Greetings, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to A Promise Kept Ash's Johto Journey. We are getting close to the Tournament's final and getting used to this week of Tournaments. Once this Tournament is over, there will be another but shorter. That said, let's get this chapter going, shall we?
Chapter 48: Ash vs. Silver Strengths and Weaknesses
"Human Speech"
"Pokemon Speech"
It was the day of the next round of the Fire Tournament Harrison made it to the finals, and it was now down to Ash and Silver, who were now ready to battle. Both trainers walked out to the battlefield.
"Now for the last match of the top four," the announcer said. "First is a trainer who has won the Tournament matches with luck and well-timed attacks from Pallet Town. Give it up for Ash Ketchem," the crowd cheered. "Now for the other trainer. He is a man of mystery who has shown why he's all power, not just skill. From Viridian City, give it up for Silver."
Ash looked at his friend. Not since Paul has Ash had the feeling that Ash will have some trouble with a trainer. Silver puts up one finger, indicating this will be a one-on-one battle. Ash nodded in response. Ash and Silver pulled out their Pokeball.
"Typhlosion, come on out," Silver sent out his Pokemon.
"Houndoom, come on out," Ash sent out his Pokemon.
"Houndoom vs. Typhlosion. This battle will decide who will move on to the next round. Let the battle begin," the ref announced.
"Well, Ash? Let's see how well you can entertain me in today's match and far you have come as a trainer," Silver said to Ash. Ash nodded.
"I'll do more than that, Silver, but don't think I will make it this easy," Ash said.
"Typhlosion, use Earthquake," Silver commanded his Pokemon, who stomped his foot on the ground, shaking it.
"Jump and then use Flamethrower," Ash commanded him, who jumped before the Earthquake attack could do some damage to Houndoom. Houndoom used Flamethrower right at Typhlosion.
"Use Flamethrower as well, Typhlosion, and follow it with Fire Blast," Silver commanded his Pokemon, who combined the attack and sent it back at Houndoom, barely taking too much damage. "Now Crush Claw," Silver commanded his Pokemon, who slashed his claw right into Ash's Houndoom Ash was surprised by this as Silver smirked.
"Ugh, another move from Hoenn. When did Damien get this Typhlosion? Or is this Silver's doing?" Ash thought as Houndoom stood up, growling at Typhlosion. "Sludge Bomb now, Houndoom," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who fired that attack right at Typhlosion, hitting him. "Now use Reversal Houndoom," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who slammed into Typhlosion.
"Thunder Punch Typhlosion," Silver commanded his Pokemon, who slammed its fist into Houndoom hard, sending him to the ground. "You're doing well, Ash, much better than most of the trainers I've faced so far, but if you want to beat me, you'll need to do better than that to beat me," Silver said to Ash. "Use Blast Burn," Silver commanded his Pokemon Ash was surprised by this as Typhlosion heated up and slammed his foot right into the ground, causing flames toward Houndoom.
"Dodge it now, Houndoom," Ash commanded Houndoom, jumping around the attacks, barely getting hit, only for one of the guizers of flames to hit Houndoom square on. "Houndoom," Ash said Houndoom was struggling to get up.
"Houndoom is strong, Ash, but you must know that he has his strengths and weaknesses. Not many Pokemon can take an attack as strong as a Hyper Beam like that," Silver said to Ash. Houndoom gets up, growling refusing to let this get to him.
"Houndoom," Ash said, worried about him. Ash noticed that Typhlosion was exhausted from using just one attack. "Wait, a minute. If it's just as strong, it must have the same problem that Hyper Beam has. We can use this to our advantage," Ash thought as he saw that Houndoom noticed this and nodded. "Alright, use Reversal," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who charged in the right at Typhlosion with his horn glowing.
"Use Earthquake," Silver commanded his Pokemon, who stomped his foot on the ground as Houndoom jumped at the last second and hit Typhlosion.
"Judging by the power of the Reversal folks, Houndoom is almost in his last legs in this battle," the announcer said. "Does Houndoom have enough in him to handle another powerful attack from Typhlosion?"
"Well, Ash, you amuse me today, but as the announcer said, this is the end of this battle for Houndoom there. I'd suggest you throw in the towel before I humiliate you further," Silver said as Houndoom shook his head. "As stubborn as Ash that I will give you Houndoom? You are strong. I will give you that much, and I can see why you won these battles. But this is the end-use Blast Burn," Silver said as Typhlosion slammed his foot into the floor. The same shockwave of fire was sent right at Houndoom.
"Reversal get out of there," Ash commanded his Pokemon, charging in at Typhlosion as his other horn glowed. Silver noticed and knew what was coming as one of the guizers shot up at Houndoom, hitting him and causing an explosion. The smoke cleared and showed that Houndoom was in the air. Silver was surprised by this.
