At a lane close by Traverse, a blue ship was going in various directions, as if the driver had never had experience with flying a gummi ship and is trying to learn by trial and error. A hazardous decision when one is in the confines of outer space. Leon was holding onto his seat for dear life and saw the ship heading straight towards an asteroid. "Watch out!"
Swoop!
Terra was just barely able to have the ship dodge that as Leon was at the end of his patience. "Can't you drive in one direction!" The grown up let go of the controllers, turned to the boy with his own patience worn thin and gestured towards the controllers. "If you know how to fly this, go right on ahead!"
Leon cringed. "I don't, the most I know is how to steer a ride pokemon!" The grown up nodded with ill news. "and I haven't had a chance to fly one of these either. We were at the end of that War when my friends got me out of a dark hold I've been trapped in." Leon put fingers under his chin and asked with confusion. "Like, right at the final battle or something? You're telling me you didn't try flying after it was all over?"
Terra shook his head. "It doesn't work that way, once the worlds are brought back into balance, the way to them closes up. The only routes that didn't were what the train could connect to and that door to the world I call home."
Zip!
Out of Leon's pocket came the Rotom Phone, that had a series of complaints to give. Leon read the text out loud. "Ai, ai, ai. If the two of you can stop fighting, we can get to rescuing some pokemon." He was offended and wanted to make a come back when the phone flew to a socket and gave off a spark, the front of the ship grew Rotom eyes and the vessel begun to sail in one direction. A high pitch, crackle of a voice spoke from all around. "This is like ridding a bike, hang on while I get to the thing we got to find."
To the Rotom's credit, the flight was a lot smoother, if a little aimless, due to not knowing precisely what was suppose to be found, save for a shining keyhole gate that was obvious. Leon put his hand to his chest and took a deep breath, calming himself down from his frustration. "As the old saying goes, when in doubt, ask the Pokemon. They'd find a way." Terra felt a nerve was hit. "Do you have them do everything for you?"
Leon closed his eyes, finding that question to be inevitable. "No, but it's pretty clear they're the brawn. It would have been so easy if I can shoot lighting, breath fire or make things move with my mind." He stood up to have a closer look at the gate way. "Me and my sister get picked on by the older kids, just because our parents were a long running Champion and the current regions Professor. They say we've been spoiled rotten."
Terra had a hard book to drop. "If you don't earn the respect, then they'll have every right to say that." Leon turned fast and raised his arms in a shocking agreement. "And being a top coordinator means nothing out here, when there wasn't a need for trainers. Yet, here I am, getting on the field and stuck having to tell others what to do while staying as far away as possible!" He wished deeply, that there was more he could do and changed the subject, explaining how a Rotom is able to inhabit a ship. "A clever inventor from a region called Kalos, discovered a way to enhance devices, with the aid of Rotom. Because they naturally can inhabit an electronic and take in their attributes. It started with a Pokedex and it moved over to a phone, which can get applied to a bike in certain regions. It wouldn't be a stretch for a Rotom to take this ship for a ride if it has a motor somewhere."
The Rotom passed the gateway and was in a space cloud of yellow light. Flying, bat like heartless flew out of hiding to fire and the Rotom let loose thunder bolts to vaporize them away. The ghost type laughed away and flew into danger while navigating around the sunlit storm. Terra took a deep breath and asked. "So, if Rotom took over an oven, he'd shoot fire?"
Leon nodded. "Yep. And he exchanges his ghost type for fire. The idea is shared among objects, like a fan, a lawn mower, a fridge and a washing machine. Most of the moves Rotom has with those are incredibly powerful as well. I'd think if we'd find a wild Rotom out here, it would be a major help in coverage and versatility."
Terra felt there was at last, a common language they could speak about. "Some of the best among us, got that far because he can adapt. Me, Ven and Aqua are more specialized in comparison. So there are places we fall behind on."
Leon notice the Rotom breaking through the yellow storm and enter what looked to be a sky above the clouds, a heartless that resembles a grappling hook spun in for a battle that the Rotom was eager to square off against, avoiding a barrage of razor shots and countering with thunder bolt. The boy wished to keep things at a high note. "Most who are good at adapting, tend to be good at just that. Handling any situation they get themselves in, but they are probably not the best at one particular thing. For example, Teddiursa. Once she evolves into an Ursaring, she can hit incredibly hard with facade and either of her abilities. Guts, which takes advantage of a status aliment for more power or Quick Feet, which turns an aliment into speed." Terra guessed. "And facade is important, because?"
Leon watched Rotom take care of some strange satellites and make for firing shadow balls upon the foe. "It's a move of the same type as Teddiursa. It hits harder and I mean harder, if the user has an aliment. Apply that to guts and..." He rolled his eyes in a certain result and Terra imagined a match ending right there. "Ouch." Leon advised. "right now, Teddiursa has a more... handy ability in pick up. She can find a handy item somewhere if given the chance. If given time though, pick up will become guts." He thought about it and brought out box connected to a t.m drive. "Since Rotom seems to be handling our flight, do you mind if we do something about fury swipes in the mean time? Even without the boost, Facade is a lot more of a consistent move." Terra watched the heartless disappear in a lightning storm and didn't mind putting the bears ball in. "You and your sister also talked about options for Charcadet, what about it?"
Leon wondered how they're going to get the required material, yet gave an honest answer. "His options really come out once he evolves. You just got to find the armor. Malicious armor or the Auspicious armor. One brings him towards becoming a versatile physical, short range attacker, the other brings him towards becoming a versatile, long range special attacker. Since you have a forge, that means you can make either set."
Terra flinched at one of the names. "My master would roll in his grave if we make anything with the word, malicious in there." Leon figured one of the two wouldn't be looked at fondly. "It gives Charcadet a ghost type to go with the fire. While the other armor gives him powers of the mind. Even if you didn't say no on the instant, it's never a good idea to fill your team with physical attackers or special attackers. Keep the options wide and they can compensate for where you lack."
Rotom found a Keyhole to exit out of danger zone while the boy imagined. "Besides, I look at that Cadet and I don't see him and I don't see him fitting well with the cursed spirits of regret." He shrugged. "But I'm not his trainer." Terra took a deep breath. "That would be me."
