Greetings, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to A Promise Kept Ash's Johto Journey. Let's get this chapter going, shall we?

Chapter 60: Ash vs. Chuck Rematch

"Human Speech"

"Pokemon Speech"

It's the night before the next round of the P1 Grand Prix as Ash had Primape re-introduced to the team, who were surprised to see how different she was while most welcoming her with open arms. Charizard, on the other hand, has grasped one thing.

"Wait a minute. You're a girl? The man who put me through the test and gave me issues as a Charmander is a" Pidgeot smacked Charizard before he could finish that sentence.

"You're forgetting that I have beaten you a few times during our Journey, Charizard," Pidgeot said, and Charizard held his face to that smack. Primape giggled but also let it go.

"Sorry bout that Primape was just surprised by this, that's all," Charizard apologized.

"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that, Charizard, but I accept your apology. I'm willing to make friends as long as I am not bothered with my eating or have that comment shown again, deal?" Primape asked.

Everyone on the team nodded at this, as that was a fair deal. Primape has not been interested in picking fights with anyone on the team. And seem's like Primape has matured since she was last seen. On the other hand, Pidgeot was still unhappy with Charizard for what he said to Primape for the time being. Ash had a sweatdrop from all of this.

"Come on, guys, I'm sure that we all can get along regardless of gender here, and Primape here is taking part in the P1 Grand Prix to reclaim her title as the winner, and we'll be doing that together," Ash said to the group mainly towards Charizard and Pidgeot. "Let's root for her as a team. Remember, she's also family to the team," Ash said as the group nodded and smiled at this.

Primape smiled, seeing how much Ash had changed and grown since the last time she was on the team. Primape knew she'd chosen the right trainer to work with her to win this Tournament more than ever. The next day came as it was the next round of the P1 Grand Prix. Ash and Chuck head out to the battlefield and are ready to face each other.

"Now for the first match of the second round of the P1 Grand Prix, and it's a match like last time, Primape vs. Machamp, but will Primape's former trainer win what her teacher couldn't?" the announcer said. Usually, Ash would be nervous, but he wouldn't let this get to him.

"Primape, come on out," Ash sent out his Primape, who was ready to fight.

"Machamp, come on out," Chuck sent out his leading ace. The two Pokemon stared each other down as they were ready to throw down and win this match.

"Primape vs. Machamp, the winner of this match, will make it to the top eight of the Tournament. So let the battle begin," the announcer said as the bell rang, starting the match.

"We can't just go in on a head-on approach, especially with those four arms of Machamp," Ash thought as Chuck noticed and decided he might as well start things. "Machamp, use Dynamic Punch," Chuck commanded his Pokemon, who charged in at Primape.

"Dodge and use Mega Kick just as he gets close," Ash commanded her, who slid under the two arms and slammed her leg right into Machamp, who grabbed it. "Uh-oh," Ash said.

"Vital Thow now," Chuck commanded his Pokemon, who slammed Primape into the arena's floor.

"Counter now," Ash commanded, slamming herself right into Machamp just as she got up from that attack. It was going to take more than that to take her out. "Now, Cross Chop before he could regain himself Primape," Ash commanded her, who did as told and slammed her arms right into Machamp, who was hit but grabbed her right after her attack landed.

"Cross Chop now, Machamp," Chuck commanded his Pokemon, who slammed his arms into Primape, sending her to the belt in the ring.

"Hyper beam now," Chuck commanded him, who fired right into Primape.

"Counter now, and then use Cross chop," Ash commanded her, who used the two moves to go right into Machamp.

"Stop her with Vital Throw," Chuck commanded his Pokemon as the two Pokemon were in an arms clash, not backing down.

"Primape use Thrash and Thunder Punch," Ash commanded her.

"Cross Chop now, Machamp. Focus your energy, and don't hold back," Chuck commanded his Pokemon as the two Pokemon were going blow for blow. Primape was feeling the side effects of the Thrash attack, as Chuck was hoping for that to happen.