"Solar Beam Fire Houndoom," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who fired said Solar Beam right at Typhlosion, who couldn't attack using Blast Burn and hitting Typhlosion, causing another explosion only to show that Typhlosion wasn't down or out.
"Now Thunder Punch Typhlosion," Silver commanded his Pokemon, who charged in at Houndoom.
"Reversal now, Houndoom," Ash commanded Houndoom, knowing that this was the last move of the match. Both Pokemon were sent back to their trainers as the two moves landed. Houndoom and Typhlosion were panting heavily. Ash and Silver stared at each other as both knew one was at their limit. One of them did fall. It was Typhlosion.
"Typhlosion is unable to battle Houndoom. Wins moving on to the finals is Ash Ketchem," The ref announced. In time for Houndoom to fall from his injuries, as Ash ran over and picked him up, Silver returned his Pokemon, who sighed and looked at Ash.
"Not bad, Ash. You are strong enough to help me out when it comes to Damien. You are probably the only opponent other than Gary that was worthy of my time here in the Tournament," Silver said before taking off.
Ash went to the Pokemon center to heal Houndoom, as Silver had just healed his Typhlosion. "Well, Ash, I'll be off. I'm off to the Whirl Islands, rumor has it there's been some activity over there, one from Damien and one from Team Rocket, and as a member of the police, I should look into it," Silver said.
"Well, we will be heading that way. Silver, maybe we can help if needed," Ash suggested. Silver nodded but sighed as he knew that Ash would want to help in any way possible, given that Ash has a history with Team Rocket and Damien.
"I usually operate alone. But if we run into each other there, I will make an exception," Silver said as Ash nodded in agreement.
"Speaking of Damien, I had a run-in with his Pokemon at the preservation that the Pokemon rangers were keeping them at. Maybe we can get some trainers to help them, well, those who want to be with trainers and maybe some with Professor Oak," Ash suggested to Silver.
"You know that is a good idea, Ash. It would help both them and Trainers who might need the help," Silver said. "I'll contact Lance and the rangers to see if they are willing to do that, but I'm not making any promises. That is all I can say," Silver said as Ash nodded.
"Any help will work," Ash said.
"By the way, Ash. Before I went, my mother had been doing well since we last saw each other, and I found my father. There's a reason I joined the Pokemon G-men. That is all I will say to you. I thought you would know about that," Silver said before leaving. Ash sighed and remembered that Silver's family struggled growing up when Silver and he were kids, and his father was never around during that time either.
"Man, things must've gotten worse if that is the case. I know he didn't know who his father was growing up, but I have a feeling that whatever it is. It can't be good?" Ash thought as he saw Silver already gone. "Whatever the case is, I won't press on further only if things get worse or we run into him," Ash thought.
The next day came as it was the finals of the Fire-type Tournament. Ash and Harrisson were waiting for the call to go to the battlefield.
"Well, Ash, this is the last tournament match, and don't think I won't make this battle easy," Harrison said to Ash, who nodded.
"Same to you. I heard that you are pretty tough from what Drew told me, and I won't make things easy either," Ash said as Harrison nodded.
"Will both trainers come out to the battlefield," The announcer said to the trainer's locker room.
"Well, it's time. Best of luck to you, Ash," Harrison said before taking his leave. Ash nodded as he took his leave to the opposite side of the stadium.
"Now, for the final tournament match, these two trainers have shown why they have made it this far," the announcer said. Both Ash and Harrison made their way out to the battlefield. "First is a trainer who didn't need an introduction from Pallet Town. Give it up for Ash Ketchem," the announcer said as the crowd cheered. "Now for the other trainer? He's the type of trainer who has shown that he can handle more than one type of advantage and outsmart his opponents. From Littleroot Town, give it up for Harrison," the crowd cheered even louder.
Harrison pulled out two fingers, indicating a two vs. two battle. Ash and Harrison pulled out their Pokeballs. "Houndoom, come on out," Harrison sent out his Pokemon.
"Quilava, come on out," Ash sent out his Pokemon. Both Pokemon were on the battlefield.
"Quilava vs. Houndoom, let the first battle of the finals begin," the ref announced.
"Quilava use Flame Wheel," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who rolled right in at Houndoom.
"Flamethrower Houndoom," Harrison commanded his Pokemon, who fired the attack at the Flame Wheel.
The finals are underway as Ash is now against Harrison, a rival of Drew and Tyson. Who will win the Fire-type Tournament? As the Fire-type Tournament finishes.
Stay tuned.
Done and done. Man, was this fun to write. I may have made a stretch with Silver, but he will be a part of the story and the Silver conference (no pun intended). For those who read both Unova and Johto, I'm sorry for the lack of chapters last week for Unova. We are coming close to where that story is chapters-wise. Might I be posting a chapter for both in one week? Let me know if this is a good idea or if you should keep it as is. For those who celebrated it, happy Mother's Day, as this comes out the day after it. For those who don't, I won't pry. It's the finals of the Fire-type Tournament next. See you next time.