The two found themselves in space once more, finding a planet that looked to be a vast Savannah wilderness, leading to a wasteland. Leon gasped dramatically as Terra readied for arrival. "We finally made it. You figured out what we're about to deal with?"
The boy nodded. "More than enough, back at home we have some issues with some invasive species of pokemon that have found their way into the ecosystem. From the Ratattas, to the Yungoos that were sent to deal with them. Only to force the rats into the ways of the nocturnal and bring about two pokemon that would drive others out of the islands if not controlled. Then you know of the Ultra Beasts." He aimed at the world. "It's fate is going to depend on us getting those pokemon out of there. Because the natives really don't need competition that will drive them out."
The ship got close enough to stop and the boy asked. "Rotom, if you could?" The Rotom buzzed fast. "Bzzt! Hold it there mister, I've gotten word that this world's a bit special. You got to blend in."
Terra huhed. "Really?" He took a deep breath and was getting excited. "Well, this a first time." Leon was picking out a heal ball, a beast ball and contemplated bringing a poke ball along. "If it means, blend in, then it stands to reason that Kilokilo and Pilikia would cause more trouble if they're out in a Savannah like this. K'ui might have issues due to being an ice type, but I think some ice magic every once in a while would help him out."
Terra advised. "I've heard that Crabominable is insanely strong, despite the speed. Bring him along!" He remembered. "And I've heard a lot about what Pō has done for Riku and the others."
Leon had a guess. "That guy wouldn't have spoken highly of Pō if there wasn't a good reason?" Terra shook his head. "None of us would have, but you and that bird have defied the odds. Just be careful with how you use him." The boy promised. "Don't worry, if we have some issues down there with the locals, he would solve it just by being there." He and Terra gave the signal to the gummi ship and enveloped in light.
Sometime during the previous night.
A black badger with white stripes dashed across a short grass brush, running away from a maniacal giggle. The badger found a burrow to wiggle in and went deep enough to avoid the snapping of jaws and digging. The badger cursed some luck. "Bloody hell, why there's a lot of them."
A voice behind, taunted. "Come out, come out, aren't you wanting to meat the neighbors around here?" The badger snarled his teeth and went for a pouch he had. "I'm this close to making you all feel sorry." He opened it and pulled out a burning orb. "I just need to knock one of ya's out and then I'll teach ya not to cross us."
He put the orb necklace on himself and felt a burn, he dropped his tongue out and gave a shriek. Astonishing the predator outside the burrow and charging out, giving a gray fur, spotted hyena a facade tackle and flipping him on top. He was surrounded by a pack of them and roared a glow. A trio of hyenas pushed through the pack to get a closer look at the strange phenomenon, the lead hyena was seeing the badger's form change and cringed when she saw him stand on his hind legs. "Oh, that ain't good."
Her right hand subordinate, who had a black eye from an attack by that badger, grumbled. "Come on, he's just talking again!" The form turned completely bipedal, having distinct shoulders and arms while head slumped forward to have a mane at the back of the neck. The most insane of the three hyenas, who was laughing most of the way, was realizing something "Hahahahahha, eh." and cringed while bringing out his tongue. "Eh."
The glow ended and the badger stood over the pack, having a grin of payback. "Well, it looks like I won't fit in that hole anymore." He looked to his body, composing of black fur, with white stripes at the legs, the ankles and arms were covered in thick gray fur and his torso had a fur pattern, akin to a vest. He gave them a glare with his red eyes, dropped his tongue aggressively and crossed his arms for an obstructing brace. "So come have a piece of me now!" The grouch of the three hyenas growled back out of line. "Get this punk, it's dinner time!"
The badger blocked and dodge the bites like they were of little threat, he gave a stomping tantrum and use a shock wave to knock the pack away, he gave the grouch a glare and rushed at him for a facade punch, sending him flying to a rock in one blow. The pack leader and the maniacal subordinate leaped at the badger at that chance, the badger laughed and gave a slash with his claws, knocking the subordinate out in one blow and flung the pack leader. He took the chance and put a foot on her, keeping her pinned while looking up to the moon and howling. "Oh yeah!"
The pack leader came through fast, due to not getting punched square in the jaw and realize that the tables were turned. She struggled to break loose and pleaded. "Hey, hey. I think we're getting the wrong idea he-" The badger kept a foot pressed and looked down to her. "Ya still awake?"
He looked to a wasteland and snorted. "Yeah, this place is gonna need some strength to run anything." He put his foot off and made sure the two subordinates were waking up, just so they could listen. "Alright, listen up. Here's how it's gonna go."
Back to the present.
Terra and Leon came through the flash of light and found themselves at a lower ground in a jungle oasis. The two looked around and found something amiss. Leon spotted a brown lion with a wild mane, blue eyes and a very muscular physic. The keybearer, meanwhile, was looking upon a strange velvet, thin cat with long fox ears, long fur under the ears, striking purple eyes and white pupils. All of it complimented by a red gem and a tail split in two at the end. By the strange cat, was an archer owl that was looking around, a Crabominable that was feeling stuffy, a Swampert that was waking up and a Moltres that was stretching his wings and shook himself while mid air. Terra growled out to the cat. "Kid?" Leon blinked, saw he had to walk on four legs and approached in observation. "So this is what you meant. You look something like a Pyroar if he didn't adapted to fire."
The lion nearly jumped, clearly he didn't read the Pokedex. "Then what does that make you? I thought that thing was suppose to make you more hidden, not stand out." K'ui scurried in between Terra and the feline. "Hey! He isn't acting like he chose that!"
Pueo had a second look at Leon and flapped in astonishment. "Something turned him into an Espeon!" Leon flinched. "An Espeon?" He looked around to find a pond to use, something to reflect and revel a form that is quite fitting. Mahi Mahi looked over to the boy and grunted. "Hmph! It's about time!" Waddle! Waddle! "Hut! Hut! Hut!" The band turned to the noise and found Teddiursa and the eager Cadet, the bear pushed the grass away and was quick to recognize Terra. She gave off the squeaky voice of a little girl. "Found ya!"
She approached and asked. "What's going on? I've been hearing things from my ball when I ended up waking up out here." Terra sighed. "It's the World Order, sometimes when you visit a world, you got to blend in or people will freak out. The last time someone revealed that secret to someone, she nearly brought the end of the cosmos for a chance at conquering it. But it looks like we're the only ones that changed." Leon gasped. "I think I know what happened, a poke ball doesn't really fit in with the world, so until other wise, our partners are to be brought out automatically."
