And so, they used the tubes to get back. After a brief, wholly unnecessary to recap at this time, interaction with the tube operator, they arrived back where they started. Back to the town, back. Upon their return, they quickly went back to their work: getting out of the past and back to the present.
"Alright, alright," said Oona, "We're back. What do we have left, again?"
"Let me see," said Oscar, "three-dimensional birdhouse, and a sports coat. That's all we have left."
"If only it was a doghouse," said Otis, "There'd we'd be almost done."
"Well, it isn't," said Olympia, "and so we need a birdhouse equivalent to it."
"Well, the dog seems to have a bird friend," said Oscar, "maybe we could look there?"
"Alright, let's find them," said Oona.
"Here's The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent, investigating Oddness…"
"What seems to be the problem, sir?" asked The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent.
"''/' \'' ''', /\!" said the bird.
"I see," replied The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent, "This should help."
He aimed and attempted to fire the gadget, and Ka-Boom!
That was not meant to happen.
"It's really not as glamourous being a World-Famous Odd Squad Agent as you'd think it is, from tv."
And then some other, less famous, Odd Squad Agents arrived.
"Ah, Agent Oopy, what's the problem here," Oona asked The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent.
"Well, this bird here has had his nest transformed into a four-dimensional birdhouse," replied The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent, "I tried to use the nestinator to fix it, but… well, you can see what happened."
"I know what the problem is here," said Oscar, "The nestinator is deigned to make nests, not make things into nests. You tried to use it to change his house, when you should've been replacing it!"
"Well, thanks for telling me now," replied The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent, "After I've already used it. As you can see, I don't exactly have a nestinator now."
"Allow us," said Otis. He started pulling out and combining gadgets.
"Every gadget has a number at the bottom of it," said Olympia, to the camera, "As such, you can combine multiple gadgets into another gadget with a bigger number."
"You got a toothbrushinator?" asked Otis.
"Here!" said Olympia, tossing it over to him, before returning to her explanation, "This is called addition. Since the nestinator is gadget number 17897, Otis has to add together a very large number of gadgets. So he throws them all together, and…"
Otis zapped, making a new nest. They exchanged the nests.
"'/' ''" \\\''!" said the bird, thanking them.
"All in a day's work for The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent!" replied The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent.
"Can we take the birdhouse, Agent Ooopy?" asked Oscar.
"Why not," graciously replied The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent.
And so, the Odd Squad agents parted ways, leaving The World-Famous Odd Squad Agent to his own devices. And the others to be able to leave soon, via their own devices.
