Claw," Clair commanded her Pokemon.
"Mega Punch now," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who slammed his claw into Blaze's Claw. "Use Dragons Breath now," Ash commanded his Charizard, who fired the attack at close range at Blaze, leaving her paralyzed to the ground.
"This is it, ladies and gentlemen. From its looks, the battle will be over really soon, but who will blink, and who will fall?" the announcer said.
"Overheat now," Clair commanded her Pokemon, who burned up and fired her attack at Charizard.
"Flamethrower now," Ash commanded Charizard as the two moves clashed.
"Dragon Claw," Clair commanded her Pokemon, who charged at Ash's Charizard with her claws glowing.
"Mega Punch," Ash commanded his Pokemon as the two slammed their claws right at each other, sending them on their backs. They struggled to get up from that attack, still tired and panting as both got up and roared before Blaze fell to the ground, knocked out. Ash and Clair were surprised by this, as was Charizard.
"Clair's Charizard is unable to battle. Ash's Charizard wins, and moving on to the top 4 is Ash," the ref announced as it was revealed that Ash was up against Silver in the top 4 next. Ash's Charizard roared at his victory against Blazed, letting out a flame.
"Show off, Charizard," Ash said to him, who puffed his chest. Ash chuckled as Clair went to her Charizard, who smiled at seeing Charizard as his prideful self before Clair returned her and headed off. Charizard sighed. Both Ash and Clair got their Pokemon healed as Ash explained what he knew about his Charizard to Clair.
"So, he's a childhood friend/cousin of my Charizard? Thought as much I thought he looked familiar, my cousin's Charizard's and Dragonite's son," Clair said.
"You mean Lance? I found that out through Charizard during the Journey. I've only seen one of his siblings," Ash said to Clair, who sighed.
"I have one of his siblings on my team, but he seems more into battling than being with his family?" Clair said as Ash nodded. As they heard their Pokemon healed, the two were given their Pokeballs. Clair takes her to leave.
"Hey Clair, the next time we meet would probably be in a gym battle. I hope to have a good one, and I will talk to Charizard about his family problems," Ash said.
"Oh, I will be in the Whirl Islands for the Whirl Cup so that you will be seeing me again, Ash. But I want to change my gym rules when you do to test you to see how much you've grown since then," Clair explained to Ash, who was curious. "Until then, see you in the Whirl Islands and get stronger with your Pokemon," Clair said as she took her leave. Ash sighed at this and let Charizard out.
"So, what is going on with your family, Charizard? Clair said that she has one of your siblings as well. Want to talk?" Ash questioned Charizard, who crossed his claws.
"You want to know why I have issues with most siblings, Ash? Charizard isn't the type to get along with their relatives usually. Hence, Blaze chose to be a gym leader's Pokemon than run the Charizific Valley and fight with her sister for leadership, it's not like that for all members of her side of the hierarchy family-wise, and why my family has no intention to reclaim it back per our agreement," Charizard said.
"And what about your Dragonite siblings?" Ash asked as Charizard sighed, knowing that Ash had to ask that and he had mentioned it to his teammates numerous times.
"My family contains five siblings, including myself, three females and two males," Charizard explains. "I'm the second youngest, along with my twin sister, who happens to be a Dratini the last time I saw her, and my big sister, who happens to be a Dragonite. I get along well, and she belongs to Clair, who mentioned her earlier and is her main ace," Charizard said to which Ash nodded.
"Damian's Dragonite is your brother? I remember Kang mentioned that" Ash said to Charizard, who nodded.
"He's the second oldest and Clair's Draonite's twin. He and I have a mixed relationship. Ash, he isn't the type to hate me, only following orders from Damien. Since I wasn't his starter, now he's his main ace. As for my middle sister, I haven't seen her in years, but I do that. She is with a trainer as we speak, and if I see her, I'll let you know, Ash," Charizard said to Ash.
"I understand, Charizard, but don't you think about making up with them?" Ash questioned Charizard, who nodded.
"I did with two sisters, but I might one day with the rest of them. Until then, please, Ash, let it go. This was more from my father than my mother. If you want more, we must run into them alone, not through me. That is all I will say," Charizard said to Ash, refusing to speak anymore on the question.
"Charizard, you've been very quiet about all this. Is the Charizard hierarchy famous for holding quiet?" Ash asked Charizard, who sighed.
"It's not the hierarchy; Ash is why I am quiet; it's cause most humans and other Pokemon shouldn't know about my evolutionary line's ties. That was something that I was asked by Charla's father not to talk about it cause who knows what type of person or Pokemon could hear it, and I don't hate mine or uncle's side of the family there, Ash if that is what you are asking," Charizard explains to Ash.
"Fine, Charizard, I won't, but you know that we will be seeing them during our Journey, so keep that in mind," Ash said, who uncrossed his claws.
"I know that, Ash. If I run into family members, you have my word that I will explain and point them out. But until then, I won't be in the next battle. Ash, that battle against Blaze took it out of me. If you take on that boy with the Pokemon who beaten a fellow Charizard, I want in," Charizard explained. Ash sighed and nodded.
The Fire-type Tournament is nearly coming to a close as Ash is now up against one of his friends growing up. As the Tournament continues.
Stay tuned.
Done and done. This was a fun but challenging Chapter, mainly regarding research on moves Charizard can learn for both Johto and Hoenn moveset. But this was a fair usage of moves. As for Charizard, we will see more of his siblings, his so-called twin sister, much later in the story. Well, not much later, as we will see her in the Whirl Islands. In the sequel, the other ties to a traveling companion, Ash, who will be traveling in Hoenn. It's Ash vs. Silver next week, as we are returning to Unova this week. See you next time.