Pō scoffed and laughed in a deep voice. "Aren't we all beasts deep down?" He looked around to find that there is two distinct paths out of the oasis. One is towards a regrowing plain heading to a mountainous rock, the other to a wilderness. Leon wasn't going to argue with the bird. "It's pretty clear me and Terra of a similar species, if from a different world. But this can help a local figure out that we're just visiting. Pō, just so you don't scare everyone, you are to take to the skies and keep out of sight. If we meet someone that-" He rolled his eyes to try and not sound ruthless. "isn't going to cooperate with us and would sooner try to harm us, you can do what you want with them. Just spot this que."
He focused to his forehead and gave a quick flash of light, Leon gave that shine two more times, Pō smirked wickedly at his task. "They try to trifle with us, they'll quickly regret that."
Terra shook his head at the malevolent behavior of the bird. "This has got to be a bad dream. We're here for a rescue mission, not starting another war!" The Moltres flapped and cawed dramatically. "It's tactics to survive out here! The moment you know a wicked fool is going to strike, you strike faster and land that first blow! They won't get back up to try again."
He flew off to a nearby mountain, as a way to perch out of sight. Leon chanted for flavor. "The weak willed bullies, always run and cower when they face against something much bigger than they will ever be. They look to what blocks their sky and find the shadow of the Dark Pheonix." Terra had a chill down his spine as the Espeon winked. "If we end up here for longer than a few hours, we got to make sure that's known. So even a jerk will know better," He checked Terra's physic. "Although, you'd probably scare most of the cowards away without having to need that kind of force."
Rumble! Shake! SCREEE!
The sound of trouble was heard close by, Terra realized he had no hands and thought to improvise, conjuring Ends of the Earth and holding the hilt in his teeth. He kept the blade close to the ground and dashed to the sound, the Cadet and Teddiursa sprinted, with the bear yelling out. "Hey, slow down!"
They found the aftermath of a short scuffle that resulted in a meerkat with red fur on his head, running from a barrage of rock and bubbles, while fleeing from a metal ant that chased off a fiery red ant eater. "Run, run!" The meerkat caught up with a brown warthog that let him on his back that advised. "Let's get out of here, Timon, before those bugs eat us!" The small one agreed with that as the ant eater hurried with his arms flailing. "Someone's been messing with the food chain Pumbaa! I'm going to need an aspirin!"
Terra observed the water way, where most of the attacks were launched from. From the metal, red eyed ant, to an angry blue water strider at the lake and right by, a hermit crab that was carrying using a shell shaped rock. The hermit crab gave a light stomp and balked to the bug eaters. "Get out of here!" The ant noticed the band approaching and jumped. "Oh no!" His fellow bugs turned, noticing Terra and his partners. "Hey, that's a Charcadet and a Teddiursa." The strider bubbled. "A Teddiursa?!" The bug types were ready for a fight as the bear pleaded. "Hey, hey, we're not here for a fight!" The crab grumbled. "Then what are you here for?"
Terra could tell a fear reaction and put his blade down to answer. "We heard some of you fell here and we came to bail you out. What were you doing?" The crab cringed. "Fighting back against them bug eaters that's what! Our buddy, Durant, has been chased by that Heatmor last night." Durant clicked his mandibles. "Speaking of which, what now?"
Leon and his band got out of hiding, feeling they heard enough. The Espeon cringed at what he's seeing. "I hate to break this to you all, but I think the bug eaters made this into a home first and you just chased them out." He pitied the bugs for one thing. "You had the right to defend yourself, but this is going to go too far." The Durant hissed in defense. "What were we suppose to do? Talk it out with guys that were going to eat us?"
The Decidueye laughed to the sky "Hahahahaha!" then faced them with a serious frown. "That wouldn't have worked. You and Heatmor are natural enemies." The Teddiursa looked up to the sky and gasped to something. "Wait, hold on! Do the bug eaters know that you're pokemon?" The bugs flinched in shock and the strider looked to his neighbors. ""Come to think of it, the bugs they were munching on didn't look like anyone we'd know."
Leon hmmed. "They probably were not and they are likely not pokemon, but creatures that are native. If the bug eaters known you were a Surskit, Dweeble and a Durant, they wouldn't have followed that Heatmor along." The bug types were feeling guilt of what they've actual done and Durant asked. "Did we just muscle those guys out of their home?"
They wondered how they were going to make up fort hat as Pueo asked. "You feel like you know what you need to do?" The bugs certainly do, though Durant gave a stomp for something anyways. "Yeah, if ya beat the toughest of us here and now. Then they'll listen to what you gotta say. So bring it!"
Leon nodded and stepped aside for Terra. "That is fair." He and his companions took a back seat, letting the three know there's a fight to ensue. The Espeon asked curiously. "Durant wants a one on one, what are you going to do?" Terra thought to himself and gestured to the perky Cadet. "The bug's metal, so if we use some fire, we'll end this quickly!" The Cadet marched forward. "Aye, aye, commander!" He braced himself and tapped his feet. "Come on, bring it!"
Durant stared at an obvious novice "Okay!", rushed at him and gave a hearty strike of a first impression, sending the Cadet rolling back into the dirt. The fire type caught himself as Leon gave the ant where it was due. "Nice first impression." Terra ordered fast. "Hey, watch out for anything like that! Jump above and trap him in a fire spin!"
The cadet flashed his eyes, leaped to the air and unleashed a twirl of fire, trapping the ant with in and causing him to yell out. "Yeouch!" He leaped after the Cadet in a hustle and Terra saw an opening. "He's getting sloppy! Dodge that" The Cadet leaped over a metal claw hustle as his partner roared. "and finish him off with ember!" The Cadet tossed a fire ball and knocked the Durant to his belly. The match was set and over.
The Cadet landed boldly and crossed his arms into an x before flexing. Leon closed his eyes proudly. "It appears we have a winner." Terra agreed with that and cast a heal on the Durant. "Now, come with us, we got to track those guys down." Pueo flapped to the sky and followed a trial. "They haven't gotten far." Leon ordered his partner. "Fly to where they are and tell them to stay put. This is a misunderstanding!"
Close by at the outskirts of the oasis.