"Primape, don't give in. You've worked this hard to give into that stupid side effect that could cost you the match," Ash yelled out to Primape, who snapped out of it before it could take over. Chuck was surprised, as was the crowd.

"Amazing, with just like that, the side effects of the Thrash Attack have subsided. That is what caused Primape to lose the last Tournament cause it got out of control to the point that Chuck clenched the win," the announcer said. "This might change things in terms of the battle."

"Seismic Toss now," Ash commanded his Pokemon, who charged in at Machamp from above, grabbed Machamp, and tossed him to the mat. "End this with Cross Chop," Ash commanded her, who used the attack on him.

"Vital Throw Now," Chuck commanded his Pokemon as the Primape got the upper hand because of her size and landed a blow on Machamp ending the match. Ash and Chuck were surprised by this.

"Machamp is unable to battle Primape. Wins. Moving on to the top eight is Ash and Primape," the announcer said as Primape was panting heavily from all that Machamp pushed her way past her limit as passed out as Ash ran over to her.

'

Ash got Primape to the Pokemon center after returning her to her Pokeball. Luckily the next day was a day off, so Primape could recover, but Primape still took a heavy beating.

"Sorry, Primape, I wasn't expecting that match to go on that badly, but glad you are Ok," Ash said to Primape, who was bandaged up.

"It's fine. Ash will take more than that to take me down," Primape said as Ash shook his head.

"As stubborn as Charizard is, there Primape. Thankfully tomorrow is a day of rest. You earned it," Ash said to Primape, who nodded.

The two of them were watching the rest of the Tournament, and as expected, Brawly, Norman, and Gretta all made it through to the next round, and Ash could see that no matter who was going to face next, Primape needed to be 100 percent to win.

"Now tomorrow is a day off for the remaining contestants, and once that is over, the next matches are the following," the announcer said as the scoreboard lit up and showed that Ash would be up against Gretta in the next match and a strong Heracross that is for sure.

"So, Gretta is up next, huh? You've got a big competition going on for you, Ash," Ash and Primape turned to see Chuck standing behind them. Ash nodded.

"I should warn you that calling her as strong as the Elite Four isn't a Euthimism. She may idolize Brawly and me, but Bruno himself trained her, and the members of the group she represents are just as strong," Chuck said. This took aback Ash and Primape.

"The remaining trainers you are up against are much tougher than the gym leaders you've faced so far, Ash, here in Johto," Chuck said to Ash. "Before you enjoy your day off tomorrow, I should warn you. Before Primape took part in the Tournament, Gretta placed second, only losing to Brawly. She didn't participate in the last one, be on guard," Chuck said before leaving.

"A trainer trained by the member of the Elite Four himself; how can we hold up against that," Ash said as Primape nudged Ash. 'Hey, don't be like that, Ash and the outcome might be different. Have some faith in me,' Primape said to Ash, who was surprised but nodded.

The day of the next round came, and Ash and Gretta were about to start. Ash was ready for anything that was going to be thrown at him. He went to the stadium as well as Gretta. Ash looked at Gretta and was determined to win this battle.

"Primape, come on out," Ash sent out his Pokemon, who was ready to fight.

"Heracross, come on out," Gretta also sent out her Pokemon. The bell rings for the match to start. "Heracorss Mega Horn now," Gretta commanded her Pokemon.

"Cross Chop now, Primape," Ash commanded his Pokemon as the two Pokemon charged at each other.

With the P1 Grand Prix now in the top eight, Ash is determined to fight to the best of his abilities. His opponent, Gretta, will face a challenging obstacle for him. Can he pull the win and make it through? As the P1 Grand Prix continues.

Stay Tuned.

Done and done. Man, this chapter was tough to write because I was trying to change Primape's moves. Maybe next chapter? Did I sneak a Pokepark quote in the beginning? Someone mentioned a situation like that, and I ran with it. I didn't mean to make it a problem in this story if those didn't play it. I haven't played it, but I knew that quote from Let's Plays. It's Ash against Gretta's next chapter. See you next time.