Timon, Pumbaa and the Heatmor crouched in hiding behind a rock, the fire type had a peak and puffed out of his tail in relief. "*Hoo* They didn't follow us." Pumbaa was relieved by that and had a seat. "They've been eating good, I tell ya what!" Timon slid off and straighten himself while having a pessimistic vision. "This bites, we got kicked out faster than an off bound soccer ball and we don't even know if there's more of them." He had a peak at a place he and Pumbaa made home. "We're never going to get that back now."
Heatmor was concerned about that as well. "Even if we try smoking them out, there would be too many shrubs for it to really work." Pumbaa cringed. "We'd get into a whole lot of trouble if we set those off. You said you've fought a ton of them before?"
The ant eater grunted. "Lot of Durants and bugs that don't like my heat. But never a Surskit's bubbles or a Dweeble's rocks." He had an idea for how one of the bugs could be out of the picture. "Maybe that Surskit could evolve soon and fly off somewhere?" Timon raised a brow at the world. "Evolve?! Buddy, we don't have a decade to wait on that!" He groaned, unaware of a shadow going over him. "Bah! How could this day get any worse?" He saw a shadow of an owl that was right behind him and hid behind Pumbaa. "Why did I ask?"
The larger animals looked over to find an archer owl that landed from a short flight, the owl perched on a rock and waved. "Hey, don't run off yet. I think you two didn't know what you got yourselves into." He pointed to the Heatmor. "and you went along with it, not really knowing better either." The Heatmor could tell by looking at the bird. "It's okay Timon, this Decidueye is friendly." The Meerkat wasn't believing that, but did notice something strange with the greenery. "Wonderful. You turn those feathers into leaves or something?"
The bird nodded. "Why yes, yes I do." He had an inspired idea on how to approach this conversation. "Would you mind telling me how you and Heatmor met?" Pumbaa remembered a festive night. "Well, Timon and I were minding our own business when we found some smoke at our humble abode. Then we got the smell of something scrumptious." Heatmor remembered the delectable dish. "Medium well, fire roasted grubs!" Decidueye put the rest of the events together. "Sounds tasty if you know some spices. Since you all prey on those, you kicked it off until this morning. Where you tried to find breakfast and just so happened to find that Durant?"
The Heatmor pressed his claws together. "I wanted to return the favor by cooking up a dish I liked." He slumped in embarrassment. "But that Durant had friends." The owl closed his eyes and sighed. "I can't argue with wanting to be a good friend, but that wasn't a good idea. You and those bugs shouldn't even be here, that whole oasis is in trouble if we don't find the pokemon that are lost in there."
That had Timon completely confused. "Wait, what?" Which proved the owls point. "Heatmor's not an animal that's native here. He's a different creature of his own. What he saw as bugs and what you saw as bugs, while they have to look alike, were definitely not the same thing. You picked a fight with some pokemon, without knowing it." He noticed someone coming and purred. "My friends ought to explain the rest."
The three turned around, Pumbaa was intrigued by the menagerie as Timon was ready to embrace the insanity, passing a whisper to the Heatmor. "A point is about to be taken." Leon waved his paws like a rainbow. "Alola! Sorry about dropping in, did my friend tell you what you need to know?"
Timon waved a hand, having a full understanding of the general problem. "We got some invasive wise guys that got dumped here and they are going to mess up the circle of life?" Leon was impressed that the local summarized the greatest issue as Terra explained. "Let's just say, we're here to relocate them. Heatmor, do you know any other pokemon?" The ant eater sighed and thought about how he ended up on this world. "I can't count that far, but I know a lot of holes were in the sky when I fell here." Durant gave an estimate. "Lots and lots that are far from this spot."
Leon appreciated that report. "I imagine that this isn't the only place with this kind of problem. So, how about we work together to account for every pokemon we can find in the Oasis and then explore the wilderness of these lands together? Alone, you would all beat each other up on a misunderstanding or because of that instinct, simply ending up in more trouble. But together, we'd have a good shot in getting out of here with no trouble."
Heatmor huhed. "Together?" Terra noticed the incentive and asked. "Maybe a demonstration could work. I'm trying to figure this out too." He asked the bear. "Teddiursa, it's your turn!" The bear hurried to get to an opening, while the Heatmor was interested and went to the other side. Pueo kept Timon and Pumbaa away from a dangerous blast zone as the Espeon waved his tail three times.
"Begin!"
The Heatmor ignited his fist in fire as Terra ordered. "Give him those eyes!" The bear gave off baby doll eyes and took the blow, only to suffer a burn as an after effect. Terra called. "Counter with lick and let him have it with facade!" The bear leaped to the ant eaters shoulder and gave a paralyzing lick before kicking him far with a facade. The Heatmor rushed for a fury swipe of five as the Bear roared and leaped for a multi punch close combat, ending the fight with a round house kick and impressing the locals. Heatmor fell over to the ground and had a swirl in his eye. "...Ow."
Terra passed along a heal that woke him up and treated the burn. The Durant cringed at the aftermath. "That's gonna leave some marks." He approached the natives as Terra thought of a plan and pointed back to the Oasis. "Alright, here's the idea. We'd use that lake as a meeting. Once we find everyone, we can get moving to the next place you can think of that wouldn't want any fights going on." He advised the locals. "If we find bigger bugs, don't try eating them."
Timon had it noted and point his thumb to Pumbaa. "My pal here can smell them from a mile." The warthog imagined what the more dangerous bug types would look like. "And I think the really big bugs would look like they can make a meal out of us." Leon recalled a few that could do exactly that. "Easily, I'm not exactly good at handling bug pokemon either. Even if my friends here can make a point across."
Heatmor was getting up as Terra suggest. "So, as soon as we get back in there, we can get started right away?" Leon nodded with a mentors pride. "A Durant and a Heatmor are pokemon above the weight class of your partners right now and you've handled them with flying colors. If the pokemon get into any real trouble, then imagine what will happen when they fight with you!" Terra had a growing smirk as he and the misfits headed back to the Oasis to make a base.
Half an hour later.
Leon, Terra, Pueo and K'ui finished setting up a wooden mound by the lake, while Timon, Pumbaa, Mahi Mahi and Durant finished digging a few holes. Making an obvious gathering spot that would do for the span of the other half of the hour. The Espeon had a second inspection and turned to announce. "Alright, this will do as a place for pokemon to gather if they just need to know the way. I'm thinking, since this place is so big, we ought to split up to cover more ground." Teddiursa looked around and asked. "But who's going with who?"
Leon looked to Durant and his fellow bugs while directing to his personal squad. "I think we should follow the river to where it's flowing and see if there's anyone that would gather around. Durant, you could help speak through any barriers, if you would call it that."
The ant was aware what the Espeon meant, the youngster pointed to Terra. "You, Terra, Cadet and the bug eaters should take the route into this jungle and explore the trees." Timon signaled a time out. "Hold it kid, why are you the one telling us to do this?" Terra was expecting more of a surprise from the rather insightful guidance, the youngster raised a paw. "For starters, I think Durant and Heatmor can help talk to certain pokemon. But it's never a good idea to have them that close to each other for long. Since the wet lands are moist enough for most bug pokemon, we're likely to run into a bug that won't get scared off so easily. So long as Heatmor isn't anywhere in sight. In contrast, the jungle might have pokemon that won't be bug types and might very well have a diet consisting of what ever grows here."
Timon put a finger under his chin, feeling that he understands. "So if it's one of those guys, it will be more obvious?" Leon nodded. "Yep. "Some of them might not be in a mood to listen anyways and might start a fight. Since those three are strong fighters and Heatmor's got some power of his own, you got some protection backing you up. We might also have an incident, in where these pokemon might try preying on each other. It happens all the time in the wild, but now isn't a moment for that."
Pumbaa grunted. "So, as the fellows up in the food chain, it would be up to us to break a fight apart?" Terra offered to lead the way. "And then we can take off somewhere else and see more of the damage!" Timon agreed with that and followed. "Simba's gotta hear about this!" Leon imagined that the two locals know someone with more authority and lead his to the river path. "The more on board, the better."
With the teams split up, Leon and his partners had something of a nature hike. Mahi Mahi checked a river and watched it flow out of the oasis, to a desert and to the plains with the strange mountain. "Mmmm." Leon hummed back and lead to the border between the Oasis and the desert lands. "We need to search every corner and this oasis is just the beginning."
On reaching there, they found a brown beetle, rolling a ball of mud, dirt and strips of orange and gray debris. He was guided by a flying honeycomb with three faces and an abdomen of a bee, to the river for a moment to cool themselves. Pueo spotted a red dot on the forehead of the bottom honeycomb and as K'ui noticed someone arriving from another section of the desert, a yellow worm in a leafy hood and a red, short centipede with a green abdomen and a black circle on the sides of it's thorax. They looked liked they've over heated from an adventure of survival and went by the river for that drink. The brown beetle showed a pink face with a bizarre nose, a mustache and busy eyebrows while he brought his ball close and had a sip.
The centipede noticed movement and hissed. "Who goes there?" Leon saw that he and his band were spotted, he gave the Alolan greeting to ease the tension. "Alola Venipede! "It's rough there and it's rough here. If you want me to be honest, it's probably not a good idea to be here for too long. If you know some more pokemon that are lost here or out in the dessert, we can look for them and work up a way to get you all out of here."
The Venipede was astonishment at the friendly faces and tilt his head left and right as the beetle crawled on his ball and had a look at the strangers, he spoke in a cockney accent. "You sure you're thinking about that? You're not hiding anything from us, are you?"
The four pokemon were astonished by the guess as Leon gave a glow in his eyes. "Well, I only look like this because this world wants me to look like this." He used some telepathy and showed the bugs, an image of a blonde human boy with a gentle face. The leaf worm yelped and scurried behind the Venipede as the bee was curious and flew closer. In a blink, the boy was back to the form of an Espeon. He turned his eyes to the bee. "The creatures you might have found here, aren't what you think they are. If you stay here, you could cause some serious damage to their homes. If we work together, we'll find a way to a better one."
The upper bees looked to the one with the mark, leaving her to make a decision. She wondered. "How are we gonna help?" Leon imagined. "There's not a lot of time to have you all evolve and be in fighting shape. But, I don't think it's going to be needed. We just need something of a mound or shelter so a pokemon can get the idea of where to go. We might have to migrate somewhere for the moment." The leaf bug wiggled out. "Somewhere? Like that big rock on the other side of the desert?"
Leon nodded. "Yeah, or what ever will lead us there." The Venipede hissed at what was known. "Combee flew over to have a look, there's a lot of grass, but it's far away from here." Mahi Mahi hummed deeply. "Far you say? I think I can fit a Venipede and a Sewaddle on my back while K'ui and Durant help Rellor get rolling." Leon approved to that plan. "And maybe, if the rumors are true, can help Rellor get a start at showing what a pokemon is. A Surskit and Dweedle's over there, waiting. We can talk the-"
Flap!
In a sudden, a dark pink flamingo with his neck knotted, landed from over the brush and gave a small dance to announced his arrival. The bugs scurried behind the Swampert and Durant for protection as the bird landed by the river and looked around, finding no one hostile in particular before going for a drink.
Leon recognized the bird. "A Flamigo!" He approached and gave the Alolan greeting. "Alola! Fancy seeing you here." The Flamigo tapped his beak at the water, turned to the stranger and raises his wings for a fast warning. "Lejos!" He hopped on one leg and went closer. "Lejos!"
Pueo approached and chirped, bird to bird. "Hey, hey! You're safe here for now, we just want to chat." The Flamigo swiped his wings in a warning and demanded. "Lejos! No soy presa hoy!" Pueo was offended and clenched a fist. "Why I oughta." Leon jumped before the birds and bared his fangs. "Hey, if you want to start a fight, then you better be ready to deal with one!"
The Flamigo tied his neck and hoped in a dance. "¡Entonces será mejor que conozcas el baile, amigo!" He leaped for another wing attack, Leon jumped out of the way to dodge, focused the gem on his forehead in a wish and felt it shine, opening his mind to something latent. "Very well." He fired a psybeam to the Flamigo, leaving him dazed and confused. The bird flew up to the air and dived down in an attempt to pounce, the Espeon rolled out of the way and conjured stars to fling at the bird, knocking him to the ground and leaving him in a struggle to get up. "No...no quiero."
Leon pressed a paw on the Flamigo's head and asked. "Ahora escucha." The Flamigo flinched at a the familiar tongue as the youngster asked. "¿Algo intentó atacarte antes? ¿Es por eso que estás actuando así?" The Flamigo gave up on fighting and admitted. "Sí, los felinos con dientes bajaron por el río más allá. Cuidado con las tierras lejanas." He squawked. "Cuidado!" Leon put his paw off. "Tendremos cuidado para cuando tengamos que ir allí."
He had a close inspection and saw claw marks on the birds body, he cringed. "Ouch." He turned to his companions. "Flamigo needs to get treated for those claw marks. Once we look around, we should head back." He asked the Flamigo. "Puedes levantarte?" The bird stood up on the answer. "Sí, sí. No estoy tan herido como para no poder moverme." The boy was pleased by that. "Conozco a alguien que puede tratar eso." He signaled to Swampert and Durant to give the smaller pokemon an escort as he and the others helped Flamigo walk around, finding nothing else in the wetlands, save for wild life that were minding their own business.
Up in the Grove.
Heatmor, Teddiursa and Pumbaa were sniffing around while Charcadet was looking around like an eager trooper. Timon was pressing his hand against his forehead and Terra noticed. "Come on, we got to look everywhere!" The Meerkat groaned and looked around. "I'm looking, I'm looking. How are we gonna explain this to the King?" Terra guessed "Simba?" and had a sweat. "You got me there, this is all hard to believe no matter how it was said."
Pumbaa and Teddiursa smelled something close, the bear cheered. "Fruit!" She followed her nose to a tree much shorter and wider than the others. "Fruit, fruit!" Pumbaa watched on and thought. "Well, you know what they say. If you see something enough times, then you can believe it."
Timon sighed. "Pumbaa that doesn't work when mirages are everywhere." The Warthog corrected him. "Ah! But the mirages are real. They're just showing something that's fake!"
Teddiursa gotten close to the tree to where she sees a mostly brown body and long hair like leaves. It's trunks looked like feet. The tree turned around to reveal three coconut heads, towering high over the little bear. Each one having a blissful smile and two fangs in each mouth.
"Hello."
"Hello."
"Hello!"
Timon rubbed his eyes in disbelief and Charcadet readied for a match. "Hello, who are you?" The three heads answered in sync. "Exeggu-" "Exeggu-" "Exeggu-" "Tor!" They adjusted to get some of sunlight and sighed. "This place is nice." "Sun and water!" "We can stay here for days!" The Warthog humbly requested. "Excuse me, Mr. Exeggutor, but we're in the middle of an emergency. I think a lot of your buddies are having trouble fitting in around here and could be in danger from the predators out there."
The Exeggutor was astonished and Terra found his chance at some diplomacy. "A group of pokemon nearly kicked these two out of here over a misunderstanding. You get how that's a bad thing?" The tree listened well. "Oh my." "Well that wasn't very nice." "We can't be hogging all the sunlight here?"
The Heatmor tapped his claws together and insist. "We'd end up changing this place if we stay. We'd might like it, but they won't." The heads gasped on a realization."The ecosystem!" "We did come here yesterday!" "This is worse than we thought." He approached from his piece of shrubbery and stood tall. "We know a few friends that want to hear about this!"
They showed a spike toed foot and hurried up the hill. The band were guided to a creek that was connected to a water fall, in a pond was a giant, blue, salamander with a back fin, a purple wavy stripe, a blobbish tail and a flat smile with blank, black eyes. He rolled on his back without a care in the world. Sleeping by a bush, was a yellow cloth with green eyes, an upside down purple triangle on her forehead and a brown bottom that has bird fluff. Exeggutor bellowed. "Flittle," "Quagsire!" "Dugtrio!" The Flittle woke up in a temper. "Arg! You woke me from my beauty sleep!"
Pop!
Terra felt something pop right by him and turned to find a trio of brown, furry lumps with black cartoonish eyes and a trio of red noses. One looking taller than the others, taking the back center, the one at it's right looking at an average height and the one at the left looking the shortest. "Dig!" "Dig! "Dig!"
The Dugtrio tilt their heads to greet the visitors. "Hello!" "Hello!" "Hello!" They burrowed into the ground and dug towards Teddiursa to give their welcome. "Hello!" "Hello!" "Hello!"
Quagsire remained completely unaware and Terra knew this was the odd one that wasn't going to move willingly. He roared out. "Hey, get up Flittle pouted. "I've tried that, he hasn't moved since he got here yesterday." Terra rolled his eyes and approached the mudfish. "Well, there's always a way to make him move." He used his head to push against the man sized salamander, despite his strength, the Quagsire simply rolled against him and used his weight to keep him down. Pumbaa, Exeggutor and Heatmor worked together to get Quagsire off of the lion as Teddirusa puffed her cheeks, the trainer was quite embarrassed. "This might take a while." The bear whined out. "It be easier if you turn that off and carry-" At that, Terra nearly warped to the bear and put a paw over her mouth. "Shh! We don't talk about that."
Charcadet looked to the Quagsire and jumped to a tree close to the lake. "Hmm. What if we try dropping him to the lake instead?" Timon crossed his arms and blew to the air. How are we suppose to do that? Dig a mote for the water to-" He remembers, one of the group has the word dug in their name. "carry him over there!"
The Exeggutor shook his leaves at the idea. "That's a good idea!" "We were just about to say that!" "I'm sure no one would mind another creek!"
Terra was quite impressed by the local. "You know, that's actually a good idea." He went over to the Quagsire's pond and conjured a blade, he gave a jerk upward and cleaved up a trial of dirt. Causing a jagged gape that made a tree shake and invite a faint sound of a shriek. Dugtrio burrowed bellow and got to work on evening out the earth and continuing the path, creating something for the pond to flow water right into the lake. Heatmor and Teddiursa worked to turn the Quagsire over to the flow and watched him slide the stream, into the drop of the river. They heard a simple splash and were ready to go forward, until Terra was ambushed by something giving a charge.
The lion dodged an icy fist of a furious cream colored monkey. Who's head is most of it's body, he has a pig nose, brownish red eyes, a brown tail, three digit feet and hands. He twitched his triangular ears and shrieked. "Will you stop making that noise!?" He jumped up and down while earning scorn from the Flittle. "Ah man, we annoyed the Mankey." She glowed, ready to knock him out as the Cadet stepped forward. "Finally! Another opponent!" Terra sighed and signaled to the bird. "We got this." He asked. "Cadet, heat him up a little and I'll do the rest." Charcadet nodded, glowed his hands in spectral fire and gave it a charge. "Feel the burn!" The Mankey gave a fast low kick. "Would you back off?!" The Cadet tossed the will-o-wisp at the monkey and caused a burn that irritated him more.
Terra charged with the blunt of the blade and had Mankey pressed against the tree. The monkey had a grip and tried to press back, surprising the veteran to where he had to apply pressure and wait for the foe to calm down, which took a while. Terra stepped back and let the Mankey fall on his knees. "Finally had enough?"
Mankey groaned. "This is just annoying!" He stomped in a tantrum. "Every time something ruins my day, it just makes me angry! It's so annoying!" The veteran found that troublesome. "And what, you're just going to get angry over that?"
Mankey wanted to just lay down as Teddiursa asked. "It isn't going to make it go away. But how about you stick around with us, we got a lot to do!" The Monkey pointed onward. "Yeah, yeah, I know. I've been hearing it from over at the mango tree." He put his paws on his hips. "Beside that one who's by the falls, is there any others I need to know about?"
Exeggutor thought of it. "Well!" "I think I saw some bugs that were hiding." "This morning." Terra recalled. "And the kid that is at the other side is taking his time to search every rock. Mankey, what do you mean by the one at the falls?"
Mankey tried standing tall and posed his hands like their daggers. "A big one! A Scyther! A big bug with sharp claws!" Pumbaa imagined a giant, scythe talon bug and eeked. "That's a bug that would eat us if he gets the chance!" Flittle snickered a whisper. "Teehee! Not before dressing you up!" Exeggutor wasn't amused by the bird. "I don't think he was eating any meat." "Now's not a good time to joke!" "There's only one way to make him hear us!"
Heatmor gasped. "You need a pokemon who can't evolve anymore to fight at his level." He flexed and asked his fellow bug eaters. "You guys can get back and tell them we're about done!" He was ready to take off tot he falls and Timon got in the way. "Woah, woah, woah! The last time we thought we had easy grub to bite into, the grub bit into us!" Heatmor grunted. "Yeah! But we have some buddies who can knock both me and Durant down! If one of us fights that Scyther with them, they'd stand a chance!" Timon lowered a finger in thought. "You have a point."
Terra nodded and asked the Mankey. "Show us where that Scyther is! I think we can take him!" The monkey grunted and sprinted to the water fall, using all fours for extra speed as Timon passed a warning. "Just be careful, getting that on our side's isn't worth losing your head over!"
Terra smirked in confidence. "True, but having him on our side would mean that the predators will back off." That can't be argued with, Terra had his two misfits follow him while the others headed back to the camp. It was a short walk to the mountain, that had a great fall pouring right by, Mankey stopped in a slide and looked around to find a deep slit in the mountain. "There it is! He'll be close!"
Heatmor had a look at the cut and yelped. "Oh that's a deep cut!" Charcadet looked around as Teddiursa caught the smell of something sweet, she looked to the upper left and found something munching on yellow fruit. It was green, had four insectoid wings and had a reptilian head. Terra noticed peeled fruit skin and looked up to find the green mantis with those talons, enjoying a blissful day. Munch! "Mmm! So good!" He finished, licked his lips and went for another, readying to peel it when he noticed intruders in his territory.
He stood up and nearly vanished, making his way to the marking and spin in a menacing pose. "Away! This is my territory!" The band had a look at the clawed, insect feet, the bipedal frame and the green eyes. Heatmor scratched the side of his head. "We know Scyther, we got a meeting that's about what we're doing." He posed for a fight. "So, you know what's got to be done!"
The mantis realized this buffoon was serious and looked to the smaller ones that were preparing, he ticked in arrogance and gave the ant eater a glare. "I got interrupted-" Swoosh! "for this?"
He shoulder bashed Heatmor with his right shoulder and smacked him into a spin with his dual wings. Heatmor oofed and countered with a fast fire punch, the Scyther stepped back from the flaming blow and spun in flight. Knocking a preparing Heatmor with a quick attack and was about to head back to his mark.
Terra wasn't letting the bug get away. "Teddiursa, it's your turn!" The bear nodded and waddled as the Scyther had his sights set on the lion that gave the order. He bared his fangs at him. "Are you all serious about that?" He scoffed. "Fine! But you're making a big mistake!"
The bear gave the mantis a set of baby doll eyes and unnerved the mantis that followed a strategy with a fury cutter slash, he flipped for a dual wing beat as Terra ordered. "Roll back and counter with facade!" The bear did as asked and gave the mantis a smack that sent him rolling and falling to his knees. Heatmor looked up in a struggle and cheered.
"Yay!"
He groaned at the swift beating he took as Teddiursa turned to her comrades and waved her paws. "Hurray, we did it! Thanks for the help guys!" The bear and her partner got close to the mantis, the lion passed off a heal to wake the party up and saw a rather hostile glare. The Scyther stood up and asked. "I don't get it. I see you with a weapon, just fine, so why make them come at me this soon?"
Terra had a sharp reminder of what he was doing and cringed, nearly losing himself in thought and realizing that would just give the bug more to peel at. "Because they need to learn to take on something bigger and meaner than they are. But that's the least of our worries." He stomped a paw down. "There's a gathering in the lower grounds and everyone needs to attend it, you included." He roared an order. "So get to it!"
The mantis had a flight instinct take over and he hurried across the lake, leaving Terra to think about what was said. Charcadet saw concern and asked like a typical trooper. "What's your next order, Captain?" Terra didn't wish to show a face, took a deep breath and asked. "Just in case, we should look around for any loose ends and head back." He closed his eyes and confessed to the duo. "You've both been great so far, so let's keep it up."
Back at the camp.
Timon and Pumbaa were startled by a tale that Leon spoke of in regards to the odd bird out. "When he arrived, he wasn't going to take any chances and fought anyone that approached him direct. Beware the distant lands." Flamigo nodded. "Si. Cuidado con los gatas con dientes!"
The Espeon translated. "Beware the toothy cats." Timon put a palm to his face. "Ah geeze! Those guys are out in the Outlands!" He groaned in despair. "Anything that's past the Pridelands borders is a goner!"
Leon wasn't so pessimistic. "Maybe if the pokemon is something like a ratatta or the likes of a magikarp. But you'd be surprised at how a pokemon fights back. Flamigo's got some powerful kicks that any toothy cat will loose teeth before they can sink theirs into him."
Suddenly, a Scyther landed by with some nimble grace and looked around to the herd. "He wasn't kidding, what's going on here?" Leon and his closest companions realized that Terra and his partners overcame a Scyther. "Alola!" He smiled nervously. "It's a lot to explain, but anyone where who's fallen from one of those wormholes, can't stay in these lands without damaging it. We're on a mission to find every Pokemon that's lost here and migrate somewhere that wouldn't mind you all."
He asked with hope. "I'd take it, you've met with Terra and his trainees?" Scyther felt a blood vessel pumping at the side of his head. "That wimp?! He didn't got the guts to fight me one on one, the Heatmor and that bear had to do the work!"
That disrespect caused Leon to give a piercing stare, turning to that of anger. He nearly made an outburst and was stopped by K'ui roaring. "Hey, hey! You don't know the whole story, pal!" Leon calmed down and signaled his Crabominable. "Don't worry, I'll handle this."
He eased his tone. "Scyther, if me and my sister didn't request that he get his partners ready for the bigger battles, he would have been more than happy to fight you one on one." Pueo put a hand on his partners shoulder, Leon blew out. ""But, that would not have helped. However, I'm thinking he might be going somewhere, somewhere that a real fight will happen. Very soon. So would you please, show a little patience?"
Scyther growled and was feeling a headache. "Can anyone here make sense out of this?" Durant shook his head. "Wish I can." Timon realized what would have been a good time to show. "You missed out on the biggest ones a few months ago." Pumbaa remembered more distinctly. "Those battles are with the monsters that three of Simba's friends have talked about!" Leon guessed. "If you're referring to the Heartless and those that use them, then you are quite correct." He felt Terra and his misfits returning from an expedition, they watched the Quagsire roll to his stomach as a way to pay attention to the herd.
The lion saw the variety of bug types and whistled. "Woah!" Flamigo turned and shrieked in terror of the lion, flapping his wings for a battle. "Gata con dientes!" He hopped for a fight. "No me llevarás hoy." Leon growled and let loose a meow. "Enough!"
The bird turned his head as the Espeon got in the way between him and Terra. "He's with us!" He stood out of the way and asked the lion. "Terra, can you figure out what's wrong with this Flamigo?" The lion saw the claw marks and checked the birds sides. "Yeah, he's been hurt by some gatas? Pretty badly from what I'm seeing." The Espeon nodded. "Very much so, by the Cats with the Big Teeth." The lion didn't hesitate to give a powerful heal, closing up the wounds and halting the sting, Flamigo hopped in joy. "Gracias, mi amigo!" The veteran nodded and smiled in good will. "Don't mention it." He reported with a warm feeling in his heart. "We can't find anything else up there, do you think anyone is missing?"
Leon doubted on that. "I think a pokemon will figure out something's going on here and get drawn in. Give if a few-" The band waited a short while, finding no one else coming, Pueo broke the silence and asked. "that should be every pokemon here! So if we know which way to go, this Simba won't be able to ignore us." Pumbaa headed to where Leon and the crew came from. "He's lives over at Pride Rock," Terra guessed. "as the King of the Pridelands?"
Timon got on Pumbaas back and nodded. "We're all chums!" Leon followed by. "That's convenient, if we're lucky, word can get out and we can search the Pride Lands for more. Maybe even learn a thing about the Outlands before we venture there last." Timon had a dry laugh. "A.. ha, you're not serious about going there? Are you?" Leon looked back at the Exeggutor using a psychic suggestion to have Quagsire get up and follow. "If a good friend of yours was... blown away there and if you and Pumbaa were the only ones who could rescue him or her, would you go there?"
Timon cringed as his teeth and tongue was trying to hold the word. Yes. "Ye...esh." Leon smiled sweetly and gave a distinct blink of light. "When it comes down to it, we won't ask."
The herd felt a shadow fly over them and make way for the path to the desert. A black pheonix with magenta wings. The Espeon promised those who would definitely be terrified. "Pō is an insurance policy, while we discuss with the royalty, he'll have a very important assignment."
They felt the presence land and hurried to the river, finding the Moltres deciding on sampling the water. "Hmm. Refreshing, little wonder that this is a haven." His partner called to him. "Pō we've finished our mission in this oasis, but we still have more to do." The bird continued his drink and listened to his next assignment. "Beyond here is a kingdom that's going to need our aid. But once we are finished there, we have to go to the forbidden lands on the other side of this oasis. The Outlands. We've heard that it is a very dangerous place to be in, least of all for any pokemon that is unlucky enough to have fallen over there."
The Moltres looked at the Flamigo and made it clear he saw his shenanigans. The pink yipped and hid in the crowd as Leon request. "We need to know what we're getting ourselves into. Will you do it?"
The Moltres lifted his head and promised. "That will be done and I suppose you have a request if I find our charge in peril?" The Espeon nodded. "I do, if you find any pokemon that's being hunted by a predator, do what you must to rescue that pokemon. I know the moment anything looks at you, they'll run, but it will give us time to set it right. If the predator isn't going to get the clue, or don't care, do what you want with them so they'll learn to stay out of this!"
The Moltres closed his eyes and had a smirk. "T'is a thankless job." He had one more sip as Leon nuzzled by him. "It is right now, but many of us will thank you by the end of the day." He rubbed gently, causing the bird to blush and return the affection. Something that brought some surprise to Terra, as he watched the bird shake the drippings off. The Espeon stepped away and watched the bird raise his wings, wishing the herd the best. "Good luck over there, don't think of the how, only that the results will be good for you all." He cawed and flew to the skies of the Outlands.
The herd felt a shadow of fear lessen and Pumbaa broke the silence with his thought. "The bird's a lot nicer than he looks!" Exeggutor agreed. "He is." "I knew I saw something fly by." "I think the Outlands won't be so bad because of him." Some of the pokemon were agreeing with that as Leon hurried forward with some tears in his eyes. "Thank you, he would have loved to hear that." Terra followed by the boy and helped lead the herd in exodus.
